This week I’m presenting something new called The Style & Energy Journal, where every month (or so, you know me ;)), I’ll explore the relationship between beauty, atmosphere, environments and the way they affect us.

For the inauguration of this joyous event, I want to talk about a very prevalent concept that I have seen during the 20+ years I’ve been working in Feng Shui, interiors, design and beauty. When people think of luxury, Feng Shui, energy, design, their minds automatically goes to the editorial photos of the magazine Real Simple or my made up magazine called, “Minimalist Quarterly.”

To illustrate this some more, let’s talk about 2023. It wasn’t that long ago, but it seems like eons ago, right? If you were in NYC, do you remember that weird moment right after Covid, when we were able to finally leave our homes again and roam the streets? I remember it very clearly since I was overjoyed to be able to have more freedom in my daily activities. But, when I looked around, weirdly everything had suddenly become beige. Furthermore, the general population decided that they weren’t going to easily let go of their business casual-casual attire.

Then I think it may have been Instagram or some other lovely platform (detect my snarkiness?) that so powerfully convinced everyone that Quiet Luxury was all the rage and which meant a complete obliteration of color. Hence, the period what I dubbed, Nouveau Beige. I looked up from my Flat White (also beige), and was like, omg, when did I move to Scandinavia? Sorry Scandinavia. As I have yet to visit that part of the world, this was my narrow-minded perspective of our friends – minimal, efficient, non-aggressive and unobtrusive presence. My loud, extroverted NYC mind was flabberghasted.

And it got me thinking, there have been many people who I met in my career have been touched by this Beige Paradox. Don’t get me wrong, if you love minimalism and the color beige, go for it. No shade here. But what I have experienced more often is how people envision “perfect” Feng Shui and ultimate balance as uncluttered, simple, basic, light….beige. The epitome of nothingness.

And before all my maximalists panic and think I’m asking you to suddenly become a minimalist monk with one sad beige bowl and a linen sofa, absolutely not. Here is where my witty (I like to think), Susan-the-maximalist commentary comes in. No. Don’t do that, as my dear friend Lenio’s niece said when she was 4.

Don’t reduce yourself to a beige blip in the name of so-called Feng Shui calm. There are many ways to create calm while still keeping color, texture, books, objects, personality and visual richness. Some people actually feel more emotionally alive and creatively supported in layered environments. The goal of the Feng Shui work that we do together is not to erase yourself in the name of calm. The goal is to create an environment that supports YOU.

We are not all the same and there’s such beauty in that. Each one of us responds to things differently – people, food, sounds, environments, and we need to respect that. At the beginning of my Feng Shui career, and even now, many people ask if I help them style their home a certain way, like with gold embracing swans. Uh, no. If you like that, we can, but there is no one equation to style, or Feng Shui, for that matter.

What I have always told my clients and still to this day is – show up to your space with the curiosity to know who YOU are, what makes you feel good, what inspires you, excites you when you need energy, what nurtures you when you want down time. Then knowing this, then we get down to work to construct an environment around you that reflects that. Many people think it’s just their homes but I see environment as the whole she-bang – your home, your workspace, your job that you do every.single.day, your partner, your friends, your hobbies, your wardrobe. Everything is connected.

So today’s journal entry is to celebrate YOU. To not just celebrate Quiet Luxury or Merry Maximalism, but whatever makes YOU feel good.

Here’s some fun weekend-warrior homework: Take this weekend to go through your things. Find what makes you feel happy or inspired. Or both. Don’t think about what it looks like. Think about HOW it makes you feel. And then keep going. And going. When you’re tired or done, pat yourself on the back, tell yourself that your space, your life, your environment is a reflection of you, and nobody else. You’re not here to be anyone else but yourself and only you know who that is.

The other day, I felt really annoyed. I was in my apartment working and suddenly everything started irritating me, which honestly annoyed me even more because technically nothing was wrong. My apartment wasn’t dirty, nobody had upset me, work was fine. Life was fine and yet I felt like my entire body couldn’t relax in my own home.

