At campaign stops, she laughs at her own jokes and regales the audience with tales of herself as a little girl who stared into the sky with binoculars hoping to catch a glimpse of Sputnik as it passed by.

“Give me a fair reading as to who I am, not who somebody says I am,” Clinton pleaded with a room full of Iowa voters as she wrapped up her remarks at a campaign stop here on Sunday

But just moments later, in a rare stumble for her highly-choreographed campaign, Clinton demonstrated that people’s long-standing impressions of her are right on target.
Read The Entire Story Here At The Reagan Exchange

"Chesty" Puller was a colorful veteran of the Korean War, four World War II campaigns, and expeditionary service in China, Nicaragua, and Haiti. He is one of only two Marines to win the Navy Cross five times for heroism and gallantry in combat earing him the distinction of being the most decorated Marine in the history of the USMC.

A Marine officer and enlisted man for 37 years, General Puller served at sea or overseas for all but ten of those years, including a hitch as commander of the "Horse Marines" in China. Excluding medals from foreign governments, he won a total of 14 personal decorations in combat, plus a long list of campaign medals, unit citation ribbons and other awards. In addition to the Navy Crosses, the highest honor the Navy can bestow, he holds its Army equivalent, the Distinguished Service Cross. A list of his awards can be found here.

Born 26 June 1898, at West Point, Virginia, the general attended Virginia Military Institute until enlisting in the Marine Corps in August 1918. He was appointed a Marine Reserve second lieutenant 16 June 1919, but due to force reductions after World War I, was placed on inactive duty ten days later. He rejoined the Marines as an enlisted man to serve with the Gendarmerie d'Haiti, a military force in that country under a treaty with the United States. Most of its officers were U. S. Marines, while its enlisted personnel were Haitians.

After almost five years in Haiti, where he saw frequent action against the Caco rebels, Puller returned in March 1924 to the United States. He was commissioned a Marine second lieutenant that same month, and during the next two years, served at the Marine Barracks, Norfolk, Virginia, completed the Basic School at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and served with the 10th Marine Regiment at Quantico, Virginia.

In July of 1926, Puller embarked for a two-year tour of duty at the Marine Barracks, Pearl Harbor. Returning in June 1928, he served in San Diego, California, until he joined the Nicaraguan National Guard Detachment that December. After winning his first Navy Cross in Nicaragua, he returned to the United States in July 1931 to enter the Company Officers Course at the Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, Georgia. He completed the course in June 1932 and returned to Nicaragua the following month to begin the tour of duty that brought him a second Navy Cross.

In January 1933, Puller left Nicaragua for the United States. A month later he sailed from San Francisco to join the Marine Detachment of the American Legation at Peiping, China. There, in addition to other duties, he commanded the famed "Horse Marines." Without coming back to the United States, he began a tour of sea duty in USS AUGUSTA of the Asiatic Fleet. In June 1936 he returned to the United States to become an instructor in the Basic School at Philadelphia. He left there in May 1939 to serve another year as commander of the AUGUSTA's Marine Detachment, and from that cruiser, joined the 4th Marine Regiment at Shanghai, China, in May 1940.

After serving as a battalion executive and commanding officer with the 4th Marines, Puller sailed for the United States in August 1941. In September, he took command of the 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division, at Camp Lejeune. That Regiment was detached from the 1st Division in March 1942 and the following month, as part of the 3rd Marine Brigade, sailed for the Pacific theater. The 7th Regiment rejoined the 1st Marine Division in September 1942, and Puller, still commanding its 1st Battalion, went on to win his third Navy Cross at Guadalcanal.

The action that brought him that medal occurred on the night of October 24-25 1942. For a desperate three hours his battalion, stretched over a mile-long front, was the only defense between vital Henderson Airfield and a regiment of seasoned Japanese troops. In pouring jungle rain the Japanese smashed repeatedly at his thin line, as General Puller moved up and down its length to encourage his men and direct the defense. After reinforcements arrived, he commanded the augmented force until late the next afternoon. The defending Marines suffered less than 70 casualties in the engagement while 1400 of the enemy were killed and 17 truckloads of Japanese equipment were recovered by the Americans.

After Guadalcanal, Puller became executive officer of the 7th Marines. He was fighting in that capacity when he won his fourth Navy Cross at Cape Gloucester in January 1944. There, when the commanders of the two battalions were wounded, he took over their units and moved through heavy machine-gun and mortar fire to reorganize them for attack, then led them in taking a strongly fortified enemy position.

