Happy Chinese New Year from FengMi!!!

Well, it's Chinese New Year today so let's brighten up the atmosphere a bit! FengMi both rang in the Year of the Dragon with separate photoshoots...but just like their Christmas shoots, their Chinese New Year photos turned out eerily alike! O_o (Come on you two, why are you fighting fate...you know the universe is trying to tell you something when almost everything you do matches each other unintentionally! Hehe, just kidding! ;P I guess they really are like what Feng Shaofeng said--born to be an "onscreen couple"...)

(Note: I am definitely still working on the subs for the videos, the recent news is just still fresh so I'm taking some time getting around to it. But don't worry, it's coming... ^_^)

Well, I'm sure most of you have heard the news already...Yang Mi and Hawick Lau announced recently that they are in a relationship, and FSF sent his well-wishes/congratulations, thus bringing an end to FengMi.

I know many of you feel disappointed, so feel free to vent if you like! But I'd just like to say, I hope all of you had an enjoyable few months following FengMi because I know I did! Sometimes the end is not so important, as long as the journey was fun!

Personally, I think shipping FengMi was still completely worth every second. And if I had to choose again, even knowing the end result, I wouldn't hesitate in deciding to support and fangirl for FengMi wholeheartedly. Quite honestly, I have never had such a blast following entertainment news. They've brought me genuine happiness and excitement, so for that I thank them.

Of course I also wonder, why are they so sweet towards each other, even in recent days, if YM/HL are an item...? Was FengMi just an act, a front? I guess we won't really know, but I am inclined to believe that they are indeed extremely close friends, just like family--you can't fake that kind of closeness. Here's to hoping they will remain lifelong buddies! And while part of me wishes they weren't so sweet in the past 2 months (giving me more hope), in the end I am glad they gave us FengMi shippers a "last hurrah", so-to-speak.

Thanks to all of you for these few months. I will still update this blog for any of you who would still like to stick around--there are 3 videos I have yet to sub. When I first started shipping FengMi I told myself the result didn't matter--I would enjoy the process and worry about the end when it came. Well, that day has arrived and while I did get more invested than I originally planned to, I will definitely keep my word and continue to support FengMi, both together and separately! I love both of them equally right now and will continue to follow their projects. :)

(Nope, they didn't do another photoshoot together unfortunately--I'm still waiting for that day!--but they both did quirky Christmas-themed photoshoots separately, for different magazines, last month. I think they go quite nicely together though! )

FengMi at "I Do" and "HMY" Promo Events (2011-11-30)

So that event I mentioned previously, about FengMi attending a promo event for the jewellery company "I Do" (who specializes in engagement/wedding jewellery, as their name suggests)?

Well, like FengMi always seem to do, they exceeded my expectations despite me already being super-hyped-up about it!!! (I don't know how they do it every single time, they just get more and more adorable. ^_^) Yang Mi also accompanied Feng Shaofeng to his "White Vengeance" promo event right after!

Videos, pictures, and squeeing under the cut...

(Probably one of my favourite moments from the "I Do" event--too cute not to do an animated gif of! FengMi give new meaning to the phrase "mei lai yan qu" (i.e. "flirting with their eyes/eyebrows"). This was right after the reporters asked a simple "how do you feel about being at this promo event?"--FSF seemed a bit flustered and turned to exchange looks with Yang Mi before answering...wonder what kind of silent communication went on between them there!

Note #1 (@ 8:21): Here the host jokingly compares FengMi's reunion to one of the most famous "reunion of lovers" in Chinese folklore. According to the legend of "QiXi", the cowherd and the weaver maiden (a fairy from heaven who wove the clouds in the sky) fell in love, but were separated by the Goddess of heaven when she found out (love between mortals and immortals is forbidden). However, one day a year, thousands of magpies come together to create a bridge across the Milky Way that separates them in the sky, so they can be reunited for one night.

FSF and YM are having so much fun with this! I know it was probably scripted but it's so funny when FSF looks YM up and down going, "hmmm...think there's something missing...missing a...missing a ring!" Also ROFL at his sly/sneaky expression right before he puts the ring on, he totally does a little eyebrow-waggle too. And afterwards Yang Mi also has a rather cheeky expression with an eyebrow-waggle of her own when she says it's the first time a guy has given her a diamond ring. It's like they're going *wink wink, nudge nudge* at all of us...(I'm almost half wondering if they actually are engaged already, bwahahaha... ok just kidding, that isn't very likely at all.)

"White Vengeance (HMY)" fan "meet-and-greet" session: (includes Sina's video of this event, plus clips from some fan-taken videos not shown in the Sina video)

Note #1 (@2:18, 5:42): "lao fo ye" = "Empress Dowager". In the Qing dynasty, the Empress Dowager was seen as the person of highest status (even the Emperor had to respect and bow down to the Empress Dowager). FSF jokingly calls YM this while helping her onto the stage, but then quickly backtracks and changes it to "xiao fo ye" ("lao" = old, while "xiao" = little, so he changed it to "little" Empress Dowager to avoid calling her "old"! XD)

Note #2 (@3:20): marriage licenses in China are actually small little red booklets that resemble the "awards" they handed out to FengMi (except about twice the size).

I find it so cute that both FSF and YM keep saying multiple times at both events how very long it's been since they've seen each other. XD (They last time they got together was 2 months ago, at the end of September for "Gong 2" filming.)

"I Do":

The host of the event was Li Jing--who most definitely ships FengMi! (She's same host who did FengMi's "ChaoJi interview" as well as FSF's "Up Close" interview.) She mentioned in the "Up Close" interview that FSF only gets nervous around Yang Mi...and it is so definitely true! I'll add, that it's around Yang Mi and if they're in front of a lot of media. (Personally I think it's because he's worried about letting something slip, heheh.) FSF kept fidgeting with his own ring and the buttons on his shirt (??) during the event, and seemed extra nervous when he put the ring on her finger. (I bet he's thinking, "O_o...oh **** this thing is huge, is this what I'm going to have to beat for the real thing..." Seriously though, check out the size of that diamond in this close-up--not on YM's hand, but you can see the "Eiffel tower" design quite clearly in this pic.)

He seems a lot more nervous during the "I Do" event where they were swamped by the media; meanwhile, at the HMY event (which was mainly just fans in attendance), FSF was a *lot* more at ease and as a result seemed more open with his sweet gestures towards YM! ^_^ It's actually quite funny how during the "I Do" event, YM was all smiley and flirty while FSF was much "calmer" (but nervous)...then at the "HMY" event it was reversed--FSF was the one being all sweet (with the hand-holding, putting his arm around her, etc) while YM was the "calm" one (trying to refute the rumours).

Although, I think Yang Mi seemed a little bit dazed herself after FSF put on the ring--when the host asked her if she had anything to say, she was a little bit speechless for awhile and just managed a breathless "thank you" while giggling giddily, heheh. XD

Other little bits I liked: FSF twice complimenting Yang Mi ("she's always looked very pretty all along", "she looks pretty no matter what she wears"), FSF smiling happily when the host says they look like such a matching pair...plus at the end, when the host says, "hope you two find true love soon!" FSF turns to look at Yang Mi. After the host asks him if he'd like to give her well-wishes in the love department, he instead states, "She says she wants to get married before she's 30!" (Not exactly a secret though since she keeps proclaiming that in all her interviews... )

YM (looking a little bit embarrassed) replies, "I'll aim for it, aim for it...", then it looks like FSF also says "will aim for it!" (He doesn't hold his microphone up so we can't hear it but it certainly looks like that's what he's saying! Dude, what does that have to do with you...are you also aiming to get YM married before she's 30?? ) Then he adds, "well that's not too possible for me since I was past 30 a long time ago!"

(Maybe it was just that moment that this photo was taken but Yang Mi looks so adorable and happy here being pulled along on stage by FSF! ^_^)

FengMi with matching rings! XD (Note that in China the tradition is to put the wedding bands on the middle finger, not the ring finger.)

Apparently, even Yang Mi's parents were there! (Probably to see their daughter since she rarely gets a chance to go home...no pictures of her mother but someone did post up these pics of Yang Mi's dad next to Feng Shaofeng!!!) Certainly doesn't seem like any of YM's other costars (whether male of female) have ever been nearly this close to her parents! (If they've even met her parents at all...)

HMY "meet-and-greet":

At the start of the HMY event, only FSF is onstage because he says Yang Mi has to change out of her outfit (i.e. her "wedding dress"... ) So chivalrous of FSF to walk over across the stage to help YM up when she arrives...he's always so considerate to make sure she doesn't trip. ^_^ And so adorable that the two of them just reach out their hands as if by instinct for FSF to help YM onstage! XD

...ummm alright FSF, you can let go of her hand now...YM is safely on the stage already, the "helping her up the stairs" excuse doesn't work anymore. XD (But it's ok, we don't mind...and I'm sure YM doesn't either! )

Yang Mi says she previously wanted to attend his HMY event in Shanghai, but couldn't make the time (due to her busy filming schedule), so this time she *had* to come (flying all the way to Beijing from Shanghai!!!).

It's too funny when YM cuts the host off after he says she specially came to support FSF, and launches into an explanation about how he previously went to support her movie too (i.e. trying to downplay the fact she flew all the way from Shanghai to support him ^_^)...then FSF cuts her off by putting his arm around her and saying "冤冤相报何时了啊"--loosely translates to: "we keep returning the favour it's never going to end!" It's kind of a play on words because "returning the favour" sounds the same in Chinese as "hug" or "putting arms around each other". (...He was so just looking for an excuse to do that. ) But then Yang Mi goes back to reiterate that she's not just coming because he went to support her--but she's doing it because she just feels like it's something she "must" do. Awww...

Hilariously, the HMY event organizers gave out two random "awards" to FSF/YM--in the form of two little red booklets! (Very similar to what marriage licenses look like in China.) Then they asked FengMi to pose together holding the booklets, heheh. (They so did that on purpose; I love the host for commenting, "Looks like marriage licenses! ...Alright, it's settled then!" )

It's almost like the organizers of both events set this up together because how perfect is that...at the "I Do" event we get the "wedding ceremony" complete with rings; then they go to the HMY promo event and it's like the post-wedding thing where they're showing off their brand-new marriage licenses! (Well, great minds think alike, after all! :P)

(Annnddddd with that all our imaginations run wild with what FSF could possibly be whispering to YM to make her smile so sweetly like that ...I also love how the microphones they're holding have "I DO" plastered over them on big bold letters, as if that's what they're saying... ^_^)

And I also can't help but squee over how FengMi always seem to subconsciously or consciously move to hold each others' hands/arms, or put their arms around each other (especially the HMY fan "meet-and-greet" which was quite informal and not at all "posed"!). I don't know about you guys, but some of these definitely doesn't seem like a "just friends" thing! XD

From the last 3 pictures: Apparently, when the host wanted to keep Yang Mi for longer, FSF made him let her leave (probably so she could get some rest after her very long day). I remember FSF once joked he could be her agent because people keep calling him to ask for her contact info...it wouldn't be a bad idea really--at least he'd probably make sure she got plenty of rest and wouldn't overwork herself! (j/k, he's busy enough himself as it is... )

This part isn't actually that clear from the blurry, poor-quality footage we got, but fans who attended the event posted about it. FSF had to rush off to another theatre for another HMY event at a different location; Yang Mi was only slated to appear at this one so the host tried to get her to stay longer while FSF had to take off. HOWEVER, then you see FSF take YM's hand; we can't hear from the video but here are reports from people in attendance:

彤言乐语: 主持人想单独留下妞时，冯叔特无辜的牵着妞对主持人说："对啊，她难道不一起走"

"When the host wanted to keep [Yang Mi], 'Uncle Feng' went to hold her hand and said to the host: 'Right, exactly, would she not come along with me??' "

彤言乐语: 最感动的是要走的时候，本来是主持人想把妞留下在访问一会，然后都走了几步的冯叔又回来拉着妞对主持人说她还有其他事情都一起先走吧

"The most touching moment was when they were leaving, originally the host wanted to keep [Yang Mi] there to interview her some more, but then 'Uncle Feng' who had already walked a few steps then came back, holding YM's hand, and said to the host that she had other things to do so how about they leave together"

" 'Uncle Feng' still needed to rush to the next session, the host wanted to keep YM for more interviewing, but 'Uncle Feng' used his eyes/expression to signal and also put his arm around her, and took Yang Mi right along with him"

Now being fan accounts they could be biased interpretations...but from the video, we do see FSF taking her hand and putting his arm around her; with the host saying that Yang Mi should stay; and while we can't hear what he's saying, it does seem to me like FSF is politely but firmly talking to the host to let them release Yang Mi as well! ^_^

Another adorable tidbit--according to this article, reporters asked YM's company if FengMi are a couple. As expected, they totally shot down the possibility...however, what was hilarious is then they say: "Because of this, we actually especially warned/ordered Yang Mi: make sure at all cost not to let FSF put a ring on your finger to avoid any misunderstanding [by the press]--but in the end, the young lady got a bit too dazed/giddy in that romantic atmosphere just now."

活动后，记者向杨幂公司核实两人是否有意公布恋情，但工作人员予以了否认： "恋情真的没有，为此我们还特意叮嘱杨幂，千万别让冯绍峰亲自给你戴钻戒以免误会，结果小姑娘在刚才那个浪漫的气氛里有点晕了。"

No video of this to back up the article so dunno if it's true but I got a good laugh/squee out of it--at least, the rest of the article was quite truthful. The title of it was hilarious though--"Yang Mi disregards her company's strong/forceful disapproval/opposition, sweetly accepts the diamond ring Feng Shaofeng presents her." (杨幂不顾公司强烈反对甜蜜获赠冯绍峰钻戒)

Speculation: Yang Mi and XingGuang GuoJi production company "hoping to" collaborate in the future?

I find it rather interesting that the host at the HMY event mentions that he "heard" that Yang Mi will have a collaboration with XingGuang (the production company behind HMY)...in a sort of hesitant "not sure if I should be mentioning this" tone of voice. The director/VP from the company replies that they're "hoping for it". I think I also heard reports that FSF is slated to act in one of their upcoming movies as well...could this mean that FSF's attempts to get XingGuang to cast both him and YM in a movie has come through??? (Even though some people are sick of them already, I'm sure all of us here are sooooo up for seeing FengMi costar together in a movie!!! Painted Skin 2 is exciting of course but since they are only secondary/supporting characters they probably don't have much screentime together...)

Rumour Clarification + Questions & Answers Post

I have been receiving lots of questions in the "FSF Up Close Interview" post and I felt it might be a good idea to create a dedicated post where you guys can ask any questions you have about FengMi--whether it's a random rumour you heard somewhere or any other questions you have! (Note that depending on the question it may take me awhile to get around to it but rest assured, I am working on them! :P)

There are tons of articles out there revolving around FengMi together as well as them with their various costars. It's inevitable since both FSF and YM continue to act opposite many other people apart from each other, and the media just love to gossip/spread rumours. Sometimes, that makes it hard to separate fact from fiction!

While I obviously can't comment fully on what exactly is true and what exactly is made-up, I will try my best to clarify these. (Hopefully in an objective way, but, being such a major FengMi-fangirl and shipper, I admit it might not be possible for me to be completely unbiased.)

So without further ado, please feel free to ask away in the comments below and I will continue to add to this post as we go. I'm not sure this is the most efficient way to organize things (I don't know how to do a separate "FAQ" page here) but hopefully it will do for now!

Question #1: FengMi--Fact or Fiction???

I'm sure most of you guys feel the same way as a certain "guest123" who left this message:

Q: ok now..im really confused whether they're dating in real life or not!

A: Well, aren't we all! I'm sure everyone is curious about the true nature of FengMi's relationship. Of course, it will probably be a long time yet until we discover the truth (we'll have to wait until FengMi either publicly announce their relationship, or one/both of them announce their relationship with someone else). In response to this, my perspective is similar to what Feng Shaofeng himself has been recently saying in answer to the FengMi questions--he says, "it's no longer important whether or not we are together". I say, is it really that important to find out the answer now?? We're all here because we love watching the adorable interactions between FengMi and their undeniable chemistry.

Personally, I have chosen to believe that they are indeed a couple, because everything is a lot more fun and enjoyable that way! If it turns out that this isn't true--then so be it, I will continue to support each of them separately and together as friends. No matter what, as FSF says, their friendship and strong bond is true. However, I will also say that FengMi is the first real-life couple I have actively shipped and been invested in--because they truly have that special quality and chemistry that makes it hard for me to believe otherwise. If I turn out to be completely wrong, no problem--they've brought me a lot of happy squeeing and ecstatic fangirling in these past few months (and will no doubt continue to do so!). For that I have to thank them. Like Yang Mi often says, perhaps we should focus on the present and not worry too much about the future.

Question #2: Why does FSF say he never "pursued" YM?

