Food For Thought for Cross-Dressers, Transvestites and the Transgender Community in general, from Kathy Martin (23rd July 2010)

CONGRATULATIONS! You are part of a very select group of individuals who have achieved the ultimate goal in life.

And what is that goal? What the bloody hell is she going on about now? Who does she think she is, she doesn’t know anything about all the hassle I’m going through at the moment?! Here I am, struggling to come to terms with everything and she’s prattling on about being all positive, bouncy and, well …… girlie!

Right, now that I’ve hopefully got your attention, here are some quotes from people a lot more eloquent ‘than wot I am!’ to explain:

1: “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear” (Nelson Mandela)

How many times have you been afraid about how you feel about cross-dressing, especially in the early days of your adventure? Lack of understanding, shame, guilt, solitude, and/or desperation? Conquering this fear has or will put you in the happy ‘Band of Brothers’ (or ‘Sisters’) who ARE courageous and I doff my cap to you.

2: “What you must dare is to be yourself” (Dag Hammerskjold)

3: “Be yourself. Everyone else is taken” (Oscar Wilde)

If you decide you can’t ‘be yourself’ then you’re effectively letting someone else decide who you are meant to be – wow, I just made that one up myself! But it’s something that we must all celebrate because so many people seem quite happy to be led by what others think is ‘right’ or ‘normal’.

To be honest, I don’t want to be ‘average’ in anything I do, especially from now on, and what is ‘normal’ anyway nowadays? I want to be BLOODY MARVELLOUS and one of my goals for this year is to make it my year of ‘Bloody Marvellous’ (AND IT’S WORKING SO FAR, WEYHEY!)

I’d like to share a story with you to illustrate this, if I may?

A couple of months ago I was in a nightclub with four very good friends of mine (all ‘Real Girls’) and we had our picture taken together. When I looked at the photo a few days later I realised what a fantastic story it made – we were all smiling and looked like your ‘average’ group of girlies on a night out. Even if I say so myself I looked drop-dead gorgeous …. however back to my insight ….!

‘Average’ or ‘normal’ we were NOT…..

RITA is a glamorous grandmother. She has been happily married to Ken for 40 years.

SO WHAT? Well, she’s been aware of Ken’s cross-dressing for 25 years and is totally comfortable with it. She joins him/her (when she’s Sarah) for nights out together and enjoys these times as much as if they were going down the local as ‘normal’.

EVONNE is 24, a ‘stunna’ with long dark hair down her back, olive sun-tanned skin which is accentuated by her off-the shoulder top. She has a smile as wide as the English Channel and is marrying Greg next year, whom she met at university. She is the nicest person (apart from me!) you could wish to meet and I’m privileged to know her.

SO WHAT? Well, Evonne has just recovered from four years of chemotherapy, surviving lung cancer whilst at Uni. Her long hair is a wig but you would never know it because she doesn’t broadcast it – it’s ‘not normal’ to have lost your hair so young. Our evening out was a celebration of Evonne’s new life after so much turmoil at such a young age – now doesn’t that put things into perspective?!

Next to Evonne is SARAH, this time a blonde ‘stunna’ who works for a music company. She writes, composes, sings and records her own music and has men falling at her feet.

SO WHAT? Sarah is a life-long Spurs fan, a season ticket holder who goes to all the home matches at White Hart Lane (and some away matches too) and she can talk football with the best of them (what a catch for us alpha-males?!). But this isn’t ‘normal’ for beautiful girls to be able to explain the Offside Rule…… is it?

Next is LIZ who is 22 and Evonne’s sister. She is another beauty who doesn’t realise it (how cool is that?!). She just happens to be in fancy dress as a nun (albeit with a bottle of Smirnoff Ice in her hand!) and never realised how many guys would hit on her dressed like that! It’s ‘not normal’ to go out on a non-fancy dress night in fancy dress!

And then there’s KATHY. I’ve been cross-dressing since I was 7 in some shape or form, and I’m now totally comfortable celebrating every opportunity to ‘be me’. I’m a heterosexual male (cross-dresser, transvestite, tranny, transgender person, call it whatever you want) who is totally happy with how and who I am in both male and female modes. I am not Transsexual (I love being a guy, just as much as I love and revere women), do not want to ‘transition’, and do not dress to attract men or fancy men when I’m ‘en femme’ – in fact women talk to me more openly when I’m ‘one of the girls’ and we have some fantastic discussions that I would never have if I was ‘normal’! I have played sport to a high level and worked in a high pressure male-dominated industry where I reached a very senior level, and I’m also delighted to spend all night talking about shoes, frocks and makeup, and shoes again!