In February 1944, Puller took command of the 1st Marines at Cape Gloucester. After leading that regiment for the remainder of the campaign, he sailed with it for the Russell Islands in April 1944. He went on to command it at Peleliu in September and October 1944. He returned to the United States in November 1944, named executive officer of the Infantry Training Regiment at Camp Lejeune in January 1945, and took command of that regiment the next month.

In August 1946, Puller became Director of the 8th Marine Corps Reserve District, with headquarters at New Orleans, Louisiana. After that assignment, he commanded the Marine Barracks at Pearl Harbor until August 1950, when he arrived at Camp Pendleton, California, to re-establish and take command of the 1st Marines, the same regiment he had led at Cape Gloucester and Peleliu.

Landing with the 1st Marines at Inchon, Korea, in September 1950, he continued to head that regiment until January 1951, when he was promoted to brigadier general and named Assistant Commander of the 1st Marine Division. That May he returned to Camp Pendleton to command the newly reactivated 3rd Marine Division in January 1952. After that, he was assistant at division commander until he took over the Troop Training Unit, Pacific, at Coronado, California, that June. He was promoted to major general in September 1953, and in July 1954, assumed command of the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune. Despite his illness, he retained that command until February 1955, when he was appointed Deputy Camp Commander. He served in that capacity until August, when he entered the U. S. Naval Hospital at Camp Lejeune prior to retirement.

In 1966, General Puller requested to return to active duty to serve in Vietnam, but was turned down because of his age. He died 11 October 1971 in Hampton, Virginia, after a long illness. He was 73.

These brave men and women sacrifice so much in their lives so that others may enjoy the freedoms we get to enjoy everyday. Our new blog will allow us to make use of all the feature rich content that we could not use on our old site.

Conservatism is the foundation of our blog and we have partnered with a small group of individuals and educators, in order to setup a Moodle School for Conservative Studies. Because this project will be funded 100% by me, it might be a while before the free classes are ready to go but we will keep you posted on our site and will announce the grand opening date.

We are just getting all of the software dialed in and are still tweaking it (and exploring with it) so please be patient with us while we work the bugs out and post content.

The new site will be powered by Joomla and be connected to a WordPress blog, a forum and other sites and features. We will have guest Authors, and we welcome any comments and helpful criticism that you can send our way.

We have broken all ties with The Compass Blog and will no longer be promoting it within our pages or sites. We will keep the Feralpundit Blogspot blog here, for now, however we will not be updating it, as we will be working and updating our new site.

Thank You to all of our past and current readers and we hope that you will make the move with us to our new home.....there's plenty of room for you.

Of course not. It's the Statue of Liberty.

But a group called Summum is suing - demanding that the city of Pleasant Grove, Utah, erect Summum's ''Seven Aphorisms,'' which it claims represent ''higher'' knowledge, next to a Ten Commandments monument already on display.

The result if they win? Any government that displays a Ten Commandments monument or a patriotic memorial will be compelled to display a monument in opposition to the Ten Commandments or an anti-American monument.. Please read the rest of this article here

In ONE MONTH ALONE this mansion consumes more energy than the
average American household in an ENTIRE YEAR. The average bill for
electricity and natural gas runs over $2,400.00 per month. In natural
gas alone (which last time we checked was a fossil fuel), this property
consumes more than 20 times the national average for an American home.
This house is not in a northern or Midwestern "snow belt," either. It's
in the South.

HOUSE # 2:
Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university,
this house incorporates every "green" feature current home construction
can provide. The house contains only 4,000 square feet (4 bedrooms) and
is nestled on arid high prairie in the American southwest. A central
closet in the house holds geothermal heat pumps drawing ground water
through pipes sunk 300 feet into the ground. The water (usually 67
degrees F.) heats the house in winter and cools it in summer. The
system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas, and it consumes
25% of the electricity required for a conventional heating/cooling
system. Rainwater from the roof is collected and funneled into a 25,000
gallon underground cistern. Wastewater from showers, sinks and toilets
goes into underground purifying tanks and then into the cistern. The
collected water then irrigates the land surrounding the house. Flowers
and shrubs native to the are! a blend the property into the surrounding
rural landscape.

HOUSE # 1 (20 room energy guzzling mansion) is outside of
Nashville,Tennessee. It is the abode of that renowned environmentalist
(and filmmaker) Al Gore.

