I made it so that you can simply screw it onto a 3/4 inch galvanised steel pipe.

If you have any questions please put them in the comments below and I'll respond as soon as I can. Also please share your thoughts and experience with others here if you make one.

Items You'll Need:

Kewlus Spring (KS9) - purchase here: https://kewlus.com/products/kewlus-spring-v1

Base pipe: galvanised 3/4 inch pipe (1.05 inches outer diameter) the length of roughly half your height. I used a 3 foot long pipe for my height (I'm 6ft tall). The 3/4 inch pipe has an outer diameter that is 1.05 inches. The spring is designed to fit perfectly onto this pipe. You can also combine sections of pipe using a coupling, for example 2ft section and 1ft section to allow reduction in height for a shorter person.

Umbrella base - for indoors I recommend a concrete one. For outdoors a water-filled umbrella base would be ok. You can also make your own Base/Stand to save some coin: https://youtu.be/kPiJ-fsDik0. I highly recommend making your own stand because the galvanised pipe can be simply screwed into it - great for easy assembly and also great for putting it away when not in use.

Roll of duct tape. Nothing fancy, just get a cheap one.

Length of 3/4 inch PVC pipe - you'll need 2 foot length.

One or two pool noodles. One might be enough, but if you can, get a couple. The diameter of the hole should be less than 1 inch so that it fits tightly onto the 3/4 inch PVC pipe. As an alternative you can also use pipe insulation foam which is similar to a pool noodle but just comes in black colour.

6-Step Instructions:

Cut a section of pool noodle to use of your punching bar base. I recommend about a foot. Take another section of pool noodle (roughly 18 inches) and split it lengthwise. Wrap these around the base section. Take a longer split section and wrap that around the base of the top ball. Finish by taping the whole shape from top to bottom until fully covered. It's best to explained in this video: https://youtu.be/XkDgbwQ1MKY This is your punching speed ball.

Take the remaining section of the pool noodle and slice it in half lengthwise using a knife. Wrap one of the half-sections around the punching bar, forming a circular shape. Cut off the access and tape around it with duct tape. This is your target.

Setup your umbrella base by removing the plastic insert from the top of the base pipe. Wedge one of the remaining offcuts of the half-sections of pool noodles into the umbrella base pipe. Wedge your galvanised steel pipe into the umbrella base and tighten the side screw so that it is nice and tight and there is no sideways movement in the galvanised pipe. The pipe should reach roughly to your hip.

Screw the Kewlus Spring onto the galvanised pipe in a clockwise direction so that it overlaps the pipe by one inch. Tape around the connection with duct tape for safety.

Measure off and cut 20 inches of 3/4 inch PVC pipe. Screw that into the top of the Kewlus Spring, also overlapping by one inch. Tape the connection with duct tape for safety.

Insert the punching bar onto the PVC pipe.

Get 13 pool noodles (for a 6 foot tall punching bag), a roll of cheap packing tape and a roll of cheap cling wrap (or two).

For your pole get a one inch wide PVC pipe - roughly 6 foot long.

For your platform get an MDF (particle) board at least 2 foot wide and 1/2 inch thick. Alternatively if you don't want to make the base, you can simply use an umbrella base such as this one from Amazon: https://amzn.to/3nY3J19.

For mounting your pole, get a one inch galvanised steel pipe roughly one foot long and a flange to mount it. You'll also need 4 thick, short screws to fix the flange onto your board - these are ideal: https://amzn.to/3gCO82H. Note, if you want to make your punching bag more rigid, use a two foot galvanised pipe.

For fixing your PVC pipe onto your galvanised pipe you will also need a one inch hose clamp.

Setup your platform and pole: screw the flange onto one end of your board; insert the galvanised pipe into one end of the PVC pipe and lock it in place using the hose clamp (you'll need to make some vertical cuts into the PVC pipe - see video for details); crew your pole into the flange on your board; weigh the board down with some weights or with one or two 10 litre water containers which you can buy in a supermarket for $1 each.

Take 4 of your pool noodles to make the core of your punching bag. You can wrap some tape around them to hold them together temporarily.

Cut the rest of your noodles in half. Take each half and make a ring by bringing the opposite ends together and taping them together using the packing tape - watch the video for details of how to do this.

Thread all your noodle rings onto the 4-noodle core and thread the core onto the PVC pipe.

Wrap the cling wrap around the bag making sure to distribute the cling wrap equally throughout. If you bought a second roll, wrap that too, making sure to apply more of it to areas where you will punch or kick the most.

10-Step Instructions:

Get a ball - basketball is best. Also get a plunger, remove the handle and tape it onto the ball with duct tape. This can be screwed onto the top of your spar bar to help dampen vibrations and for light punches.

Get a pair of ball bearings roughly 1 inch internal diameter and 2 inches external diameter. You can get a 2-pack of the exact bearings that I use on Amazon US here: https://amzn.to/34eLo7r or from Bunnings in Australia: https://www.bunnings.com.au/richmond-47-x-25-x-12mm-rubber-sealed-precision-ball-bearing-pack-of-2_p0103240

Get a PVC pipe Tee or Cross junction into which your ball bearings will fit. Size will depend on the size of your ball bearings - for the bearings above, I'm using a 40mm Cross junction which has an internal diameter of roughly 48.3mm (eBay: https://ebay.us/ld0S6e or Bunnings link: https://www.bunnings.com.au/holman-40mm-press-pvc-plain-tee_p3142376). Tape around each ball bearing to ensure a tight fit into the Tee or Cross junction. That is your spinner!

