According to Xuan Kong Feng Shui, the monthly flying stars of Yin metal Goat month are exactly the same as our Yin earth Ox year’s annual stars. To be precise, it will run from July 7 through August 6, 2009. This indicates that the energies are doubled, both positively and negatively. Of course, the forces of these energies depend largely on the external landforms surrounding your residence and your house natal charts.

Here are two examples of the stars which would need your attention:

North with monthly 5 and annual 5 – Keep this sector as quiet and peaceful as possible. If this is a play room for your kids or if you have an active water feature, do not allow your kids to play here and you should not have an active water feature here in the first place because of annual 5. As a matter of fact, if this sector is activated (movements, activities, or moving water), accidents or misfortune will follow within a few days.

West with monthly 2 and annual 2 – As you probably know, this is commonly known as sickness star. It is a catalyst for any kind of diseases, especially if there is indications in your Heaven Luck (bazi or 4P chart). Should you have a slightest pain or discomfort, don’t hesitate to see your doctor immediately. On the positive side, 2 earth produces mineral and plants/trees grow on it… if it is supported by a hill or a neighbor’s house, you may be richer in your real estate ventures.

Although monthly 8 and annual 8 are located in the Southeast sector, this does not necessary mean significant money gain. There is just too much earth which may bury the potentials. Why do we incorporate water features in our gardens or parks? What significant benefits do they portray? First and foremost, water brings our gardens or parks to life; and activates the qi (our life force). It also beautifies our gardens/parks and attracts birds, butterflies, bees and other living beings. It soothes our nerves and we feel relax and calm. As you probably know, Feng shui in Chinese is wind (feng) and water (shui), water also symbolizes wealth for many Chinese and Asian communities. The ancient Chinese said "Qi rides the wind and is retained by water". Fengshui-wise, water can help retain the qi, hence our wealth. Ponds that empty into each other are most auspicious because they allow qi (wealth) to circulate and accumulate.

However, please make sure that the water is kept very clean at all times; do not allow the water to stagnate nor the pond to collect leaves in the fall. This would cause stagnation of our own energy and might lead to severe financial problems.

More food for thought…

Another way to obtain a well-balanced good feng shui garden is to design and create five distinct flower beds, each displaying the characteristics and shapes of the Five Elements. For example: a pergola with climbing evergreen ivy to represent wood element; a circular flower bed with lovely scented white roses representing metal element; a rectangular flower bed with daffodils and yellow tulips to represent earth element; a pyramid shape of red climbing clematis for fire element; and lastly a small pond with water lilies and lotuses to represent water element. No doubt, these examples are not unique, they can be modified to suit your personal taste and need provided you adhere to the Five Elements principles.

Needless to say, we can introduce shapes and colors in our garden as well; they can be integrated easily when choosing trees, shrubs, or plants for indoor or outdoor garden.

Here are some tips for your gardening :

In general, we recommend more round-shaped leaves than sharp pointed leaves to ensure a good and smooth flow of energy. Climbing roses with thorns along a wall or fence are considered good to discourage the intruders. Old trees should never be removed or chopped down because they have very powerful energy of their own. (Our residence was a forest land, we have a 150 year-old pine tree standing in a corner at the back of our house and I greet my old pine daily ). Remember not to plant a tree or build a flowerbed in front of your front door as it will block the good qi from entering your house. Especially a tall tree… it is known as “heart-piercing sha” which is most unfortunate and will hurt the occupants of the house. Also avoid trees growing too large that over-shadow your front entrance. A wide and bright area in front of the house is most auspicious.

Ideally, we should try to incorporate the five elements into our garden, like for example:

A pond or pool of water for water

A bronze statue for metal

Trees and shrubs for wood

Red and orange colors for fire

The soil for earth

Any other items such as garden tools, compost, dustbins, should be hidden or covered by beautiful climbers. If not feasible, you can grow shrubs in front of them in order to protect and safeguard the beauty and good feng shui of the garden.

If you only have a window box or a tiny corner to display your greenery, you can always use a curved window box to represent water, and a round potted plant to replace the bronze statue.

A word of advice: please always make sure that it is tidy, healthy and full of life and color, dead plants should be removed immediately to maintain the good feng shui in your garden.

I’m sure you have seen or heard of the beautiful Chinese Gardens or Japanese Zen Gardens. The architecture and landscaping are now the integral parts of all the well-known parks in the world, naming just a couple such as Central Park in New York, Hyde Park in London.

Rocks, water, life (fish, turtles, ducks, birds, butterflies, etc.), plants, and architecture (bridges, pavilions, statues, benches, etc.) are the essential elements integrated in a park. In addition, like when we apply Feng Shui in a house, it would be perfect to also introduce the Five Elements concept in a garden to augment and harmonize the qi flow.

Whether you have a small front garden, or a large backyard, or just a few potted plants in a corner outside your home, or on your balcony, it is the way we keep in touch with the nature.

REMOVING GALLSTONES NATURALLY

Your reward is when someone, through your word of mouth, benefits from the regime. Gallstones may not be everyone’s concern. But they should be because we all have them. Moreover, gallstones may lead to cancer. ‘Cancer is never the first illness,’ Chiu Nan points out. ‘Usually, there are a lot of other problems leading to cancer.

