The ring was created by jeweller Robert Procop, who also worked with the actress on her own fashion line. Procop has said that Brad had wanted to be involved in every aspect of the ring, and particularly in choosing an ethical diamond… nothing less for a humanitarian super mom like Angelina!

The ring has been reported to be betwen 10 to 16 carats and estimated to be between $500,000 to $1 million. Brad is said to have proposed to his partner over Christmas but they have not stepped out with the ring as they were concerned engagement reports may overshadow her directorial debut earlier this year. Brad and Angelina made a famous statement that they would not get married before gay men and women had the equal right to marry. However, in recent months, Brad is said to have changed his statement and said that his children wanted him to marry their mother and that it would mean more for them. He is said to have said that the pressure from his children has meant he may have to break his vow. I read that his children insist on Brad and Angelina getting married just as “Shrek married Fiona.” Awww…

Jeweller to the stars Jacob & Co (who also produced Jay Z and Nick Cannon’s engagement rings for their lady loves) has a similar sparkler priced *slightly lower* at $338,000. Jacob & Co is said to have had the ring on sale prior to the the Brangelina announcement so I am sure the sales of that particular rock have rocketed in the mean time. The Jacob & Co ring features baguette diamonds surrounding an emerald cut stone.

Some brides have chosen to throw Easter themed weddings around a rabbit, chick, or egg theme. Spring colours – particularly pastel this year – in creams, yellows, pinks, blues, and greens make the wedding colours pop.

One of the brides has sweetly put easter eggs into the little bridesmaids baskets. So cute!

Environmental Innovations Private Limited that manufactures eco-friendly forks, knives, spoons and chopsticks in delicious flavours of vanilla, strawberry and pineapple. Check them out!

A range of edible spoons exists on the internet… including gluten free varieties…. clearly this means that someone else thinks they are a brilliant idea as well!

The edible cutlery trend has already been seen in giving wedding guests ice-cream cones filled with ice-cream or sweets.

Jessica Biel, hounded by recent engagement rumours, wore a white lace gown by Elie Saab. Interestingly, she chose not to wear the alleged engagement ring. Opinion was divided between a class verdict and a upright prudent look for her dress. She’s such a beautiful woman but I actually think she could have worn something even more fabulous? or perhaps she was trying to lay low after the publicity overdrive with her engagement rumours after New Years?

The ever gorgeous Kate Beckinsale stuck to her usual strapless fishtail gowns, wearing one designed by Roberto Cavali.

Charlene Theron stood out from the bridal crowd in a Christian Dior gown – although most people would agree her hemline was not that of a blushing bride!

The sparkly Elle Macpherson (who you would never guess is close to 50!) was true to her supermodel form. She looks full of life and like she’s having fun here (the smile does help!)

Angelina Jolie wore white in a departure from her signature black. She won much praise for her sleek Atelier Versace red and white gown. Theres something quite Brother’s Grimm-esque about this outfit – not sure if the red reminds me of Red Riding Hood?

and as if on cue… Gweneth Paltrow actually did wear a cape to her Tom Ford gown at the Academy Awards in February. Its amazing how toned and radiant she always looks.

Co-writer and star of the Bridesmaids movie Kirsten Wiig wore a nued coloured J Mendel gown. So gorgeous and can easily see her recycle this for a wedding (not that she needs to!)

And Octavia Spenser looked fabulous for a Tadashi Shoji dress that looked like it had found her rather than the other way around.

My favourite two looks were the hints of pink and blues – seen here on Sharle Woodley in light blue Marchesa and the stunning Jessica Alba in Gucci.

In Denmark, the penalty is 12 pairs of gloves. In Finland, the penalty is fabric for a skirt. In Greece, couples avoid the leap year day altogether as it is said to bring bad luck.
So if you’re one of those ladies waiting to get down on one knee rather than waiting for your man to get on one knee (media has suggested this is just the thing Angelina Jolie herself would do), then good luck…. and dont forget a nice watch (the equivalent of the engagement ring). and then you can debate who will buy your engagement ring!

* Pick a proposal scenario that will be meaningful to him rather than just to you. * Pick the right moment and be calm. Hopefully, you should have already discussed the topic of marriage and your future before the suprise proposal.