The moral of the story?

Each person in the photo (names have been changed, apart from mine, to protect the innocent!) has been courageous enough to be themselves and challenged ‘normality’.

The team at Femesque can help anyone on their courageous adventure to find the person they REALLY want to be – I love the word ‘really’ because it challenges you to delve deep and be honest with yourself. And if you’d like to chat in more depth then I’d be delighted to do so and help wherever I can – I’m also a good listener and qualified as a practitioner of NLP (that’s Neuro Linguistic Programming for those who’ve never heard of it – no room here to go into more detail but I’d be pleased to talk about it more on another occasion).

I’m going to sign off with a few more of my favourite quotes that I hope you also enjoy:

“Don’t worry, things only seem kinky the first time.”

“Life’s too short not to be happy.”

“Life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting ‘Holy Shit… What a ride!’”

“And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.” (Friedrich Nietzsche)

“Live your best life. Dream big. Live fully.” (Oprah Winfrey)

And finally:

“There is more to be learned from wearing a dress for a day, than there is from wearing a suit for a life.” (Larry Mitchell)

Have fun, you have my deepest respect for taking this journey. Get in touch with us if you need to.

Big Hugs and Best Wishes

Kathy

xx

It took me some years to accept it fully but I am a cross-dresser. It’s not a word I particularly like and there are others like transvestite, tranny, etc, but cross-dresser is about the best. It’s a useful label and you know immediately what I enjoy doing.

I entered cross-dressing into Google. I have done that regularly in the past, but this time up flashed the Femesque link which led into this website, so if you know anything at all about cross-dressers you will readily understand that I would be immediately attracted by all the pink and feathers and lippy and heels and glamorous women. If you are now looking at the team and what they offer and you are a cross-dresser or even had thoughts about what it might be like to try out cross-dressing, and you are asking yourself, “Should I or shouldn’t I?”, do not hesitate; make contact! The people at Femesque are even nicer than they appear on the website.

Let me tell you about my own experience. Three or four weeks ago, wondering whether or not to take the plunge, I finally did make contact, first by email then by telephone and talked about how they could help me to choose and buy a wig, a critical purchase and something I’d only had limited success with in the past. It’s only really possible to do successfully when made up and wearing the right clothes.

So there I was in a leafy part of Aldershot weighed down with a bag of clothes and shoes, sounding the reassuring avon-calling doorbell chimes. Nicky took me into a room where I changed and had some tea. As I lay on a dentist’s type of chair she worked her magic on my face and believe me it needs magic. I suppose there are more pleasurable experiences in life than having one’s face, eyes and lips patted and powdered and painted by an expert who enjoys what she does, quietly chatting away as she works, but I can’t think of any.

But that wasn’t all. Lynne had collected some wigs she thought might suit. She tried a few out explaining why some styles and colours worked for me and why some didn’t. After we had made a choice she trimmed the wig and layered it. Then the big surprise – she took me into her hairdressing salon, a separate part of her business, and put rollers in my new hair! She sat me under the dryer with some women’s magazines and turned on the blower. That was a wonderfully feminine activity and one I had never dreamt of experiencing. When she had removed the rollers and teased my hair into shape I felt gorgeous.

Femesque is in a nice part of Aldershot. The premises match the attractiveness of their website – clean, modern and bright with a well cared-for, sheltered garden. What made the day for me was the team. After all cross-dressers want to be accepted as normal (whatever that is) human beings, and Nicky and Lynne treated me in the same way as the women who go to their salon, as though it is completely natural. There’s not the slightest hint of anything judgmental in their demeanor, rather the reverse, encouraging me to achieve the optimum feminine appearance. They are skilled in what they do, with the confidence to say what suits and importantly what doesn’t. They also enjoy what they do – which makes such a difference. And they are themselves attractive!

Have I been over-enthusiastic? No!
Don’t hesitate!
Make contact!

