Now that wish will come true somewhat. The Monty Python gang will all be appearing in a new film, a science fiction comedy called Absolutely Anything.

Now, before you get all excited, take note that the Monty Python guys – John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin – will be lending their voices to the movie, which is a mixture of computer animation and live action. Terry Jones will be directing the film. The movie is about aliens who give a human the power to do absolutely anything. The aliens did this not out of benevolence but as some sort of prank to see how the human will make a mess of things with his new powers. There is talk that Robin Williams will also be included in the movie, voicing a talking dog who actually knows more about what is happening.

If you’re a hard core Monty Python fan then you’d have noticed two names that are missing from the article – Graham Chapman died in the 80s and Eric Idle hasn’t officially signed on yet to do the movie.

Terry Jones is warning fans though that Absolutely Anything is not a Monty Python movie, though he said that it will have some of the sensibilities of the legendary comedy troupe. It may not be the actual Monty Python reunion that everyone is hoping for but this is the closest we’ll get to one and for that we should all be excited.

The current Evil Dead remake project has hit a snag. Star Lily Collins has reportedly dropped out of the movie.

The actress’ camp is citing scheduling conflicts as the main reason for her decision to let go of the project. This is a big blow to the remake of the Sam Raimi-directed horror classic. The remake also has Raimi behind it so it’s also a sought after project in Hollywood because of its pedigree.

No one has been talking about what exactly the scheduling conflict really is. But many think that the conflict may be with Collins’ promotion work for Mirror Mirror, one of the Snow White movies coming out. Another project Collins is involved in is the film adaptation of The Mortal Instruments, which will be directed by Scott Stewart.

Raimi will have to go back and look for a replacement for Collins. For the remake, Raimi won’t be sitting on the director’s chair, he’ll be donning the producer’s hat instead. Fede Alvarez has been chosen to direct the Evil Dead remake. According to the production schedule, filming should begin by March so that it will be ready in time for an April 2013 domestic release. The script was co written by Alvarez with Rodo Sayagues with a little help from the renowned Diablo Cody.

Oh, and if you’re wondering why Lily Collins is in the film, rumors are the new remake will feature a femal lead. Yes, a female lead — think Ash with PMS.

File this under “I’ll believe it when I see it.”

Star Wars creator George Lucas said that he is planning to retire – from making big budget movies. He made this claim after production for his new movie Red Tail ended.

According to Lucas, “I’m moving away from the business, from the company, from all this kind of stuff.”

George Lucas had a hard time making Red Tail, his World War II epic. The movie wasn’t refused by all of the major studios, forcing Lucas to finance the movie on his own and even publicize it himself. Lucas had such a bad experience that he said that he is not going to do any blockbusters (except for any future Indiana Jones sequels). He said he will just concentrate on smaller, experimental and esoteric movie projects that will be more at home in art house cinemas.

Another factor that has turned him off of big budget movies are the constant criticisms he’s getting from fans of his Star Wars movies. The main flak he’s been getting is from the constant tinkering he’s been doing with the movies. He said that he chose the path of independence but only traded the interference of major film studios for the harsh fanboy criticisms. Lucas defended his actions by saying that it’s his movie, and it has his name on it so he has the right to change it to the way he wants it. He said that there’s no point in making any more Star War movies if all he’ll get are the kind of negative comments from fans and pronouncements about what a “terrible person” he is.

Lucas’ friend, celebrated director Francis Ford Coppola, said that it’s time for Lucas to “show his other side” now that he’s proven his talents in making commercial movies.

The big question is, will Lucas really follow through with his plans? And will this mean he’s finished doing stuff to the Star Wars movies?

The Hollywood star got a big break snagging the role of Captain America. It’s such a huge opportunity that will definitely open new doors. Evans is parlaying this new influence in Hollywood not by getting the usual and boring big-budgets – although he already has that with the upcoming Avengers movie, a part of the deal for getting Captain America – but by getting into a small movie that has a killer creative team.

Evans is currently in negotiations for a role in Snow Piercer, a movie that will be directed by The Host director Bong Joon-ho. For those of you who still don’t know about The Host, it’s a Korean monster movie that redefines the “monster on the loose” genre. Think Godzilla, only with humor, drama and action all spliced together.