Q: I remember u once mentioned on spctv that he said if he meets the right person that he loves, he definitely does everything he can to win over her (something like that, correct me it I'm wrong). I admit I'm really impressed with this kind of personality of him. However, in one of the recent interviews, when being asked whether he did any move to pursue YM in the past, he denied and said he is quite timid and passive, normally it was the girls who pursued him. I'm quite confused/ shocked with the way he answered the question (I mean he just admitted that he used to have feelings for YM and then he said he didn't do anything for her beyond friendship-that doesn't seem to be his personality). A: Yes I read that interview too. FSF and YM have both said lots of contradictory things in their interviews (so clearly they are lying during some of the interviews...lol). Personally I think he was lying in the interview where he said he is timid/passive--he is an introverted person but that doesn't seem to be the case when it comes to a girl he likes, haha. I mean, we already know he went to visit Yang Mi at home when she was sick (bringing lots of stuff for her too), fanning her/bringing her ice packs etc when it was too hot while filming Gong, visiting her multiple times while she was filming BJAQGS, getting to know her parents so well that apparently both Yang Mi's parents adore him, publicly writing all sorts of sweet/supportive things to/about her on weibo, sending her lots of gifts, joking with her about the two of them dating, surprising her at her movie promo...etc etc. And this is only the stuff we know about via various interviews/tidbits! XD

If that isn't called "being proactive", I don't know what is! FSF is in general very good to his friends, but I don't think it's been to this extent for his other friends! Even if he says he hasn't done anything beyond friendship, his actions over the past year or so seem to prove otherwise. (Then again, FengMi's definition of their "friendship" appears to be very different from the typical definition, lol.)

Anyways, that's just my own (probably biased) opinion on the matter...in addition, I honestly don't think he could answer any other way. Just like he was sort of put in a corner when asked straight-up about his 520 weibo (so he had no choice but admit he did have feelings for YM--at least in the past), with this question he doesn't really have any choice but to reply that he didn't do anything to pursue her. (First of all, it would make him look bad; second of all it would make Yang Mi look bad too...so many people already think that the situation with FengMi is a one-sided crush by FSF while YM snubbed/rejected him coldly--causing certain FSF fans to hate YM and vice versa.)

(And just something to think about...for the longest time both FSF and YM have maintained that they are friends only, nothing more. Thanks to his "Up Close" interview, FSF was forced to admit he did have feelings for Yang Mi but he saved it by explaining this is all in the past. So now when asked, FSF changes his tune from before and openly admits that there was a period of time where he liked YM. Understandably, he continues to do "damage control" by reiterating that nothing more came of it. Perhaps there will be a day when he or Yang Mi are forced to admit even more?? I think a lot of things they have said in the past have already proven that when it comes to their relationship, these two often contradict their own explanations and can be quite untruthful...)

Question #3: FSF comparison on Yang Mi vs. Liu Yifei....???

Q: I read from spctv that "FSF also gave some comparisons between his old crush and his new female partner in the movie Hong Men Yan - angel Liu Yi Feị. He praised her acting in new Daniel Lee's movie: "Having a such a wonderful partner like Liu Yi Fei makes the movie so successful. She is the first female partner who has given me such warm feeling, very professional but also very tender. To me, she is a Goddess, and Yang mi is a friend". His comparison gave fans an impression that he "abandoned Yang Mi to court Liu Yi Fei".

As far as I know, FSF is quite meticulous/smart in answering to the questions regarding his costars since he is very kind/considerate person. I'm quite surprised at how he compared LYF and YM in such an awkward way. Did you read this interview by any chance and what is your opinions regarding this?

A: Yes, I actually did watch that interview--the article was (as always) skewed by the media to make it seem like FSF directly compared LYF and YM that way--and they also add their own little commentary to emphasize the impression that FSF "abandoned YM for LYF" as they put it. However, watching the actual video interview is quite different.

It's an 8+ minute long interview and FSF was actually asked about LYF and YM separately (not together as a direct comparision, like the article makes it out to be). Link is here: http://v.qq.com/program/bigshot/bigshot4.htm

First they ask about YM--even the narrator says that when asked about Yang Mi, FSF no doubt "comes prepared." As expected, he answers that they are just friends:

Interviewer: What exactly are your relations like in private?
FSF: We get along extremely well in private.
Interviewer: What about the various rumours about you two?
FSF: We are just good friends. Ummmm...actually we do not really contact each other that often...umm...just because our work keeps us very busy, but...umm, I think...when the two of us meet each other, occasionally, we care a great deal about the other, uh, that is, like, sometimes we will read the news on the internet, because you know in Baidu search [Baidu is similar to Google over here] *laughs* often when you search for me there will be her name [FSF is smiling happily during this section] often in news reports there will be [the other] so we will take interest in each other's matters, like, is the other person doing well, and in terms of work, we will chat about the various aspects sometimes--mostly we will just chat about work--maybe that is our common interests I guess! But it is just that only!

He goes on to do some more explaining that the rumours are because everyone liked them together in "Gong" and adds once again that "actually whether the two of us are together or not is no longer important, what is important is the friendship and mutual acceptance between the two people, I think me and Yang Mi are this way."

(As you can see, he is directly asked about the rumours so as expected he refutes them but also maintains that they have a very good "friendly" relationship. You also see the interesting phenomenon of both FSF/YM at times saying they rarely contact each other, then in other interviews contradicting this and saying they will often chat with each other! Lol.)

Then they ask about LYF:

FSF: Yifei is a very, I think someone who is very considerate/thoughtful of others. She is also very hardworking and professional. The "Yu Ji" that she acted, I think is like, uh...a very, uh...that is, like the feeling of a "goddess" from my dreams. This "Yu Ji" in the...in this world of all men--actually in this movie there is only her that is a female role. So in this movie she is very standout and very eye-catching...that is, there is a whole group of men fighting and killing each other over there, and suddenly she appears as a very warm, like a goddess standing out. This would provide a very big "push/force" behind the plot of the movie, and she [LYF] acted it very well, very "on-point", and the collaboration with her was very happy/pleasant.

FSF has always had lots of good things to say about LYF (as with all of his costars, male and female) but I think it is clear that in this section he is mainly talking about her role in the movie and their work relationship/collaboration--whereas the questions about Yang Mi were about the rumours regarding them in real life and their private relationship. Thus, it is no wonder that there is a big difference in the way he responds to each question.

I enjoy watching FSF and YM's interactions with all of their other costars and none of those have given me any impression that any of these other costars are more than good friends/work colleagues. Both YM/FSF get along very well with many people and are on friendly terms with various costars. However, the two of them together just give me a different vibe than the two of them with their other good friends/colleagues! ^_^ Nothing has given me any cause to worry yet.

Feng Shaofeng's "Up Close" Interview

Back in October, FSF appeared was interviewed on "Up Close". The host, Li Jing, also co-hosted FengMi's ChaoJi (Super Access) Interview back in March as well as their recent appearance at the "I Do" event (more to come on that later). I actually finished the subs for this one awhile ago but ended up getting distracted by all the recent FengMi news so didn't get around to this one till now. Sorry!

I would like to thank Mr. "slow-talker" Feng Shaofeng for taking his time answering questions and thus making it a lot easier for me to translate & sub his interviews--as opposed to "machine-gun"-Yang Mi whose interviews take forever to get through... (If you missed that reference, be sure to check out the comments I added under the previous "Oct-Nov Megapost"--I also added some screencaps of FSF's "slow talking" video so check that out too if you haven't already! )

Once again, I find FSF adorable when he's answering questions related to Yang Mi--he gets all flustered/embarrassed so easily! In fact I am tempted to go on a squee-fest about practically every single thing he says during that segment but I'll let you guys just watch it yourself (I do have a few added notes to expand on some of it though):

LJ: So the two of you acting a "first-time romance", could the two of you really find that feeling of "being in love for the first time"?

FSF: I think we did, I guess. Because I--I, me and her--when we act opposite each other...we will have...some very...very intense/strong...some very stimulating/exhilarating, interactions in acting.

Actually FSF actually previously said back in May, during the "Symphony of Fate" press conference, that whenever he and Yang Mi looked at each other (while filming the drama, of course...) they both had the feeling of "falling in love for the first time".

Note #2 @ 9:49:

LJ: Have you never asked her? For example, "Yang Mi, just joking with you...in real life, do you think that the two of us could become a couple?"

FSF: Too embarrassed to say *that* type of thing.

This actually blatantly contradicts what Yang Mi said in her "The Story Behind" interview back in March--she said that FSF would sometimes joke with her, "everyone says we should be together, so how about we..." only to be cut off by her! Plus, he's even blatantly made that type of joke publicly on his weibo, back in February! (This was a few days after "Gong" had started airing in China and the FengMi rumours really started to get going.)

First, YM posted up a pic that she took of the two of them, and joked about all the dating rumours about the two of them (I think she was trying to say the rumours are false?)...

YM: Hey, that person--are there people saying we're dating? Haha, how come I don't know about this?

FSF: Really? ...is that true...how about let's just date then...looking at the picture we really do quite have a "husband-and-wife" look. :) Why don't you think about it a bit...)

Note #3 @ 10:44:

QiXi (07/07 on the Lunar Calendar), which in this year took place on Aug. 06, is the traditional "Chinese Valentine's Day". Let's take a look at FengMi's weibo posts on this special day...

Aug 06, 12:51 PM: FSF posts a pic of himself with his good friend Raymond Lam, as the two hadn't seen each other in awhile and just happened to both be in Wuhan the day before QiXi, so they met up for karaoke and drinks.

Aug 06, 12:54 PM: YM makes a cryptic and rather sad but very sweet post: "Some words are said too much as filming dialogue, so I cannot bring myself to say them in real life. If they are said out loud, even I myself feel they are not genuine. Thinking this way it is indeed quite tragic, used up all my feelings and tears only for the viewers' enjoyment. But to the person I truly care about, I am too scared to even open my mouth."

Aug 06, 1:07 PM: FSF makes his 2nd QiXi post: "On this type of day, I really want to say something to another most important person. Actually the more you care [about someone], the more there really is no need to say anything, often it is all teasing/bullying. Alright then, I wish everyone a happy holiday!"

FSF's second post and YM's post are vague enough so no one can really specifically pinpoint who they're directed to--but, it seems obvious that they are linked, especially considering FSF's post came only 13 min after YM's. Factor in the time for him to type up the post and sit on it for a bit to make sure it's suitably vague, and it pretty much came right after. Furthermore, the phrase he used for "teasing/bullying" is exactly the same phrase used during FengMi's ChaoJi interview (where he had a silly grin while saying YM always "teases/bullies" him). Seriously though, if these two posts are really meant for one another, how much sweeter can they get--YM basically said he is the person she "truly cares about" and FSF did her one better, saying she is "the MOST important person!" (On top of that, even if you look at it from a completely unbiased view, it certainly seems like both of them have a "significant other"...)

Funnily enough, both FSF and YM were asked about these weibo posts in separate interviews shortly after. Yang Mi decided to play dumb, pretending to forget about even having made such a post. Meanwhile, FSF first replies that his post was about Raymond Lam (also "playing dumb" by referring to his first QiXi post), then later--after it's clear the media aren't fooled--he replies that the post was meant for his fans who always support him...in the "Up Close" interview, he's changed his tune once again, saying that it was meant for himself.

(Huh, don't know about you guys but the wording of his post really doesn't seem to make sense to me that it was for his fans or himself...)

Note #4 @ 12:13:

FSF: (on his attitude towards romance) Actually, right now I think the more it is "mild/calm/steady", the more it is "lasting".

In fact, Yang Mi has made similar comments about her attitude towards love and marriage--that she wishes for something "ping dan" (calm/steady) and "lasting". ^_^

Note #5 @ 12:29:

There is a considerable amount of backstory to this simple weibo post--I'll start from the beginning so please bear with me!

520 (i.e. May 20th) is another special "holiday for romance" in China. This stems from the fact that "520" in Chinese sounds very similar to the phrase for "I love you". Thus, it has been dubbed "biao bai ri" (i.e. "day for love confessions"). In particular, the time of 13:14 on this day is especially significant because "1314" in Chinese sounds very similar to the phrase for "a whole lifetime and forever". Therefore, when put together the full date/time of 5.20.13:14 sounds like "I love you for a whole lifetime and forever".

The day before, Yang Mi made 3 posts on her weibo--here are the latter two:

Her first post (the bottom one) is irrelevant to 520 but take note of the cat picture! ^_^ The second one says: "Happy 520, be content/happy~~~hurry, go confess your love~~~><"

If she was hoping to get something special from a special someone...well, let's just say FSF certainly didn't disappoint! He must have been waiting in front of his computer for the special moment because on exactly 13:14 of this date, he wrote the following weibo:

FSF: "Stupid woman, 520. Be content, be happy/joyful!"

Note: "stupid woman" is a term of endearment that 8th prince used to call Qingchuan in "Gong". Also note that the cat picture was directly taken from YM's weibo the day before...and that while YM posted "520 kuaile, xingfu" at the beginning of her post the day before, FSF posted "xingfu, kuaile"--i.e. same words but reversed. Leaving no doubt in anyone's mind who this post was meant for! XD (I personally think he made this more obvious perhaps due to the fact that in his previous Feb. 14 Valentine's Day post, he was extremely vague and the media went on to make up stories about a "secret girlfriend" of his. This led FSF to angrily refute these rumours days later along with a declaration that his Valentine's Day post was meant for "Qingchuan"... )

Cue excited screaming by FengMi fans all across the country. In fact, many FengMi fans were so touched by this weibo that they came up with the idea of making 1314520 comments on this post by the time it was Yang Mi's birthday (since 5201314 comments was a bit out of reach...while 1314520 is just reversed and means "A whole lifetime and forever, I love you"). What is also worthy of note is that many people thought this goal was impossible (over a million comments??) and in fact leading up to YM's birthday it definitely seemed out of reach. But then, on Aug. 09 (about one month before YM's birthday of Sep. 12), FSF makes another (rather ambiguous) weibo post:

FSF: Today I accidentally discovered, that a certain one of my weibo posts unbelievably has 800,000+ comments...what has happened here, thank you to everyone's love and support! Thank you

One look and all the FengMi shippers knew exactly which post he was talking about (his 520 post had some 800,000+ comments at that point). Spurred on by FSF's words, the FengMi fans redoubled their efforts and went on to add comments at a blistering pace and made an additional 500,000 some comments within the next month to successfully reach the goal before YM's birthday!

Now before I go into YM's response to this special bday gift, I have to do a bit of background on the "chao liu ying yu" (CLYY) weibo. This weibo is extremely popular and everyday posts English quotes along with the Chinese translation and a picture (many of the quotes are "love/romance" related). YM and FSF (as well as both their agents, and many others) both follow this weibo--in fact, Yang Mi in particular often reposts these quotes on her weibo (FSF has also been known to do so every so often). Once the goal of 1314520 comments was reached, FengMi shippers started anxiously wondering just how they could bring this to FengMi's attention (as it was a 4-month-old weibo post by that point). Some people came up with the idea of getting CLYY to post about it because they knew Yang Mi reads that weibo. Well, the idea worked because at exactly 0:00 on Sep. 12, the CLYY weibo broke their tradition of only posting English quotes and did a special post to wish YM happy birthday:

CLYY: Happy birthday! @YangMi Please take note of the number of comments under the following weibo. Anyway, this is a very special/love-filled birthday present, many fans private-messaged me saying they hope you can see their well-wishes, many people like you a lot, they are very thoughtful/dedicated. Please be happy.

Fans were in for even more of a shock when, 24 minutes later, YM herself replied to this post to express her gratitude! O_o

YM: Thank you everyone

(Note: it seems that she went and deleted this comment later on--perhaps an extra precaution to not be too obvious--however, it is definitely real as I personally went to check the truthfulness of this at the time. Even though her comment is quite incognito (buried under thousands of others), it's still quite easy to find if you know what you're looking for. Therefore, I can see why she went back and deleted it later on to avoid having the media hound her about it...the way poor FSF gets interrogated about his weibo posts in this interview!)

Whew...ok, done with the backstory! Now let's get back to the "Up Close" interview, during which Li Jing forces FSF to comment on his 520 weibo. Faced with being unable to deny that his post was meant for Yang Mi, and also not wanting to admit to anything (as silence would be pretty much equivalent to admission in this case), FSF replies (rather ingeniously, I think) that he indeed was once a "FengMi shipper" himself (!!!) but that it was in the past--because he couldn't differentiate his onscreen character from real life, and that now he realizes they are not actually suitable for each other.

