Introducing the New Aesthetics Report

We’ve redesigned our Aesthetics Report to make it more intuitive and actionable.

The new report (with Memory heatmap) will go live during February 2026.

The old report (with Balance lines) is deprecated and will be obsolete on September 1st 2026.

The previous report focused on vertical and horizontal balance metrics. While technically accurate, these indicators were often hard to interpret and didn’t clearly explain what to change in an image.

The updated report now centers on visual memorability, combining a clear Memory Score with an easy-to-read Memory Heatmap.

The heatmap shows how attention is distributed across the image:

Red – Highly noticeable and memorable areas
Yellow – Medium memorability
Blue – Low memorability

Instead of abstract balance values, the new report shows what viewers actually will remember. This makes it easier to validate focal points, reduce visual competition, and optimize layouts with confidence.

The result is a more human-centered, actionable aesthetic analysis designed to support real creative decisions.

The "Overall Score" is a composite metric that represents the total visual effectiveness of the entire image. It combines multiple attention-based scores - Visibility, Focus, Clarity, and Exciting -

into a single, easy-to-compare value.

The score reflects how well the image captures attention, maintains visual focus, and delivers clear and engaging content overall

The value ranges from 0 to 100.

Above 75 is excellent. The image is highly noticeable and engaging.
Between 50–75 is good. The image attracts a moderate level of attention.
Under 25 is low. The image is not drawing meaningful attention.

It’s professionally designed and visually striking — but what exactly draws the viewer’s attention first? We’ll start by uploading the original Ad to the AI assistant. We ask the assistant to: "Analyze the design and provide pros, cons, and suggestions for improvement." Even without additional data, the assistant can already offer an initial analysis. Let’s review some of the assistant’s feedback. "The visual gag—Pepsi “wearing” a Coca-Cola costume for Halloween—creates an unexpected twist. Neuroscience research shows that surprises pique attention and boost retention, making the message more likely to stick in viewers’ minds." "The playful rivalry taps into humor, triggering positive emotional responses and dopamine release, which make people more likely to share or remember the ad." "Potential Brand Confusion. The Coca-Cola branding is visually dominant due to the cape’s bright red and large logo. " "Suggestions for Improvement. Consider pulling the “cape” back more to reveal more of the Pepsi can and logo. " The AI Assistant highlights key strengths in layout, contrast, and visual hierarchy. It also identifies potential areas of distraction and how to improve them. Next, we send the Feng-GUI heatmap report to the AI Assistant and the assistant to update its feedback based on the heatmap. "Attached is an analysis report of the design. Please update your earlier feedback using this report. Revise the pros, cons, and suggestions based on the visual attention data shown in the report." Now, the assistant refines its insights using real attention data — highlighting hot zones and gaze patterns. "The heatmap reveals that viewers’ attention is overwhelmingly focused on the front of the can, with hot spots evenly distributed between the “Coca-Cola” cape and the central “Pepsi” logo." The Assistant confirms that the central area in the ad receives most of the attention. saying that "The focal point draws immediate attention to the most conceptually important area—the can and the costume. * To begin with, input names, use alphanumeric characters. Otherwise, Feng-GUI will translate the file name into a unique alphanumeric characters file name. So to avoid that, just use English characters and numbers and dash and that's it. And this way, Feng-GUI will preserve your original file name.

* Dimensions, input dimensions. So you don't want the input to be too small and you don't want the input to be too high. We have the recommended input size for images and for videos. If we take a look here at an example of an image which is too small, you may see that the image is almost the size of the legend overlay that we have here. And here is an example of an image with the proper dimensions. If we compare them side by side, you can see that the results are slightly different. Avoid using too small dimensions of an image or too large. Too large will cause no negative impact, only a little bit about performance.

* Quality of the image and the video. Use only high quality and lossless compression. So don't compress your video or images too much. Otherwise you will get artifacts that are changing the image. As a result will also change the analysis report. Lossless compression, PNG and MP4 with 100% quality.

* Product and package images. You should prefer landscape and square images. And add at least 10% of blank margin around the product. In this example the product is covering the entire image, which is not so good. You should leave at least 10% of space around the product. This is a good example. this is a good example, the product has some white space around it and the analysis is better.

* A few tips about website input. We do have the upload web address but you should avoid it and just use your own snapshot that you create by yourself because it gives you more control of how the input image looks like. So some examples. So this is a good example of a web page image. You see that only the content of the web page is being analyzed and this is what you want to take a snapshot of, only the content of the web page. This is a bad example because in this example the image analyzed also contains the the toolbar and some artifacts of the browser and you don't want to analyze them. Only the content of the web page should be analyzed.

This is another bad example. Obviously we don't see the entire web page at once so don't take a snapshot of the entire web page and analyze it. If you want to analyze all the web page from top to bottom either take different snapshots of the page or more easy and better approach is to take a video of navigating the web page and browsing through the web page and analyze this video in Feng-GUI. This will enable you more smooth transition and also enable you to record and analyze animation if there are or videos if they are in the web page.

* Always prefer images which are landscape and horizontal because this is how we see the world and avoid analyzing pictures which are vertical and portrait because this is not how we see things. If this is what you have if that's the only image that you have so you can analyze it but if you are taking the picture outdoor or indoor so prefer taking landscape images obviously.