Snow Piercer is about a group of travelers trapped inside a train amidst a hostile environment of snow and ice. The travelers try their best to survive amidst this obvious challenge. But things start to deteriorate in the train as well as they start turning on one another.

To give more weight to Snow Piercer, the script was written by Bong Joon-ho with another one of Korea’s best directors, Park Chan-Wook, who is most known in the US as the director of Old Boy.

Filming for Snow Piercer is set to begin this March in Prague.

There’s no word on what exactly Evans will be playing if he locks in a deal, but if he does sign on, he’ll report to the Prague set in March to start shooting.

Okay, the bar I may have set is low but you’ll be surprised with how many superhero movies still manages to fail to meet the standards I’ve set (I’m looking at you Wolverine).

I loved the fact that Thor was directed by accomplished actor/director Kenneth Branagh, who is actually a personal idol of mine. He engaged me with his tactic to inject a little Shakespearean tragedy to the Thor movie, which other directors would have ignored. Unfortunately, he won’t be back for the sequel. The new director chosen for the Thor 2 is Alan Taylor, who has recently gained acclaim for directing the smash fantasy series A Game of Thrones. With preproduction for Thor 2 underway, the attention of Marvel Studios has shifted quite understandably to the script. Original Thor screenwriter Don Payne has submitted a draft of the script but it has been reported that Marvel Studios wants to have the first draft rewritten and is bringing in Robert Rodat to rewrite the draft. Rodat is an accomplished written. He wrote the script for Saving Private Ryan and has earned an Oscar nomination for his work. His most recent work is creating and producing the hit Scifi TV series Falling Skies.

Rewriting scripts is nothing new. It’s a practice that is often done in Hollywood. Rodat should work fast though, the Thor sequel is already scheduled for a November 15, 2013 release.

In fact, it is so prevalent that people are now issuing year-end lists on piracy – it’s that significant.

TorrentFreak, a popular Bittorrent news site, has recently listed the most pirated films of 2011. According to the TorrentFreak list, the most downloaded (pirated) movie that was released last year was Fast Five, the fifth installment in the Fast and The Furious series of movies. The movie, which stars Paul Walker and Vin Diesel (returning to the franchise after appearing in just the first movie), posted more than nine million downloads over the year. Following Fast Five, the second most downloaded movie was The Hangover II. Third place is Thor. Each movie saw eight million downloads. The other movies that are included in the top ten list are:

Source Code

I Am Number Four

Sucker Punch

127 Hours

Rango

The King’s Speech

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows 2

An interesting fact about the list is that the movies that occupied numbers two through five in terms of box office receipts (the movies that earned the most money) – Transformers: Dark of The Moon, Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Kung Fu Panda 2 and Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 – were not in the list of the most downloaded movies. The four movies earned a combined 3.4 billion dollars globally last year.

Another interesting trend is that the total volume of downloads for 2011 is lower than the downloads tracked for 2010. The total download volume tracked for 2010 was 92 million. Only 72 million was tracked for 2011. The trend was also seen in the number of television shows that were downloaded last year.

Especially huge, block-busting, highly anticipated films. 2012 will have no shortage of these types of releases. If the movie industry has been down at all in the past few years, there is a good chance 2012 will help to bring it right back. There will be many, many movies released that will be looked forward to with great anticipation. Here are 5 that we’re sure will break the bank.

The Dark Knight Rises

This is the first no-brainer on our list. The Dark Knight grossed over 530 million dollars domestically, and was critically acclaimed to boot. Having the soon-to-be-dead Heath Ledger reinvent the classic character of Joker and get nominated for an Oscar really put The Dark Knight over the top. So when Director Christopher Nolan began work on Rises, the hype began in earnest. I would say that The Dark Knight Rises will be the highest grossing film of 2012, and it might, but take a look at what else we have coming.