Then I looked around and realized something. My eyes had nowhere to rest.

There were piles I kept moving from one surface to another pretending they didn’t exist, open shelves that looked cute at one point but now just felt visually busy, random papers everywhere and a chair in my bedroom that had quietly become both a closet and emotional support system. Even my lighting suddenly felt aggressive.

What I realized is that this is something I’ve done my whole life without realizing it was connected to Feng Shui. Annoyed? Clean my family’s bathroom. Bored? Dust the bottles in my parents’ liquore store. Distracted? Go through the piles and shred papers.

Whenever I feel stressed, overwhelmed, emotionally off, creatively blocked or mentally overloaded, the first thing I instinctively want to do is clean, reorganize, purge, reset or rearrange my environment. Not in a perfectionist Martha Stewart kind of way, but energetically. Somehow the second my apartment starts feeling calmer, clearer and lighter, my brain does too.

So here’s what I did. I gave myself a designated amount of time and started calming my environment. I washed and put away dishes, wiped down surfaces, ran the duster and vacuum quickly. Then I took the many piles around my apartment (yes I have those too), put Post-its on what the next step was for each pile and neatly stacked them to tackle another time.

And almost immediately, I felt better. Lighter, happier and more focused. Not because my apartment suddenly became perfect, but because the energy changed. You may not realize how powerful your environment is, but it has the ability to magically calm you down or sneakily rile you up without you even noticing.

I started thinking about how many women do this without fully realizing why. We suddenly decide we need to reorganize a closet, deep clean the kitchen, throw everything out, move furniture around or spend an entire Sunday resetting our apartments like our lives depend on it. And honestly, sometimes energetically, it kind of does.

This is also why I’ve always laughed a little when people assume Feng Shui is just about decorating, moving furniture around or adding a plant to the wealth corner. Nope, according to how I use Feng Shui, this work is so much deeper than that. Your environment constantly affects your energy whether you realize it or not. The lighting, the visual interruptions, the piles, the clutter, the unfinished things, the colors, the textures, the noise, the way your eyes move through a room… all of it affects how you feel inside your home.

And before everyone suddenly thinks I’m suggesting we all become minimalists with one beige candle and a floor pillow, absolutely not. I actually love layered environments, books, objects, color, texture and personality. Some people feel calmer and more emotionally supported in spaces that feel collected and visually rich. The goal is not perfection or emptiness. The goal is to create an environment that supports YOU instead of quietly draining you every day.

In my experience, some of the calmest homes I’ve ever walked into were not minimalist at all. They just had personality, style, a soul. The eye knew where to land, and the energy felt supportive instead of chaotic.

Many people underestimate how much their environment affects them because we’ve normalized functioning while overstimulated. We keep pushing through, keep producing, keep handling things and eventually stop noticing that our homes are exhausting us too. So the next time, you feel distracted, irritated, annoyed, bored, or (fill in the emotion) and get the urge to clean. Do it. Just be sure that you set your time for a specific amount of time and that you match the task to the time you give it. I don’t want you creating another messy thing to tackle later and feel worse.

So now I’m curious. When you suddenly feel the urge to clean, reorganize or throw your entire apartment away, is it really about being productive, or are you actually trying to change your energy?

Need some help figuring out what to tackle first? Leave a comment and/or ask a question. I, or this community will be happy to help!

One thing I’ve noticed about ambitious women is that when life gets busy, the first thing that usually falls apart is not her work life. It’s the relationship with herself and the environment that supports her.

And the thing is, it usually happens so slowly and sneakily that she barely notices.

The beautiful corner of her apartment where she regularly placed fresh flowers becomes a dumping ground for unopened packages and laundry. The candle that once made her feel centered sits untouched for months. Her home starts becoming less of a place that nourishes her and more of a place that she simply passes through while taking care of everyone and everything else.

This is because ambitious women are exceptionally good at functioning. Sometimes too good.

Even when exhausted, she’ll keep showing up and producing. She’ll keep attending to clients, deadlines, family, partners, friends, responsibilities and the endless mental tabs open in the background. After a while, the environment that once nourished her emotionally slowly either becomes neglected or, even worse, a storage unit where she just crashes.