HOUSE # 2 (model eco-friendly house) is on a ranch near Crawford,
Texas. Also known as "the Texas White House," it is the private
residence of the President of the United States, George W. Bush...

John Gebhardt?. Maybe you have and maybe you haven't. CMSgt. Hebhardt gain some notoriety recently. Not for an action that he took on the battlefield, but rather for a picture(not shown because it is graphic) that was taken of him.

In 2006, CMSgt. John Gebhardt was photographed holding a little Iraqi girl that had been injured. Her family had been attacked by insurgents. Both of her parents were killed, along with many of her siblings, and she had been shot in the head and left for dead. But she was tougher than that. She was brought to Balad Air Base Hospital where she was operated on and ultimately saved. As you can imagine, it was an extremely hard time for this little girl. Her recovery was hellish. But when CMSgt. Gebhardt would hold her, she seemed to be comforted. He spent many nights sleeping in a chair with her in his arms. The picture wast taken by a fellow airman while CMSgt. Gebhardt and the little girl were napping. Said CMSgt. Gebhardt, "I'm sure that probably just gave her some inner peace that she could reach."

On a side note. This is why I started doing these Wednesday Hero posts. Because of people like Chief Master Sgt. John Gebhardt. It's soldiers like him that make me proud of our military.

These brave men and women sacrifice so much in their lives so that others may enjoy the freedoms we get to enjoy everyday. For that, I am proud to call them Hero.
We Should Not Only Mourn These Men And Women Who Died, We Should Also Thank God That Such People Lived

This post is part of the Wednesday Hero Blogroll. One opposing group claims that the teens at the event are being manipulated to believe in a literal and intolerant faith in Christianity.

Demon-strators were also seen facing off with hundreds of Christian teens over the BattleCry event outside the San Francisco's city hall.

Read this story and see the video at CBN News

Some were clerks, cooks, mechanics, machinists. Some served during war time, some served during peace time, some serve in peace today, ready for battle tomorrow. Today they prepare for the ongoing war against terrorists. Some gave their lives, some suffered wounds, some saw things that no human should ever have to see, and many did things that no human should ever have to do. And all gave their daily life, for a period of time, while many more gave their time to work in the industries that sustained our veterans.

Not all of those who have protected my freedom were even in the military. Some of them were the firemen, policemen, and paramedics who risked their lives each day, rushing in where most of us would never tread. Some are the doctors and nurses who treat the wounded, and go home and cry for them. Some of them were "just" passengers on commercial airline flights who, with faith in Christ, calmly chose to fight, and die if necessary, rather than let Flight 93 be used as a weapon against their country and their fellow citizens.

When I tried to join the US Air Force, my application was turned down for medical reasons.

Because others were, and will be there, I am privileged to continue to live in the greatest nation the world has ever known and to enjoy the greatest freedoms that any people have ever known.

The honor roll stretches forward to times, and places, and names we will never know...

And so I thank you, veteran, whoever you are, and wherever you are, whenever your service.

Thank you Vet. Thanks Dad. Today, I remember WHY I am free, and I thank you.

I know that when you were asked, at the right time, like Christ, you gave your life for me.

The result would leave anyone with an ounce of political savvy in a state of disbelief.

The poll concluded that forty seven percent of those polled think Hezbollah is friendly toward America. Leaving aside the generally accepted idea that our allies’ enemies are our enemies you’ve got to wonder if those polled have a clue.

Did the pollsters remind those polled that Hezbollah is solidly backed by Iran. And have those Americans forgotten the Ayatollah Khomeini or the Iranian hostage crisis? Have they forgotten that Iran is openly and defiantly bent on creating enriched uranium from its nuclear facilities to make nuclear bombs with? Have they forgotten all this or did they ever know it to begin with.

Did those polled forget that between 1983 and 1985 elements of the Hezbollah were responsible for the bomb that killed over two hundred U. S. Marines in Beirut? Weren’t they informed that the Hezbollah car bombed the U. S. Embassy and the embassy’s annex? Did the polled know that nearly every suicide bomber that claimed the lives of innocent women, children and tourists at the Israeli border were sanctioned and in some cases paid for by the Hezbollah? The real question seems to be were they informed of anything at all.

If those polled attended a class in the area of political science entitled, “political savvy 101” and were asked only one question to complete the course how many would pass? The question of course would be what country Iran would use its nuclear bomb on if it had one. They could be given multiple choice answers such as 1.America, 2.Israel, 3.duh. According to the CNN poll one hundred percent of those in that class would be taking the course over.

