Once upon a time in Mumbai (Mumbaai) Movie Review

Just returned from the movie, I must confess, I was not expecting anything at all from this movie but the audience was expecting lot more from the movie. To my surprise, the show was housefull. For past few months, I have never seen Friday night shows going housefull, so this was kind of a good surprise which started raising my expectations (From nil to atleast something) and I must say, the movie was much much more better than what I had expected.

Okay, let’s jump to the story. The movie is set in 1970′s era where whole Bombay.. oops, Mumbai was controlled by a don / Smuggler named Sultan Mirza (Ajay Devgn). Sultan believed in making friends than making enemies and due to this he had whole Mumbai under his control. He knew how to handle each and every situation tactfully. Sultan hires to Shohaib (Emraan Hashmi) and makes a mistake of trusting him and giving control of whole Mumbai to him. Shohaib believes more in power than anything else. He ends up doing everything what Sultan was against it. So what’s gonna happen next? Does it sound a common story? Well, You will have to watch it to know more.

We have seen so many gangster movies in the past and I won’t say this one is very different from other movies but this one surely stands out. The one and only person to make it happen is, Ajay Devgn. It was joy watching him as a gangster. I was actually fed up of his comedy roles so this one brought a refreshing change. No doubt Emraan Hashmi was very good too but Ahay Devgan stands on top in the league. The actresses did not have much to do but both, Kangana Ranaut and Prachi Desai did their job very well. Randeep Hooda was decent in his appearance but his role somewhat was of a confused police officer.

The movie was good no doubt but there were few instances where some serious scenes made people laugh, specially couple of scenes between Emraan Hashmi and Prachi Desai. Even one of the scenes between Ajay Devgn and Kangana Ranaut was a messed up job. They tried to show the lighter side of the don but they ended up making fool of a don. (This scene was in a restaurant, when both meet for the first time for the dinner) But apart from this, the movie was directed quite well. Really liked the way Sultan’s character was portrayed.

Music of the movie was quite okay, couple of songs were good, specially Pee Loon, sung by Mohit Chauhan was superb.

So overall, the movie was quite good, it’s definitely worth watching and do watch it in theater. I would rate this movie

Vidya Balan Wants to Romance With Salman Khan

Many actors in Bollywood wanted to work with talented actress, Vidya Balan, but the actress wants to work Salman Khan. The 32-year-old actress wants to do a romantic film with Salman Khan believing that Salman Khan is one of the most romantic actors in bollywood.

But Salman Khan seems like to be paired with new and fresh faces like Asin, Sonakshi, Ayesha, etc. When asked about the heroes that she would like to lure someday, Vidya quickly mentioned Salman and stated that he’s the quintessential lover. And the next actor she’d prefer was superstar Shahrukh Khan. She even called Salman the ultimate romantic star.

Simultaneously, the actress is doing lot of work on her looks. Vidya has been completely doing a lot of homework by spending a lot of time on the theme and her look for the shoot.

Shahid Kapoor: An Obedient Son

No doubt Shahid Kapoor is an obedient son that’s why actor grew beard and now the actor has been mortified by his Pankaj Kapoor on the sets of Mausam. The actor is addicted to some of the songs of the flick. The young actor was in so much love with that he was blasting out in his room before leaving for the shooting.

But he didn’t know that his father will react so badly. Pankaj Kapoor, who stays one floor below, heard the strains of the song playing continuously from his son’s home and he quickly warn Shahid about two things. Firstly, he didn’t want to disturb neighbors with loud music; secondly, he didn’t want that music of the film leak out so early.

Being an obedient son, Shahid papa’s instructions well. Next he was grooving to the same number, but this time with his headphones on.

Dimpy Ganguly Left Rahul’s Home at 4 am

Two days back, Fillum reported that Rahul Mahajan, who married Dimply Ganguly on the NDTV Imagine reality show, has been persuading Payal to come back in her life, and now he is in again in news because of domestic violence with his wife, Dimpy Ganguly. Kolkata-based model walked out of home at 4 am in the morning yesterday.

Dimpy Ganguly married Rahul Mahajan, son of BJP leader Pramod Mahajan four-month-back on the TV reality show. She alleged,

“Rahul beat me up early on Thursday morning after waking me up to know the contents of a message that had beeped on my phone. When I asked him to go back to sleep, he flew into a rage and began hitting me. He punched, kicked and dragged me by hair.”

When Dimpy was not able to take anymore, she took her phone and left house at 4 am in the morning. Dimpy says,

The problems started after her insistence on appearing for her second year exam. Rahul was not happy with her trips to Kolkata for the same.

When he got angry, he would also get physical. One such fight got so out of hand that I had to call my mother-in-law. Later he was angry that I had involved his mother in the affair,”

This is not the first time; firstly he did domestic violence with his first wife, Shweta Singh, Commercial Pilot with Jet Airways. The couple got divorce in 2008.