We all want to look as realistic as possible and all have our own ways of creating our feminine silhouette. Concealing the male anatomical kit to create a realistic female shape is very important to me. Over the years I have scoured the internet and tried out the following methods. My first venture out en femme I used surgical tape, tucking and taping. This hid the bits but was far from comfy. I then progressed and tried gaffs, panty girdles and M and S shaping pants. All managed to conceal the bits but all had advantages and disadvantages. I wanted more realism.

Onto the internet again and a whole new world opened up. For a price you could buy very realistic rubber and latex forms. These were tied, taped or glued into place and looked really realistic. Many top TG performers wore them; they totally concealed everything down below. I wanted one but not at the prices asked. Could I make something similar? Well as some of you know I’m involved in technology. Could latex be an option? It was worth a try. Well, after a lot of research, testing, modelling, prototyping, making moulds and evaluating a solution for me seemed possible. A latex shaper was created. How would it fit? Would it be comfy? How long could I wear it for? Do I have a latex allergy? All these questions needed answers. I must say I was really pleased. The device is glued to me with medical adhesive, the same as I use on my silicone breast forms. One has to prepare before hand by removing hair either by waxing or hair removal creams as women use. I do use the delicate area cream! Is it comfy? Yes, I have worn it for 5 days when I lived enfemme in Brighton staying in a hotel. All bodily functions are normal. How to stay fresh between the legs all day long was solved by my very supportive wife! Wear a femme product, a panty liner! Well you want to be more of a woman and experience female things, don’t you? It was strange the first time I showered with latex breasts and concealed tackle but it was really liberating. It felt so natural! You have to wee as a woman sitting down. It even sounds the same!

Who has seen me in this, my wife! I’m no longer the man she married! Lynne after our Burlesque photo shoot and a shop assistant in BHS Guildford. I wanted a swim suit for my week away and needed some help. I explained to the shop manager that I cross dressed .She was very understanding and helpful and helped me chose some swim wear. Her only stipulation was to see me in them. Was I ok for this? When she saw me she was staggered at the silhouette. Where were the bits? Totally realistic and convincing. We had quite a chat about transgender issues and the art of cross dressing.

Well, I can now wear sexy undies and swim suits, figure hugging skirts and trousers without any cares or worries or fear of embarrassing moments. Brighton beach was a liberating experience. My latex femme form is a part of me. There is no stopping me now.

Well, I have just had my first Pink Boa experience and just wanted to thank Lynne and her team for a really wonderful day. It started with a facial and massage which I found very relaxing, followed by a manicure and pedicure. It was delightful to chat with Claire whilst she prepared my nails, this really put me at ease and it was nice to hear her describe Lynne’s team as being like a family. Nicky then took over and did a fantastic job with my make-up followed by Lynne providing a beautiful wig. Looking in the mirror with just the make-up and wig on I immediately felt my slim body was female! Nicky then helped provide advice on the clothes that I had brought with me and showed me some in the Femesque wardrobe. After many changes of clothes we settled on two outfits for the photo shoot. We started with a black corset and very feminine lacy frilled skirt. I felt absolutely wonderful wearing them. Nicky then helped me get into feminine poses for the photos, she knew exactly how to get the best looks, and we took lots of photos. I was quite disappointed when I had to take off the corset and skirt as I was so comfortable in them that I felt I should be going to a party to show off the outfit! Anyway, I changed into a light summer dress and cardigan that Nicky had suggested, it felt so elegant and flowing. Quite different clothes to the corset but also so very feminine. I could easily imagine myself outside on a summers day in this outfit. We then took more photos before having to change back into my male clothes. The care that Nicky took in ensuring the poses were right shined through in the photos. The whole day was wonderful and Lynne’s team are all so friendly and helpful. Lynne’s home and salon is in a quiet, attractive, residential area, and her home is bright, modern and clean which again made me feel very comfortable. By the end of the day I already felt this was a second home full of friends who accepted and welcomed my need to express my femininity. I feel I will be visiting Femesque for many years to come. I would definitely recommend Femesque for anyone looking for a pampering and photo shoot experience. Love Martina xxx

In 2006 a lady called Rhonda Byrne wrote about ‘The Secret’ (of success), the essence of which was The Law Of Attraction. Nowadays, if you Google ‘The Law Of Attraction’ you are likely to be presented with 5.4 million entries.