Has life in America become so fast paced that we have no time to pay attention to what is going on elsewhere or doesn’t a “Super Power” need to give any attention to these serious threats perceived only as isolated foreign skirmishes and uprisings? Is the pre 9/11 complacency returning with a vengeance? It is hard to hit the head of an ostrich from far away but his body makes a great target. One has to wonder if nature endowed the bird with just a pinch more wisdom would he keep his head above ground long enough to hear the gunfire so he could run for cover. Do those polled need just a pinch more wisdom?

Hezbollah is just as committed to the demise of the United States as it is to seeing the annihilation of Israel. If nothing else was known about the Hezbollah except that it is a militant Muslim movement how anyone could mistake them for a friend to the west is beyond all reason or human understanding. Are Americans so busy looking for reasons to celebrate the good times and scream out their heehaws that they can’t hear the ever deafening sound of those crying out for a jihad?

Will the business or the busyness of America make true the saying that the hardest thing for any individual, group or nation to survive is its own success? God forbid.

Rev Bresciani is a columnist for several online news sites. GOP traitors who have backed a "guest worker" immigration plan, abortion rights and tax increases.

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee has disappointed fiscal conservatives for signing tax hikes on gas and cigarettes when he was governor, while Kansas Senator Sam Brownback has been criticized for his support of an immigration reform bill conservatives claim would give "amnesty" to illegal immigrants.

Phyllis Schlafly, a longtime opponent of gay rights and the Equal Rights Amendment, who derided programs to provide bilingual drivers' tests and to provide low-wage jobs to immigrants instead of "our own high school dropouts," is a possibility, but not really.

What this country needs is a real conservative for President. A Conservative President who is good for all of America, who will stand up for its citizens. Someone who believes in National Security, Education, Patriotic Immigration, someone who will fight for American interests within the World Trade System, Social Security reform, Balance the Federal Budget, and bring God back in to Americas public life.

I believe that someone, is Newt Gingrich. Though Gingrich has not yet announced his run for president, The former speaker of the House, back in December of 2006, said that he will consider entering the race for the Republican presidential nomination only if no other potential candidate looks to be a prohibitive favorite by September 2007. Well Mr Gingrich....We need you!

Some points From Newt's Book, Winning the Future

* Since the Warren Court invoked the notion of "judicial supremacy," the Supreme Court has become a permanent constitutional convention in which the whims of five appointed lawyers have rewritten the meaning of the Constitution. This power grab by the Court is a dramatic break from previous American history, and has made it a tool of the ideological left.

* There is a new and growing pattern among the Left-liberal establishment to view foreign opinion and international organizations as more reliable and more legitimate than American institutions.

* There is significant precedent in American history for believing that the legislative and executive branches can force the judicial branch into changing its views when they are out of touch with the values of the vast majority of Americans.

* The American people have the power to send a message to the courts. They can instruct their legislative and executive branches to retaliate against activist Left judges who consistently ignore the Constitution, invoking the “good behavior” clause of the Constitution.

* Laws are being changed from an instrument of justice into an instrument of revenge and redistribution by personal injury lawyers. America needs more scientists, doctors, and entrepreneurs and fewer lawyers to make America a less litigious society.

In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh--more than 20 times the national average.

Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWh--guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of his energy consumption, Gore's average monthly electric bill topped $1,359.

Since the release of An Inconvenient Truth, Gore's energy consumption has increased from an average of 16,200 kWh per month in 2005, to 18,400 kWh per month in 2006.

Gore's extravagant energy use does not stop at his electric bill. Natural gas bills for Gore's mansion and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year.

"As the spokesman of choice for the global warming movement, Al Gore has to be willing to walk to walk, not just talk the talk, when it comes to home energy use," said Tennessee Center for Policy Research President Drew Johnson.

In total, Gore paid nearly $30,000 in combined electricity and natural gas bills for his Nashville estate in 2006."

Here is, Al Hypocrite Gore's, Carbon Footprint Calculator Link. TIMMERMAN

New York Post
THERE'S a new myth being pumped by the anti-Bush crowd, that somehow the president is once again "hyping" intelligence to make the case for war.

This time it's Iran and the allegedly hyped intelligence concerns Iran's involvement in Iraq, as well as the administration's interpretation of Iran's motives and intentions.

