Yesterday I received a book, titled 'Turning Hurt into Hope' from Nancy Dinar (pastor and christian counselor) from Indonesia who lives in South Korea as the Author if this book. It is the 4th book I got from my Cyber Friends from around the world I never met in person, after two books from Robert TS Nio from Netherlands, titled 'The Mang Ucup Code' and 'Gereja Duit vs Gereja Allah' (Money Church vs God Chuch) that I received in December 2006 and a book from Jennie S. Bev. from California (USA), titled 'Mindet Success: Menuju Kebebasan Finansial' that I received in June 2007. Either books from Robert and Jennie were as the gifts, which I had won in their contests.

In February 2009, Nancy ever asked me to review her manuscript and I accepted it gratefully as she gave a trust in me in reviewing it. Two months ago, in September 2009 it has been published by Metanoia in Jakarta (Indonesia). I was happy for her as I ever thought her book will give great blessing to every reader.

Honestly, when I read it and wrote a review, I was impressed about her own true story in her family life, especially about her dad who was healed from cancer miraclely and how God took his life through His plan when at the time she was writing this book to dedicate it to him.

Reading her book will give you the strength in facing the difficult life because there is always a hope behind everything happened in the life as long as we believe He will make His Way to every person who has given a trust in Him.

A Note from the School Nurse

Yesterday I got a monthly newspaper from my daughter school. One of the information I gave attention most was the note from the school nurse. I thought it would be useful if I would like to share it here.

VIRUSES

Swine Flu is the main virus that we are hearing about in the news media, but there are many viruses circulating around this time of year that can make us sick. Since many people are getting sick this time of the year with colds, sinus problems, step throut, or maybe a 'stomach bug', how do you know when you should visit the doctor and when you should just wait it out?

See your doctor right away if your child has fast and trouble breathing, bluish or gray skin, vomiting that doesn't stop, is not drinking enough, is not waking up, does not respond and does not want to be held.

Check with your doctor right away if you have trouble breathing, chest pain or pressure, dizziness, trouble thinking, vomiting that doesn't stop, flu that starts to get better but then your fever comes back or cough gets worse.

Always make sure that your child is getting plenty of fluids to avoid getting dehydrated. You can also boost your child's natural immunity with foods rich in vitamin C. Tablets of vitamin C are also very effective but make sure they also contain zinc to improve absorption. And remember germs enter the body through the nostrils and mouth/ throat so encourage our child to keep their hands off their face. It's a very effective method of germ control.

What You Need to Know about 2009 H1N1 Influenza (5)

In this post, you should need to know if there is a severe reaction in taking this vaccine.

What should you look for?
Any unusual condition, such as a high fever or behavior changes. Signs of severe allergic reaction can include difficulty breathing, hoarseness or wheezing, hives, paleness, weakness, a fast heart beat or dissiness.

What should you do?
- Call a doctor or get the person to a doctor right away;
- Tell the doctor what happened, the date and time it happened, and when the vaccination was given;
- Ask your provider to report the reaction by filing a Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) form or you can file this report through the VAERS website or by calling 1-800-822-7967.

But remember, VAERS does not provide medical advice.

VACCINE INJURY COMPENSATION

The Federal government is providing this vaccine for receipt on a voluntary basis. However, state law or employers may require vaccination for certain persons.

If you or your child has a reaction to the vaccine, your ability to sue is limited by law. However, a federal program has been created to help pay for the medical care and other specific expenses of certain persons who have a serious reaction to this vaccine.

How was your Halloween Day? I went to work in the afternoon and my little daughter stayed at home with my hubby waiting for the kids coming for treat or trick, but they said only two kids coming because it was rain.

I hope you had lots of fun yesterday, playing with your own costume and maybe having small party with your family or friends.

Below I will continue the information I got from Pennsylvania Department of Health about 2009 H1N1 Influenza. Thank you to keep visiting this Blog and reading my posts.