In my research in China, I came across some materials which say that people with cancer usually have stones. We all have gallstones. It’s a matter of big or small, many or few.

One of the symptoms of gallstones is a feeling of bloatedness after a heavy meal. You feel like you can’t digest the food. If it gets more serious, you feel pain in the liver area.’ So if you think you have gallstones, Chiu Nan offers the following method to remove them naturally.

The treatment is also good for those with a weak liver, because the liver and gallbladder are closely linked.

Regimen:
1. For the first five days, take four glasses of apple juice every day. Or eat four or five apples, whichever you prefer. Apple juice softens the gallstones. During the five days, eat normally.
2. On the sixth day, take no dinner.
3. At 6 PM, take a teaspoon of Epsom salt (magnesium sulphate) with a glass of warm water.
4. At 8 PM, repeat the same. Magnesium sulphate opens the gallbladder ducts.
5. At 10 PM, take half cup olive oil (or sesame oil) with half cup fresh lemon juice. Mix it well and drink it. The oil lubricates the stones to ease their passage.
PS. 1cup=250ml, ½ cup lemon juice=3 lemons (aprox.)

The next morning, you will find green stones in your stools. ‘Usually they float,’ Chiu Nan notes. ‘You might want to count them. I have had people who passes 40, 50 or up to 100 stones. Very many..’

‘Even if you don’t have any symptoms of gallstones, you still might have some. It’s always good to give your gall bladder a clean-up now and then.

Talking about Ji Chou Earth year… one of my good internet friends recently had severe gastric pains and was taken to hospital. After an ultrasound scan, it was confirmed that she has a large stone in her gall bladder.

That being said, I’d like to go a step further to demonstrate the connection between gallstone and the 5 Elements concept. As a matter of fact, be it in Feng Shui, Chinese Astrology, Traditional Chinese Medicines, Chinese cooking, nuitrition, or even Chinese martial arts such as Tai Chi Quan, or Qigong… they are all closely knitted to the 5 Elements concept.

In the 5 Elements concept, earth is solid and compact. Stones, mountains, crystals are a few examples representing Earth Element. In our body, the stomach, spleen and pancreas represent the Earth Element. So the abundant earth this year plus the abundant earth in the month of April (we have yang earth sitting on Dragon, which again belongs to earth element) are upsetting her body balance. In the 5 Elements controlling cycle theory, wood controls earth. In her case, because of the abundance of earth, wood can no longer control the earth… resulting in gallstone (earth element) appearing in her gall bladder (wood element).

In general, an overabundance of any element would lead to health problems in the respective organs represented by the 5 Elements.

To put your mind at ease, she opted to remove the gallstone naturally, and I’m glad to say that she’s up and about again! I will post the article on how to remove gallstone naturally in my next blog. Stay tuned!

How is Ji Chou Year treating you thus far?

This Ji Chou (yin earth sitting on Ox) year began on Feb. 4, 2009 and will go on until Feb. 4, 2010. It’s a year which brings strong earth to our lives because Ox is of earth element as well. It can be interpreted as rich garden soil bringing forth the birth of new ideas, careers and industries to support our environment and economy. It could be a year of hard work because it takes a lot of effort for a seed to germinate and break through the soil. This also implies that things will not happen quickly. It could be a year to establish new rules for governing and righting the wrongs, especially true for our global financial crisis. For those facing unemployment problem, it would be a year to consider a change for a new career. Etc. etc.

So with yin earth sitting on Ox (which is yin earth as mentioned above), it gives us a year of double earth. In general, a double element year brings double dose of good or bad effects depending on your Bazi (destiny) chart and the strength of your Day Master.

It could mean that people would probably face some challenges brought by an abundance of Earth. Since Earth element can represent different aspects (colleagues, siblings, friends, performance, wealth, career, support, health, husband, wife, etc.) of our life according to our Day Masters, understanding what lies ahead of you could help reduce stress and more importantly, help you adapt to the new challenges.

Ox is a slow but hard working and meticulous animal, earth is solid and motionless, so this could make a lot of people feeling things are inflexible, stuck, and that they are unable to act according to their wishes. It can also be liken to a landslide burying the villages and uprooting the trees, can be rather frustrating! But please do not jump to conclusion, remember that your Bazi chart and the strength of your Day Masters play an important role in your life and destiny.

Water element represents wisdom and communication, since earth is controlling water or like a dam holding back the water, we may experience problems in communication. Water element also represents wealth for Earth people, you may find yourself controlling your money more than ever before. Or on the down side, you may find yourself completely out of control of your money

Hi there,

I hope you’re all well. I apologize for my absence and thank you for your patience and continued support.

Just returned from a wonderful cruise in the Mediterranean Sea loaded with ruins and history… I enjoyed re-visiting Athens, Rhodes and Katakolon (the birth place of Olympic Games); love the city of Alexandria… very inviting and pleasant. As I have visited Ephesus some years back, I chose to visit Pergamo near Izmir this time, a great place. The cruise ended in Rome, yet another "must see" city for its Forum, Colosseum, St Peter’s Cathedral, the famous Trevi Fountain, Vatican City, the Sistine Chapel, and many more sites to visit.