The Hobbit

Yea. The Hobbit could become the biggest film of 2012. After all, it is the prequel to The Lord Of the Rings, which was the biggest thing in the history of man. Most of the major players are back for this, which will be broken into two movies. So look for it to be the major player of 2013 as well. For those who don’t know, The Hobbit will follow Bilbo Baggins on his own quest alluded to in LotR. With Oscar winner Peter Jackson at the helm, this is sure to be a blockbuster.

Prometheus

It’s entirely possible that this movie could be a bust as well as a boom. Currently, lots of rumors surround this Ridley Scott film. One rumor is that this is a loose Alien prequel. If this turns out to be true, and Scott is able to capture any of the old Alien magic, Prometheus could be big. After all, Scott has had huge movies in the past. Maybe this is the one to bring him back to form and show up at the box office in 2012.

Django Unchained

Quentin Tarantino returns in 2012 with his new movie Django Unchained about a former slave out to rescue his wife from a ruthless plantation owner. Tarantino has many big names to help him make big in 2012 including Leonardo DiCaprio, Sam Jackson, Kurt Russell, and Jamie Foxx to name just a few. With the success of his last movie, Inglourious Basterds, Quentin looks to continue to ride high. I for one, thing that Basterds was one of his top movies, and look forward to see what he can do with such an ensemble cast.

Breaking Dawn Part 2

There is nothing at all redeeming about these movies. They are trash, scum, garbage. Most sane people despise them and their minions of brain-washed junkie fans. But the fact remains; stupid girls and their ugly mothers will flock in droves to see this shit pile again and again and again. For that reason alone, this Twilight crap is a sure fire blockbuster in 2012. Prove us wrong and stay away.

JJ Abrams just came from the explosive new Mission Impossible sequel – Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. But even with the new Mission Impossible still being shown in theaters worldwide, Abrams is already hard at work preparing for the Star Trek sequel.

Abrams is notorious for being quite secretive about any of the projects that involve him so it’s not a surprise that he is playing his cards close to his chest for the Star Trek sequel. But even with such strong resolve not to reveal anything, Abrams is still providing some very interesting information – one that is just enough to whet the appetites of Star Trek fans and science fiction sons.

First, Abrams said that the script for the sequel is ready. The writing team is composed of Damon Lindelof, Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman. The sets are also being put up, and by next month, the director—known for being an exacting perfectionist—will be ready to shoot. He said the sequel will have several improvements from the first: ”I’m hoping that as we do the next one, all the mistakes that I’ve made that I’ve hopefully learned from, I can bring to this one and hope make it better.”

Though Abrams is a big fan of the IMAX format (he says it’s his favorite) he did say that they will start filing in 2-d before doing a high end conversion. With the film’s generous production timeline, he and his team will have a lot of time to tweak both the content and the format to meet his high personal standards.

A few weeks ago, it was announced that Sony got the rights to make a movie out of Walter Isaacson’s official biography on Steve Jobs. The latest news on the Steve Jobs biopic is that Aaron Sorkin, the scriptwriter who wrote the award-winning The Social Network is being offered the project.

Sorkin is reportedly very interested in the project and “strongly considering” the project. Sorkin revealed that he is still thinking about the project and considering a lot of factors. He said the movie is going to be big and acknowledges – quite humbly – that the movie will be an awesome one regardless of the writer who eventually bags the project.

Sorkin’s optimism about how successful and great the proposed Jobs biopic will be is quite justified. In just six days after the release of “Steve Jobs: The Exclusive Biography”, more than 379,000 copies of the book were sold – and that’s just in the United States.

Sorkin is a great choice as the scriptwriter for the Jobs. He was instrumental in the success of The Social Network, which would spiritually be in the same vein as Jobs’ movie – a biopic about a man deeply involved in technology. But more than that, Sorkin does have a personal connection with Jobs. Sorkin has actually spoken with Jobs a number of times and at one point he was supposed to write a script for Jobs’ wildly successfully 3D animation outfit, Pixar.

Whatever happens to the project, it is almost sure that it is going to be one of the most hotly anticipated movies to be release in the future.

Tarsem Singh, who is known for his fantastical visuals, is preparing to ready his next project, Killing on Carnival Row. This is going to be Singh’s new project after his new take on Snow White, Mirror Mirror.