WHAT ARE THE RISKS FROM 2009 H1N1 INFLUENZA VACCINE?
* A Vaccine, like any medicine, could cause a serious problem, such as a severe allergic reaction. But the risk of any vaccine causing serious harm or death is extremely small.

The virus in inactivated 2009 H1N1 vaccine has been killed, so you cannot get influenza from the vaccine.

The risk from 2009 H1N1 vaccine are expected to be similar to those from seasonal flu vaccine.

Mild Problems:
- soreness, redness, tenderness or swelling where the shot was given
- fainting (mainly adolescents)
- headache, muscle aches, fever or nausea

If these problems occur, they usually begin soon after the shot and last 1-2 days.

Severe Problems:
- Life-threatening allergic reactions to vaccines are very rare. If they do occur, it is usually within a few minutes to a few hours after the shot

- In 1976, an earlier type of swine flu vaccine was associated with cases of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS). Since then flu vaccines have not been clearly linked to GBS.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

What sad I am. This morning my little daughter had fever again around 100.2 degree Fahrenheit. It is the third time in one month. She is sleeping now after I gave her Tylenol. I cheked her temperature has been normal. Thanks God!

Though she will be fine this afternon, it doesn't mean I will let her do trick or treat. I'm still worried. I know she will be sad but I'm sure she will understand.

At the same time we also can not come to Family Day event which the college where our daughters go to study is holding it this afternoon. We hope next year we will come.

Now I would like to continue posting about 2009 H1N1 influenza. Thank you to everybody who still keep continuing to read this message.

WHO SHOULD NOT GET THE VACCINE AND WHO SHOULD WAIT?
* You should not get this vaccine if ou have as severe (life threatening) allergy to eggs, or to any other substance in the vaccine. Tell the person giving you the vaccine if you have any severe allergies.

Also tell them if you ever had:
- a life-threatening allergic reaction after a dose of seasonal flu vaccine
- Guillain Barre Syndrome (a severe paralytic illness also called GBS)

Those may not be reasons to avoid the vaccine, but the medical staff can help you decide.

If you are moderately or severely ill, you might be advised to wait until you recover before getting the vaccine. If you have a mild cold or other illness, there is usually no need to wait.

Pregnancy or breastfeeding are not reasons to avoid getting this vaccine.

2009 H1N1 vaccine may be given at the same tie as other vaccines, including seasonal influenza vaccine.

This early in the morning I have finished writing my novel. It surprised me when I peeped the time on my notebook screen, it was at 2.22 AM (good luck numbers for me, huh...?!). My eyes were very tired but I was very happy as I have completed my progress for this month. Next month I'll prepare to send all materials to the production team. They have waited for me little bit longer as I have been late two months from the original schedule I made before. I'm very excited.

As I mentioned yesterday that I would post the series of the information about 2009 H1N1 Influenza, I will continue to write them below. For everybody who has subscribed to this Blog, I would like to thank for attention and interest you have given. As you know this blog was created to spread the words with a simple hope, every message can give a great blessing to every reader. THANK YOU.

WHAT IS 2009 H1N1 INFLUENZA VACCINE?
* Vaccines are being made to protect against 2009 H1N1 influenza (my husband got it two days ago from the hospital where he works and I have registered my little daughter to get this vaccine at her school)

These vaccines are produced just like seasonal flu vaccines. They are expected to be as effective as seasonal flu vaccines, will not prevent 'influenza-like' illnesses caused by other viruses. They also won't prevent seasonal flu, so you should also get seasonal influenza vaccine, if recommended.

Inactivated (killed) vaccine is injected into the muscle, like the annual flu shot. A live, intranasal vaccine is also available.

Some inactivated H1N1 vaccine contains a preservative called thimerosal. While some people have suggested that it may be related to developmental problems in children. That theory has not been supported by research. Thimerosal-free vaccine is also available.

