How to submit Loops to FilmLoop.com

Once you've made your Loop, simply turn ON the "Public" flag:

FilmLoop 2.0 users for Windows: In the Studio View, choose "View/Set Options" from the Share menu. Shows the Loop Options and Members Dialog. Check on the "Public" box.

FilmLoop Macintosh users: Ctrl-click on your Loop and Choose "Loop Options and Members". Check on the "Public" box.

Hi, my name is Eric, I live in Paris and I love my city. I love it so much that about one and a half years ago, after I was offered a digital camera by my family, I decided to publish a photo a day on a blog, that I quite logically called Paris Daily Photo.

To be quite honest I thought it would not last more than 3 months, but quite unexpectedly I got caught up with the game... Everyday I try to give visitors a glimpse of the funny, the cultural, the social, the behind-the-scenes, the political and of course, the beautiful of Paris. After 18 months, I now have the pleasure of greeting 1,000 visitors a day.

But what I am the most proud of is that, now, about 150 other bloggers have taken up the hobby along with me and that we form a real community whose work you can now see on a portal at this address: http://www.dailyphotoblog.com. (It's still in beta so it's password protected: login: me - Password: ILoveCDPB!)

FilmLoop
One thing I noticed early on, was that most people do not like to read a lot of text. The most successful City Daily Photo bloggers write a lot about a photo, but in very few words. Thus, FilmLoop has become the perfect tool for me. I use it mainly for three purposes:

1) Show all my photos in the side bar of my blog (people don't always think of browsing blog archives, with FilmLoop, they don't have to, it's right in front of their eyes).

2) Promote Paris Daily Photo wherever I can (email...) and drive traffic towards it.

3) Allow my 200 subscribers to the Paris Daily Photo loop to keep photos of their favorite city at all time on their desktop.

Thus, right after posting a photo, around midnight each night, I immediately update FilmLoop so that people have the latest daily photo. It has also brought me a lot of traffic and loyal visitors, which makes the dialog on my blog so much more interesting.

Next Plans for FilmLoop
Due to the fast growth of the City Daily Photo blog community, I have just installed FiImLoop on a new City Daily Photo blog portal that combines all of the local blogs into one sight. Very soon, people will be able to view photos from all over the world through the FilmLoop technology and be able to watch their “favorite movie” from their desktop. I particularly like the color and text panels and collaging tools. Because of the remote publishing feature, I can now publish where and when I want. There are some nights where midnight comes quicker than others! I also appreciate that now, people can view any photo, big size, on their screen without having to download FilmLoop right away.

What's a Photo Story?
Just like it sounds, a photo story is a group of photos with text and any other creative elements that tells a story. We call them Loops. Use captions or put the text right on the pics. We make this easy with the free FilmLoop Studio software. Do anything you want, just no nudity, offensive stuff, etc.

Searching Loops

Since we launched in November of 2005, there have been literally millions of Loops made. Some of those Loops have been marked as "public", which means their owners said it was OK to list them on our public network. We've also made a fair few Loops ourselves.

Now you can search through these Loops. Go to www.filmloop.com and click on "Search" in the top menu bar. You'll find some seriously fun gems in there. Have fun!

If images are an irregular shape, make them PNGs with a transparent background so they sit over the top of FilmLoop shapes. (You can make transparent PNGs in PowerPoint and PhotoShop for e.g.)