Killing on Carnival Row is a fantasy movie with the script written by Travis Beacham. The script was bought about six years ago by the producing tandem of Arnold and Anne Kopelson. In fact, Killing on Carnival Row is Beacham’s first sold script. He will go on to write the scripts for the Clash of The Titans remake, Guillermo del Toro’s much anticipated Pacific Rim, the planned remake of Black Hole and the reimagined 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.

Killing on Carnival Row is a dark fantasy thriller set in a city called Burgue. One side of the city is populated by seal-like creatures, while the other side is Carnival Row, which is a ghetto that houses the disnfranchised winged fairies. The movie deals with the investigation into a murder and an unknown antagonist who is killing the residents of Carnival Row one by one.

Singh’s commitment to Killing on Carnival Row, which is expected to be released on June 2012, is definite proof that the director is pushing his output to quite a prolific level. Previously, it took him years to put a movie out — The Cell in 2000 and then The Fall in 2006. He’s pushing more movies now though. Aside from Mirror, Mirror, he is also coming out with a 3D Greek mythology movie. Singh himself has indicated that he wants to make one movie a year.

Charlie Sheen is a tough act to follow. As a matter of fact, it’s likely you didn’t even read that sentence past the words “Charlie Sheen,” as it’s so easy to get lost in the examination (or morbid curiosity?) of that American treasure’s infamous “private” life. However, one man has decided that he is willing to step up to the plate and fill Charlie Sheen’s shoes by replacing his character on the show made famous by none other than Charlie Sheen: Two and a Half Men So who is this brave (and possibly crazy) soul? None other than Ashton Kutcher – America’s favorite cougar-lover, Don Juan, and breaker of cougar heart. It seems that Ashton’s private life may be just as fascinating as Charlie’s (okay, not quite), but in its own special way. So, is Ashton qualified to replace Charlie Sheen, or will Ashton flop with 2 ½ Men? Here are some thoughts:

Season premier. The start of the season looked really good for Mr. Kutcher and company, garnishing almost twenty-nine million viewers – a record high for the television series. Only the previous year, with Charlie Sheen sitting at the helm , the show attracted only about sixteen million viewers for the season premier. From the get-go, it looked like Kutcher would be a shoe-in.

The slump. In spite of the record breaking season premier episode, the ratings for Two and a Half Men have slowly declined after each episode. Just a month after the season’s first episode, viewer numbers have slipped to almost half of the original showing, at about seventeen million. However, producers remain confident that the slump will balance out (even if Kutcher seems a little worried), citing some serious competition with NBC’s showing of the NFL match in the same time slot.

Today. Two and a Half Men remains to be the highest rated television series in America today, and Kutcher’s cast mates seem supportive and optimistic. Conchata Ferrell, who plays the tell-it-like-it-is housekeeper, has even been quoted as saying that Ashton Kutcher “came along and saved” the television series, which was in dire straits after its beloved warlock, Charlie Sheen, was fired.

Will Ashton flop with Two and a Half Men? Only time will tell. But until then, it is sure to be an enjoyable topic of discussion. It seems that Charlie Sheen has left quite a legacy, and quite a huge gaping hole to fill . . . and everyone is lining up to see how this ship is going to either go down or stay afloat. Stay tuned.

Christopher Reeve achieved worldwide stardom when he played the title role in Superman at the age of 25. Prior to this he had had roles in college plays and then at the renowned Julliard College. Casting directors has previously rejected Reeve three times for the Superman role before the casting director pleaded with the director who eventually gave in. Following a meeting between Reeve, the director and the producer, Reeve was sent a 300 page script. He then went for a screen test after which he was offered the role. The film grossed over $300 million and Reeve received positive reviews. He went onto star in a further 3 Superman sequels and others include Somewhere in Time with Jane Seymour which he considered to be his best film and Street Smart for which he received his first Academy Award nomination. Sadly, following a riding accident, he was made a quadriplegic and after many infections, died in October 2004.