WHO SHOULD GET 2009 H1N1 INFLUENZA VACCINE AND WHEN?
* WHO - Groups recommended to receive this vaccine first are:
Pregnant women, people who live with or care for infants younger than 6 months of age, health care and emergency personnel, anyone from 6 months through 24 years of age, anyone from 25 through 64 with certain chronic medical conditions or a weakened immune system

These groups should also be vaccinated: Healthy 25-64 year olds and adults 65 and older.

* WHEN - Get vaccinated as soon as the vaccine is available! Recommendations may change if we learn that other groups of people are at particularly high risk. Some people may need two doses of vaccine.

Dear All,

Last weekend I had hard time. On Saturday and Sunday night I could not sleep at all. My little daughter had high fever, 104.8 degree Fahrenheit. Actually she had just healed two weeks ago. My eyes could not put away from her to make sure she was fine. I never stopped praying and changed the cold small towel on her forehead. She was absent in two days and yesterday on Wednesday, she had come back already to school. I thank to God she is fine now.

Yesterday when I helped Kid Writing lesson in her class, I heard from her teacher many students were absent because they were sick.

If you live whereever you are, either in USA, Europe, Asia, Australia or Africa, etc, you must be aware as you may have heard a new influenza virus, called the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus was first identified in USA in late April 2009. The virus has caused illness ranging from mild to severe, including hospitalizations and deaths in adults and children. Many children have gotten 2009 H1N1 infection and there have been large outbreaks in some schools across the country. The Centers for Disease Control and Preventions's (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices has recommended that children and young adults aged 6 months through 24 years be vaccinated against this virus as soon as the vaccine available.

Vaccination is the best way to protect you and your child from this potentially serious disease. So, what do you know so far about this dangerous influenza??

In this post and in several upcoming posts, I will provide the important information I got from Pennsylvania Department of Health.

WHAT IS 2009 H1N1 INFLUENZA?
* It was earlier called Swine Flu, a type of flu caused by new strain of influenza virus. Because it has spread to many countries, it has been declared a pandemic influenza strain.

Like other flu viruses, it spreads from person to person through coughing, sneezing, nasal secretions, and sometimes through handling objects contaminated with the virus.

Signs of the type of this influenza can include: fatigue, chills, fever, caughing, sort throat, sneezing and muscle aches. Some poeple also have diarrhea and vomiting

Most people recover within a week but some people get pneumonia or other serious illnesses. Some people have to be hospitalized and some die.

HOW IS 2009 H1N1 DIFFERENT FROM REGULER (SEASONAL FLU)?
* Seasonal flu viruses change from year to year, but they are closely related to each other.

People who have had prior infections usually have some immunity to seasonal flu viruses.

This virus is a new virus strain. It is very different from seasonal flu viruses. Most people have little or no immunity to this new virus.

First, it's the creativity of the author, Fida Abbott, who smartly combine two great cultures: Indonesia, where she from, and America, where her husband from, into these recipes. The result? Ten great dishes that are easy to prepare. Second, not like others, the author also shares her story of how she came up with recipe ideas and it's background. This makes cooking more enjoyable. Third, pictures are nice. Even though they could be more attractive if they were more focussed and clearer. I personally like the setting and layout, even though in some pages margins are uneven. But it doesn't hurt much. Four, this book is for everyone. I'm vegetarian, but that doesn't mean I cannot use this recipe book. It gives me confidence to play around with non-meat ingredients.

That's what's fabulous! I definitely will recommend it to you. Can't wait for another series, Fida!

Celebrating Our 7th Anniversary

In celebrating our seventh Anniversary, I would like to give a great thank to Mariuca who gave Happy Anniversary wishes in the last post, Our 7th Anniversry, dated on Oct 4th, 2009. In appreciation of her wishes and attention, I would send her 200 EC this weekend.

What happened on the date of our 7th Anniversary, it was sad - my husband had diarrhea all day. Because too much liquid came out from his body, he got fever. The next day, he went to see the doctor and got antibiotic to take. It can kill the germs in his tummy.