It states “That which is like into itself is drawn”, or in simple terms, the vibrations or essence of what we give out are always matched by the universe and returned to us.

What the heck has this got to do with me as a Cross-Dresser? SO WHAT?, I hear you say!

Well, here we go…… how many times have you felt terrified of what other people will think of you as a Cross-Dresser, Transvestite, ‘Tranny’? If you ever venture outside (and I know that for every Cross-Dresser who takes the massive step of leaving their house in female attire, there are probably 100’s, maybe 1,000’s who don’t!), you may be in constant turmoil about ‘being read’. For those new to the scene this is the term for being recognised as a man attempting to pass in public as a woman. Those inner voices are screaming:

Did he notice me?

What is she thinking about how I look?

Do I look ridiculous?

Am I walking right?

Am I dressed appropriately?

Is my hair and make-up OK?

Will anyone I know notice me?

Did the neighbours see me when I left the house?

How will I get back in unnoticed?

I know all this because I’ve heard those same voices ever since I first ventured out at the age of about 15! The only people who post letters at midnight are transvestites!

Let’s say right now: “If you think you’re being read as a Cross-Dresser, then you probably are”!

I’m sure we’re all hyper-sensitive and have heard the whisper (or heckle) “I’m sure that’s a bloke – hey, Tranny!”? But you know what ……. SO WHAT?!

Did you know that we are each exposed to 2 million bits of experience per second, of which our brains can only process 134?! So, all these thoughts which are running through your head are difficult to control and one of the simplest rules of success we can abide by as Cross-Dressers is this:

“Control the things you CAN control. And if you can’t control things, then change the way you think about them.”

The one thing in life that no one else can control is your thoughts and your thoughts ultimately influence your behaviour. Therefore, THINK GOOD THINGS, because positive thoughts WILL lead to positive results (and negative thoughts WILL lead to negative results!). Our subconscious mind is at the root of our being and it doesn’t differentiate between the positive and negative, it will just do what you tell it to do regardless, and so why not focus on the positive?!

Why not start right now by appreciating how LUCKY (yes LUCKY!) you are to feel the need to cross-dress? Whoa, that’s a bit of a dodgy thought, I hear you say!

Where you may have felt shame, feel proud. When you’re uncertain, feel secure.

Secure in the knowledge that you’re not the only one who feels the need to cross-dress (and you certainly won’t be the last!). Proud that you’re more sensitive than the ‘average Joe’ to Joanne’s feelings. For example, isn’t it one of the greatest feelings in the world to take your high shoes off after a night out? Your ‘average Joe’ will never get to experience that feeling or be able to share that insight with a woman! Here’s another one, have you ever noticed a girl’s label on her top is showing, told her, asked if it’s OK to help tuck it back in and then seen the smile on her face and sense of relief that you’ve helped her? How brilliant is that?! I do it all the time!

And Femesque is one secure place where you are truly able to be your brilliant self – all the girls are sensitive to your thoughts and feelings, without you feeling patronised. You can feel safe in the knowledge that your best interests are at the heart of everything Femesque does (hair, make-up, dressing advice, personal support – you name it), all in a warm, genuine, welcoming and honest environment where no one will judge you inappropriately.

The route to success as a convincing female (which, let’s be honest, is what all Cross-Dressers ultimately want to achieve) will take you through a number of stages:

Absolute and honest Self-Awareness

Unconditional Self-Acceptance and Acknowledgement

Ultimate Celebration of who you want to be and what you want to do

In fact this is the route to success in life regardless of whether you cross-dress or not!

Just remember that if you want help along the way, any way, just ask and it will be provided because The Law Of Attraction does work. Or ……… forever hold your piece (sorry, peace)!

Happy Days & Big Hugs to all!

Kathy

xx

Like many of you I have been crossdressing for many years. My first trip out dressed was to a fancy dress party when I was a student as a dare. Two girlfriends suggested I would look good dressed as a woman and offered to dress me up. Was I up for it? Well with some trepidation I agreed to the dare. Both girls insisted I removed body hair to look as passable and realistic as possible. A razor and Immac Cream did the job. To my surprise I really enjoyed the experience of feeling really smooth all over. With my tackle secured with surgical tape I slipped on their matching lacy panties, padded bra, tights and under slip. I was then fully made up, a wig put on my head and then their outer clothes. I wore high heels, short leather skirt, pink top and jacket. Luckily Jenny’s high heels fitted really well. Walking was a different story. Not easy! This was complemented by jewellery and accessories. Amanda was born. I was shocked when I saw my reflection in the mirror.

