According to Entertainment Weekly, Diaz is interested in playing the female lead in “The Green Hornet” that will star Seth Rogen and be directed by Michel Gondry.

Seth Rogen also wrote the script with writing partner Evan Goldberg.

Rogen will star as Britt Reid, a bored playboy who inherits his father’s crusading newspaper, the Daily Sentinel. By night he is a masked hero, fighting crime with his sidekick Kato, who has incredible martial arts skills.

“The Green Hornet” which stars Seth Rogen and Stephen Chow is set to start shooting in the next few months and Sony planning to release it on July 9th, 2010.

The story of “Jennifer’s Body” revolves around a cheerleader who is possessed by a demon and starts feeding off the boys in a Minnesota farming town. Her “plain Jane” best friend must kill her, then escape from a correctional facility to go after the Satan-worshiping rock band responsible for the transformation.

The film was written by Oscar-winner Diablo Cody(Juno) and was directed by Karyn Kusama (Aeon Flux). Starring Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried, Johnny Simmons, Adam Brody and J.K. Simmons.

Universal Pictures has released a restricted trailer for the upcoming Judd Apatow’s comedy “Funny People.”

Plot summary: When seasoned comedian George Simmons (Sandler) learns of his terminal, inoperable health condition, his desire to form a genuine friendship causes him to take a relatively green performer (Rogen) under his wing as his opening act.

“Funny People” stars Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Jason Schwartzman, Leslie Mann, Eric Bana, RZA, Aziz Ansari, Aubrey Plaza and is scheduled to hit theaters on July 31st.

The movie directed by Robert Luketic (”21,” “Monster-in-Law,” “Win a Date with Tad Hamilton”) follows a morning show producer (Katherine Heigl) who can’t manage to find a romantic interest. She is put through a series of tests by her male chauvinist correspondent (Gerard Butler) in order to aid him in proving his relationship theories.

The movie which also stars Eric Winter, Nick Searcy, Bree Turner, Cheryl Hines, John Michael Higgins and Kevin Connolly will hit theatres on July 24, 2009.

Check out two TV spots for “G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra,” starring Brendan Fraser, Channing Tatum, Sienna Miller, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Dennis Quaid.

The story is set at Brussels-based G.I. J.O.E, an acronym for the Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity, and revolves around an international co-ed force of operatives who use high-tech equipment to battle Cobra, an evil org headed by a Scottish arms dealer.

This new adaptation of Jules Verne’s classic “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” will tell the origin of Captain Nemo and his submarine warship, the Nautilus. Nemo is a mysterious but noble antagonist in the book, a scientific genius with a thirst for knowledge and a desire for revenge against the forces of imperialism.

The 1954 original “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” was the first live-action film made by Walt Disney, who famously bet his studio on a movie best remembered for the giant squid scene. It became the second-highest grossing film that year and won three Oscars. Captain Nemo played by James Mason and Ned Land by Kirk Douglas.

Sony Pictures has just released a new trailer and poster for the upcoming film “District 9.”

In the movie  an alien race arrives on planet Earth and are rounded up and shipped to live as refugees at a site in South Africa named District 9. A corporation is given the task of figuring out their weapon systems and discover that the technology requires alien DNA to work. When a human is infected with this alien DNA, all hell breaks loose and he becomes the most wanted man on the planet. And the only place for him to hide is District 9.

“District 9″ is based on “Alive in Joburg“, a short film produced by Neill Blomkamp, Sharlto Copley, Simon Hansen and Shanon Worley. Directed and co-written by Blomkamp, it features the likes of William Allen Young, Robert Hobbs, Jason Cope and many others.

Sony will distribute this sci-fi movie across the U.S. on August 14, 2009.

The Harry Potter 6 movie opens next week (on Wednesday, July 15) - but the film already represents 61% of daily ticket sales on Fandango.

Advance ticket sales for the new Potter movie are outpacing advance sales for “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” and the fifth Potter movie, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” at the same point in those films’ sales cycles (eight days before release date).

According to an ongoing Fandango survey of more than 3,000 moviegoers planning to see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince:

• 85% of respondents have read all seven of the Potter books.
• 84% would be interested in visiting Potter locations from the new film.
• 80% would buy a ticket to a Daniel Radcliffe movie in which he doesn’t play Harry Potter.
• 73% are fine with the fact that the last Potter story will be split into two separate movies.

“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” will try to edge past “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” as the most successful film of the summer. That will be no small task considering that Revenge of the Fallen has only been a step or two behind The Dark Knight since opening on June 24.

“Harry continues to be ‘The Chosen One’, especially among movie fans,” says Rick Butler, Chief Operating Officer for Fandango. “The Half-Blood Prince is turning out to be one of our fastest-selling titles of the year, and has consistently been a top-seller ever since tickets went on sale on June 17.”