Ummm, surrrreeeeeee FSF. He actually sounds pretty convincing but there are some pretty big gaping holes in this excuse. First of all, the post was made in May 20. At that time he was right in the middle of filming "White Vengeance" opposite Liu Yifei (and he had said himself that he really forced himself to get extremely in-character/immersed in the filming for that movie as it was one of his most challenging and ambitious roles to date). Yet, he wants us to believe that he (an actor with 10+ years of acting experience) still can't get out of character from roles that he had played from months ago?? (Yeah, can you blame me for being skeptical...) Furthermore, if he really doesn't feel the same way as he did on May 20...what's with his later posts as recently as Aug. 06 and Aug. 09? (Well, you can probably argue that those are too vague really to use as any evidence...)

Other general commentary on this interview:

Again, I won't squee about all the cute moments in this interview but let's all "awww" at the fact that FSF just said he "will forever love Yang Mi in filming"...and that he also loves Yang Mi outside filming...but it's a "friend" type of love. Bwahaha. (Your lying skills still need some improvement, FSF! Good lord, the host just asked whether or not either of them ever liked each other a teensy bit--then, after being all speechless/flustered for awhile, he just outright states that he "loves" her both in and out of filming--just in different ways. )

And then, again without much prompting from the host, he goes right out and says that he thinks he and Yang Mi were just born to be an onscreen couple. O_o !!! (Seriously FSF, tone it down a little...this is totally undoing your attempt to deny the rumours during the 520 segment!)

He also mentions YM again later in the interview (during a completely unrelated segment)--FSF talks about how he had an extremely strict/formal upbringing where manners/etiquette were very important. It sounds totally opposite to YM's family, who were super casual, joked around with each other, etc. FSF's mom would actually be super strict on him with even using chopsticks the proper way as a kid! O_o Previously he's also said that she had extremely high standards (i.e. you know, one of those Asian parents that expect you to get 100% on every exam; she also told him he was absolutely not allowed to date until university!). I think I read somewhere that his father was very disapproving of his choice to enter the entertainment industry and he finally relented, but only after FSF promised to keep his family completely out of media attention--which, he's impressively lived up to! Despite acting for over 10 years and being so high-profile now, no one has a clue about the truth to his family background (even though rumours are rampant about his family being very rich etc)...FSF basically shuts down the media completely every time they bring up the subject and refutes all the rumours. While YM's parents didn't really make her learn anything extra and only sent her to a few acting classes as a little kid, FSF's parents sent him to do various extracurricular training (there are some cute pics of a little FSF playing the violin). No wonder FSF is so gentlemanly and polite towards everyone!

Ummm...anyways, I kind of went off on a tangent, but at one point FSF says his mother is super strict on proper etiquette--for example, she won't let him make any "mouth smacking" noises while eating; then he says, Yang Mi would sometimes do that and he would tell her not to, LOL.

Anyways, now aside from FengMi reminding me of Huang Rong/Guo Jing, now they kind of remind me of my other favourite couple of all-time, Xiao Yanzi/5th prince from HZGG...you know, the whole family background thing and personalities??? With XYZ/YM being mischievous/feisty and 5th prince/FSF being sweet and somehow both childishly cute and manly at the same time? (No? Well, I do realize I am now in so deep I kind of sound crazy! )

End-of-November FengMi Tidbits

Lots more random tidbits under the cut...(a bit more speculation-based than usual though)

Before I get onto new material, I promised a certain Anonymous commenter that I would provide an answer to their question under the "YM Bday Party post":

"Does YM/FSF watch their own dramas (I mean their individual projects)or they only watch Fengmi dramas?"

Now, I can't for sure answer 100% yes or no to this. But let's take a look at their interview replies: (please keep in mind--as with all written interviews, take it with a grain of salt since without video evidence, we don't know whether things have been embellished/taken out of context by the writers)

FSF: "以前从来不看自己的戏，有什么好看的？傻了吧唧的。" 可《宫》他是每集都看，“看的时候还能回忆起拍戏时的开心事儿。"

Translation: "Before I would never watch my own dramas--what's the point of watching them? I'm so 'silly/dumb' in them." But for <Gong>, he would watch every single episode, "When I watch it I can remember back to the funny/happy memories from filming."

Recall that in her "The Story Behind" interview, when the host played some <Gong> clips onscreen, Yang Mi also stated that watching them brought back a lot of great memories from filming (and the clips shown were of Qingchuan/8th prince!).

Also, that same interview contains some other cute tidbits, including FSF saying that in their emotional parting scene, he and Yang Mi were so overcome by emotion that after the scene ended, Yang Mi was still shaking. FSF says, "I took one look at her, and then we 'qing bu zi jin' hugged each other tightly/collapsed in each other's arms." [Note: 'qing bu zi jin' is quite a strong term to describe 'can't help myself, automatically/inevitably'.]

FSF also says that it's important that his "ideal girl" would be able to "boss him around", and thinks he would for sure be a "qi guan yan" (i.e. a guy who is totally whipped by his wife), then adds that "being bossed around is quite a happy/content thing!". (Remind you guys of anyone...? ) Note that this interview was from back in February when Gong was still airing and the FengMi craze had just started, so FSF was quite a bit more "free" with his words than he is now. (I miss those days...however, even recently he said that because he's a Libra, he has trouble making small decisions, so he would like a girl who can choose/make these decisions for him! Once again reminds me of Yang Mi, who has said in the past that she's looked over scripts for FSF and gave him her opinion on whether he should accept the role or not.)

Now, moving onto Yang Mi: it was quite a bit more difficult to find anything recent from her. However, here's an interview from back in March 2010:

YM: "我不知道其它人，反正我是很少看我自己演的作品，除非是我特别满意的，因为在看自己作品时你或多或少都会觉得哪儿不满意"

Translation: "I don't know about other people, but anyways I rarely watch my own works, unless I am really satisfied with it, because when you're watching your own projects you will more-or-less be unhappy with some part of it."

Now, I do think think Yang Mi watches her own stuff more often than FSF has. In addition, keep in mind that many actors have said similar things. However, I definitely think FengMi pay extra attention to their collaborative projects--most notably, as I mentioned before, with FSF saying recently on his weibo that he had no time to watch "Hou Gong" (where he costarred with Ady), and YM gushing on about her scenes with FSF in "Symphony of Fate" while totally ignoring poor Chi Shuai (arguably the more important male lead). Before it aired, she even called it, "My new drama with Uncle Feng!" (I think then would've been a good time for Chi Shuai to figuratively tap her on the shoulder and ask her "...so what am I then??" )

Yang Mi supports Feng Shaofeng's new movie "White Vengeance"

Feng Shaofeng's first movie, "White Vengeance", is coming out in theatres tomorrow! (Aug. 29th.) Many people wished him success, but of course I'll just post Yang Mi's well-wishes:

YM: I support "Uncle Feng"'s newest movie "White Vengeance", this is a project with a great deal of effort put in that I am extremely anticipating. From tonight forward, you will unquestionably be the Xiang Yu in everyone's hearts. There's also Yifei who I similarly anticipate, and also brother Xiao Chun~ Wish the box office great success

FSF: "Girl" is so wonderful! Thank you "girl"!

The smilies are adorable too! ^_^ (Based on past observations, some FengMi fans have come to the conclusion that the "shaking hand" smiley and the "pig head" smiley appear to be one of FengMi's "secret symbols"...of course I can't comment on the truth behind that, but those do seem to make a lot of appearances whenever they post about each other...)

(Note: Liu Yifei is one of YM's good friends, from when they both filmed ROCH together. "Brother Xiao Chun" refers to Chen Xiaochun, who was her male costar in her horror movie "Mysterious Island". Both of them also have significant roles in "White Vengeance"...but hmmm, how come they seem a bit "tacked on"??? )

Even kids ship FengMi... ...(and FengMi love kids!)

Yang Mi recently appeared on a Chinese variety show, on which various cute little kids complete tasks for celebrities. I think it's also for charity, because each celebrity will donate an item that (I think) eventually goes up for auction, with proceeds going to help support kids in poverty who cannot afford schooling etc.

I'm not going to upload & sub this one to Youtube because Yang Mi only has a few minutes of screentime. However, it's a very cute and hilarious watch if you love little kids! (Although, at some parts they kind of creep me out by how "grown-up"/"little adults" they seem... O_o)

However, what's cute is that the two 4-year-olds apparently know all about <Gong>! (I will also try to ignore the part of me that's creeped out because I don't think 4-year-olds should be watching these kind of idol dramas about romance, but anyways...) They first say that they know how to sing Yang Mi's song, and proceed to play/sing along with "Ai De Gong Yang" (Gong's theme song)--they are adorably off-tune but seem to know all the words! Anyways, Yang Mi seems quite pleased about it... (the captions added by the show producers are hilarious!)

YM: You guys have watched <Gong>, is that right?

YM: Do you guys like Qingchuan, do you guys like 8th prince??

Boy: Do you like brother "Jian Feng" or brother "Feng Jian Feng"???

CAPTION: "I am Feng SHAO Feng!!!"

YM: *laughs*

CAPTION: "I'm not telling you~"

YM: I'll tell you if you give me some food.

Boy: Oh...I didn't bring any...I forgot to bring some!

ROFL that the little kid got FSF's name all wrong...but bless him for asking anyways! Also, I don't know if he was thinking of two different guys when he asked Yang Mi who she liked...but I like the choice between either "Jian Feng" or "Feng Jian Feng" (provided, of course, that by "Jian Feng" he actually means "Shaofeng"...although as an aside, hilariously Yang Mi actually has collaborated with two actors named "Jian Feng"--Sammul Chan Jianfeng in MRXJ, and Bao Jianfeng in "Hong Wu Da An"; don't think the little boy knows about them though!).

It's also so cute how Yang Mi is laughing about it and keeps talking about "Qingchuan and 8th prince" when it comes to <Gong>. ^_^

This also reminded me of another little boy who was a FengMi shipper--this vid is from awhile back, I actually posted about it in FSF's spcnet thread, but I'll add the screencaps here anyways:

Basically, this little kid actor goes on a variety show and talks about a project he worked on. The hosts ask him who he collaborated with; he thinks for awhile before replying that one is Liu Pei (a Chinese actress), and the other one...

Boy: There's also another actor, the one who was in "Gong"...

Male host: The one in Gong?

Female hosts: You mean Yang Mi?

Boy: Yang Mi's current boyfriend!!!

Male host: Wha...?!

Female hosts (screaming): Feng Shao Feng! Shao Feng!!!

Female hosts: Woah, so into the gossip at such a young age!

Male host: And he's even "bao liao!" (bao liao = revealing someone's secrets)

Male host: (to the boy) ...That's just rumours and speculation, ok!!

LMAO... I love how both of the girls immediately start getting super excited going into "gossip" mode while the guy host is all, "whoa calm down, it's just a rumour!!" (I just think it's too bad we don't get camera shots of the two female hosts when they're screaming "Feng Shaofeng!!!" because I imagine they'd be just as excited/hyperventilating as I would in that situation. XD)

I'd also like to add, both FSF and YM seem to adore kids. Both can be seen in various pictures/at various events with little kids; Yang Mi has also mentioned recently that she always talks to Vincent Zhao (her male costar in her currently-filming Da Wudang movie) about his kids, and gets "parenting advice" from him. In addition, Yang Mi has mentioned quite a few times that she admires/is wistful of her married friends who have kids and a loving husband. Meanwhile, we have FSF saying that there are lots of "big brothers" beside him who treat their wives very good, and this is an aspect he very much admires about them!

We also have both of them bemoaning their single statuses in various interviews, and lamenting the fact that they're all alone but do wish for love. But then, Yang Mi goes on to say that she's so busy all the time no guy would want to date her, while Feng Shaofeng has gone on to say that he's so busy he has no time to be a proper boyfriend and would not receive a "passing grade". Uhhh...so basically you guys are proclaiming to the world that no guys/girls should ever want to date you...? (Not exactly something I'd expect someone who is "single and looking" to announce...just saying'. ) Before that, FSF also mentioned he hopes to have a girlfriend, where both of them would work hard for their careers alongside one another. (Sound familiar?? After all, YM and FSF are two of the hardest-working actors I know in the Chinese entertainment industry today!!)

(Excuse me while I try in vain to stop myself from saying the obvious...and what we're all thinking, I'm sure! How about I just leave it as...FSF/YM you two just get on with it already and stop keeping everyone waiting!!!! )

Exciting potential new FengMi appearances together!!!

Yang Mi/Feng Shaofeng to promote a line of engagement rings/jewellery for "I Do"???!!!!!!!!!!

I have been on a euphoric high the past 2 days but didn't post till now because I wasn't sure this news was true--however, FSF's assistant just reposted the news on her weibo so I am now fairly confident this at least has a high probability of working out. Apparently, "I Do"--the jewellery company that FSF is a spokesperson for (this was the event he attended in Wuhan back in August on QiXi; recall this is also the company that made the necklace which the hosts made FSF put on YM during their ChaoJi interview) recently released a weibo stating both YM and FSF will be doing a promo event for them on Nov 30th!

What what what??? And in particular, it's to promote a new line of "Paris"-themed engagement jewellery? (The line is entitled "Champs Elysees Kiss" and apparently the designer, Philippe Tournaire, is coming from France with a specially designed set of jewellery that he custom-made for Yang Mi???) This line also includes their newest set of engagement rings, which is actually quite gorgeous and ingeniously designed--the diamond sits atop an Eiffel Tower design which wraps around the band! (*cough*FSF-should-just-take-the-opportunity-to-propose-on-the-spot*cough* ummm...just kidding....*shifty eyes*) I can't imagine what this is going to be like, FengMi promoting a brand that specializes in wedding/engagement jewellery??? Can you imagine the goodies we are going to get out of this one??? *dies* *tries not to get my hopes up in case it doesn't go through*

I'm actually quite surprised YM/FSF agreed to do this promo together since it seems like they've tried to avoid this type of thing--in the past they've only appeared together to promote their dramas/movies, or at awards shows etc; they've never endorsed anything commercially as a couple. (Maybe they've just gone crazy and can't take it anymore since they haven't seen each other in 2 months, so they'll take any excuse...After all, Yang Mi *did* just blatantly post "miss you" on her weibo. O_o Sure we don't know who it's meant for...but any educated guesses anyone?? Bwahaha.)

(Or maybe they are *actually* announcing their engagement...ok ok I really am just joking with that one, it'd be a really tacky way to "come out" anyways. )

Yang Mi/Feng Shaofeng to *actually* appear on CCTV's 2012 Chinese New Year festivities???

Also, the rumours about FengMi performing at the CCTV Chinese New Year show in 2012 may actually be true!!! I didn't believe them at first (plus YM denied the rumours at the Da Wudang press conference--but hey, we all know she is a good liar in front of the media! :P), but apparently YM's agent has now confirmed that they received the invite to attend! Not much is known on FSF's side, but apparently, someone who attended one of his "White Vengeance" promo events wrote on weibo that when he was asked about it, he only smiled/laughed in reply without giving an answer...verrrryyyy suspicious indeed! I also saw another interview where he replied, "We'll see." Hmmm...not admitting or denying it?! Perhaps YM has already been confirmed while they're still working out the details with FSF? (Fingers crossed it'll go through...however, don't get your hopes up--even if FengMi are confirmed, I hear that CCTV often has a long lineup of potential performances but by the end a lot are cut out.)

Speculation: Matching necklaces??!!!

Ok this one really is moving a bit too far into unfounded speculation territory for my comfort, but hey, I've already gone off the rails slightly in that last section so what is a bit more, right??

Yang Mi recently appeared at a promo event to promote a line of women's watches by Cartier. Now...some sharp-eyed fans noticed that the necklace she wore has a striking resemblance to a certain necklace Feng Shaofeng wore back in August--coincidentally, at the "I Do" promotion event!!

So, I know that "ring-on-a-chain" necklaces are relatively common, but the fact that it is an "I Do" necklace, and since Yang Mi has apparently also gotten on board with the endorsement for that company, I don't think it's too much of a stretch to think it's a matching one? (Again: this probably means nothing, it could probably just be necklaces that "I Do" gave to both of them to help promote their jewellery...but still, it's cute nonetheless! XD)

Hello everyone! JoleCole has kindly given me the power of adding my own posts to her lovely FengMi shipper blog now that she can't keep up with the never-ending onslaught of FengMi cuteness. (Just kidding. ) Unfortunately (or fortunately, as the case may be) I'm not quite sure she realizes what she is in for...because I'm not going to be able to contain myself any longer! I've been trying (often in vain) to not go too overboard in the spcnet forums and swamp YM/FSF etc. threads with FengMi stuff. Well, here it's no longer a problem so without further ado, I shall gush, fangirl, and squee away to my heart's content!!!

Sorry everyone for taking so long for my first posts, but I hope you enjoy! ^_^ Took me longer than expected to compile everything. My megapost of small FengMi observations over the past 2 months, as well as a compilation of FengMi tidbits in Yang Mi's "Birthday Party" episode are in the previous 2 posts. However, I've decided that in this slow time of no FengMi public appearances (both YM and FSF are filming separately right now), I'm going to go back and compile various videos of them from the past year or so.