I see this all the time in Feng Shui work.

She starts believing something is wrong with her because suddenly she no longer has the energy or desire for the nourishing rituals that once made her feel rejuvenated, restored and more like herself again. You know what I’m talking about — the massage, the flowers you buy for no reason, the evening candlelit meditation or journaling. The little things that once helped you reconnect to yourself slowly begin disappearing.

Not because she doesn’t want them anymore, but because she’s completely exhausted and the first person she stops tending to is herself.

And unknowingly, many ambitious women normalize pouring their energy outward without pouring nearly enough back into themselves. They become so accustomed to functioning in survival mode that they stop noticing how disconnected they’ve become from the environments that once supported them emotionally.

But as I always say, the environment tells the story first. Your home reflects what’s happening internally long before you consciously realize it.

Your home is not separate from you. It’s deeply connected to your nervous system, emotional life and sense of self whether you consciously recognize that connection or not.

Yup guys… this is exactly how I see and use Feng Shui.

This is exactly why I believe Feng Shui is so much deeper than aesthetics. Our environments quietly reveal what we’ve normalized emotionally, mentally and energetically long before we consciously notice it ourselves.

I’m less interested in perfection and more interested in whether your environment is still supporting the woman you are becoming… or whether it has quietly become another place where you abandon yourself.

So now I’m curious… what is your environment quietly telling you right now?

My plan last weekend was to change my closets from winter to summer, purge what I haven’t been wearing and figure out what still really feels like “me.” Well, I failed miserably at that seasonal task.

The plan was actually quite simple. Put away winter clothes, bring out spring and summer things, make a donation pile, reorganize a bit, run to the tailor and feel accomplished and polished by Sunday night. Instead, I somehow managed to weasel my way out of it (thankfully sudden Parisian rain and temperature dips certainly helped my case), and I spent most of the weekend lying on my sofa reading and thinking about all the things I “should” have been doing instead.

At first, I felt guilty about it. Me! the person who consistantly says hell no! to guilt and encourages my clients to retire this dreadful G word altogether.

But after sitting with it for a bit, I realized something important. It wasn’t really about my closets.

Yes, part of me genuinely wants to clean with Marie Kondo gusto, but another part of me knew very clearly that I simply didn’t have the bandwidth last weekend to take on such a big energetic task. And instead of forcing myself through it just to feel productive and accomplished, my body chose rest. Yes, I said it. Now take a moment and let that land.

Honestly, I think this is something many high-achieving women struggle with.

We are so used to overriding ourselves in the name of productivity, discipline and keeping everything together beautifully that we rarely stop to ask ourselves a much more important question:

Do I actually have the energy for this right now?

Not “should” I do it, or “could” I do it.
But do I genuinely have the energetic capacity to tackle this project well? And on top of it, with joy, gusto and play?

Those are very different questions.

What I’ve noticed through Feng Shui over the years is that your environment starts speaking to you long before your mind catches up. Sometimes the urge to clean, purge or reorganize is more about wanting more movement, clarity or a reset. But sometimes the resistance itself is also information.

My body said it last weekend and I listened, “whoa, slow down. Not yet. One thing at a time and do only what makes you feel good. You’ll thank me later”. And I trusted and came out stronger on the other end.

Spring creates a lot of pressure because suddenly everything around us becomes active again. Sunnier skies, social invitations and our schedules start filling up and we feel this underlying pressure to get organized, optimized and to become a shinier version of ourselves overnight. Meanwhile, some of us are still tired. And honestly? That deserves some respect too.

So no, my closets are still not done. There are still piles waiting for me and my summer dresses are currently fighting for space with sweaters. But instead of judging myself for not completing the task last weekend, I’ve decided to approach it differently this weekend.

I’m going to change over my seasonal closets with energy, joy, intention and compassion for myself. And take pride in knowing that I honored my capacity and that now I get to reap the rewards.

