I have been thinking that I would like to come up with a "go to" list of meals to eat, so when I begin thinking about what meals my family might want to eat I'll have an idea to begin with. This will be a working list! Ideas are always appreciated!

I have decided to dust my blog off and begin a Keepin' Company Thursday blogpost! I really never got started good before I began bottle-feeding a couple of newborn heifers this past Spring. I guess I got sidetracked!

What is fibromyalgia?

Just what exactly is fibromyalgia? In my personal experience, fibromyalgia has turned out to be the diagnosis I have received after going to the doctor year after year for deep muscle pain, deep tissue pain, throbbing pains in my hips, shoulders, legs, lower back, feet, elbows, ankles, knees. Sometimes, the pain is a searing or burning and sometimes it is just a mild pain that is only surface deep. I hate tags in my clothing because they hurt my skin. I thought I must be allergic to the thread they used.
Along with the pain comes the fatigue, the brain “fog”, the weight gain, the sleep problems, constipation one day, diarrhea the next. On and on go the symptoms, the depression, the doctor appointments, the wondering, the waiting, the wanting to know just what your problem is!!
I wanted to know…what exactly is wrong with me?? Am I a hypochondriac or could all of this be connected somehow?? I went to the doctor with a list of my symptoms accompanying my depression. He told me we would need to work on a few of these at a time. Most importantly we needed to work on the depression, because, surely, if we took proper care of the depression, we could surely eliminate most of the other symptoms as well.

I Love Family Time!!

I absolutely LOVE when my family comes! My oldest daughter, Lynn, and her two children are here for a few days. They missed being here during the holidays as they had a trip to Las Vegas scheduled with my son-in-law's family. They had a good time and I try to be respectful of where they need to be and when. I know that it was hard trying to get everywhere scheduled when I was younger.

So my daughter went shopping and the kids are here with my husband and myself... on the farm. The oldest, a beautiful girl, Sisi, is out swinging on a rope hung from a tree. There used to be a old vine there until it broke last summer. My husband fixed the kids right up with the rope. They all really love to be out there swinging on it and I even caught my dog, Zeva, out there playing with the rope one day. She was pulling it back just like the kids do, but she just couldn't figure out how to jump up and stay on the way they do. She is really smart and really loves to play with the kids when they come. She is a 10 month old Australian Shepherd.

My youngest daughter, Ki, and her family live close by and visit often. They will be here this evening to hang out and to spend some time with Lynn and the kids. Lynn's husband, Dave didn't get to come this time. He had to stay home and work. I hate that cause we will all miss him very much! He is a very likeable guy and is usually the life of the party.

Tomorrow night, more of our family will come to see Lynn and the kids and to have a belated Christmas gift exchange. I'm cooking a ham and whatever else comes to mind between now and then. Macaroni and Cheese is usually a must when my youngest daughter walks in the door. She's not at all spoiled! Hahaha. Family! That's what it's all about!!

Good morning! It is Saturday and I have a pile of laundry to get done. It is snowing outside. What a nice Spring day... hahaha. Life in Oklahoma is never dull.

The painters are at my new house working (I hope!) Can they paint in this weather? They had said they would be done by today so - we'll see. I am really excited about moving into my new house. It is turning out to be so beautiful! My husband has really been giving me a hard time about how big the kitchen and utility room are in comparison to the rest of the house! He is kidding me, of course. However... they really are quite large. He has let me do just about whatever I want. He wanted a huge fireplace and windows across the east side of the house. The house sits up on a hill overlooking the fields where some of our cattle will soon be roaming. Anyway, it is turning out exactly as imagined!

Guess I better get on that laundry!! Have a great day!

I Have Grandkids Today!

Well, its Saturday and I have my two grandsons today. They are spending the night with me while Mom and Dad go on a belated Valentine Trip. Just an overnight, they can't get too far away.

The oldest GS is playing games on the computer while the youngest GS is just about to fall asleep while watching tv. If he gets still, his eyes go closed. I think his favorite place is the car. You barely get pulled out of the driveway and he is out like a light. He's not a baby either... he's six! I told him earlier that I have a picture of him laying in the middle of the kitchen table asleep. I'll have to post it when I find it.

Mom Needs Help!

I took my mother to the doctor this morning. She has been having severe pain in her lower back and hips. She has multiple fractures and compressions in her back and osteoporosis. The doctore suggested she have Home Health and also Physical Therapy. They are supposed to call within the next couple of days to get set up. I am somewhat happy to think that she is going to have someone to help her with bathing. That lets me off the hook and lets me get on with housebuilding, etc... I love my mother. She is one of my very best friends! I am, however, in the middle of trying to build a house and need to be close and at hand for that. While I was at Mom's today, I did a couple of loads of laundry and heated her up some soup for supper. I also drove to the dentist's office (about 25 miles or so away) and got my teeth cleaned.

Its a new year and I have found a new doctor. I live in a small town (2500 population) and have decided to use a local doctor. I went in last week for a "meet and greet" type of appointment. He doesn't know much about fibromyalgia but is willing to learn and ask questions. I have had a hard time with doctors in the past due to the fact I'm not just a patient in the relationship. This is MY BODY!!! I need a doctor who understands that and is willing to let me be my pilot. Thank goodness this doctor agrees.

I had taken my sister to him in the past and was really impressed by the way he treated her.

So here we are... another adventure!

Time For A New Doctor

Well, I got a letter yesterday in the mail from my Dr. He is retiring effective December 31, 2008. I have been going to this doctor for at least 10 years. He has been a great doctor. He was always very caring and always listened to what I had to say about whatever was wrong with me at the time.

I am very sad that now I have to begin a new relationship with a new doctor. That, for some reason, is not an easy adventure with me. I'm sure, now that I have fibromyalgia, that the endeavor is not going to be easy.