Adorable Promo Ads for Hunan TV + "Gong" BTS

First off, I put together FengMi segments of various "Gong" tidbits. Some of you may have already watched part or all of it, but for those who haven't, this is much too adorable to pass by! Don't forget to turn on the captions if you need English subs!

I'm sure most of you FengMi fans have watched "Gong"...but, have you seen the promo ads they filmed for Hunan TV, as well as these cute BTS snippets? (Sorry for the low quality of some of these clips, it's the best I could find...)

Includes:

1) Promo ads that were aired directly prior to the final episode of "Gong" in February, to get viewers to tune into the finale. Hunan TV also got YM/FSF to help promote the series that was to be aired right after "Gong"--"Hui Jia De You Huo" (回家的诱惑, i.e. "Temptations on the Way Home").

2) FengMi cut of all the filming BTS from "Gong".

3) FengMi cut from an 11-minute long fan-taken video, thanks to several FSF fans who visited him on the "Gong" set last summer. October - November FengMi Tidbits Megapost

Unfortunately, in the past 2 months both FSF and YM have been busy filming their separate movie projects, so it's been a long time since the two of them have come together (not since the end of September when they both filmed Gong 2 together!). However, there are still lots of cuteness to be found from their weibo posts, as well as interviews in which FSF/YM are asked about each other. (I haven't even included all of FengMi's "lovey-dovey" weibo posts in here since they don't, obviously, reference each other at all. But I can't help but "awwww" when I read them and wonder if they're meant for one another...)

Disclaimer: this post contains a lot of speculation and minor thngs that allude to/reference FengMi only; sadly, this is all we can go on when FengMi do not appear together publicly... Parts of this I've posted about in spcnet already, but some of it is completely new...

Yang Mi and Feng Shaofeng most DEFINITELY do NOT keep in contact with each other much!!! (...or do they?? )

Recently there's been (likely false) rumours that YM and FSF will perform together on CCTV's 2012 Chinese New Year show. Yang Mi replies that she hasn't been invited (too bad, I'd so love if this were true...in fact it would definitely make me watch the show again after several years of missing out! XD Come on CCTV, make it happen...) and, as she's done before, makes it seem like she and FSF are quite distant by doing the whole "I have no idea what's going on with FSF"-thing that she often does in interviews (saying she doesn't know if FSF has been invited).

Then the interviewer asks YM if she looks forward to it, and she replies: "I look forward to Feng Shaofeng..." Unfortunately, we never find out the rest of the sentence because she gets interrupted and looks away, laughing.

FSF (who, over the past few months, has finally learned to lie to the media without being tongue-tied just like Yang Mi ) similarly reiterates in an interview that he and YM are just good friends; he adds that actually, they do not contact each other that often because they are both super busy filming, but when they meet up occasionally, they are on great terms and would read news about each other on the internet and see if the other person is doing well--he adds with a laugh that often news about him will always mention Yang Mi and vice versa! Then he says sometimes they chat with each other about each other's filming--but quickly emphasizes they mostly only chat about work-related stuff and that nothing more is going on. FSF goes on to talk about the fans' perspective and says, "Actually it is no longer important whether or not these two people [i.e. him + YM] are together or not, what's important is the friendship bond between us and mutual understanding."

Unfortunately...while both YM and FSF do a very convincing job of this "casual friends relationship" thing when asked directly by the media in interviews, both of them still manage to unconsciously let slip what *really* goes on behind the scenes!

Recall that Yang Mi made a Freudian slip during her "Birthday Party" episode (see previous post) and quickly corrected herself after saying they keep in contact "every day". Well, next it's FSF's turn to accidentally slip up...except he doesn't seem to catch himself.

FSF says they phone each other up to share stories of their filming experiences, and mentions that Yang Mi has bruises all over (she was doing a lot of martial arts stunts filming "Da Wudang") while he is lucky because "Taiji quan" (the type of martial arts he's doing) is a much "softer" form of kungfu. (I can so imagine Yang Mi playfully "撒娇" to him about all her filming injuries, LOL. )

Feng Shaofeng is YM's "Feng shu" ("uncle Feng")...or "Feng ge". Yang Mi is FSF's "Mi jie"...or "niu" (girl)...or is it--"mei mei"?! O_o

Recall that recently, FSF and YM have been referring to each other as "冯叔" ("Uncle Feng") and "妞" (girl). In fact, when asked about his "nicknames", FSF twice mentions that Yang Mi was the one who came up with the "uncle" nickname:

The host asks FSF whether he's heard about people calling him "shu sheng" (i.e. "uncle") lately.

FSF: "Actually this came about from a joke. In fact it was because of Yang Mi...Yang Mi, she calls me 'Uncle Feng', you know." Then he smiles and says he himself likes the nickname!

The host asks FSF about what nicknames he's aware of that fans call him.

FSF: "Like, 'Feng jiong', 'Feng jiong jiong', 'Feng shu'...Actually, personally, I don't really mind what other people call me, as long as it makes people happy. 'Feng shu' 'Feng shu', perhaps it's because...Yang Mi calls me 'Feng shu'. *smiles* Umm, in terms of my 'luck with female costars' it's not bad, but we're all just friends only, work colleagues, uh-huh...it's only because of work *clears throat* there are often lots of pretty girls beside me, that I work and film together with, and so on and so on..."

FSF, I think you got totally off-topic there...it's just a simple question about nicknames (this interviewer didn't even ask specifically about the story behind the "uncle" thing, as with the previous one), but he once again unwittingly mentions Yang Mi and then ends up going off on a tangent...perhaps realizing he shouldn't have mentioned her? Therefore starting to ramble on about the "just friends" and "just work"! (FSF, thou doth protest too much, methinks... )

Also read an interview with FSF focused around "Hou Gong" (the series he costarred in with Ady, soon to be aired). It's just a written interview--no video evidence--so take it with a grain of salt if you like. But in it, he's asked what he thinks of "jie-di" romances (i.e. older woman-younger guy relationships) since one exists in the drama between two other characters. FSF replies that he is quite traditional himself and cannot accept a "jie-di" romance for himself personally, and says he would probably like a girl younger than him. In the same interview, when asked about Ady and YM he laughs, "Ady An? But she's 'An da jie' ('big older sister An') to me! Me and her are the type where, on our birthdays, she only needs to write the four words 'Happy Birthday' on weibo and that's enough, that kind of friendship." ("da jie"="bigger sister"--despite the fact Ady is actually 2 years younger than him he still calls her "An da jie"). Then he continues: "And as for Yang Mi--right now are there still people who think me and her are a couple?" (Answer: ...umm, how about a resounding YES!!! Why, what do you want the answer to be, FSF?) He goes on to say, "Yang Mi, She's a 'mei mei' ('younger sister') to me. The fans hope that we are together, but it stops at their 'hope', I guess. Me and her, at the present time it is impossible between us." (Reminds me of their Chaoji interview where FSF replied, "Right now we are just friends." ) Also, why is he calling Yang Mi 'mei mei' now, while still calling Ady 'An da jie'? Ummmm, FSF, I thought all along you've also been calling Yang Mi 'Mi jie' like a lot of people do??? What's with the sudden turnaround from calling her "jie" to 'mei mei', huh??? (Not to mention, it's so weak to refute the rumours by calling her 'mei mei', because in Chinese, often when people refer to a relationship as "mei mei" and "ge ge" it doesn't strictly mean a platonic sibling-relationship, it could also be used to refer to a romantic relationship. For some famous examples, see Jia Baoyu calling Lin Daiyu 'Lin mei mei' from 'Hong Lou Meng', and Huang Rong calling Guo Jing 'Jing ge ge' from LOCH...)

THEN some reporters actually asked Yang Mi about this in her Da Wudang interview! No video again but here's what the reporter wrote:

一年合作5部情侣戏，提起杨幂，冯绍峰自然就会出现。而日前冯绍峰接受媒体采访时称杨幂是“妹妹”，一听到这个称呼，杨幂立刻笑了：“哈？他又说我了？又变了？不是叔叔吗？他现在不是跟我面前自称‘冯叔叔’吗？合着他还看心情的啊。”一连串大大咧咧的反问，让人觉得这俩人实在像是在过家家。

Translation: When we bring up Yang Mi, Feng Shaofeng naturally would come up too. And recently, during an interview FSF referred to YM as "mei mei". When YM heard about this way of calling her, YM immediately laughed, "What?? He was talking about me again? He changed it again? Isn't he "Uncle"? Right now doesn't he call himself "Uncle Feng" in front of me? It all depends on his mood huh."

Yang Mi says Feng Shaofeng is "slow"...

Of course, it isn't just FSF who can't help mentioning Yang Mi during most of his interviews...Yang Mi may avoid the topic in front of the camera, but behind-the-scenes, it might be a different matter entirely!

This is a BTS of FSF filming for a promo or something. The director asks FSF if he could possibly speak a bit faster today, because "last time Yang Mi was here, she said you speak really slowly."

FSF pauses for a minute (looking a bit confused), then this silly grin spreads over his face and he goes, "这她都说??" Loosely translates to: "She even said that??"--a phrase that is usually used to express annoyance but with that goofy smile on his face, he's clearly not actually annoyed (he probably just finds it sweet/endearing like he seems to do every time Yang Mi scolds/bullies him... ^_^ In fact I bet he's just feeling giddy that YM mentioned him while she was on the show, LOL. I guess he wasn't lying when he said he really "enjoyed/reveled in" getting yelled at by YM during Gong. ) But I agree with YM--he does talk a bit slow (mostly compared to her though--YM just reacts too fast to questions without missing a beat!) but I think it's more of a "thoughtful" type of slow, as if he's just thinking carefully/mulling over his words before saying them. Funny though--first Yang Mi complains his driving is too slow and now she's complaining that even his talking is too slow! (Once again though, reminds me of the super-quick-on-her-feet Huang Rong and her "slower" Jing ge ge...hehe. Yeesh, once JoleCole got that comparison stuck in my head it won't go away!!)

(Just read in the Baidu forums, some fans pointed that behind FSF, the girl (an assistant?) is giggling to herself when the Yang Mi thing is mentioned...pretty much my reaction, hehe!) Couldn't help but do a series of screencaps of this part:

Feng Shaofeng has no time to watch TV anymore. (That is, unless it involves FengMi...)

FSF posting about "Hou Gong" airing on his weibo: (Saying although he hasn't watched it himself, he's heard people say it's good and thanks everyone for supporting it. Previously, Ady posted about her and Lu Yi, another actress in the drama, watching "Hou Gong" together. FSF replied that he didn't have time to watch it yet.)

At 0:34, he says he has been so busy this year he hasn't really watched any of the TV series that came out.

We get it FSF, you haven't been watching because you're so busy...now contrast this with when MingYun was airing--he posted: "I watched parts of it--realized that whenever Mr. Liu Chenxi [his character] sees Hao Anqi [Yang Mi's character] he acts like a total lovestruck fool...it's taking my life" (Note: when MingYun was airing, Yang Mi was always gushing on about her and FSF's new series on her weibo! She used the catchphrase, "yao le ming le" to express her excitement. It literally translates to "it's taking my life", and basically expresses how excited she is--it's similar to when we use the expression "it's killing me", or "*dead*/I'm dying". Many fans and Feng Shaofeng also started using this phrase in regards to MingYun... )

(Yeah, he clearly only watched the FengMi parts and fast-forwarded through everything else, lol. And he seemed pretty busy at that time, too, yet he still managed to make time for it...then again, he's probably too scared to face YM's wrath if he didn't watch, heheh! )

Yang Mi, on the other hand, doesn't even bother to strongly promote her series unless FSF is involved. ^_^ In fact, people pointed out that after FSF's character died in MingYun, she pretty much ignored it too...and I don't think she even mentioned Chi Shuai on her weibo, despite the fact that he appears in 2/3 of the series (vs. FSF's 1/3) and she ultimately ends up with Chi Shuai's character.

Meanwhile...FSF even reposted a fan-made MingYun video on his weibo!!

I can't believe he blatantly reposted this FengMi fanvid! The original post mentioned that it would've been better if the video had a different ending (i.e. not having FSF's character die in the car accident).

FSF wrote: "The editing [of the video] is not bad! The song is very nice too! Actually it's no longer important anymore whether or not we're together, what's important is, two people really have a mutual understanding and acceptance! 'Uncle' wishes 'girl' will be forever happy/content!"

YM replied: " I will, 'Uncle Feng'~you as well~ "

Yang Mi continues to move up her "marriage date"...

When Yang Mi was interviewed at the end of 2009, she said marriage wasn't even on her radar. Just over a year later, and throughout the past few months she's been constantly mentioning how she would like to get married and is planning on marrying herself off before she turns 30 (within the next 5 years). Well...in the newest interview that just came out, Yang Mi jokes that she "definitely" plans to get married and have kids before "doomsday 2012" arrives!

想到2012年可能是世界末日,我就觉得很焦虑, 万一这是真的怎么办? 我还没有碰到我未来的老公啊,那样就死掉实在太划不来! 我一定会赶在末日来临前结婚生子, 那是人生必须的环节, 在我眼里没有婚姻的人生是不完整的.

Yeah, out of ALL the things she could do before the world ends (like, you know, how about doing some traveling? Trying out crazy stuff?), all Yang Mi can think about is she has to start a family. (Well, she's obviously joking--after all, the big day is barely a year away so Yang Mi will have to get married/pregnant in the next 3 months if she wants to achieve her goal--umm, yeah, not happening!--but it's still funny how marriage and kids seem to be always on her mind lately!) So basically, she keeps talking about marriage plans yet insists she hasn't met the guy yet. On top of that, she has continued to constantly repost "lovey-dovey"-related things on her weibo. Don't know about you guys, but I am SO not convinced this girl is "single"! XD (For his part, FSF, being a guy, is not nearly as overboard as she is on his weibo, but he certainly has his moments too--reposting things like being touched by a marriage proposal and "love is two merged into one"...)

Oh, and by the way, in that same interview Yang Mi talks about how she hopes to meet someone, who they can both love each other forever, respect each other, trust each other, and she is willing to give up her work for him. "Together, anything is possible--with him, I wouldn't be scared of anything." Alright, so I am totally biased of course...but this totally reminds me of FSF recently posting on his weibo about how the two of them have strong mutual respect and understanding. It also reminds me back in February when YM/FSF sang together onstage for the first time. Yang Mi said that she was very nervous, but having FSF beside her made her feel much more "safe/steady".

Yang Mi states she will for sure keep her love life private from the media and has no qualms keeping it a secret

I've never been one to take them seriously when FengMi adamantly state they are single/not dating/just friends. But, I know many fans in the Baidu forums get crushed every time they see an interview along those lines (to be fair, Yang Mi has always been very convincing in her interviews, and recently FSF has been getting quite convincing as well...I *almost* believe them...)

But, if you needed any proof that Yang Mi is fully prepared to lie through her teeth about her relationship, here it is!

Recently, at her "Tian Xia 3" promo event, YM was asked about celebs keeping their love lives/marriages secret. She replied that she fully supports celebrities that keep their relationships/marriages private, and said *if* she ever starts dating, she will definitely not make it public because as a celebrity so much of your life is already in the public eye--she doesn't want her love life to be the source of people's "entertainment" (ummm...kinda too late there, Yang Mi! XD). Then she goes on to say that she would never admit her relationship...unless the media manages to catch certain evidence of it! (Hmmm, is that a challenge, YM?? )

So I try not to post too much weibo stuff since for a lot of it, we can't know if it's meant for each other or not. BUT, this one is just too cute not to post:

This was from end of October, when FSF was finishing up the last of "Hua Pi 2" filming (i.e. the first movie FengMi pair up in). It took place in Tibet, where the high altitudes mean that many people suffer from lack of oxygen up there.

FSF: "Goodbye Tibet! If I don't leave now, 'Uncle' will really require some mouth-to-mouth resuscitation! "

Bwahahaha...(alright so maybe FSF is just making a casual joke--but after all, FSF/YM have recently been consantly referring to FSF as YM's "Uncle Feng"... ^_^)

FengMi shippers are everywhere. Seriously.