Yes, Feng Shui is about creating environments that are beautiful and nurturing to you, but it’s also about learning how to work with your energy instead of constantly working against it.

And sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is stop forcing yourself to perform productivity while your entire system is quietly asking for something else.

I don’t know about you, but my mind is saying “yay spring” while my body is saying, “absolutely not.”

Over the past few weeks, I’ve noticed myself feeling more tired than usual. Not just physically tired, but mentally exhausted and slightly overwhelmed in a way that felt hard to explain. At first, I thought maybe it was allergies, then maybe too much socializing, then maybe the pressure of trying to get my closets turned over for spring/summer. But the more I sat with it, the more I realized that Spring itself creates a very specific kind of energetic pressure that I don’t hear spoken about often, if at all.

Because Spring is not just a season. It’s visibility and expansion after months of Winter contraction, and suddenly everything starts demanding our attention all at once.

And with the added energy of the Fire Horse year, there is even more activation around movement, visibility, momentum and doing. It can feel exciting at first after coming out of the dark and cold Winter, but it can also become very dysregulating, very quickly.

Our social calendars start filling up and as the weather gets nicer, we feel guilty staying home. It’s textbook FoMo. Windows are opened and suddenly our apartments feel cluttered. Spring cleaning is promoted everywhere. Urgh.

At the same time, many of us are also navigating much bigger transitions such as career changes, divorce, motherhood, empty nesting, new relationships, reinvention and new versions of ourselves trying to emerge. So while our minds are excited by the idea of Spring, another part of us is quietly sitting there thinking, “man, this is a lot.”

Most people think they’re tired because they need more motivation, more discipline or a better strategy, but what I often see through Feng Shui is that the environment is no longer supporting the season of life they are stepping into.

Winter allows us to hide a little more, while Spring reveals things. It reveals clutter, stagnation, what no longer fits and what we’ve outgrown. Sometimes it reveals just how overstimulated and overextended we’ve actually become.

I can always tell when this shift starts happening because suddenly we get the urge to clean, purge, open windows, move furniture and change things around. We think we are just “Spring cleaning,” but what we are often really looking for is relief – space, air, movement. Something to make us feel better.

Our environments either help hold us through these transitions or sneakily add more cacophony to an already overwhelmed system.

And I think this is especially important for powerful women because we tend to put enormous pressure on ourselves normally, but even more during seasons of expansion and transition. We think we should be energized by Spring and be productive and social. We try to hold the fort down, keep our sh*%t together, all while trying to step into the next level of our lives. Then we wonder why we suddenly feel exhausted while everything around us looks shiny and full of possibility.

So maybe your exhaustion is not a sign that something is wrong with you. Maybe it’s a sign that your environments, schedules and lives are asking for a different kind of support as you move into a new season.

Before you force yourself into another productivity spiral this spring, take a look around your environment and ask yourself a different question:

Does my environment actually support the person I am becoming right now?

Because Feng Shui is not just about making things look pretty. Feng Shui is about creating environments that support your energy, your clarity and your life. And sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is not push harder, but create an environment that finally allows your shoulders to untense, your nervous system to exhale and allow yourself to simply sit by that open window without guilt.

There’s a phenomenon I’m seeing around me right now, and it has me concerned. Almost every conversation I’ve had over the past few weeks, whether it’s with clients, friends or even in passing, has somehow circled back to the same topic: Boundaries, or more specifically, the lack of them.

People are feeling tired, overextended, unable to hold their own limits, and end up feeling exhausted or resentful.

And I’m not excluded from this equation either. I recently went on a trip and I could feel very clearly when my energy was replenishing itself, and then just as clearly, the moments where it wasn’t. It was quite remarkable. If I wasn’t an Energy Whisperer by trade, I could have easily fallen into the pressure of people pleasing and forfeiting what I know I need to have the maximum energy to feel good.

So that’s exactly the part I want you to really hear. This process of boundary setting isn’t random, and it’s not something that just happens once in a while. The opportunities to exercise this boundary muscle show up in very specific ways, and once you start to recognize them, you begin to understand why your energy feels the way it does, and your energy shows up very clearly in your life and in the way others experience you.