The long-term prospects for Half-Blood Prince also look promising. July is filled with releases aimed mainly at adult audiences such as “The Ugly Truth” and “Funny People.” “Truth” and Disney’s “G-Force” open the weekend after Potter 6, and G-Force won’t hit nearly as many demographics as the boy wizard will. Not until “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” opens on August 7 will Half-Blood Prince face a threat for the attention of teenage moviegoers.

Plot summary: Thailand, the fifteenth century. Under his wing, the child will soon learn to master a multitude of martial arts techniques of warfare and handling of many weapons.

Now adults, Tien (Tony Jaa) passes tests with flying making him an accomplished fighter, and became one of the most respected members of Garuda. But the young man is driven since childhood by a dark desire for revenge that nothing can stop it. His target: the terrible Rajasena lord responsible for his misfortunes past, and it will reach its once formidable lieutenants defeated.

“Ong-Bak 2″ is directed by Thai martial artist Tony Jaa himself as his first feature film. The script was written by stunt coordinator and filmmaker Panna Rittikrai who previously wrote the screenplay for “Ong Bak” and “Born to Fight”.

The film is scheduled to hit US theaters on October 23, 2009  in limited release.

“Los Bandoleros,” an original short film directed and written by Vin Diesel showcased on the Blu-ray and DVD release of “Fast & Furious” available July 28, receives its U.S. premiere in celebration of the Universal Studios Home Entertainment release.

The film, shot entirely in Dominican Republic, tells the intriguing back story about the characters and events leading up to the explosive oil truck heist in “Fast & Furious.”

Featuring “Fast & Furious” cast members Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tego Calderon, Don Omar and Sung Kang.

Imagi Studios debuted a new teaser trailer for “Gatchaman” at the 2009 Anime Expo in Los Angeles.

The big screen adaptation is based on the 1970s Japanese TV series “Science Ninja Team Gatchaman.” Aired in the U.S. as “Battle of the Planets” and “G-Force,” it soon became a widely popular syndicated TV series.

The film is set in a future world grappling with environmental and technological issues. The story focuses on five reluctant heroes whose remarkable genetic code makes them Earth’s only hope of defeating extra-terrestrial invaders.

“Gatchman” is directed by Kevin Munroe (TMNT), At this point, the movie does not have release date yet.

The teaser trailer is short and the quality of the image isn’t great but check it out and let us know what you think.

“Giallo” is an English-language Italian serial killer thriller, with Adrien Brody as police inspector Enzo Avolfi. Emmanuelle Seigner (The Ninth Gate), Byron Deidra and Elsa Pataky also stars the movie.

In Italy, an American woman fears her sister may have been kidnapped. Inspector Enzo Avolfi fears it’s worse. They team up to rescue her from a sadistic killer known only as Yellow.

YELLOW chooses his victims according to their beauty, because he is not beautiful. He was locked up as a child, and now shows pleasure in kidnapping beautiful women and torturing them. He submits them to unspeakable torture, leaving long agony, until he is completely satisfied. Then he brutally kills and discards their bodies.

YELLOW is a “death machine” of incredible efficiency; he always knows exactly when and how to hit, and knows, with precision, who will be his next victim. He’s very shrewd and intelligent, identifying his prey especially among tourists. The last is an Asian student, who he has just kidnapped and holds prisoner in his sordid cache. But he has already identified the next: Celine (Elsa Pataky — Brody’s real-life girlfriend).

Meanwhile, Linda (Seigner), her sister, has just arrived in Turin and is very concerned because Celine has not been heard from. She decides to contact the police who entrusts the case to Inspector Enzo Avolfi (Brody), a rather shrewd character that does not enjoy high esteem among his colleagues. Meanwhile the body of a young Asian student is found devoid of life. The Inspector Avolfi, who knows well the psychology of that serial-killer, is certain that if he fails to stop YELLOW, the next victim will be Celine.

The thriller premiered at Edinburgh last month, and will also screen at UK Frightfest in August, 2009.

“Giallo” directed by Dario Argento from the script by Jim Agnew is expected to be released in US theaters on September, 4th, 2009.

Stephen Norrington, the original Blade helmer, has confirmed that he is working on a Blade prequel with Stephen Dorff (Blade, World Trade Center.)

“It will be a prequel to the ‘Blade’ movies, Deacon’s story,” Dorff previously said. “It’s a new trilogy the director has created. It will cool. We hope to shoot the first film next year. Frost is a character I have never been able to shake.”

Now in an interview with Comics2Film at Mania.com exclusively, Norrington confirmed the news but said that the project is not exactly how Dorff described it, but close. He added that the Dorff came up with the idea and it “has evolved into a very interesting story.”

Filming for the first film should get underway next year.

The first Blade opened in 1998, starred Wesley Snipes, earned $131.2 million at the worldwide box office and was followed by two sequels. Norrington hasn’t directed a film since 2003’s “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.” After years away, he’s getting back behind the camera though for the reinvention of “The Crow” franchise currently in the works.