Not exactly FengMi-based, but I always find it funny that there are SO MANY FengMi shippers in China. Recently, Hawick Lau and Liu Ying (stars of the recently aired Hunan TV drama "Sealed with a Kiss") appeared on Happy Camp to promote their series. Funnily enough, Hunan TV decided to use this opportunity to push the Hawick/Yang Mi pairing (they will be starring together in "Ru Yi", a drama that will soon be aired on Hunan TV), so the hosts made Hawick Lau call Yang Mi during the episode. It hasn't officially aired yet but there's a leaked fan-taken video of it. Hilariously, despite them trying hard to push the Hawick/Yang Mi thing (and the audience did 'ooh' and 'ahh' at the right places), at the end the host asks Yang Mi who she would like to appear on Happy Camp with, and a couple people in the audience start whispering/muttering "Feng Shaofeng..." under their breath. Have to laugh that even this audience (who went to watch a variety show not at all related to YM or FSF) are such FengMi shippers. )

FengMi tidbits from Yang Mi's "Birthday Party" episode

So I have FINALLY finished translating and subbing Yang Mi's episode of "Birthday Party" (a variety show) that was aired in late September. The whole interview is very cute (start at Part I) but I'll only mention the FengMi tidbits here. (Most of this has been mentioned over on spcnet before but it's a compilation of everything.)

Yang Mi's blackbird/"8th prince" pet:

I was quite surprised to find out Yang Mi has a pet bird! Now, perhaps I'm reading too much into things, but in Chinese, this type of bird is called "ba ge" ("8 ge")--the same term used to refer to "8th prince". There's even been various jokes about FSF = "ba ge" (FSF himself jokes on his weibo about it, e.g. dressed all in black posing beside a "ba ge" bird). In fact, I wonder if her pet bird is the same "8 ge" that FSF referred to in a weibo post back in April, while they were filming MingYun together. He posted a pic of the bird and said,

"Today we saw a '8 ge' on set...just keep seeing Mi bullying it. "

I'm wondering if this is the same bird that Yang Mi now keeps as a pet? ^_^ (Perhaps someone gave it to her as a present, or maybe after seeing the "8 ge" on set she decided to keep it so she could continue "bullying/teasing" it to her heart's content at home...hehehe!)

FSF regularly visited the set of "Beijing Love Story" (BJAQGS)

Back when Gong was airing, Yang Mi was filming a modern-day series called "Beijing Love Story". Her male costar in the series, Li Chen, is actually a good mutual friend of both Yang Mi and Feng Shaofeng (in fact, he and another mutual friend Qin Lan had a blast back in February at the YuanXiao festival mercilessly teasing FengMi backstage!). Anyways, Li Chen comes as a special guest and reveals that every day while they were filming BJAQGS, Yang Mi would always be watching "Gong" on her iPad (we already knew FSF was watching it everyday!). YM starts getting a bit embarrassed and pats Li Chen's arm to get him to shut up, but he just keeps going and then says, "The key thing is, FSF would often come to visit the BJAQGS set!" The hosts go "Ohhhhh Feng Shaofeng..." in a sort of "we see how it is *wink wink nudge nudge*" type of way; YM gets even more embarrassed so Li Chen helps her out by saying FSF is there to visit him (both hosts are like "YEAH RIGHT!"), then YM cuts in, "Actually he DID NOT often come visit the set..." (Come on YM, cat's out of the bag now...no use in denying it!) This is so cute though--only one of FSF's visits (on Christmas Eve) was caught on camera (in the BJAQGS BTS clips); I thought it was a one-time thing, didn't realize it was a rather common occurrence!

Li Chen also mentions that often, whenever the director calls them to start filming, FSF would jump up before realizing, oops, he's actually not in the cast! FSF himself actually mentioned before, in the January JinYing interview, that while he was sitting together with the BJAQGS cast, Li Chen and Yang Mi would sometimes practice their lines (recall that they play a couple in this drama). And FSF would, out of habit, go to pick up the script to read the lines opposite her...before realizing that in this drama, he's not the one playing her boyfriend! XD

This starts off with them playing a video when FSF was interviewed back in March, while he was filming "Hou Gong" (currently airing in China, FSF costars with Ady An in here). FSF: Compliment her? Yeah I do compliment her, I do think she is really wonderful. I'm just speaking my honest feelings from the heart, is there a problem with that? I do very much admire/appreciate her, I don't deny it at all. I think she is a very talented/outstanding girl, whether it's her personality, or her hard-working/professional attitude towards work, or her different aspects of being direct/honest/carefree. These all make me really admire her.

Later the host asks YM about 4th prince vs. 8th prince in Gong and her real-life interactions with both; YM says that offscreen, she interacts with FSF more: "I communicate with FSF more. Everyday--no no I mean, not everyday, just often, we often see each other." Accidental slip-up, much? I bet they totally communicate with each other multiple times every day... (Also this clearly contradicts her LeTV awards acceptance speech where she lied saying she hasn't seen FSF in a long time...or her many media interviews where she pretends she doesn't really keep in contact with FSF that much. XD)

Yang Mi reveals Feng Shaofeng is "like a little kid"

At the start of the episode, the hosts ask Yang Mi to comment on 4 of her male costars.

YM on FSF: He can be like a little kid at times, when he does something very "manly" he keeps asking to be praised!

Lmao...this reminds me of their Happy Camp episode, when YM says FSF is very sweet; the host goes: "FSF, Yang Mi just said you're "SWEET"! We can't have that, come on prove that you're actually very manly!" Then FSF suddenly picks up YM and keeps looking at her with a proud "How do you like that, huh? Manly enough for you?" expression...only to have YM go, "Can you stop your arms from shaking!" Oh YM...never fails to crush the poor guy's hopes. (j/k, she does praise him too)

But anyways, I find it hilarious that YM freely "praises" the other 3 guys (Mickey as being generous, Li Chen as being the perfect boyfriend, HG as being educated and cultured)...yet all FSF gets is a rather insulting "he's like a little kid" comment. However, note that during her phone call on FSF's talkshow, the host asked her about her constantly "bullying" him. She replied: "Yes I like to bully him a lot, but really this is because I view him as one of 'my people', so sometimes I will say things like that; if it's someone I'm not that familiar with why would I say all of those things??"

Symphony of Fate (Ming Yun Jiao Xiang Qu) Currently Airing

Hello again to all the FengMi fans! I apologize for my lack of updates in recent months, but fortunately, our Mango_cake never fails to give us more FengMi goodies on spcnet.tv forum. I hope you all have been following her posts. If you haven't, no worries! I'll consolidate what she has been writing.

I'm sure those of you following FengMi closely are aware Symphony of Fate (a.k.a. Ming Yun Jiao Xiang Qu) is currently being aired on AnHui and ShenZhen TV stations right now. Ratings are good, but of course, definitely not as high as Gong. At first, I was pretty excited about this drama. After reading many reviews and spoilers, the storyline is really mediocre and the sweet FengMi scenes are what make it interesting for fans like us.

Here's what mango_cake wrote about her experience watching Ming Yun :

Although MingYun is advertised as an idol drama, I actually find that it's kind of a "cross" between a typical idol drama and a more serious Chinese modern-day drama (with the main focus on family and everyday life rather than romance). I find that many older chinese people like watching that kind of series, which I personally find incredibly dull (because it basically just follows people/families living their everyday lives, although meeting with more conflicts than normal people). Not sure it's a good idea to incorporate aspects of both...the younger audience who enjoy idol dramas will tend to get bored of the rest, while I don't know if the super-cute idol romance parts will appeal to the older audience who might enjoy the "family" parts more. (Even I am cringing at some of the super cheesy dialogue, although the intense looks between FengMi make it easy to ignore some of what they're saying, lol... XD)

I find their chemistry even better than in Gong, despite the fact that the relationship between their characters is terribly developed--in fact, while in Gong it took them a good 20+ eps to finally be together, in MingYun there is basically zero buildup/development because they start off the first episode pretty much in love already, LOL. I think if it were played by other actors the relationship wouldn't even be believable since it moves super fast. Actually, a lot of fans point out (and I kinda feel the same) that during the "QiXi" scenes, they feel like they're watching FengMi instead of QiXi! Especially with scenes where Anqi is all adamant about keeping the relationship a secret while Chenxi is all "let's go public!", as well as when Chenxi says they've known each other for 10 years already (something that FSF has actually said in his weibo a few times)...a lot of people comment the lines are being blurred between real-life vs "acting", heh. Although, it's a pity the kiss scene was clearly "jie wei" (i.e. not actual kissing--they just kiss each other's chin/cheek area instead of the lips; it's quite common to do this in Chinese series) so it looked a bit awkward.

Oh well, I'm just watching it to enjoy the FengMi segments which will tide me over till their better projects come out! But I actually do feel quite sympathetic towards Anna though...she does have her jealous moments but it's more due to her impulsive nature--after she calms down a bit she actually did end up putting her sister's best interests first and letting go of her jealousy. (Don't know if my sympathy for her will last once she continues in her downward spiral though...)

Anqi: "You look all quiet and gentlemanly on the outside, but actually you have quite a wicked streak don't you!"...Anyone else reminded of FSF seeming all super nice and innocent, but sometimes being quite sneaky (on weibo etc) and always trying to convince YM to add kiss scenes in their series?? Heheh...

Just two of the many "parallels" causing FengMi fans to repeatedly be thrown out of the drama into reality...or as some put it, they never even "entered" the drama in the first place, since we never really got to know the characters before they started dating.

I have a feeling both MingYun as well as Gong 2 basically exist just to satisfy all the FengMi fans' fantasies of YM/FSF in real life, lmao...

I just keep laughing while watching MingYun because of the real-life FengMi parallels (wondering how much of the dialogue was spontaneously added by FengMi--there was one scene in particular where I'm almost positive FSF added a line, because it's a phrase that he said YM always says during their Chaoji interview, and I swear FSF was slightly smirking mischievously at YM in that scene when he said it! ) Not to mention all the people who seemed to be FengMi shippers while wishing FSF happy bday; and now that Hong Men Yan is about to be released, FSF's producer of that movie is starting to look like almost as big a FengMi shipper as YM's DMGD producer, bwahahah! He actually replied to/reposted one of YM's newest weibos, which was all lovey-dovey but didn't reference anyone in particular, encouraging her/giving her advice on how to act towards "that person"...then someone asked him, "are you referring to your HMY actor (i.e. FSF) in your post?" The producer replied "I can't say!" Haha. Then someone else asked him if he was planning on inviting YM to one of the HMY promos or something (just like FSF surprised YM at her DMGD one) and he replied "Yes!" Not getting my hopes up that it will go through but it's cute that the producer seems all gung-ho about it. Btw, I believe this is the same guy that FSF recommended/praised YM to, and (semi-jokingly) asked him if he could make a FengMi collab possible in his next movie, LOL. I'm still suspicious about the guy doing this all for HMY promo's sake...but I felt the same way about the DMGD producer and he's still going strong even months after the movie box office run finished so who knows!

YM posted the photo above on her weibo and wrote "Aiya, this behind-the-scenes filming pic of Uncle Feng I've kept hidden for such a long time, finally I can share it with everyone! " That is just adorable. I remember watching a leaked video of them filming this scene (that's how the news of FSF's character dying in the series got prematurely leaked all over the internet). It was hilarious...at first YM is all devastated and crying hysterically while holding FSF's dead body in her lap, and you get all into her emotions...then the director yells "Cut!" and YM goes, "Omg how come you have this much blood?!" (Ok, maybe the way I described it is not that funny, but I started laughing at the way she said it. So cute.)

Then FSF responded with this...

I think I nearly died. Way to be obvious FSF. (Need I remind you guys that it was only a week ago that these two just spent a full day or two together filming Gong 2? ) I think he might be more obvious than usual in here for 2 reasons: as a prelude to reassure the FengMi fans/Yang Mi prior to the onslaught of FSF/FBB pics/posts that came after this one (the two were promoting their new movie together in a press conference); and also maybe as a subtle sign of support/reassurance for YM after the bad news about her upcoming movie role that fell through. Either way, so cute.

FSF's weibo chat:

FSF just did a weibo chat (along with a few other MingYun cast members). Hilariously, one person asked him what kind of feelings Chenxi has toward Anna in the series...FSF's reply? "His feelings towards Anqi are completely whole-hearted, a very pure love, just like the first love that everyone's experienced."

LOL. Dude, can he make his thoughts any more obvious...he's asked about Anna (Guo Zhenni's character) but apparently his brain just misread that as Anqi (YM's character) and pounced on an opportunity to gush on about their relationship in the series.

Another person asked him if he were Chenxi, would he really like a girl like Anqi? He answered that yes he would, he likes a kind and brave girl like Anqi! Heh, reminds me back when Gong was airing he kept saying he likes a girl like Qingchuan...

FengMi's Denies Link on Chinese Valentine's Day (QiXi) Weibo Posts

Some more fangirling due to a cute interview FSF did recently. He just became the spokesperson for Tissot (a Swiss watch company) and attended a promo event:

Now you know what is super suspicious?? Remember the two "QiXi" weibo posts YM/FSF made, that I posted about in the Gong thread? Well...both of them are now in total denial mode with the media! Reporters asked them about it separately (YM at her Ruyi press conference interview, FSF at his Tissot promo event), but YM said she can't remember posting it (oh come on YM, it was less than 2 weeks ago!) and FSF also said "I don't think so, I only posted about spending QiXi with Raymond Lam..." Then after repeated questioning from the reporter FSF says, "Yeah it was for my fans...who always love and support me." (Hmm, using his good friend and even his fans as a cover-up FSF? Wonder who you learned that trick from... ). The reporters even burst out laughing and couldn't stop the giggles because they so knew he was purposefully avoiding the question! XD

FengMi highlights:

Aww, just look at his cute smiles whenever he's talking about YM. First he gets SUPER excited about HP2, then says: "I have scenes with everyone, a lot of scenes with Yang Mi...*smiling dazedly*...and...Chen Kun." (Sure took him long enough to remember Chen Kun! XD)

Then he gets all happily embarrassed when asked to describe their relationship in MingYun ("it's just...a very pure love...between university students...I think..." *laughs cutely*). Good lord, FSF will it kill you to put on a straight face and just answer professionally when it comes to these YM-related questions?? XD He looks like a shy high-schooler talking about his crush, not an experienced actor who's been interviewed for years.

Previously in the Ruyi press conference, YM said she only had familiarity and chemistry with FSF onscreen, not offscreen. So the reporters ask: "A few days ago YM said you guys are only suitable to be a couple onscreen (FSF starts nodding repeatedly in agreement), were you sad when you heard this?"

FSF: *laughs* "Aiya, me and her...this is a point which we very much agree on! Even including directors--when they see us, they say 'I think you two are indeed this way--except when you're reciting the onscreen dialogue, whenever you guys talk about other stuff you will start to argue/discuss after a bit. But I think, Shaofeng, Yang Mi is really good to you and you to her, the two of you are really very considerate towards each other/always thinking for the other's sake.' "

LOL. This is hilarious, first he seemingly agrees with YM that yes, they are only good work-buddies onscreen...then he goes on to say that even the directors noticed how great they are towards each other off-screen. I don't get it FSF, are you trying to prove YM's point or disprove it?? And notice that he never actually states that they are only suitable onscreen, like YM had said. Sneaky guy...I can just imagine YM watching this and thinking, "Yes, yes, that's right, good job, finally he's going along with my perfectly planned out response...wait a minute, what did he just say?! NO, FSF, what are you doing, why did you add in that last part?? Totally unnecessary! Take that back! Argh... *facepalm* "

Anyways after that the reporter asks for clarification: "So the director said you guys often argue?" FSF: "No not argue, I never argue with her! We just have discussions, about our different opinions." (LMAO...yes we know FSF, you already mentioned before that whenever you two start bickering you're always the one to play nice and pacify her. I also find it funny that he doesn't say, "we never argue", he says "I never argue with her." Oh dear, YM totally has him wrapped around her finger...)

And finally the reporters ask if he will get annoyed by them repeatedly asking FengMi-related questions, FSF quickly says, "No no, because we are good friends--the kind that is forever." Is it just me, or does he really like to use the phrase "forever" when it comes to YM? (e.g. in an early weibo post he said that no matter what, he will forever support her.) He continues, "and we are also very good work costars, we've been through a lot of things together, from the start of Gong filming it's been a year that we've passed together, so I won't mind these questions." Awwww. And I believe it too--he never seems annoyed about the questions even one bit.

FSF keeps finding "underhanded" methods of giving us new awesome FengMi material, while outwardly seeming to go along with everything YM says. I can so see YM scolding him afterwards, then him doing his innocent face and saying "Huh? What did I say? Didn't I agree with everything you said? *wink*" (Not that he seems to even mind being scolded of course...since he apparently just finds it "sweet". ) And I bet YM can't be too mad at him--I mean, how can she resist that cute smile and all those sweet things he does for her/says about her?

It's funny that in her RuYi interview, YM crushed the hopes of some shippers by saying "We have totally different views, we don't agree on anything offscreen." And then FSF semi-agrees with her but "softens" the blow by putting it in a positive light--saying that they often have "discussions" about differing opinions (which is needed in any healthy relationship!) but being adamant they don't actually argue at all. (Good-natured teasing/bickering seems to be the usual for them though, of course! ^_^)

I also think it's nice of them to stick up for each other in interviews. What's sad is, unfortunately some FSF-only fans hate YM because they feel that FSF has totally fallen for YM but YM keeps giving him the cold shoulder (guess they don't want their favourite actor's heart to get broken...I just want to tell them not to worry! ^_^). And likewise, some YM-only fans hate FSF because they feel like he's just "using" her to get more popular/famous (since he's always the one leaking FengMi stuff uncontrollably while YM is constantly refuting the rumours, and because YM was more famous than FSF prior to Gong airing).