Having previously acted in the BBC’s David Copperfield and the film, The Tailor of Panama, Daniel Radcliffe was picked from obscurity to play the title role in the Harry Potter films. After being asked, his parents did not tell Radcliffe about the audition as it required filming in Los Angeles, which they were unhappy with. It was at the director’s request that his parents relented and after further auditions, he was offered the part. Radcliffe went onto star in the remaining 7 films and has also had success in the West End with Equus and on Broadway in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Due to be released in 2012, The Women is Black is Daniel’s first film project since the Potter series. It was reported in 2010 that Radcliffe’s personal fortune is estimated at £28.5 million, which makes him richer than both Princes Williams and Harry!

Along with Daniel Radcliffe, the Harry Potter series also shot Hermionie’s Emma Watson to fame. Having previously only acted in local Stagecoach productions, in a 2007 interview with Parade magazine she said she had no idea of the scale of the films and if she had then she would have been overwhelmed. After her parents divorce when she was five, Watson moved from Paris where she was born to Oxfordshire with her mother and younger brother. Non Potter works have included a BBC adaptation of Noel Stretford’s Ballet Shoes and the voice over for Princess Pea in the animated The Tale of Despereaux. Aside from the acting world, Emma has been the face of Burberry and Lancôme and collaborated with fair trade fashion label, People Tree to design pieces for their clothing line.

Prior to making her breakthrough in Slumdog Millionaire, Freida Pinto had presented a travel show for the Zee International Asia Pacific channel and featured in advertising campaigns such as Vodaphone India and Wrigley’s. Pinto auditioned for Slumdog Millionaire and after being short-listed, Danny Boyle selected her to play Latika, the love interest of Jamal. From this, Pinto was nominated for a BAFTA and MTV movie award and won the Screen Actors Guild for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. From this she has gone on to co-star with Antonio Banderas, Naomi Watts and Anthony Hopkins in Woody Allen’s You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, the 2011 Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Black Gold.

Robert Pattinson had a successful start to his modelling career at the age of 12, but within four years the work had already started to decline. Following this he had minor roles for television and film, although his scenes in Vanity Fair were later deleted, but this eventually led to a successful role as Cedric Diggory in the film Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. From here he landed the lead role of Edward Cullen in the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer and after the release of the first film, was propelled into stardom. For this role he was nominated and won many awards including Teen Choice Award for Choice Hottie and MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss. He has followed this success with presenting the 81st Academy Awards, staring in Water for Elephants with Reece Witherspoon and is due to appear with Uma Thurman in a film adaptation of Bel Ami.

Probably all manner of geeks will be delighted to know that a Dr. Who film is currently being planned for release in a few years’ time. The planned movie will be directed by the director of the last four Harry Potter movies, David Yates.

According to Yates he will jump on board not just as a director but also as one of the creative forces that will develop the film from the conception stage onwards. Asked about his plans for the Dr. Who film, Yates shared that it will be a completely new Dr. Who film and will not be related at all to the smash hit Dr. Who series that began again 2005. This means no Eccleston, Tennant or Smith Dr. Who characters. The movie will still be developed by Worldwide Productions, the same people who developed the new Dr. Who series.

Another implication of what Yates revealed is that Dr. Who series writers Russell T. Davies and Steven Moffatt will not be involved in the development of the Dr. Who movie. This may get some very mixed reactions from fans. While some may welcome another fresh take on the Dr. Who mythos, others may scoff at the non-involvement of Davies and Moffatt – especially the latter, who has written some of the most memorable episodes in the series.

Yates said he and his team are currently looking for writers who will get involved in the project. One of the most important things to him, he shared, is to make sure that there is a definite “British sensibility” to the script and to the movie.

Expect to see the Dr. Who movie in about three years.

In mid November of 2011, the world was shocked (or not so much) when high profile couple Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher announced their break up. It’s hard to say if the shock was greater than that of the couple’s joining six years prior, as Demi is fifteen years older than Ashton. Many people speculated the relationship was just a fling – a rebound after Moore’s split from long-time husband Bruce Willis – but Moore and Kutcher seemed determined to prove the world wrong by making things official and marrying.