Now my husband has to be in the tight diet because it happened twice already. It was a serious problem if he didn't take care and watch his diet. He gave me this link to help me arranging the foods he needs and avoid other foods he should not take.

Another sweet news, this morning after returning from his work, he gave me two surprised Anniversary gifts, Banana Parfait and A set of four Celtic CDs (yay!). He looked so cute when gave them to me and mentioned, "Happy Anniversary!!" (he, he...)

Now I'm very happy seeing him not sick anymore and I can concentrate to finish writing my novel soon. I have enjoyed writing it and now I will write the ending for chapter 21 and this weekend I will be ready to write chapter 22. If there is no change, chapter 22 will be the last chapter for my first novel. I'm very excited!!!

Unesco Lists Batik As Indonesian Cultural Heritage

Do you ever know the name of 'BATIK'? My husband and I, also my parent and my brother and sisters in Indonesia love wearing Batik.

Batik is regarded as a cultural icon with its own uniqueness. It contains symbols and deep philosophy of the human life cycle -- and it was submitted by Indonesia as a non-material element of cultural heritage.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has added BATIK - Indonesia's traditional dyeing technique to its intangible Cultural Heritage list. The listing gives the age-old batik tradition some degree of protection under the UNESCO charter, now it is making official at an event in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) between September 28 and October 2, 2009.

"Getting batik to be recognized by UNESCO had been a long and complex journey. The Indonesian government had to produce extensive academic research on batik to make their case." Indroyono Soesilo, Secretary to the Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare, as quoted by state news agency Antara on Tuesday, Sept 29, 2009.

I am very sure the Indonesians around the world must be grateful that the work of their (my) ancestors has been acknowledged by the world.

So far, Indonesia has registered nine of its places and practices with the UN's educational, scientific and cultural guardian. Two other cultural heritages are wayang puppetry and the kris. World heritages sites include natural ones such as Komodo National Park, Tropical Rainforest of Sumatra, and historic sites such as the Borobudur and Prambanan temple compounds and the Sangiran Early Man archeological site.

I ever learned how to make Batik when I was at the first year in Junior High School. I was so excited learning how made it on a small size of fabric (handkerchief) by using a method of hand-printing on it and covering with removable wax the parts that will not be dyed. Due to modern advances in textile industry, the technique is also used for fabric incorporating traditional batik patterns that are not necessarily produced using traditional batik techniques.

One day I would love to have a simple tool kit of making Batik. I wish one day when we visit my country, we will come back to USA and bring it. I'm sure my three daughters will be excited to practice making it. It will be fun.

My husband and I have some collections of Batik, either we bought them ourselves or getting presents from family and friends. We both also ever gave Christmas presents to our daughters, Sissy and Mimi in 2002, and in our special day when we got married, we wore Batik, as you see a picture below.

No Sweet Corns Harvest This Year

This year I don't plant so many kinds of fruits and vegetables. Besides we had so much rain almost every day in spring (so we didn't have a chance to prepare the top soil for planting areas), also I wanted to focus writing my novel at that time. I just planted red sweet corns, herbs and lavenders. My husband also was busy with his first several varities of sweet corns and tomatoes. I helped him to weed his garden while I had other spot for my red sweet corns.

All plants grew very well and we both and our little girl enjoyed watching how they grew every week, especially watching how the corns showed up with their hairs for the first time. I took some pictures and post them here.

In the middle of their growings, we were so excited waiting for the harvest time. It would be cool because we would have several kinds of corn varities, especially of my red sweet corns.

But what happened next... it was really sad, we didn't even have a chance to harvest them. The unexpected deers came and ate all of them in the night.

We didn't prevent their coming because in three years after we moved to our new house and had planted several times since we moved, we never had the problems, even seeing them. We started to see a deer crossing the main street of our area last year when we were driving in the night. I said to my husband that deer was lost but he said no. The deers were everywhere in Pennsylvania.