So, in several interviews YM has gone on record to refute the "FSF is using her to get more famous" rumours. And likewise, FSF has said several times (like in this interview) that YM is really very good to him. (Unfortunately, it isn't enough to change the minds of some fans...others, happily, do seem to come around. Oh well, I will just patiently wait for the day when they stop denying it, I bet all their individual fans will also become FengMi supporters then! ) And of course, they are always so supportive of each others' work, too. It's just so endearing to see...

Painted Skin (Hua Pi) 2 Casting Decision

I read somewhere recently an interview with one of HP2's producers. He said he did not choose YM/FSF to act in HP2 because of their huge popularity after Gong (he said he doesn't really pay attention to idol series anyways), but because when the two of them auditioned/screen-tested together, he was extremely impressed by their unique chemistry and said their "aura" together was something he had never seen before. Definitely looking forward to their storyline here!

I don't know exactly what the process was...I'm guessing that they were probably invited to audition together because of their huge popularity after Gong, but ultimately they were chosen because of their amazing chemistry together. I just went back to read that article--sorry, what I posted above isn't very accurate (it was awhile ago so I forgot the specifics). It was actually HP2's producer Chen Guofu that said it, not the director. Sounds like he had a big say in the casting--he probably was not the one who invited FengMi to audition (he seems to be one of those film "snobs" who doesn't think highly of idol dramas, lol! He doesn't seem to be that aware of or excited about FengMi's enormous popularity, either--making it all the more impressive that he chose them!).

In regards to Yang Mi, he said: "It's not that her fanbase is not good, it's just that for me, this is not the key for choosing actors. In deciding on YM and FSF, it was only because the two of them screen-testing together gave me a completely different feeling, the "charisma/aura/feel" of the two of them together is something that no other actors can compete with/compare to." Considering he's directed/produced a lot of big-budget popular films, involving many famous actors, this is very high praise! He also goes on to say, "How long can an actor's popularity last? Right now maybe she is extremely popular, but one of my projects may take 2 years, so really what good is it to grab a currently "hot" actress?" (In talking about the fact that he did not choose YM because she is one of the most popular, "hot" actresses at the moment.)

I keep being surprised by how many of YM/FSF's directors/producers seem to be so pro-FengMi! (Mind you these are all middle-aged/older men who have been in the industry for a long time...so definitely not your typical "celeb couple shipper". ) I mentioned this before but YM's DMGD producer has got to be the most obvious about it on his weibo. In fact, he's been so blatantly and unabashedly shipping the two of them (even pretty much declaring himself a "FengMi") that it seems like many people have been accusing him of just faking this for publicity's sake. He recently reposted a FengMi shipper's weibo picture and added rather indignantly: "Stop telling me constantly: 'The movie has already finished its box office run, you don't need to promote anymore.' Well can I not just genuinely/wholehearted love FengMi?"

Actually to be honest I myself previously also wondered if he was just exaggerating it because he wanted more people to go watch DMGD. But indeed, it seems pointless for him to continue now that the movie hasn't been in theatres for awhile... Personally, I think he must've been involved in FSF's secret surprise for YM at her DMGD promo event, so I bet the producer was just really touched by it--thus making him a diehard FengMi shipper.

Recently FSF gave very high praise for HP2 and seemed super excited about it too. (Yeah I know he's one of the mains, but he doesn't seem like the type to just shamelessly promote his own series/movies so I believe him when he says it'll be really good!)

I assume the fox demon mentioned was Zhou Xun's character in HP (didn't she use her powers to revive Zhao Wei and Chen Kun's lives?) who encountered the beauty of "love" in the human world. No idea how everyone else fits in.

I must give mango_cake a loud applaud for her great translation work. She does a wonderful job trying to convey the original poetic feel of Chinese language into English. Even though I can understand Chinese/English pretty well, translation is definitely not my forte! I always tend to do a literal translation and the translated text always end up too bland and "unprofound."

14th China Film (Hua Biao) Awards

The almighty CCTV held the biennial Hua Biao Award Ceremony on the evening of 28th (Beijing time). Many famous directors, producers, and stars attended the event in resplendent garbs. Attendees included Andy Lau, Jackie Chan, Eva Huang, Liu YiFei, Huang XiaoMing, Hu Ge, Shawn Yue, Charlene Choi, our very favorite FengMi, and many more I wish I could continue to list. FengMi didn't receive any awards but they were presenters and walked with their respective movie cast/crew to promote their new projects. YM first walked the red carpet with Shawn Yue for her new movie ChunQiao and ZhiMing. Liu YiFei and FSF paired up for the red carpet walk with their White Vengeance producer and co-star. After they finished with their first red carpet walk, FengMi then ran back in line and paired up to walk with their Painted Skin 2 cast/crew. Check out the new interview by CCTV below!

Awww...I think this is the same moment as the previously mentioned one where YM pretends to stomp away angrily and FSF pulls her back in. OMG I am dying to see video of this! (Btw, according to fans on baidu, they speculated that at first Mei-Ah was against YM/FSF's relationship being too public--probably since they wanted to keep YM's male fans using her "hot young single" status LOL. I didn't pay attention to FengMi back then so I don't know what basis they have for this. However, ever since I've been paying attention Mei-Ah seems to also be a huge FengMi shipper so they must've come around--probably couldn't resist their cuteness like the rest of us! ^_^

The much awaited, anticipated backstage FengMi interview CCTV has finally been released today. Our mango_cake never fails to provide us with the translated goodies! Enjoy! Your heart will burst with FengMi sweetness.

Guys. I...officially have no words. I will let these two do the talking. (CCTV finally released the backstage interview, the cuteness begins at around 0:29--as always, turn on captions for english translations.) I paused the video about 10 times to look at the adorable looks on their faces. I don't even have a smiley right now to represent this moment. (How about they make a smiley melting into a puddle of goo on the floor?)

Hilariously, after FSF posted up the photo he took of YM at the Lux-sponsored awards show, the next day some person wrote up an article titled "FSF 'tou pai' Yang Mi". I have to feel sorry for the poor guy--YM was clearly smiling sweetly right at FSF in the photo, knowing he was taking a pic of her...no sneaky stuff involved! Meanwhile YM was actually the one who "tou pai" FSF (since he had his head down playing with his phone in the pic she took of him, clearly unaware that the sneaky girl was taking a snapshot!). Yet YM escapes completely unscathed and FSF ends up with the "crime".

Reminds me after the HFCQ press conference (early March), someone managed to get a shot of FSF that looked like he was secretly staring at YM's...err...chest area. (When really it was probably just taken at a moment when he was glancing down.) The pic then spread all over the internet and certain reporters even wrote up stories saying "FSF 'tou miao' Yang Mi". ("Tou miao" = secretly peeking at someone without their knowledge; has a pretty derogatory connotation.) Hilariously yesterday I just saw a "FSF-hater/basher" in the Baidu forums use this pic as his display pic! (Don't want to post that pic here but this is a link: No, this is NOT what it looks like!)

Well as you can imagine...when FSF got wind of this he was NOT happy. He posted an indignant response to this incident on weibo and sarcastically "praises" the photographer, lmao... (Note: "tang er huang zhi" means openly/boldly, with no hint of hiding or doing anything sneakily/secretly at all.)

FSF: "Tou miao"? I've looked at her plenty all this time over these years, do I really need to "tou miao"? I've always looked at her "tang er huang zhi"! But this photographer's skill is not bad, at that moment the photo he captured really makes things look that way...pretty good pretty good, a real believable photo! Strongly makes me want to get into photography, thinking back in the old days I used to play with cameras too. : )

(I have to admit when I read this I burst out laughing at the "I've always looked at her openly/for many years" bit--lmao, FSF do you realize how this phrase can be (mis)interpreted by less innocent minds?? We get it FSF, you were not sneakily peeking at her here--but did you really have to add that next part? Omg...this is just like his typical interviews and that angry post explaining his Valentine's Day message, it's all well and good for him to post that the message was not meant for that fake rumoured girlfriend, but then he just has to go and add that it was meant for YM. I can just imagine her facepalming over and over again when she's reading FSF's weibo. ) And I just find it hilarious that he always gets so defensive/angry only when it comes to things related to YM--sure way to get him all fired up! (Don't even remember him getting this mad about any of the other distasteful rumours that relate to him only.)

And now, just cause I feel like it, I'm taking this opportunity to post ADORABLE pics of FengMi at that press conference! (Even though it is from way back.) Seriously, I dare you to look at these and say they are "just friends"...or perhaps I really am just blinded and biased by my total FengMi adoration. >_<

2011 LeTV Entertainment Awards

Beijing Time- On the evening of Friday, August 26, 2011 FengMi attended the LeTV Entertainment Awards to accept their win in "Most Popular Actor/Actress in Asia & Pacific" category. Other famous attendees included Tang Yan, Cecilia Cheung, Christy Chung, Nick Cheung (Cheung Ka Fai），etc. FSF was supposed walk the red carpet with YM, but she had prior work commitments before this event and couldn't make it in time. But they somehow managed to meet up later and walk to their seats together with YM holding on to FSF's arm. According to FengMi fans who also attended this event, both FSF and YM left at the same time in their own separate vehicle. Translated backstage interview below!

So the one sad thing about this event was that YM once again couldn't make it in time for the red carpet so FSF had to walk down alone just like last time. BUT, apparently he did not go directly to his seat, but actually waited for YM to arrive--people said the two of them did not take their seats until towards the end, when both of them arrived together (with YM apparently holding onto FSF's arm?! Still desperately trying to find pics/vids to verify this bit). However some awesome person did manage to snap this (albeit very blurry) pic of them backstage: (are they holding hands?? shaking hands?? whatever, it's adorable!)

This is funny: at one point YM decides to go sit with Yao Di (a couple of seats over from her + FSF's seats) so the two of them can catch up. Seems like she switched places with Cecilia Cheung. Anyways, later the host comes down to interview them--she asks YM: "I find it really strange, why is FSF is sitting so far away from you, and went to sit over there??"
YM pretends to be all innocent and teases, "I don't know, go ask him!"
Host: "I see that Miss Cecilia Cheung is sitting beside him now, did he specially move over there because of that?"
YM: "Hmmm, maybe indeed!" (Lol, every time she tries to put the "crime" on FSF's head, haha.)
Host: (walks over to FSF, who is pointing at YM) What? You are saying it was YM who specially moved away?"
But before FSF can explain, the host starts asking about Cecilia; FSF says they actually collaborated on some project once several years ago. Then he changes the subject back, saying: "I want to make this clear/explain this--it was actually Yang Mi who walked over there herself!" (Haha. Yes, FSF, we all know you wouldn't be the one to "ditch" YM! XD And while FSF explains, Cecilia is hiding her mouth behind her hand laughing...seems like she finds their "bickering" just as amusing as the rest of us! XD)

To a lot of fans' shock, when their names are announced, Yang Mi is the one who voluntarily and immediately reaches to grab FSF's hand this time! O_o She actually first pats his arm and then the both of them hold hands/get up in unison like it's the most natural thing in the world. (Well, since these events are the only time they can hold hands in public, guess they want to make the most of it. ^_^) Then their acceptance speeches are full of cuteness! YM starts off all cold and aloof as usual...until she turns to FSF during her speech and then she starts giggling/laughing like she always does when he's there. YM says, "We haven't seen each other in a very long time!" (Um, excuse me, YM?? Her definition of "very long time" is clearly very different than ours! The two of them just saw each other at the Lux event, and even if you don't count that, they were filming HP2 together until very recently. Then again...YM seems to live in a world where she has 100 hours a day to work, so time probably feels longer to her. Still, blatant lie much? Guess she's still trying to convince the world that they are "not that close". Kinda defeats the purpose though when she gives it all away by her actions, hehe...) Anyways, the first thing FSF says is, "congratulations YM!", then he teases, "invite me for dinner later!" (*wink wink nudge nudge*) YM laughs; at one point she considerately reaches over to help adjust FSF's microphone since it's a bit short for him. Too bad the video cuts off prematurely because supposedly they also held hands while walking off the stage too!

I just found out from FSF that he and Cecilia Cheung are actually acquaintances. They collaborated in a TV drama about a famous Chinese actress called Zhou Xuan 7 years ago. What small world after all! YM is a big fan of Nicolas Tse while FSF worked with Cecilia Cheung before.

It's so cute when they tease/bicker with each other. At one point FSF even makes a "fat joke" with YM (saying she had a "double chin" because they both ate a lot during Gong filming). It's also great how they are very supportive of each others' work and seem to trust each other a lot; YM even jokes that FSF has other beautiful girls (i.e. Cecilia Cheung) sitting beside him, lmao...

On August 19, 2010, both YM and FSF attended the same award ceremony held in Beijing. However, they both arrived at different times. FSF got there early while YM was busy with her work and got there much later.

I simply cannot resist another FengMi fangirl update due to their adorable weibo updates!! XD (Forgive me for veering a bit more into speculation territory than usual...) So this time the organizers decided not to have FengMi sit next to each other; instead they arranged for them to sit opposite (the stage sort of sticks out in the middle, so both of them have front-row seats but directly across from each other).

Anyways, first FSF posts this: (pic is blurry because FengMi are sitting really far away from each other so he had to REALLY zoom in; and yes those 3 hilarious smileys are what he posted!)

Omg!!! Btw the girl next to YM is her agent who seems to also be taking a pic of FSF, haha.

I swear these two must've been having fun texting/taking pics of each other during the whole event and then teasing one another on weibo, lmao. By the way, these were the ONLY two weibo updates FSF/YM made about the whole event. Yup, even though they both got awards that night and I'm sure they had lots of other friends there, they don't bother to post anything else. ^_^ (Well FSF is so obvious about it while YM is super subtle...perhaps we are over-speculating and she really does mean to just post about Jane Zhang, and FSF was just there as a fluke...but really?! It seems totally her style to "use" her other friends as a "cover-up", hehe.)

Even FSF's assistant couldn't resist teasing them on weibo, saying that them two sitting opposite each other reminds her of a song (loosely translates to "two people gazing at one another"). ^_^

The official weibos of the event organizers as well as Lux (the sonser?) kept posting news updates of the event, e.g. the stars walking the blue carpet. When FSF came down alone, the organizers posted: "Red carpet. FSF arriving. Where is Yang Mi?" The Lux weibo also posted, "FSF finally walked onto our blue carpet, welcoming him was a ton of interviewers' microphones; but how come we don't see Yang Mi?" And right before the event started, Lux posted up a pic of YM's empty seat (with her name written on it) showing Chen Shu and Lu Yi's seats beside her (note Lu Yi apparently left early on into the show which is why YM's agent took his seat later on), with the text: "To answer the questions of a large number of fans, we went to check out the setting...the answer is revealed, FengMi's seats are not next to each other." I guess many fans then continued to ask exactly where FSF was sitting, so Lux then posted: "FengMi's seats are 'gazing at each other across the stage'".

See what I mean about everyone in China being a FengMi shipper these days? XD (Makes me feel less crazy; this real-life-people-shipping is still new to me and I sometimes feel like it's an invasion of their privacy...but I just cannot resist!)

Anyways I totally admit that I and other FengMi fans may be going overboard with the speculation on this one so you can ignore that post if you'd like! ^_^ Actually if it weren't for FSF's post, I wouldn't be making this connection at all. However because it exists (thank god for FSF's obviousness) I think it's pretty suspicious that the two are linked...I mean, YM is never going to be obvious about it like FSF is, so this is probably the best we can get in terms of "YM taking a FSF pic". Again, we may be overthinking it, but over the past while it seems to be YM's style to do these subtle little things on her weibo that seem totally innocent if you do not look at it from a FengMi perspective, but looking at it from another view it's like she's giving us FengMi shippers little hints all the time! For example...I didn't post about it before because it's also a bit too much speculation...but recently YM's followers on weibo broke the 8 million fans mark. Coincidentally, at that moment the number of posts on her weibo was "1818"--sounds exactly like the phrase for "want 8, want 8" in Chinese--don't forget FSF=8th prince. Btw I don't think YM posted anything at all when her weibo fans broke 7 million. Now this might all just be coincidence of course. However, now check out the "screenshot" she posted:

Weibo has a feature that adds a personal watermark to the bottom right corner of any image you post. So if you look carefully you can actually see that YM "stole" this particular picture from a weibo called "FengMi discussion group". Out of all the many YM fans who made sure to screencapture this special moment (many of whom posted much higher quality pictures than this one), doesn't it seem suspicious that YM chooses to copy the pic from a FengMi shipper weibo? (If FengMi rumours are false why would she want to associate with it? She could easily have grabbed it from any one of the "YM-only" fan weibos. And it's a surprise she even knows this weibo exists because it is actually one of the "smaller" FengMi shipper weibos.) But again, most people wouldn't pick up on this detail because it's very, very subtle. I think YM was in a slightly more generous mood and decided to throw us FengMi shippers a bone (in her typical sneaky fashion). It's quite funny...FengMi shippers get plenty of hope from obvious stuff due to FSF (when he just can't seem to contain himself), while YM always seems to be crushing the hope (in media interviews etc by mercilessly shooting down the rumours--causing many FengMi shippers to actually be mad at her) but really in an "underhanded" way, I find that she's giving out just as many cute hints--you just have to read between the lines. ^_^

Call me crazy, I admit it! Some things can indeed be interpreted in many ways...but put it all together, and there seems to be too many coincidences to be just mere coincidences.