So here are the 3 most frequent energy leaks:

1. When life gets busy

This leak is the one that feels the most innocent. It happens when life gets busy and everything feels easy to say yes to. Plans, invitations, things that seem harmless in the moment but slowly start to take up space. On the surface, it looks easy, breezy and fun. You don’t want to be the Debbie Downer, do you?

2. When people need you

This leak is a bit more complicated. It happens when people need you and it feels uncomfortable to say no, especially when you’re used to being the one who shows up, who holds, who takes care of things. This one is the hardest to manage because if you are a powerful woman, this is what is usually expected of you.

3. When you’re stepping up

This leak is the sneakiest. It is the leak that looks like growth on the surface, but can quietly drain you. It also happens when you are stepping into something bigger for yourself and you start overcommitting, saying yes to more than you can realistically hold because it feels aligned with the version of you that you are becoming.

There you have it – different situations, but the same result – drip, drip, drip, leak, leak, leak. Your energy starts to leak out slowly, in ways you don’t realize, through almost invisible leakages that add up over time and empty your energy tank.

I’m such a big proponent of energy preservation, containment and generation. I have experienced this firsthand, the effect that energy depletion has on my mental, emotional and physical health. No fun.

And this is exactly why last week’s ritual mattered as it was never about the rocks. It was about training your mind first and then your energy to stay where it belongs, even in those sneaky moments where it would normally cave in to saying yes when all you want to do is say no. Being a powerful woman means saying no unapologetically. A friend recently shared this golden nugget with me, “never complain, never explain.” A beaut, eh?

So let me ask you something, and be honest with yourself when you answer.

Did you do last week’s ritual?

Did you collect the stones, place them under your bed, and actually follow through, or did you just read it, think it was a good idea, and then move on?

There’s no judgment here, only information, because this is where a very big shift in your life has the potential to actually happen. This is your chance to get clear on your goals, your commitments and what you are actually willing to follow through on. Even when it’s simple and easy to dismiss.

If you are newly motivated to stop your energy from leaking and move towards your power, here’s last week’s ritual. When you’re done, leave a comment and tell me how it went or, if you have done it, how it’s going! Can’t wait to hear about it.

I’ve been giving you a lot of theory lately. When I call myself an Energy whisperer, I’m not saying that lightly. My work, my business, my life, what I teach, what I share, is a direct extraction of my own personal life.

Feng shui is about energy – how energy flows, what the quality of the energy is and if there is enough energy so that you can accomplish the things that you want to do.

I’ve lived in different cities and I’ve seen the effects of what different environments can do to my energy. But I will try to distill it down to one easy concept for you today.

Your energy is your most precious asset. Without your own personal energy, there is no power, no clarity. There is no gas in the tank to get to where you want to go.

This week, I’m going to share a powerful ritual with you. Be note, that it’s NOT to protect your energy, because I want to emphasize that don’t come from a fear-based perspective. You know my coined term, Feng Shui Paranoia.

So we don’t say protect our energy in my world. We say conserve your energy, optimize your energy or grow and cultivate more energy, as that is where your power is.

One very simple, difficult, yet very actionable way to tend to your energy on a weekly, daily, hourly basis is to take a look at your boundaries. I like to use the analogy of water, a very important element in Feng Shui. Imagine knocking over a glass of water and the water just goes all over the place. If you have powerful flowing stream and the dam breaks, the water just goes all over the place, and the water may cause mayhem.

So you want to take a look at your container of water, or, your boundaries. Think about your boundaries with yourself and with others. Do you give too much to others and take energy away from yourself? Do you speak when not asked, or not speak when you feel like you need to? (energy is overexpended or stagnates) Do others overstep your boundaries, and regret it after?

Being a powerful woman means having a very powerful and intentional container. Your container is not just about how much you can hold, but in what you’re willing to contain. Because without boundaries, your energy doesn’t stay with you, but goes everywhere else. And over time, that’s what starts to dilute your power.

