While the Re-Invention Tour version of "Music" didn't please me that much, this Confessions mix is surely one of my favourites ever. I think it's actually nearly impossible to beat the original groove, but this take comes really, really close. I never thought one day (oh, the drama!) I'd listen to "Music" over a sped up "Disco Inferno" sample along a vocodered "Where's The Party" chorus - a true mash-up fest! Stuart Price, my body is yours, anytime.

An acoustic ballad with both Hebrew and vocoder verses? Madonna did it! I particularly like the original version better, but this is actually quite refreshing, to be honest. I missed the French lines, though. Perhaps singing in French and strumming the guitar was a little overwhelming to Her Madgesty (I'm so gonna get bashed for that comment)! But then again, I (predictably) loved the processed bits - someone should have told Timbaland and Pharrell to keep that trend on "Hard Candy", I miss it bad.

"Forbidden Love" was surely another memorable number from the Confessions Tour, with an incredible mood being set by the haunting main melody loop - fabulous. The song sounds harder thanks to her firmer singing and the new, tougher beats thrown in by Stuart (yes, I'm mentioning him every time). I simply loved how she passed a fantastic message in the live performance by having her dancers display alleged signs of homosexual affection with conflictuous religious symbols tattooed on their bodies.

And our first Confessions post is none other than the tour's terrific opening number, a glorious mash up of "Future Lovers" with Donna Summer's "I Feel Love". The album version kind of bored me, but that was totally fixed by master Stuart* and his brand new arranging for the song. I don't know about you guys, but for me it's impossible not to picture Madonna on her S&M horse rider outfit whipping her dancers by the giant disco ball (now that's some affirmation!) while listening to this - an undeniable demonstration of the power of her performance. Talk about bootlicking, darlings! Don't mind me and get the mix already!

I know, shocker! It's been quite a while I don't post a full single, but I swear to the Lord it wasn't a conscious decision. I happened to find the entire set while looking for an unmixed version of "Heartbeats" - I'd listen to it over and over on a Ministry Of Sound lounge mixed compilation on my way to my friends' city every other weekend. Now, a couple of years later, somethings have changed, some haven't: I live in that city I'd visit, but I still love that song. Fábio once tried to talk me into knowing The Knife better, without much success (I might do it after this post though). One thing I know for sure: this will always be my perfect song to drive by.

And the rumours about the almighty Sticky & Sweet Tour just keep getting more and more exciting! The Britney collaboration on a supposed "Human Nature" and "Gimme More" mash-up seems to have given way for something much bigger: a stomping club medley throwing past summer hit "Give It To Me" in the mixture. Apparently, only Nelly Furtado has yet to say she's up for it - Timbaland and Justin said so right away, and are set to film their screen appearances anytime soon. It's not the first time Madonna gets inspiration from bootleg mixes for her tour numbers. Her dark Drowned World Tour featured a reworked version of a very popular mash-up back then, "Holiday vs. Music Sounds Better With You" - a huge favourite I shall post soon. For now, enjoy this fantastic all-star remix and pray she'll take it to the stage!

While Madonna's latest single "Give It 2 Me" is set for a mid-July proper release, a promotional 2-disc set has been sent to U.S. radios - and some evil fag has blissfully ripped it and thrown all over the Internet for us, mere mortals. A warm round of applause, darlings! Most of the mixes will feature on the upcoming physical single, except for this incredibly creative Sly & Robbie take on the song. I have to admit, I didn't see anything like this coming; quite sexy, a little reminiscent of Sean Paul (oh well, how many dancehall acts do I know anyway?), and we even get a fun rap-like cameo. Big highlight of the package!

Fresh leak, fresh leak! Now ain't he funky? Yes, sir, this is the original demo of the near-unanimous fan favourite off Madonna's lastest album, "Heartbeat" - with Pharrell singing! His vocals are a bit raw, the lyrics are somewhat different, and the main background arrangement is ~~missing (a rather calm guitar strum is played instead)~~ much subtler, but still, it sounds rather like a finished, polished version. An interesting listen!

I had been hunting this track in decent quality for quite some time, and happened to find a good rip a few weeks ago. Rare stuff, since it's featured on a limited DVD single as an exclusive b-side (rarity junkie self surfacing - go away, go away!). Hard to find or not, the bottom line is: it's really good music. Mel C should consider flirting with electronica more often, her voice suits the vibe surprisingly well. I was delighted to hear that tiny Autotune vocal loop; I mean, a Spice Girl on a pitch machine is not an everyday treat. Do you guys also feel a subtle Kylie hint here or am I the only one?

Ok, so if you're a fan of deep, meaningful Alanis, you better pass on this one. Now, if you're up for a pleasant/hilarious/trashy/danceable surprise, then off you go! In case you're wondering what the hell I'm making such a fuss about, get this: Alanis had a very embarassing 80s bubblegum pop phase in the likes of Janet and Madonna, with cheesy choregraphed videos and, naturally, a bad perm. Don't get me wrong, I find "Walk Away" quite funny, yeah - but in the best way possible, since I'm such an 80s lover! Come on, that little keyboard arpegiated riff is just plain fabulousness!

Now how many of you out there remember when Diana Ross tried to pull a Cher and make a dance comeback? I can't lie, that was the closest thing to heaven for me back then (yes, I was a virgin). 1999, dance music was huge, rap was out of fashion (good times - no offense, rap fans), "Believe" had just topped the Billboard Hot 100. Diana woke up some random day with all that scary, big hair of hers and said "darling, I wanna be a dance diva too!". So she gave Metro geniuses Brian and Mark a call, who went on to remix what would be her last UK Top Ten hit so far, "Not Over You Yet". Gotta love the trashy video as well, with cheesy, but fairly hot male dancers and, surprise, a huge (HUGE!) hairdo! Major! Diva!

One of the best tracks Sophie ever laid, period. Shamefully enough, it's the b-side (so wrong!) to her 2007 "Me And My imagination" single. I did like the single quite a lot, but "Move To The Music" just hypnotised me. I don't know if it was the pulsating synth work that got me, or her very noticeable cocky accent (which I secretly love); all I know is that whenever it's on, I move to it. Huge favourite!

My previous upload of it a few months ago was a bit messy and generated a considerable amount of hate mail, so here we go again. "OMG, he's repeating himself!", you say. Not exactly, darling. I actually happened to find a perfect seamlessly mixed MP3 of the entire deal, just waiting for me to remaster it and split into proper songs - which is exactly what you'll get here. Yes, sir, I am indeed back! Dark times are over, and my regular life of sin is back on track. For those who are wondering, yes, the recess paid off and you can all call me Mr. SAP-Systems-Specialist now (I know, "shut up, geek").

I promised myself to totally revamp the blog design for its triumphant return, but this damn hangover is preventing me from thinking about it. Or maybe I'm just really lazy right now. So I just retouched a few minor details (which is my nice way of saying "almost nothing"). Be sure to answer the poll about download servers, that's, like, almost relevant.

And right now, I'm temporarily moving to São Paulo to take a (insanely demanding) post graduation course and probably won't have any spare time to blog.