He was right. Finally they found our garden that was perfect for their night party. I was very very sad. I never thought they would find our garden but I was really wrong and he was right. The last picture above was the last picture of my husband's garden spot I took before getting their attacks. It was sad, wasn't it??

Next year, my husband would plan to protect our gardens to prevent the deer's attacks. Since then, I thought we would have one more problem in gardening, the deer's attacks.

Heaven by Los Lonely Boys

I'm sure if you love music, you will be familiar with a song, titled Heaven. I often listen this song many times when driving to work or driving home. It is sung by a rock band, named Los Lonely Boys.

First time I didn't know about their profiles at all, I just enjoyed their music very much. Yesterday when I went to church, the music members sang this song in the end of their performance. Wow, I would like to stand up and move my body to dance, but I just kept seating, clapped my hands and moved my head and shoulder. I love this song, especially its lyric, it is simple but gives us a deep thought: How far is heaven?

I tried to search their video and found out their profiles. Gosh, I was wrong! I thought they are one of the Americans rock band (pure), NO, they are Mexican - American rock band. I was so impressed.

Special posting on 09/09/09: A Hummingbird Visit

Today is Wednesay which has special date: 09/09/09 because it won't ever happen again twice, except in the next many years on the future (3009). I thought it is the time I should show to all my blogger friends and the visitors to this blog that I had a special visitor last month, on Tuesday afternoon, August 25, 2009.

When I was writing at my daughter's bed room, I heard something coming from the window. Wow, it was a Hummingbird. I called my daughter and I took two videos. First video when I tried to catch him and the second video I took when I was planning to let him go.

Since I planted several flowers that can attract butterflies and hummingbirds two years ago, I had so many butterflies and hummingbirds came to visit my garden and enjoy the flower's nectars. Awesome!!

My husband said, it was good luck having a hummingbird visit to our house. (Amen!!!)

ZAZZLE: Be Creative, Be Happy!!

My family and friends have recognized me that I'm a creative person. I don't refuse it since I have already recognized myself when I was a little child. I loved cross stitching, hand needle works, crafting, etc. I made my first big cross stitching when I was 10 years old, my first scarf when I was 10-11 years old, writing a teenager short story and poems when I was 13 years old, starting to make money by giving private course for the students when I was in the college (20 years old).

One special and favorite activity I had was as a member of six different vocal groups [VG. Pemuda Silo (1985-1988), VG. El-Shaddai-then we changed its name as VG. Effata (1988-2002), Joining between VG. Effata & VG Hosana (1992-1993), VG. Pemuda Genta Kasih (1992), VG. UPN Jatim (1992), VG. GKJW Tjg. Perak (1998)]. Most of my time when I was in Indonesia besides studying and working was giving private course and practicing with my Vocal Group members. I have an unique voice which it has different output sounds between speaking and singing. When I speak, my voice is light and even I don't like to hear it but friendly. When I sing, my voice will change, it is opposite 180 degree, it has different style. I thank to God for giving me this talent and I had used it to service Him in many years. All VGs I ever joined, it never came from myself, but from them who had recognized me that I had a talent in voice they needed. My voice is perfect for VG, is not for single singer. My voice can blend with theirs nicely and gave the power in appearance.

Since I moved to USA, I have left all my favorites activities and I believed at that time as it was a part of God's will, He would give other suitable activities that match with my abilities. Being busy to take care of my family is a great blessing too which I believe it is one of His blessing in my life, especially in raising a child. She has inspired me in many ways. I recognized her several skills and they stimulated me in being more creative person I can be as her Mom.

US weather is very different with Indonesia weather; 4 seasons vs 2 seasons - cold vs hot. Because of the different weathers, I spent my time most inside in the house and the very suitable activities for myself are writing, going online and cooking.