Instead of overthinking it, I want to give you something you a powerful Feng Shui ritual that is very simple to do. So that you can set your intention around creating and maintaining healthy boundaries – not overstepping other people’s boundaries, and not allowing others to step over yours.

The Healthy Boundary Ritual

1. Go out into nature and collect 9 small rocks. 9 is a very auspicious number in Chinese metaphysics, representing completion and wholeness.
2. Bring the rocks home and place them under the bed where you sleep so they can start collecting your energy.
3. Leave them untouched for 9 days.
4. At the end of the 9 days, take the stones out and place them together on a plate, or anything you like, as long as they stay together.
5. Place them somewhere you will see often, your nightstand, your desk, or anywhere visible in your environment.
6. Visualize these powerful reminders as a healthy boundary, a container, a dam that allows your energy to stay where it needs to so it does not overflow or become stagnant.

Each time you see the stones, it becomes a reminder of having healthy boundaries and how you want to hold your energy. This is the work. Not just understanding your energy, but learning how to hold it. How to direct it. How to create an environment that supports it instead of scattering it.

Feng shui is about intention. This is not magic, but it is a form of rewiring of your brain. This is what I’ve been refining for years through my own life and through my work with clients. And it’s the foundation of everything I teach.

If this resonated with you and you’re actively working on refining your energy and becoming a powerful woman, don’t just read today’s ritual. Do it.

You keep saying that you want to take better care of yourself, but something else, or someone else always seems more important. You want more space and time in your life, but your calendar is jam packed. You want to make a change, but you’re not sure which direction is right.

So you keep postponing and keep doing the minimum to keep your life moving. So that your people are taken care of, you don’t get fired and the lights in your house stay on. From the outside, it all looks fine, but underneath it all, there’s a constant negotiation happening.

You’re constantly negotiating what you want vs what you’re actually doing on a daily basis.

Negotiating what you know deep down vs what you’re actually choosing.

When you keep yourself in that place of uncertainty or indecision, or stuffing down those subtle feelings that you have inside, you are unintentionally allowing an energetic leak.

It seems innocent enough at first, but don’t all giant deluges start with just a hairline fracture? Over time, this little fissure starts to dilute your power.

Most people think they need more clarity, time, information. But what actually creates clarity is understanding how your energy works, specifically to be very, very clear on what environmentally supports you or drains you. What feels easy and what feels like you are trudging through thick mud.

When you’re in sync with your energy, the path becomes very simple and clear because it’s just naturally flowing. Decision making is a lot faster. You stop trying to do everything and you focus on what actually matters. This gives you time back in your calendar to do the things you really love and want to do, and to spend time with the people you want to.

That’s where tools like Feng Shui and Chinese astrology come in.

An AstroStrategy Experience isn’t about predictions. It’s actually customizing your next steps in your space and life with the information in your astrology. We evaluate your goals and where you currently are so that we can come up with the right next steps to match your energy and make sure it will feel easy and not drain you. What’s really important about the reading is that it’s customized to you, because it’s not one-size-fits-all.

Your AstroStrategy Experience is a streamlined, clear way forward so that you walk away from the call with concrete, Feng Shui-approved steps to start right away.

Uncertainty will keep draining your power if you let it.

If you’re ready to stop second guessing yourself and start moving forward in a way that actually works, start here.

This week, I didn’t RSVP to a party I was invited to.

It was one of those invites you have to commit to weeks in advance, and for some reason, I just couldn’t say yes. Nothing was wrong with the invite. It’s actually an event I’ve missed in the past and have been wanting to go to. But every time I went to respond, something in me paused.

So I didn’t RSVP. And of course, now there are no spots left, and I’m not going. And you know what, I’m completely fine with that.

A few days ago, friends wanted to sit by the canal after work. The Parisian weather has been outrageously gorgeous lately. It was sunny, everyone was in a good mood, and normally I would have gone without thinking twice.

But I wasn’t feeling great, so I also said no. I didn’t over-negotiate with myself or apologize profusely. I just said, no thanks.

