The Zooey and Sam Jackson iPhone ads are the worst. However, that Clint Eastwood GM ad wouldn’t have had the same effect with a no-name actor.

I really have kind of the same complaint with animated movies, too. Like sure, Kung Fu Panda is great with Dustin Hoffman and Jack Black as the leads. But there’s no reason to horn in Seth Rogan, Lucy Leu, and David Cross in bit roles that could easily go to talented voice actors cheaper.

I wish I had shouted that at my graduation ceremony, “Hey everybody! We’re all gonna get college degrees!”

I’m a child of the 80s and 90s, so ‘Animal House’ is sadly nothing more than a movie title to me. But I think I know what the next time I’m ordering on Netflix is. Glad to have the podcasts back!

I was never a fan of Buffy/Angel or Dollhouse – couldn’t get into those shows. However, I am a big fan of Firefly. And I did really enjoy Cabin In The Woods and The Avengers. So, I’m neither a fanboy nor a hater – I kind of latch onto the stuff he does that I like and ignore the rest.

I would say that most Seagal movie titles are English idioms: common sayings that always take that particular form and which often don’t make sense when taken literally. “Above the law” is never rendered as “above justice” or “on top of the law”, for example.

Marked for Death, Kill Switch, Belly of the Beast, Exit Wounds, Half Past Dead, Out of Reach, Under Siege, etc. are all things you would find as entries in an English as a Second Language dictionary with asterisks by them because they need special explanation.

If he lives long enough, look for Seagal movies called:
– Rock the Boat
– Devil to Pay
– On Tenterhooks
– Spill the Beans
– Butterflies in Your Stomach

I finally saw this movie a couple of weeks ago, and I was really disappointed. It got really good reviews, but I thought Jennifer Lawrence was awful. Not only was Magneto Polish-with-an-English-accent, he suddenly became really, really Irish at the climax. Kevin Bacon livened up the nothing plot, but Anthony Hopkins would have kicked that part’s ass. That little Welshie would’ve jumped at Kevin Bacon money faster than John Rhys-Davies.

I’m with Colin. Tonn tries, and trying is all we can ask for from a junkie wacky on the tranqs. This was a great review. It’s like he was vomiting monster movies.

Couple things. Kari Wuhrer was in Anaconda. Dina Meyer was in Bats. And my dreams. Pirahna was directed by Joe Dante. I’ve never seen Cujo. Is Dee Wallace as MILFy in it as she was in ET? ‘Cause I’m just sayin’. My dreams.

I am extremely concerned that you haven’t seen ROAD HOUSE. Please stop whatever you are doing (taxes, performing surgery, saving cute animals from a burning building, etc.) and rent it immediately. Don’t watch it on TV until you’ve seen it in full, unedited for content glory.

Oh wow… I almost forgot that I was listening to the Bacon and not the Tonncast.

Oh, I hate it when I see people watching a 4×3 picture stretched out to 16×9. I’m like, “Don’t you SEE that?!” And they’re like, “No, what’s wrong.”

I know people who watch nothing but standard definition cable on their hi-definition TV.

Great fun, as usual, guys. Todd’s inspiration for this week’s game struck me as a good game in itself. What movie was playing INSIDE another movie? Like, in Halloween, the movie Thing From Another World was playing, so the answer to Halloween is Thing From Another World. This would be hard enough that you’d have to give a hint of some kind.

I know its not about movies, but the film THE TV SET was a really interesting look at how shitty tv shows get made. I’m not sure how accurate it was, but I thought it was pretty fun. David Duchovny’s portrayal as a writer slowly selling out cracked me up, though it could have used one sexy letter.

Plus it had Judy Greer in it, so it should have got a mention!

Great podcast as usual. I love when Falk is cranky. (So Steve, you didn’t ruin the podcast). Have you guys heard about this? ” Katherine Heigl is in talks to star in the film noir puppet comedy The Happytime Murders. You read that right, a film noir puppet comedy. The film comes from director Brian Henson (son of puppet pioneer Jim Henson) and has been in development at the Henson Company for quite some time. The pic takes place in a world inhabited by both humans and puppets, but puppets are viewed as second-class citizens. The logline goes like this:

“When the puppet cast of an 1980s kids TV show gets murdered one by one, a disgraced detective-turned-private eye puppet takes on the case” (collider.com)

I’m, pretty sure you guys are owed some money if Pepe the shrimp shows up in this movie. And I guess Katherine will be spending a lot more time in movie jail.