Hema’s Oh Khuda Back on Shooting

After throwing out director, Mayur Puri from the film, Hemai Malini and his crew members are back to Rajasthan to shoot her forthcoming film, Tell Me Oh Khuda. As per reports, Hema throw Mayur out of the film because of creative differences. The producer, Hema Malini will now direct the film in a new way. Apparently, now the film is being reshot again in all the four locations where it had already been shot at Rajasthan, Goa, Mumbai and Turkey. Hema’s rapport is so good with technicians, associates, actors and other members that they have agreed to give extra dates for free. And so, Esha Deol, Chandan Roy Sanyal and Arjun Bajwa are all in Rajasthan, shooting for the film all over again. Hema and Esha arrived on Sunday, and began shooting almost immediately. A source says,

“The film is currently being shot in Osia Village near Jodhpur. Hemaji told her team to forget about the incident and start afresh.”

Though actors, technicians, and other members of the film are not charging any fee but still the cost of extra shooting is expected to cost the producer 3 crore.

Indian Idiol, Swaroop Khan Got Bollywood break

Swaroop Khan, nineteen-year-old singer, a folk singer from Rajasthan and also an Indian Idiol 5 Contestant, has already got a Break in Bollywood. The young singer got an opportunity to lend his voice to a track by ace composer, Bappi Lahiri.

The legendry composer signed the singer for a song in the forthcoming movie, Emotional Atyachar. Bappi Lahiri says,

“Swaroop truly represents the soulful Rajasthani folk music in all its glory. After watching his performance week after week, I was so impressed with his quality and versatility in singing that I was more than happy to give him a break. I am confident people will enjoy listening to his voice.”

This young singer is excited for being getting the break in Bollywood. Sawroop says,

“I am ecstatic about getting a chance to work with Bappi-da. It’s a joyous moment for me. I am grateful to the jury and Sony Entertainment Television for giving me this wonderful platform to showcase my talent that enabled this big break.

Asin’s Film Banned in US

It seems that the good days for Asin has been over as the actress’ films have been banned by the Federation of Tamil Associations of North America (FeTNA), an umbrella body of more than 30 Tamil organizations across the United States. Though, the actress started her career in Bollywood with Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir Khan, but after that her career was not stable.

Recently the actress’ films have already been banned by the South Indian Film Artistes Association (SIFAA) because the actress visited Lanka to shoot for a Bollywood film, Ready opposite to Salman Khan. Now, FeTNA has banned her films too. As per FeTNA Chief, Palani Sundaram statement,

“The Federation of Tamil Sangams of North America will boycott films of Asin because of her visit to Sri Lanka despite a ban by the Tamil film industry.”

But the actress claimed that she has not disobeyed Nadigar Sangam as she stayed away from the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) award ceremony in Sri Lanka and she was there because of her professional restrictions.

Asin also confirmed that she had a talk with SIFAA president Sarath Kumar and is ready to abide by the joint committee’s direction.

Priyanka Chopra’s Retro look for Khatron Ke Khiladi

Priyanka Chopra is all set to face all dare stunts on the Colors’ adventure reality show “Fear Factor – Khatron Ke Khiladi 3. She is not only practicing all stunts but she has also adapted Retro look for the show. The actress is wearing denim hot pants teamed with belt, knee-length boots, and cropped yellow top with a black leather biker jacket accompanied by gloves for the first promo of the show.

The 28-year-old actress’ motto is to distract male contestants on the show. Priyanka completed her first shooting stunts in Bangkok. The actress says,

“That’s what my intention is. To make them so distracted they won’t be able to do their stunts.”

“I rode a dirt bike. I shot with an alligator and a bull. It was fun.”

Priyanka Chopra’s new look for the show is styled by Bollywood stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania. The actress has been secretly rigorously practicing for the heart-in-the-mouth motorbike stunts show. These stunts involved a motorbike race where Priyanka challenged a group of youngsters to a race through terrain that would scare even a Grand Prix winner. In-fact the channel also offered her to use a body double but Priyanka insisted on doing the entire motorbike stunt-stint on her own.

Excited and charged Priyanka did all stunts for a full 20 hours on the first of the two days of shooting in Bangkok. The actress says,

“There is no challenge in half-measures. You either do the whole thing or don’t do it at all. I’ve always been fascinated by mobikes. I love mobike stunts.”

“When I had seen Tom Cruise do the mobike stunts first, all I thought was, ‘Gawd if only I could get to do that.’ I guess my wish came true.”

The ride was not all fun and games. Priyanka has returned to Mumbai with quite a number of bruises. “But the pain was worth it. You can’t be one of the boys on the bike and not get your share of bruises.”

The actress needs to wrap all her assignments by October before the shooting of Don 2 starts in Berlin. The actress is also doing her stunts in Don2 as well.

Is Sonakshi Sinha Single?

Sonakshi Sinha, who is debuting in Salman’s home production, Dabangg, has been dating Aditya Shroff, the Head of Programming and the advertising division of Fame multiplexes, from quite long. The actress called quits with her boyfriend, Aditya two ago.

This seems that the actress is single and now, concentrating on her career. A source says,

“Sonakshi and Aditya were dating each other for over two years. They parted ways two months ago. The couple had a major fight over some internal problem.

Aditya’s behaviour really angered Sonakshi and she decided to part ways with him.

Moreover, the actress didn’t want her personal life to affect her work. So she ensured the relationship ended on a good note.”

However, after their splitsvilla also Sonakshi and Aditya maintained their friendship. A source adds,

“Recently, Aditya was seen at many Dabangg-related events but Sonakshi has now asked him not to be a part of any in future.

She does not want the media to see them together.”