I know these moments don’t sound like a big deal in the grand scheme of life, but honestly, they’re the ones that matter. These moments are the sneaky energy drainers you often miss.

The hesitation before you commit or the second your body says “no” but you still override it because whatever you are committing to looks good, sounds good, or feels like you should say yes.

I’m going to sound like a broken record, but that’s what you’re here for, right?

It’s Spring and the seasonal energy is expanding. Everything is opening up and there are more plans, invitations and movement.

And on top of that, we’re in a Fire Horse year, which only amplifies that energy. Opportunities and invitations are fast, social, super exciting, a little impulsive, a little “say yes now, figure it out later.”

FOMO is real, my friends, and is being amplified by Spring and the Fire Horse. No, I promise you, you are not missing out. You’re just not doing what you already know, which is to listen to your energy and say…no.

It’s time to trust yourself and your power. These small decisions are what build your environment because your environment isn’t just your furniture. It’s what you agree to, where you place your time, where your energy actually goes.

So when you keep saying yes to things that don’t fully resonate, your environment starts to feel off, overwhelming, anxiety-provoking, even if everything looks good on the outside.

So how do you change it?

The next time you feel that hesitation, that subtle “hmm,” just take a beat. Don’t answer right away or commit on the spot. Give yourself space and trust yourself. Nothing will crumble, including you.

Because in a year like this, your power isn’t in saying yes. It’s in being selective, and you already know that.

As a powerful woman, you know what to do. Now just go do it.

Last week, I said yes to everything. Late night work calls to the US, dinner with friends visiting from the States, apéros with friends locally. Don’t get me wrong, I did it all intentionally and had a great time, but boy did I pay for it energetically. And I knew I would.

I ended up crashing for a full day. It was a beautiful, sunny Saturday in Paris – the kind of day where I should have been traipsing through the Tuileries Gardens, and instead I was laid out on my couch for 24 hours. It wasn’t the worst thing, but that’s because I’m an Energy Whisperer, remember? After decades of working with environmental and personal energy, I’ve learned how to take my inherent NYC hustle from full burnout and sickness down to what I’ll call a mild couch crash. It may not sound like much, but it is. Noticing your energy is one thing. Intentionally managing your energy is a whole other ballgame.

How about you? Do you ever get a message in your body before you understand it?

You may recognize the signal your body is giving you, but then you don’t actually listen. You can’t quite explain the hesitation, but you say yes anyway. You push through. You tell yourself that it’s not a big deal or that you’re overthinking it. Come on, don’t be such a wuss.

And this is one of those times of year where your energy gets challenged. The holidays and summer are the obvious ones, but this transition into Spring? It’s sneakier, and remember that we are in a fiery Horse year. Everything is blooming, there is more light, more plans, more invitations, more movement, and it’s very easy to go faster than your energy actually wants to, or can, go.

So if you’re reading this right now and feeling off or exhausted, telling yourself “it’s probably just allergies” or “I didn’t sleep well,” you know, all the usual things we say so we don’t have to actually look at what’s going on, well…just stop.

I’m going to lay some tough love on you here – there’s NOTHING wrong with you. You’re not behind or lazy. You’re just not listening.

It’s in those moments that you have a choice. You can go to the gym or keep your calendar full because “I should be doing more.” You can override that hesitation, or you can wisely use the information your body is giving you to become…a more powerful woman.

We think Feng Shui is just about your physical space, what you see, what you can move, what you can fix.

But your body is part of your environment too, and it’s constantly responding to how you’re living – what you’re saying yes to, what you’re overriding, where your energy is actually going.

And if you ignore these important signals for long enough, your most important piece of your environment, your body, starts to break down. Your eyes, the windows, don’t see things as clearly. Your mouth, the door, starts to express things that either under or overcompensate. Other areas begin to hurt and ache, asking for attention because they are being ignored.

So instead of asking yourself what you should be doing right now, or what makes the most sense, ask yourself this:

What am I feeling that I’m choosing to ignore?

Because that’s the exact information you need, and if you listen to it, really listen, everything in your life has the potential to shift.