Get an arm-length of PVC pipe that will fit into your Tee or Cross joint. Here's the exact one from Bunnings: https://www.bunnings.com.au/holman-40mm-x-1m-class-12-press-pvc-pipe_p4750050 or on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Holman-40mm-x-1m-PVC-DWV-Pipe/224070397029?hash=item342ba2ec65:g:WhkAAOSwL3FfA14W

Get a 1/2 inch galvanised steel pipe roughly chin height for your mast and a corresponding galvanised flange.

Get a 2 foot long/wide MDF board and attach the galvanised flange two inches from one side. Screw your galvanised pipe into the flange. You'll need 4 thick, short screws to fix the flange onto your board - these screws on Amazon US are ideal: https://amzn.to/3gCO82H.

Tape around the top of your galvanised pipe where the spinner will sit, ensuring a snug fit. Add an extra layer of tape just below the bottom of the spinner to stop it from moving down.

Attach your PVC arm to the spinner. Secure it by drilling a small hole through the top (through both the joint and the arm) and insert a pin or small nail.

Get and attach a section of pool noodle on the arm using long cable ties for padding.

Use a regular char to stabilise the mast/pole by strapping the mast to the back of the chair.

An alternative to using a chair is to make a stabilisation support system - this is a more complex build component that is only available in my Fighter DIY eBook. The book also includes a link to a hidden video that shows you how to make the stabilisation support system.

Good luck making it and hope you enjoy!
Get a ball - basketball is best. Tape it to a plunger.

Get a 1 inch metal pole about chin height.

Get a 1 inch PVC pipe and Tee joint.

Get a large umbrella stand.

Get a pool noodle.

Insert your metal pole into the umbrella stand.

Cut the PVC pipe to about an arm-length and glue on the Tee joint.

Insert your Tee with the PVC arm onto the top of your metal pipe.

Secure the Tee in place by using two hose clamps of appropriate size on the metal pipe - one above and one below the Tee. Make sure to leave a small gap so that the Tee rotates freely.

Use a section of pool noodle on the arm as padding and ability to extend the length of the arm.

10-Step Instructions:

Get a ball - soccer ball or volleyball is ideal.

Get a drain plunger and good quality duct tape and tape the plunger onto the ball, ensuring not to cover the air inlet. AmazonUS: https://amzn.to/304M8eJ

For the base get a 2 foot wide MDF or "particle" board.

For the mast/pole, get a 1-inch diameter PVC pipe (in Australia this is referred to as 20mm; in US it’s referred to as 3/4 inch) - you'll need roughly shoulder height. AmazonUS: https://amzn.to/2XopfRy

For the base you'll need a short 1/2 inch galvanised steel pipe. The length of the steel pipe should be roughly 1 foot and will dictate the speed - faster with a longer steel pipe. AmazonUS: https://amzn.to/2Xo2gpJ. You'll also need the corresponding flange to mount the pipe onto your board. Amazon US: https://amzn.to/36Tbfm8

Attach the flange to one side of your board with thick, short screws. You will need to drill appropriate size pilot holes first to allow your screws to crew in easily. These screws on Amazon US are the ideal type: https://amzn.to/3gCO82H.

Attach your short galvanised steel pipe to the flange.

Take your PVC pipe and make several 1 inch cuts into the pipe at one end. Place an appropriate size hose clamp over the section with the cuts and mount the PVC pipe over the short galvanised pipe, clamping the hose clamp to lock it in place.

Attach your plunger with the ball to the top of your PVC pipe by inserting the handle of the plunger into the PVC pipe. Tape it in place.

Place two 10 litre water containers in the middle of your board to weigh down the platform.

One of my most loved projects is what I call the Total Stand, which is a punching bag stand that also doubles as a pull-up station or suspension training platform. The video below I take you through a basic overview of how to make one yourself. Here are the steps...

5-Step Instructions for How To Make a Punching Bag Stand:

Connect two 4x2 wooden beams (each roughly twice your height) at about 4/5 of their length with an eye bolt.

Drill a hole at the top of each beam and connect the tops of the beams with rope as pictured.

Using rope connected to the tops and the cross point of the beams bring the whole structure up to around 70 degree upright angle.

Tie off the ropes holding up the structure at an anchor point, such as a base of a solid tree.

Hang your punching bag from the cross point of the two beams.

Good luck making it and hope you enjoy! If you have any questions feel free to ask them in the comments below.

If you can't afford a new pair of boxing gloves, but have a pair of wraps, you can easily make DIY boxing gloves using the wraps and a pair of flip flops.

Steps To Make Boxing Gloves:

Get a pair of wraps or make a pair using an old t-shirt.

Get an old pair of flip flops - buy a cheap pair for $1 if you don't have any.

Place each flip flop on the back of your hand and wrap it to your hand with your wrap all the way from your wrist to your fingers.

If you like training outdoors and want a punching bag that you could leave out and it’s not going to deteriorate in the weather, then make yourself one of these. I made this one from old tires that I got for free from a tire shop. Most tire shops will be happy to donate some old tires if you tell them they will be used to make a punching bag. The steps below give you a basic overview of how to make one yourself. For more detailed instructions check out my Fighter DIY eBook.

5-Step Instructions on How To Make an Outdoor Punching Bag Using Old Tires:

Get 6 old tires by visiting your local tire shop and asking them to donate 6 old tires. Tell them it’s for a punching bag and they will be happy to let you have them for free.

Buy two PVC pipes the length of your stack of tires.

Drill holes on either side of each tire, making sure all the holes line up, so you can thread your PVC pipes through the holes, thus bracing the tires together.

Use rope or straps to strap the tires together and stop them from coming apart.

Attach a carabina to the top of each strap or rope for hanging your tire punching bag.

Good luck making it and hope you enjoy! If you have any questions feel free to ask them in the comments below.
