The Trip Festival 2011 organisers have just announced on their Facebook page that this year’s festival is cancelled due to poor ticket sales. The news was announced just a week before the festival was due to commence.

At the time of writing, their website was still to be updated, but the news seems quite genuine.

This was their message:

THE TRIP FESTIVAL IS CANCELLED Sorry Trippers but due to poor ticket sales we have had to cancel the event. We deeply regret it will not take place this year and have worked really hard trying to make it happen. Big thank you to all involved and to all who have bought tickets. Tickets will be refunded via the ticketing service you bought from over the coming weeks.

Ex Destiny’s Child singer, actress and fashion designer, Beyoncé Knowles will be heading to Scotland this summer to headline the T In The Park Festival 2011.

She’s already been confirmed for Glastonbury on June 26th, but it’s just been announced that she’ll be joining Arctic Monkeys, Foo FIghters and Pulp for this year’s event in Balado Airfield on 9th July.

It won’t be her first visit to T In The Park. She attended last year’s festival to see her husband, Jay-Z, perform. This time though, she’ll be taking centre stage herself, no doubt to promote her new single, “Run The World” and her imminent album:

Sadly, tickets are completely sold out for T In The Park this year.

It’s been a while coming, but the list the fans have been waiting for was finally announced on Mike Davies’ The Punk Rock Show on Radio 1 last night: The Lock-Up Stage line-up for Reading Festival 2011 and Leeds Festival 2011.

A worthy collection of some of the leading acts in ska, punk and rock will be gracing the stage, the headline bands being The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Descendents, joined by The King Blues and Flogging Molly.

Lovers of the crime-busting rodent with a keen social and community conscience, Rastamouse, can now rejoice in the fact that he’ll be making an appearance at Glastonbury Festival 2011.

Popular with both children and adults alike, rainbow coloured hat-wearing Rastamouse will be accompanied by his band, ‘Da Easy Crew’ (consisting of him and his mouse colleagues, Scratchy and Zoomer) and will be performing in the Kidz Field.

A host of new acts has just been confirmed for Kendal Calling Festival 2011 to join the line-up which already features Echo & The Bunnymen, The Charlatans (acoustic), Chase & Status, The Cribs and Blondie at this year’s festival

A few surprises this year, with the announcement of Neneh Cherry being the first. Ex-Led Zeppelin frontman, Robert Plant will be making an appearance too with Robert Plant and The Band of Joy.

The decidedly un-chilled Chemical Brothers will be playing (and probably headlining) one of the nights. Talk at last year’s festival about The Big Chill getting heavier seems to be pretty much confirmed by this announcement.

There are still plenty of acts that are a familiar kind of sight though, highlights including: Reggae superhuman Horace Andy, Femi Kuti & the Positive Force and Craig Charles’ Funk & Soul Show.

Big Brother frontman, Dermot O’Leary will be joining the line-up at Latitude Festival 2011 ‘In The Woods’ stage with a special live version of his Radio 2 show where he’ll be playing favourite Indie songs from his youth.

Over at the Obelisk Arena will be singer / songwriter Ed Sheeran. He’s built a massive YouTube following with over 1 million views and is set to become a bit of a rising star.
