There are 16 routes, which I have set up in a Route table. I have also set up a table for the drivers and stops.

The top section (bus number, name, date, miles, fuel) are the same area on each one, but the bottom part that has to do with the route (route name/number, stops, times, counts) would be different fore each one.

My first thought is to put the bottom part into a portal. Would this be the logical choice? Or is there a better way to do it?

I can send the FM file if that would help.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm just reporting my experience, related to this post. I've converted my solution when FM12 was released because it's a future upgrade for users, down the road. I develop on an iMac 24" 4Gb ram, circa 2007. Everything was going along fine until today when the script step "show/hide text ruler"

I know you can move between portal rows, but I can't seem to find any way to get to the next portal. What I want to do is set up a script trigger when you exit a specific field (called "Letter") in portal 1, that if the value entered is "J" to add the same value in the "Letter" field in portal 2. It won't work for the script to add the record directly into the occurrence the portal is linked to because it is a join table that has it's records created via the portal. It is purely a navigation issue I am stuck on, the other parts of the script I know what I'm doing.

Screen Shot One is taken from FileMaker 11 (looks the same in FileMaker 10). Until a week or so ago this same web viewer in this same database was providing me with web form entry fields that were white, and I could read what I was writing.

It looks normal when I open the web page in Safari instead of within a FileMaker web viewer.


Screen Shot Two is the same database, converted to FileMaker 12 format, opened in FileMaker 12. This is what it is supposed to look like, and did in FileMaker 10 until very recently.


Any idea what could be causing this?

My contract is laid out as follows:

Page 1:

The only part that changes for each group is the Body -- I had originally done it as one layout, but because I only want the header and footer on page 1, if I want to print multiple records, it won't put my header on all of my records, nor will it print page 2 more than once. Ideally, page 2 will print on the back of page 1.

What's the best way to accomplish this?

Additionally, the body section of my layout I have used the print/sliding feature to remove blank space accordingly. If my body would bleed onto the second page, is there a way to write a script that would shrink the body only to fit on 1 page?

I'm fairly new to Filemaker and really green when it comes to scripting but I want to add a script to my database that will perform 1 of 3 calculations depending on what radio button is selected, if this is possible
Field Name is "Colony Count to Use" and the radio button options are "Colony Count 1", "Colony Count 2" and "Both".
The calculations are a little complex but I should be able enter them in without too many problems as long as I know where they should go in the script. Finally I'd like the answer to populate "CFU per mL" field when the script is run. (As an aside should this field just be a number instead of a calculation?)
If you need more details or if my explanation is unclear please let me know