The anti-Bush crowd is concerned that Bush's new, hard-headed approach to Iranian terrorists operating in Iraq is actually beginning to show results, and it is desperate to sabotage any political benefit the president might derive from this success.

"If the administration believes that any, any use of force against Iran is necessary, the president must come to Congress to seek that authority," Sen. Hil- lary Rodham Clinton huffed on the floor of the U.S. Senate on Wednesday.

The president's Jan. 10 speech announcing his new Iraq policy was followed by immediate action on the ground. That night, American and Iraqi forces raided an Iranian intelligence headquarters in the northern city of Irbil, nabbing six Iranians, including three top Revolutionary Guards commanders.

These and other Iranians captured over the past 18 months have yielded detailed intelligence on Iran's penetration of Iraq and its supply of a new type of armor-piercing, improvised, explosive device to Iraqi insurgents.

U.S. military briefers in Baghdad showed journalists some of the Iranian weapons and other intelligence material on Feb. 11. They revealed that the expeditionary forces of Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps, known as the Quds force, "trains extremists and insurgents in terrorist tactics and guerilla warfare" and "supports terrorism by providing advice, training and weapons to insurgents and terrorist groups."

Within days, this information was challenged, with journalists pummeling the president at a news conference with allegations that all of this was somehow a "rogue operation" that bore no relationship to the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

That's like saying that the 1,854 U.S. Marines on board the USS Boxer, now cruising in the Persian Gulf, have somehow appeared out of nowhere without the knowledge or approval of the U.S. government.

The Quds force is an integral part of the Revolutionary Guards Corps, and reports through the chain of command to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Its mission is terrorism.

Quds force officers have been directly involved in the bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Beirut in 1983, the bombing of the AMIA Jewish Center in Buenos Aires in July 1994 and a host of other attacks.

The Quds force also trains foreign terrorists in Iran and manages a far-flung commercial network around the world, including front companies in Germany whose purpose is to acquire high technology for Iranian weapons programs and to launder money for terrorist operations.

The president was right to point the finger at the Quds force for the murder of 170 U.S. soldiers in Iraq and to order a crackdown. The results are already in: Renegade Iraqi Shiite militia leader Muqtada al-Sadr fled to Iran earlier this month, along with many of his top deputies.

Iranian sources tell me that Khamenei "panicked" at the new U.S. policy, which he referred to as mar-rouye domesh vastadeh - "the cobra standing on his tail."

By late January, a new, blue-ribbon security/intelligence committee recommended to Khamenei that Iran scale back its presence in Iraq. So Khamenei ordered some of the Quds forces officers to withdraw and sent a letter to al-Sadr "inviting" him to Iran.

Last week, I learned from Iranian sources that Khamenei has now ordered the Quds force to reduce its exposure in other parts of the Persian Gulf, in particular in Bahrain. Iran has thoroughly infiltrated Bahrain's majority Shiite population and has repeatedly sparked demonstrations against the presence of the U.S. Fifth Fleet.

The latest ploy by the anti-Bush crowd is the allegation that the White House ignored an Iranian offer in April 2003 to negotiate a "comprehensive settlement" with Iran. According to this fairy tale, the Iranians were willing to discuss their support for terrorist groups and their nuclear program and even recognize Israel but the Bush administration turned them down.

The story is being hyped by rogue weasel Flynt Leverett, a former National Security Council staffer who quit government in May 2003 to become an adviser to the presidential campaign of John Kerry. The Iranian official who allegedly made the proposal, Sadeq Kharrazi, was subsequently arrested for "unauthorized contacts" with the United States.

So much for an authoritative offer.

What's clear in both these stories is that the Tehran regime fears a tough U.S. policy. In Iraq and elsewhere in the Persian Gulf, it is already backing down under pressure. And when it comes to negotiations, we learn that the one thing the regime really wants is for the United States to cut off support for the pro-democracy movement and to provide security guarantees to the regime.

The conclusion is simple: Hang tough. It's working.

If passed, it would alter your pastors’ right to free speech and prevent them from speaking out on the critical issues we face as a nation. S.B. 1 and H.R. 4682 are aimed at regulating pastors and conservative groups by classifying them as “lobbyists” - which in turn would require them to register with the government. This law would be a direct restriction of free speech since this new definition of “lobbyist” would include public interest organizations, churches, and other non-profit groups who strive to influence public opinion - in any way. The ACLJ will not rest until we see these bills stopped in their tracks. Please read the form below carefully and declare your membership with the ACLJ by adding your name to our Petition of Protest