To my horror they then insisted that we went for a drink in a local pub before the party. It was my first adventure out in public! Nobody recognised me or batted an eyelid. At the party friends were amazed at how convincing I looked. I felt great! Amanda had a few more university outings but then came work. She went dormant for a few years.

Over the years things have taken off. I now have a wife and family. Again a fancy dress party reared its head. My wife and a girl friend of hers suggested I would make a good looking woman. Little did she know! I loved the idea and went along with it. Again the full works! After the party the floodgates opened. I did not want to take the clothes off. We talked for most of the night. Was I gay? Did I want a sex change? No. Why did you not tell me? You’re not the man I married. It was a shock but she has supported me fully. I’m very fortunate to have her. She does not want to get actively involved. She lets me dress at home and go out regularly with the proviso that if a going out in public I must look as convincing as possible. We go out several times a year as two girls. Achieving my female persona has been far easier than I thought possible. Honesty and openness have greatly helped. I approached a local beauty salon in male mode and explained my desire to dress regularly as a woman and create a feminine image. “No problem” was the answer. “How far do you want to go? A full body wax arms, legs and chest was suggested along with eyebrow waxing and shaping. Was I up for it? Yes I was! The girls who ran the salon wanted to see Amanda dressed. Was I up for that? Yes again was the answer. A date was booked for the following week and Amanda emerged smooth and shaped. The finished results were slightly painful but really worth it. The girls recommended I purchased an Epi Lady and wet shaved to keep smooth. The combination works really well.

So what came next? I started to wear silicone breasts glued to me chest and hip and bottom pads. Concealing my male parts more realistically proved fun and a real challenge. I’m involved in technology and have been able to make a latex rubber female anatomical form which is glued in place using Hollister medical adhesive. This looks, feels and makes me function like a woman. It can be worn all day. Even my wife is amazed at the illusion. It’s very convincing and hides everything. Similar devices are available on line.

Correct under clothing is very important. For years I have used Marks and Spencer’s, La Sensa and local Lingerie shops. Correct measuring and fitting is freely available. Everyone I have met has been very helpful and supportive. Realistic results can be achieved.

Make up was my next priority. Luckily I have fair hair and light beard cover. Beauty counters and make over in High Street stores helped develop my look. Hair came next. Wigs on line! Not a total success. The internet and some issues with styling, colour and maintenance! Finally Amanda never goes out without false nails, earings, jewellery, perfume and accessories.

Clothing and image are very important to me. Amanda is an educated professional, just like her male counterpart. She likes the smart professional look. I’m lucky to be a size 14-16 and have small feet size 40. Local dress agencies are brilliant. I’ve used them for many years. The women who own them have become friends. Also, local boutiques are more than happy to let you try on clothes. Again always be open and honest. Your money is as good as anyone’s. Amanda has never had a problem using her male credit or debit cards. She now has a full summer and winter wardrobe. So there we have it. It takes me an hour to an hour and a half to become Amanda. Where does she go? Anywhere and everywhere, day and night, weekends and weeks away fully en femme. Any excuse I’m dressed and away.

Well the story is not quite finished. I had problems with my wigs and phoned up numerous local hair salons. Friction burns due to car seat belts. This is quite common. Nobody could help until I contacted Lynne. She was brilliant. I explained myself and she said she could help. She was happy for me to visit en femme or male mode. She soon sorted my wigs out and quickly we became friends. Many of you have witnessed her skills and talents at hair demonstrations we have done at local TG meets Fabuliss, at Liphook and the Surrey Swans at Ash.

This has now developed into Femesque. We can offer all the beauty treatments you need to look as convincing as possible. We use top make up from Charles Fox in London. Wigs can be purchased, trimmed or tamed. Lingerie and shape wear look on our links under Cross dressing Lingerie. We are a one stop business for all your Crossdressing needs and desires. I wish Femesque was going years ago. My Crossdressing journey would have been quicker and easier. Give us a try!! You won’t be disappointed!!

Amanda xx