CCTV's FengMi Reporting: YM & Her Male Co-Stars

CCTV (China Central Television Station) is the biggest broadcasting organ in China whose tentacles reach the most remote parts of China. This TV station is a government entity that usually airs no nonsense programs and proper news.

Funnily, even CCTV, the official TV station in China, is a total FengMi shipper! I think I mentioned the subtle bits they did before, but awhile ago they were SUPER OBVIOUS in a news piece they did on Yang Mi--during her DMGD celebration press conference, they asked YM for her opinion on many of her male costars.

Yang Mi actually just gave pretty generic, professional, media-tailored answers to all of them but it's hilarious how biased CCTV is!

First they show two of her series as a kid; obviously YM doesn't remember her male costars much! Then there's a quick section on HG...I have to laugh at how anti-GeMi CCTV seems to be: "After growing up YM's representative series was CP3 with HG, but the two did not have much chemistry. When talking about him, Yang Mi only briefly and lightly touched upon him." Then CCTV sticks a big "NOT FAMILIAR/STRANGERS" caption on the screen. Despite the fact that, in the interview, what YM actually says is simply that they haven't seen each other in a long time, but they did have lots of fun working together.

Then CCTV goes into full-blown shipper mode and starts posting clips of FengMi in the HFCQ/MingYun press conferences + HFCQ series clips (please let this be a sign that CCTV is broadcasting it soon?!). All while saying: "In 2010 YM and FSF started to work together...FSF became the most important male costar in Yang Mi's life...the two became the most popular onscreen couple." The big caption they put for FengMi is, "FAMILIAR/HAVE AN UNDERSTANDING". When in reality, YM jokes "Aren't you guys sick of seeing us together repeatedly?", then goes into full-out "let me crush the FengMi rumours" mode, saying: "Actually our personalities are very different, some of our opinions we can never agree on! Really the most familiar/understanding things we say to each other are our onscreen dialogue. We do really have a lot of familiarity onscreen."

Then they ask her if she feels jealous after FSF praised LYF (his Hong Men Yan costar) at the movie's press conference awhile ago (info was posted in his thread). However, I actually have to thank this reporter for asking such a ridiculous question! Because her answer is rather suspicious...now wouldn't you expect YM to answer something like, "Why would I be jealous, we're just friends." EXCEPT SHE DOESN'T SAY THAT. Instead YM goes, "Yes, I saw that [interview]."--so she's been paying attention to all his news, huh?!--"Nah, I won't be jealous, because actually me and Liu Yifei are good friends; including now, we still have very good relations; *cute laugh* So, who cares what he says? *giggles*"

YM: who cares what he says? [in response to FSF's praise of his White Vengeance's co-star]

Hmm...really now? Doesn't that sound more like the way she would answer about a boyfriend rather than just a mere friend?? The reason she's not jealous is because he's just praising one of her good friends? Anyhow, then they ask her about Tony Leung and Nic Tse (male actors she will work with/would like to work with), but again it's very brief.

Oh CCTV, way to be obvious...the segment on FSF was practically longer than all the other guys combined! And they seemed to totally disregard YM's positive comments about HG/neutral comments about FSF, seemed like they were going "Lalala we're only hearing what we want to hear and interpreting everything you say in a FengMi light!" And here I thought CCTV was supposed to be the more unbiased, straight-laced TV station, not a gossipy station!

Chinese Valentine's Day (QiXi)

Forgive me for going on another FengMi fangirl squee session. This post is a bit too much "crazy obsessed fan speculation" for me to feel comfortable "spamming" FSF/YM's individual threads (where I have been posting most of the recent FengMi real-life interaction), so I settled for spamming the "Gong" thread instead for interested people.

A bit of background: Aug. 06 was "QiXi"--also known as the Chinese Valentine's Day. The day before, both FSF and YM were in Beijing filming Hua Pi 2. Unfortunately, they both had commitments in other cities on the actual day. YM returned to An Ji to continue filming Ru Yi. Meanwhile, FSF had flown to Wuhan the night before because he had a promo event to attend on QiXi--for "I Do", a jewelry company (also happens to be the company who made the necklace that the ChaoJi interview hosts asked FSF to put on YM back in March). (By the way, I kinda wish I was back in China right now...Wuhan being my hometown!! :'( But, I am comforted by the fact that FSF did all these lovely things while in my home city! XD Yes, random, I know...)

First, a disclaimer: I admit that, as FengMi fans, we are very biased and see everything through "FengMi-rose-coloured" glasses, and we also probably tend to over-romanticize things. So, perhaps I (and other FengMi fans) am linking too many events together that have nothing to do with each other, because FengMi obviously never name one another. (There are actually many more of FSF and YM's weibo posts that are very cryptic and vague...I truly feel it makes the most sense that these posts are meant for each other, but because we can't be sure of it I refrain from posting them. However, on QiXi, I really think that a lot of the events are interconnected in terms of FengMi and together they are truly so sweet/romantic. Basically, take it with a grain of salt and you guys can judge for yourself whether FSF/YM's words/actions on this day were meant for each other...

Note: FSF's good friend Raymond Lam was also in Wuhan that day for his own promo thing. (I mention him because FSF made 2 weibo posts on QiXi and the second one sort of relates to the first.) So the two "Feng"s met up the night before for karaoke and drinks. The next morning, FSF updated his weibo with a picture of the two of them and a post about their meeting.

This is definitely not the first time fans have asked him to sign YM photos--many also bring FengMi photos to sign--but this time he actually posted about it teasingly on weibo! Plus according to the fans he actually said even cuter stuff about YM while signing the photo but since we don't know the truth behind these, I'll refrain from posting it--I feel like this post is already leaning a bit too much towards speculation, lol...)

But to the person I truly care about, I am too scared to even open my mouth."

Aug 06, 1:07 PM: FSF makes his 2nd QiXi post: "On this type of day, I really want to say something to another most important person. Actually the more you care [about someone], the more there really is no need to say anything, often it is all teasing/bullying. Alright then, I wish everyone a happy holiday!"

YM often likes to post cryptic/poetic type stuff on her weibo (which drives fans crazy because they can't make heads or tails of it sometimes!). FSF on the other hand is often very straightforward on his weibo (no deep analyzing required to guess his meaning)--the exception being the cases where he seems to be replying indirectly to YM's weibo! e.g. his 2 QiXi posts--the first about Raymond Lam is typical straightforward FSF-style, no guessing required. Meanwhile, his second post and YM's post are vague enough so no one can really specifically pinpoint who they're directed to--but, it seems obvious that they are linked, especially considering FSF's post came only 13 min after YM's. Factor in the time for him to type up the post and sit on it for a bit to make sure it's suitably vague, and it pretty much came right after. Furthermore, the phrase he used for "teasing/bullying" is exactly the same phrase used during FengMi's ChaoJi interview (where he had a silly grin while saying YM always "teases/bullies" him). Seriously though, if these two posts are really meant for one another, how much sweeter can they get--YM basically said he is the person she "truly cares about" and FSF did her one better, saying she is "the MOST important person!" (On top of that, even if you look at it from a completely unbiased view, it certainly seems like both of them have a "significant other"...)

FSF "I Do" event--fans tease him about Yang Mi and he sings "Hong Dou"

In the afternoon of QiXi (after the above weibo postings), there was lots more cuteness at his promo event! Since "I Do" is a company specializing in romantic jewelry, the host asks FSF to talk about what "valuable, true feelings/love" means to him. Before he can even start speaking the entire crowd starts chanting "Yang Mi! Yang Mi! Yang Mi!" (LOL. I love this crowd.) FSF can only smile and rub his forehead/hide his face in cute embarrassment: (pic is blurry but you can't miss that goofy happy grin! )

The host laughs and says, "what, you guys all think that FSF's true feelings/love have to do with Yang Mi?" The crowd screams "YES!!!" in response. (Have I mentioned how much I love this crowd??) The host laughs again, saying "Nah!!!" and asks FSF to contine his answer. He says in his view it is really quite simple, for example being with family, e.g. eating a homecooked meal by his mom, or, being with a person he loves and spending their whole lives together (at this point the crowd starts going "aiya..." and you can practically feel all the fangirls swooning in the audience LMAO...a couple people once again yell "Yang Mi" ). He then goes on to say sometimes he sees elderly couples in the park walking happily hand-in-hand and he thinks being like that would make your whole life very satisfying and happy.

After that bit dies down, the host asks him if he would mind saying something on stage, as if he were expressing his true feelings to his special someone (and says all the fangirls in the audience can imagine FSF is saying it to them LOL...one person once again yells that it is "YM I love you!"--how cute are these fans? ). FSF laughs in a slightly embarrassed way at first (even cutely pushes his glasses further up his nose in nervousness), then finally replies, "How about I sing it instead?" (The audience starts screaming and swooning, even the host starts hyperventilating and stumbling over her words ) And THEN, he starts singing "Hong Dou!" (A very beautiful romantic song, but rather sad/bittersweet; originally sang by Faye Wong many years ago, later covered by Khalil Fong.) Once again this ties back into the FengMi ChaoJi interview in March, as he also sang a segment of this song there.

Here is the segment of the song he sang during the "I Do" event: "...But I, sometimes, would rather choose to keep loving and not let go. Wait until we have seen all the scenery, perhaps you will accompany me, to see 'xi shui chang liu'." (Note: "Xi shui chang liu" loosely translates to, after lots of careful persistence, dedication, and perseverence, you finally achieve something--in the context of this song it is obviously romance/love-related.)

What's worthy of note is, on July 12th (the day before YM made the "1-year FengMi filming anniversary" post), YM wrote on her weibo: "When will I have finally waited for the day when I have seen all the scenery, where is there someone who can accompany me to see 'xi shui chang liu'." (A clear reference to the song.) Interestingly enough, during the ChaoJi interview FSF actually sang 2 verses, starting from a previous section: "Sometimes, sometimes, I will believe that everything has an end; reuniting and separating, all happen at times; nothing endures forever...But I, sometimes, would rather choose to keep loving and not let go. Wait until we have seen all the scenery, perhaps you will accompany me, to see 'xi shui chang liu'." When he sang this during that interview, FSF actually messed up the second verse because he couldn't remember the words. But that second verse is the one that YM focused on during her July weibo post. And now, the second time FSF sings it, he skips the first verse entirely (the part he actually did know by heart before!) and directly starts singing only the second verse (which of course he knows all the words to now). So, that concludes my long-winded FengMi QiXi update! I didn't think it could top FSF's adorable weibo posts on the previous two "holidays of love" this year (i.e. Valentine's Day and "520" May 20), but somehow FengMi keeps getting better and better! XD

Sorry for my recent lack of updates! I got distracted with the new Huan Zhu Ge Ge remake and some other Chinese drama. Both FSF and YM have been mostly busy working on their own individual projects and have not made any public appearance together. Not much exciting FengMi news lately. Despite my slow blog update, I do try to keep up with their recent whereabouts in the "Latest News" page.

Anyway, here is what Mango_cake summarized awhile back regarding FengMi weibo interactions:

This is compiled from the past couple months so may not be new to some people. The weibo posts are not from fans though, they're all direct "twitter-like" posts from FSF/YM (except the one from YM's agent I posted), although of course the speculation is from fans! However the actual posts definitely cannot be twisted since it's right from the two of them. And just from the posts alone (without speculation), there is a lot of suspicious material there! Numerous weibo adorable posts are related to YM/FSF--which have been going on for months so there are tons, but a couple I remember now:

both YM and FSF's agents seem to have a great relationship and wholeheartedly support FengMi. When YM's agent thanked the "MiFeng" (YM's fans) for voting for her to get her the Baiyulan award on her weibo, one fan replied saying "What about the FengMi (YM/FSF fans)? We also worked hard to vote for her!" And her agent replied, "Aiya, MiFeng/FengMi, aren't they all just one family?" There are lots of cute "teasing" remarks like this on their weibos that seem to overstep the boundaries of how agents would typically act (especially if the two were not dating). Not to mention their good friends and other celebrities constantly teasing the pair in weibos/interviews/award shows (that have been posted before).
Both FSF/YM always watched Gong when it aired (even FSF said he never "chased" his own dramas before and felt that it was something ridiculous to do) and posted lots of related stuff (using their characters to flirt with each other!). After the episodes of lovey/dovey scenes between 4th prince and QC aired, FSF posted "Guys will also get jealous..." and then later, when their kiss aired: "How come they're kissing...how come I don't remember this scene...going to flip through the script right now" (Cue mental image of FSF in shock over that scene and frantically rushing to check the script, flipping through the pages to make sure it wasn't just improvised on the spot by Mickey/YM--like he is inclined to do with YM lol!) To which YZ replied teasingly "I added it in secret while you were away!"
Right before Gong finished airing in February, YM made a post on her weibo stating that she and FSF were just good friends. This caused a huge uproar--I think people were really overdramatic about this (although I admit I have the benefit of hindsight seeing what happened between them from March -> June). Fans felt this meant YM/FSF would never work out and said YM was so cruel to harshly reject FSF who was so sweet to her. I actually didn't think it was that bad--she just said "Me and FSF are very good friends, but that's it! I thank the fans for watching and loving our collaboration in Gong!" Previously YM had also made similar posts to refute the rumours of her + HG and her + MTY (in fact, the post about MTY was even "harsher", since she actually stated that they would FOREVER just be friends and nothing more was possible). However for some reason fans kept saying her HG/MTY posts were much kinder than her FSF post (understandable since it was probably a big hit to take for the fans). She later deleted the post (probably because of all the overwhelming outrage it caused, which I'm sure she did not expect!) Anyhow, the next day FSF posted a weibo saying: "She really is wonderful. She works so hard in her job, she treats her friends so sincerely! She faces all the enormous pressure with calm! She, is not made of steel, she also needs a tree to lean against! Friends are, the fans who love her are! She will forever have that piece of forest that is her own!" (I know it sounds weird in English but is quite a lovely analogy in Chinese.) Because he wasn't clear on who the "she" was in this post, it seems like many fans asked about this (there were a shocking 18156 replies to this post, I'm surprised FSF even read and replied to them!), anyhow, FSF responded: --Ok, first an explanation, YM's nickname everyone uses when discussing "Gong" is "Xiang Gu" meaning "shitake mushroom" (long story), so in this next bit "fungus species" refers to YM...forgive me for not being able to come up with a better way of expressing this in English because it comes across as quite derogatory but is actually a term of endearment for YM--FSF's post: "Of course it's that fungus species! Do you even need to ask! I will always support her! Doesn't matter what happens in the future, I ask everyone who loves me to help me support her!" FSF is not usually this "excitable" in his blog posts (as is obvious from his use of all these exclamation points), but he was clearly rather agitated/angry over this. (Unfortunately, many fans took this as further evidence that YM was being cruel to FSF while he kept on being so nice to her...eventually they came around though it seems.)
After YM was once again asked about having done plastic surgery during an awards show (where FSF was absent), the next day (correction: JoleCole pointed out this happened shortly after the show, after FSF watched it, not actually the next day) he posted a weibo saying (btw he did not outright say what his post referred to, but seems like it's the consensus of most people that it was in response to the YM plastic surgery-gate): "I can't bear it anymore, I still have to say it, starting from 10 years ago I started to film with her, back then she was already like this, refreshingly straightforward/frank, modest, hard-working! Throughout all these years, she has not changed at all, nothing nothing has changed! The only thing that has changed is she has used her own hard work to prove her own success! Don't keep discussing those ridiculous things, is it really possible? How could it be possible! The innocent one knows their own innocence, don't even need to explain it!" From the description it's pretty clear he's referring to YM, although it may be due to other rumours about her like articles insulting her character. However the bit about her "not having changed at all", and the fact that "the innocent one knows their own innocence" is a phrase YM often uses in response to people questioning her about plastic surgery, might hint at this. At any rate, again with all the exclamation marks and the sense that FSF is angry over it (when usually he is quite good-natured on his weibo). And the beginning, about how he has to say it, sounds like he's been stewing over this outrage for awhile but never mentioned it--in an interview YM mentions that often she doesn't even care about the rumours/gossip about her, but FSF is always very considerate about whether it affects her, to the point where he'll call her friends and agents etc to ask if she's feeling down. And she will constantly reassure him that it's really nothing.
In response to YM posting a photo of herself (from one of her sexier photoshoots), FSF posted: "...alright, be more "da qi", she is quite beautiful." Where "da qi" translates to being "big", ie "generous/magnanimous/open". Clearly giving off the feeling that he may be kind of jealous of everyone seeing these sexy photos but still praising her.