Since I knew the cyber wolrd, especially in blogging, my writing skill has improved time by time, especially in writing in my second language. My writing activity that had stagnated many years ago has started again since that time. Now I have been given a great responsibility as Managing Editor at the largest Indonesia online daily news based on Citizen Reporters that now it has almost 10.000 Indonesian Citizen Reporters from around the world and as a Director for an online writing course they own. I don't make ( a lot of) money for those (it is non profit media) but I have built a great experience and opportunity, huge networks and friends and I love them as they still brings me to be connected to all Indonesians around the world. The owners yesterday sent me an email to show their appreciation of my great work in their Team. They said I should move to Jakarta and build a bigger company and become the millionaires together.

Through blogging, I also can share my writings, my thoughts, my stories, etc and make friends, so don't be hesitate if you're interested becoming my friends. My hands widely welcome to everybody.

My other favorite activities are cooking and gardening. Since I moved to US, my husband is one of the most person who has supported me in cooking. He bought the cooking tools as a gift for my birthday, Mothers Day or Christmas presents. It made me wild to do more experiments for my own recipes. Now I have a cookbook project in series and proudly to donate all the revenue to Cystic Fibrosis foundation and to support my other upcoming books/cookbooks marketing to support cancer reseach program and unreached children program.

In gardening, since we moved to a new house in 2005 and it has large yard, my desire in gardening has growth. I have changed the empty lawn to a beautiful garden and create a place where the butterflies and hummingbirds come to have party. Although it still needs a lot of works to improve it, I have been enough satisfied with my own efforts and works. It is far from perfect yet as I wanted but I have seen 80% all of my plants have growth as I expected and I still keep learning in a new weather and many kinds of new plants.

Now, what the connection between Zazzle and the story I wrote above?
I have been so wild having ideas that most come every day in my mind and I just burry them because I still don't have enough time to exist them. My focus is for my family, work, writing my novel and cookbook projects, and other online activities - but I have discovered a website that has been so long I tried to learn in it, Zazzle. After this morning I read all their information, I think Zazzle is one of websites I was looking for. I have heard Zazzle many months ago, but I had not given my attention in it. This morning, suddenly I was interesting to learn more and I was glad knowing it.

Zazzle will be absolutely my online store for my creativity one day soon and also I am planning to promote my little daughter skill in drawing through this site.

Special Gift for Mariuca

I have made a special mini book that I created special to my family and friends. It contains the collection of my poems I wrote in English and my photographs collection. One mini book has been sent to Indonesia. My brother has received it as his birthday gift two days before his birthday, August 31.

Now it is the time I would like to give one mini book to my Blogger friend, Mariuca who had celebrated her birthday on August 29 (last week). It is little bit late because I had been sick since last Saturday.

If you are active as EC member, Adgitize member, or other blogger community members, the name of Mariuca is familiar in Blogosphere world. I have been in friendship with her since almost two years ago. Her passion in blogging has inspired me to be a good blogger I can be. She also has been as one of loyal Blogger friends since we met in cyber world. She supports me in many ways. One of them when I was as a contestant at Blognet Award last February. She has been several times becoming EC top dropper since I joined as EC Member and also as a Blogger who bought the most ads for this blog.

Though it is just a simple gift but it is a great appreciation of my big thanks to her for being a supportive friend.

VIDEOS: Third Day of the Beginning of School

I have been sick (getting flu) since last Saturday. This morning I felt much better though not 100%. I hope nobody in the family will be infected, especially for my little daughter who has started her Kindergarten School since two days ago on Monday, August 31.

This morning I took several videos of her third day school. I have been so excited she is going to the new school. As a Mom, I would also learn many things. I have been in touch with her teacher via emails and offered her if she would love to choose me as a volunteer for her class or school and here is her answer I received yesterday:

She did great today! She is such a sweet heart, I know we'll have a great time
together. I noticed her amazing artistic skills already.

I would love to have you come in to help during kid writing on Wednesdays or
Thursdays. I will be in touch to set up a specific time and day with you in a
few weeks.