Here are a few ideas of how to incorporate a Valentines themed wedding:

1. Invites that look like Valentines Cards.

2. Favours that are heart-shaped/red/romantic… love this chic shopping bag (so useful!)

3. Heart shaped wedding cake or even this red M&M cake!

4. Romantic red/pink roses flower arrangements

5. Iced heart shaped cookies and a sweet treat (the new ‘desert table’)

I just realised that a Valentines wedding may be slightly more expensive due to the exorbitant cost of flowers that day. Case in point, my husband bought me a beautiful bonquet and said that the usual £2 roses were selling for £4.50! But then again, you could always make that capitalist argument that you save one presents in the long run because you combine Valentines Day and Anniversary… luckily, mine are exactly 6 months apart meaning twice as many presents.. mu hahahha (evil laugh!)

I mentioned to Linda that Thank You cards actually reflect you as a couple as much as the wedding. I once recieved cards which were of cheap quality, and the bride and groom had the text already printed up. They just inserted our names in their handwriting and signed theirs. The saddest thing is that the text was just one line ‘Thank you for coming to our wedding and for the present.’… which I think would have taken all of 15 seconds to write in their own handwriting. Well, I thought atleast this was better than a few friends who did not even send any wedding cards!

Wedding invitation makers realise the importance of Thank You cards and offer matching stationary. I love the way that it ties with the wedding theme.

Anyways, for those that do send wedding cards, please be assured that your guests actually do value and treasure them. One of the sweetest cards I received as from my friend Diane, whose wedding I attended in Lyon in the summer. She had written the card and also had her husband write something as well. I know almost all brides have to beg, bargain or threaten their husbands into writing the thank you cards – or end up writing them themselves since it saves energy. So Diana and Johan’s card was so refreshingly sweet. I also really appreciated that she referred specifically to the wedding presents we had bought (a range of Joseph Joseph designer cooking ware). It made me feel like she actually didnt just write the bland ‘Thank you for coming to our wedding, hope you enjoyed it as much as we did, and thank you for the gift.”Plus, they included a photo of them taken on the wedding day – what a sweet way to remember that day as well.

Third time lucky Britney Spears could not contain her excitement as she took to her Twitter account to announce her engagement to 12 million fans. She exclaimed “I can’t stop looking at it!!” after Jason, her long time boyfriend proposed at his 40th birthday party. Jason was previously her manager and had stepped down professionally due to their romantic link.

2. Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel

Formerly Britney Spear’s flame, Justin Timberlake is said to have finally proposed to on-off girlfriend Jessica Biel at a pre-christmas holiday in Wyoming. Local jeweller wrote its Facebook page: ‘Word on the street is that Justin Timberlake proposed to Jessica Biel at the Amangani last night. We’re picking out post-engagement presents for them just in case they come in! Trying to play it cool.” New York PR agent Kyle Schaffler wrote on his Twitter page: ‘I love that no media outlets know about the Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel engagement. Benefits of working in PR.” But still no denials or confirmations from the pair’s publicists….

3. Mathew McConoughey and Camila Alves

Another star who used Twitter to announce their engagement was Mathew McConoughey. He asked his long time girlfriend and mother of his two adorable children to marry him on Christmas Day. Camila is said to have said she is not in any hurry to walk down the aisle. Interestingly, I once read that Mathew resisted any committment to buying a home and lived in trailer cars until very recently…. there may be a link that he never wanted to be tied down?

4. Anne Hathaway & Adam Shulman

Anne Hathaway showed off her massive 6 carat rock of an engagement ring, designed by fiance (who is actually a jewellry designer – handy that!) and Kwiat Heritage Jewels. Anne is said to have met Adam soon after splitting from her boyfriend Raffaello Follieri who actually turned out to be a crook! I read somewhere that Anne said she didnt plan to fall in love and actually wanted to spend some time alone but she was caught off guard by how unassuming this relationship grew out of and how solidly in love she feels. Of all the weddings, I think Anne would make the most stunning bride because there is an elegance about her (but then again I’m biased because I loved Devil Wears Prada). Remember her in Bride Wars? She was already stunning in a wedding dress.

5. Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez

Halle Berry stepped out on 29 December 2011 with a suspiciously special looking ring on her left hand leading to speculation that boyfriend Olivier Martinez had proposed over the holiday season. Olivier’s ex, Kylie Minogue tweeted out congratulations to the pair after hearing the news. The striking emerald ring was even confirmed as the enagement ring by the designer of the ring but has since backtracked on this annoucement… which leaves us all confused with neither celebrities confirming or rejecting the news…. well if it is indeed an engagement, there will surely be another glamourous wedding in 2012.