Honestly, this is not even a tenth of all the lovely YM/FSF related posts on their weibos! In a lot of them they do not outright name each other, but it's obvious they're referring to one another.

And YM has definitely been far more secretive about things (as far as I can tell), but she has her moments too! Also, in the past her weibo posts have always been rather sad (or so I've heard, I haven't actually been following her on weibo till very recently). However, all her posts these days are filled with happiness and love-related stuff...leading to fans to speculate that this is a reflection of a girl in love! ^_^

Through FSF's actions/weibo posts either he has totally fallen for YM, or he is just faking this for popularity or is a playboy/shameless flirt. And a) that so does not seem like his personality, and b) I don't see him being this way around other girls, so I conclude it's the former. As for YM, it is a lot tougher to gauge her feelings. However, as people in the baidu forum have pointed out, her "lack of" action is a pretty big sign. (One of her own weibo posts was even a rather cryptic post about "inaction is a type of action, no response is a type of response...") Her personality is such that if she had no feelings for FSF, she'd have no problem bluntly putting him in his place and making it clear she's not into him. All I see though, is her going along with everything and even smiling very sweetly/happily when he's being affectionate. I definitely don't remember YM/HG being this "friendly" when they were promoting CP3--while they were still close, they maintained a very normal friendly distance between them.

She is certainly better at separating her public/private lives than FSF. I also get the feeling that YM is kind of "rebellious" and hates having other people tell her what to do. So if everyone is telling her she is perfect with FSF and should be with him, instead of admitting it she will do the opposite and stop being affectionate to "spite" all these meddling people! This is contrary to many celebrities who are careful to maintain a good public image--YM doesn't seem to care as much. e.g. when fans got really mad at her after she posted that her and FSF were just friends, she pretty much ignored FSF on her weibo for awhile even though fans kept badgering her to thank him for his vehement words of support. (Meanwhile she did thank YZ for his post of support, even though it was much milder than FSF's.) Similarly, recently FSF and his cast/crew on his new movie were stranded in the midde of nowhere due to severe storms and flooding, losing all contact. While many people and friends posted about this on their weibo's, YM was completely silent on the matter (only after FSF was rescued out of there, and posted about helping the rest of his crew, did YM show support for it). Again, despite the fact that fans kept telling her to post words of support for FSF and some people once again started saying she was being cruel/a terrible friend for ignoring his predicament. Even though going along with their wishes would probably boost her image and popularity, YM simply refuses to do so.

This is a girl who has used her weibo to support various causes and friends (eg I think she once reposted merely for a friend's friend who lost a cat--much less serious than FSF's plight). If FSF was a mere friend or even a casual aquaintance, YM would probably post about it. The fact that she often "ignores" him in these critical times is very suspicious to me. Either there is something more going on (she gives me a "此地无银三百两" vibe) or she doesn't want fans/media to keep spreading gossip/speculation on that matter--I'm thinking it's both! (And sorry, I'm totally doing what YM probably hates by posting so much speculation too...but I can't help it! XD Hey, at least I'm doing it in English so she probably won't be affected by it!)

*In a similar vein to the last FSF post I mentioned: I only read about this in an article, did not watch the actual video yet, but apparently, during a press conference for "MingYun", the actor that plays YM's father in the show kept joking that he has printouts of YM's sexy photoshoots plastered all over his walls in his room and he is a big fan of his lovely "daughter" (lol). YM got embarrassed and turned frosty. The actor didn't seem to notice and was about to keep joking on about this but FSF stepped over and shut him up. (Not sure if the article exaggerated any part of this as some media are wont to do, if anyone has a video please post!)

My comments regarding the Ming Yun's press conference:

I've only seen this part captured in a fan recorded video so the quality isn't great. The article you read probably exaggerated FSF's reaction. He only stepped out of his position on stage and used both his hands to pat on father's shoulders. I think FSF just wanted to stop the father from speaking so inappropriately since his comments were embarrassing YM. If you understand FSF's real character, he's usually the quiet listener and subtle person in public. So his action was sorta surprising for some people. When the father mentioned the magazine name (Nan Ren Zhuang or Men's Fashion) which published YM's sexy photos, you can slightly tell FSF got tensed. His countenance turned a little awkward ...

FSF and WenQing mutually added each other on weibo, even though she's not in showbiz. It only means that FSF knows her in real life.

Backstage interview on Super Access

From their interviews and weibos, I can tell YM seems to have a heavy influence on FSF. YM loves to read almost about anything she feels she doesn't know much about. Her great love for reading gave her this habit to recommend her favorite books to her staff and good friends, which include FSF. The funny thing is YM would lend her own copy of the books with all her personal notes/markings to FSF, monitors his reading progress by asking him to take his own notes and then check on him to make sure he actually read those books. LOL...

YM describes FSF as the type of guy who overthinks, likes to take care of others around him, and also concerns himself too much about what other people’s opinions. His over-caring nature burdens him, according to YM, because he places too much pressure on himself to care for everyone and consequently stresses himself out. In contrast, YM's character is extremely independent, bluntly honest, somewhat careless, and very outspoken, and she would rather say the hurtful truth than sugarcoat her words. Her straightforwardness can inadvertently offend a lot people in entertainment industry. She made many enemies with her blunt; they probably didn't easily forgive her for it. As she’s gotten older, YM admits she now constrains her speech and not unwittingly offends people. FSF is the exact opposite. He may not be a sycophant, but all who met him, ranging from big names in showbiz to random bystanders, commend FSF for his good manners. He is more of a quiet listener/observer than an open speaker like YM, and would keep to himself even if he feels offended.

In the Super Access Interview (ZhaoJi FangWen), the hosts say that YM exhibits the classic traits of a Beijing girl (brutally honest, outspoken, split insults to people they're close to as a form of endearment), and FSF is the classic Shanghaiese guy (soft spoken, mild manner, considerate). Despite FengMi's very contrasting personalities, their respective traits really complement each other. FSF said in an interview that YM is really good at helping him to 'de-stress' when he feels too much pressure because of her 'happy-go-lucky attitude' and optimistic outlook on life. FSF, on the other hand, tries to soften YM's blunt honesty. FSF is very meticulous in what he does and YM is often careless in her actions. So FSF said he often helps YM think things over on her behalf.

As of this moment, both denied their dating rumors, saying they are just extremely good friends and treat each other like family members. I definitely hold more of a conservative view about FengMi relationship. I do believe FengMi are telling the truth when they said they are best friends/great co-workers. They are too busy with their current monstrous workload to maintain a stable relationship. Whatever is the true nature of their relationship, friends or lovers, I’m still quite touched by their closeness offscreen.

This part was actually cut from the Super Access Interview episode that got aired. FSF really likes to eat strong-flavored food, especially spicy food, while YM can't eat spicy food and is more like an herbivore. When the host asked FSF what YM can't eat, and he replied "She can't eat spicy food...and she's a vegetarian." Then the host asked YM what FSF likes to eat, but she replied "What I eat, he eats." When YM said that, I felt she definitely made them sound so much like a family! (watch video clip here, scroll to minute 0:58)

Anyway, I'm pretty sure YM knows what FSF likes to eat. I mean they often dined together during Gong shooting. In the blowing candle session of Happy Camp (a popular variety show), I think YM said she wants to give him grapes as New Year's present while FSF wants to give her a toilet (FSF said she just finished renovating her house). Later on, I found out FSF's favorite fruits included grapes and strawberries after reading an interview about his temporary assistant.

I love watching YM interviews in general though, like the hosts pointed out she is always so honest and genuine, she isn't reserved at all or constantly worried about saying the right things. FSF's personality is like the polar opposite of YM but in a good way! I had to laugh at how their "strengths/weakness" paralleled one another's! Hilarious how FSF was like "yeah things were fine..." and then YM goes, "actually no, we didn't get along at all." Lol. And the story of their first meeting...rofl.

Beijing Date: A Publicity Ploy?

Facts:

FengMi's Beijing dining photos were released by Sina on February 12, 2011.

During the broadcast of Gong, FSF spent most of his time in HengDian filming the Emperor's Harem with Ady An while YM stayed in Beijing to shoot Beijing Love Story with Li Chen and Chen SiCheng.

According FSF's weibo and also confirmed by his agent, he flew back to Beijing on February 9 and stayed for maybe 2 or 3 days before returning to HengDian Studios. I think the purpose of this Beijing trip was to do a Valentine's Day photoshoot with YM. The paparazzi photos were most likely taken around this time.
Gong began airing on January 31 and finished on February 20.

Publicity Ploy Argument:
YES

HunanTV and Yu Zheng are known to use similar tactics to promote their dramas
FengMi dined at a table next to a street window which allowed easy access for paparazzi to snap photos of them. Would celebrities who value their privacy be that negligent and openly dine like that?
They just seem to know they were being stalked and photographed. The quality and angle of paparazzi photos were too good to be secretly taken.
Both YM and FSF's staff seem "too close" with each other. Maybe their staff teamed up to fuel the romantic rumors and garner support/good public image for their roles in Gong and future collaborations. Peter Ho and Barbie Hsu acted very similar to FengMi off screen when they went to promote their drama Summer's Desire. Look at what happened to them now, Barbie Hsu is now married to another guy and Peter Ho is off doing his own thing.
A large majority of showbiz "insiders" sees the FengMi romance as a publicity stunt and argues FengMi are too openly affectionate with each other to indicate they are a "real couple." Most celebrity couples are low-key and try to hide their romance as much as possible.

The paparazzi photos were released when HunanTV already broadcasted more than half of the Gong episodes. If FengMi wanted to gain publicity for Gong, why would they wait to stage a publicity ploy so late into the broadcast and not earlier like right before the release?
FengMi, at that point, were already popular. No need to go through all that trouble to gain more attention.
Too early or no need for FengMi to garner attention for their later collaborations. Legend of the Military Seal was still in post production with no hint of being released yet. FSF has not signed on to star in Ming Yun either.
I doubt FengMi were truly aware of their newfound fame in early February. So they probably just ate at a table assigned to them by the server without much consideration. I've seen a lot of paparazzi photos of celebrities dining next to the street windows too. Not a big deal.
It's so not in FengMi's character to stage the publicity ploy. Both are well-known workholics in showbiz and worked their way up from nothing to gain recognition. FSF seemed particularly offended by the media allegation that he was only playing around with his acting career because he came from a rich family and eventually would have to quit to take over his famiy business. For FSF, these rumors pretty much belittled all the years of hard work he put in his acting career. Why would he wait more than 10 years to stage a publicity ploy with YM to get fame? Why didn't he stage a ploy when he was working with Ady An and Huo Si Yan to get famous? Both of these actresses were equally as famous or arguably even more famous than YM before CP3/Gong.

Here are some comparison statistics someone put together:

YM - 12 movies + 30 TV series = 42 projects
FSF - 11 movies + 50 TV series = 61 projects
Hu Ge - in 5 movies + 15 TV series = 20 projects
Liu Yi Fei - 8 movies + 5 TV series = 13 projects

These statistics are pretty debatable since each tv drama varies in the number of episodes and importance of actor/actress' roles in the projects are hard to measure. Regardless, you still get a general picture.

Conclusion:

There is really too much speculation surrounding FengMi, including positive and negative press. Even regarding FengMi's off screen interactions on a film set, I've been reading conflicting observations. During the shooting of Symphony of Fate in Hangzhou, some onlookers/extras did not see much interactions between FengMi off screen. They both sat far from each other in the resting area and ignored each other while busying themselves with their own things. Some bystanders/extras, in stark contrast, reported that they saw FengMi played games together on their ipads and chatted/joked with each other happily in between their filming breaks. One bystander even observed FSF went to move his directors chair closer to YM when they were sitting too far apart.

In the entertainment industry, it is not uncommon for a good onscreen couple to act lovey-dovey off screen just to tease their fans or at the behest of their management companies to boast their public image. When the camera is rolling, everything becomes an "act." The entertainment industry is a shady place where people are often forced to do things against their principles. Based on my personal understanding of FengMi and their actions over the years before their rise to stardom, it's hard for me to fathom they are attention mongers. It's also certainly possible all the "cumulative evidence" we have to support FengMi romance, in fact, is only our own deliberate misinterpretation. I don't think we will ever know the true nature of their relationship until one day they both publicly declare they have an official boyfriend/girlfriend. But as for now, we can make ourselves happy by choosing to believe in what we want to believe in.

I've wondered this too. Although, this seems to be the one and only time they got caught on a "date" together by the papparazzi, and it happened while Gong was still being broadcast (i.e. they had just started to become so famous), so perhaps they didn't think they needed to be so careful. YM has said before that there was a big change after she got popular in Gong--before she could still go shopping in the streets etc more-or-less anonymously, but now she will get recognized everywhere she goes. FSF was even less famous than YM before Gong. Actually my speculation is this was indeed a "just friends" type of date since it was quite early on (but I personally think they progressed to a relationship shortly after). So maybe they did know they were stalked by the papparazzi, but didn't think it'd be a big deal anyways.

I'm actually surprised there are not more papparazzi pics of them out there! From what they've said it sounds like they used to go have dinner together and ride in each other's cars a lot (but most of this probably took place during Gong and HFCQ filming, when they could still go about their lives in obscurity). So perhaps they did start being more careful after these photos leaked, since we haven't seen anything else since.

YM's Initial Bad Impression of FSF

Despite their sizzling onscreen chemistry in Gong, FSF and YM admitted they didn't click at all during the early days of Gong shooting. YM said FSF left a bad impression on her after their telemovie collaboration in 2004. They only worked together for about 10 days and FSF already suggested they add a kiss to their farewell scene to leave a "deepen impression" for viewers. YM, being only 17 at the time, felt the kiss was unnecessary and was repulsed by FSF's suggestion.

In showbiz, YM is also famously known as "Yu Jie" (御姐）literally meaning "the imperial big sister" because she often acts very cold/reserved toward people she doesn't know well, and gets highly self-defensive. Once you're close to her, she pours out her heart and soul to you. So, YM completely gave FSF the cold shoulder when they first started to shoot Gong together. To make matters worse, they both had a very different interpretation of the Gong characters. FSF felt he totally have no chemistry with YM. She felt the same but didn't feel comfortable enough with FSF to talk about their disagreement. Let's just say that YM acted so cold to FSF that even his assistant couldn't take it anymore and refused to bring the snacks that FSF wanted to give to YM. The situation aggravated to the point where FSF couldn't sleep well at night because he just couldn't immerse into the 8th Prince character and generate the necessary onscreen chemistry with YM. One night after shooting, FSF went to YM's hotel room to have a talk with her and resolve their differences. FSF said they talked for 2 hours and YM openly bashed his melodramatic acting...LOL.

After their long talk, they felt both more comfortable communicating with each other about any problems/issues. FSF got a better good grasp of the 8th Prince character. FengMi gained rapport, and finally the much needed onscreen chemistry we saw between 8th Prince and QingChuan in Gong. Yu Zheng also said that after FSF and YM's long talk, FSF asked if they could re-shoot all his scenes, which they did. Later on, FengMi clicked so well that many adorable scenes in Gong were actually ad libs (i.e. that imperial garden scene where 8th Prince was released from prison and he went to see QingChuan and grabbed her hands to put on his cheeks was an impromptu gesture that FSF did on the spot and not written in the script. YM reacted to this ad lib by pinching his cheeks. The second kiss in the imperial kitchen was also an ad lib by FSF...LOL...YM was caught off guard by his 2nd kiss.)

Toward the end of October 2010 when YM's management company, Mei Ah Media Group, planned on producing a new historical drama about the Warring States, YM recommended FSF for the male leading role. YM felt she has a lot of rapport with FSF after Gong and thought he would be a good choice to play Lord Xin Ling in Legend of the Military Seal. As for FSF, he was very grateful of YM's recommendation and the opportunity to work with a very renown drama director in China.

But if that is indeed the scene (seems like it), what was FSF thinking?! How did he expect to add a kiss scene through those huge prison bars, rofl. At least it happened right at the end of filming so he didn't have to suffer through YM's cold shoulder treatment until 7 years later.