The six years of seemingly wedded bliss that followed changed the climate of the ever so critical public, which came to embrace the romantic idea of the older woman and the younger man. Kutcher fueled the media fanfare by proudly announcing, “Call me Mr. Moore” So what went wrong? Apparently, things weren’t as perfect in reality as they were in fantasy land. After the couple went public with their split, the ugly truth began to surface: Kutcher’s infidelity, Moore’s insecurity, and years of a slow disintegration of the relationship. Now Moore – forty-nine years old – is once again single and free – responsible for her own home, family, and installment loans. So what’s next for Demi Moore? Here’s the latest.

Love life. While it’s true that Moore did her best to stay out of the limelight following the break up and divorce announcement, lately she has been seen out and about with a new mystery man. What’s more is that friends report she seems a lot happier and more at peace than she was before. Perhaps Moore has already moved on?

Family life. As a mother of three girls, there’s no doubt that Moore has plenty on her plate to distract her from this tough time. Her youngest daughter (from former marriage to Bruce Willis), Tallulah Belle Willis, just celebrated her 17th birthday at the debutante coming out party in Paris. Moore was nowhere to be seen, but reports place her at her home . . . with Mr. Mystery Man.

Career. On Novermber 30, Moore was spotted at a fashion shoot – the first she has emerged from her self-imposed isolation to return to work since the break up. As far as her career goes, there are no rumored movie plans in the near future, but Moore will be the feature model for designer Ann Taylor’s holiday 2011 collection.

It’s hard to say exactly what is next for Demi Moore. Most likely, the best thing she can do is grieve the end of the relationship however she needs to, and for however long it takes. Moore made it clear, though, that she is not defeated: “As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.”

The 3 Funniest Wild West Movies

The genre of Wild West films usually conjures thoughts of gritty, hard-drinking men facing off against fierce villains, often at ridiculous odds, while saving the damsel in distress and her innocent townspeople. It is that very conceit that serves as fertile ground for comedy.
John Wayne, James Coburn, and many other traditional cowboy types have starred in at least one Wild West comedy, but they often fail. It’s usually the ordinary guys, or the professional comics, who shine in movies that combine cowboys and comedy.

Here are three of the best:

3: The Frisco Kid (1979)

The Frisco Kid, featuring Gene Wilder and Harrison Ford, delivers nearly every social morsel that feeds good comedy. Wilder stars as a newly ordained rabbi dispatched to San Francisco. His character not only provides fodder for comedic commentary on both stereotyping and anti-Semitism, but he also gives us plenty of laughs playing the innocent, naïve newcomer to the Wild West who is taken advantage of at every turn. Ford’s spot-on exasperation and reluctant guidance of the wet-behind-the-ears Wilder is supremely comical and relatable to any viewer.

2: City Slickers (1991)

Unlike The Frisco Kid, City Slickers is hardly a social comedy. It’s pure, hilarious farce. Billy Crystal is the ultimate fish out of water as one of the titular characters who is grudgingly lassoed into an immersive vacation as a ranch hand on a round-up. The film exploits every comedic aspect of a city-mouse-meets-country-mouse story, and it does so without being forced or contrived. Crystal, in his best role outside of When Harry Met Sally, is aided by two of the funniest supporting characters in film history. And Jack Palance, playing a cowboy who makes the Marlboro Man look like a 10-year-old girl, nearly steals the show.

1. Blazing Saddles (1974)

Forget great comedies of the Wild West genre. Blazing Saddles is one of the greatest comedies of all time. It combines social parody, farce, crudeness, and even silly musical numbers to create non-stop laughs for any movie lover. While entertaining its audience with some of the lowest of lowbrow humor and history’s most hysterical one-liners, Blazing Saddles whittles away at racism and corruption with some of the most biting and hilarious satire ever committed to celluloid. The film, starring Cleavon Little and Gene Wilder, pokes fun at the absurdity of humanity’s vices and will make you laugh until you cry while doing so.

Everyone has seen Hollywood’s treatment of Las Vegas, the mega-millionaire, tight-fisted casino owners facing off against the lovable bandits. The silver screen isn’t the only place where wild crimes happen—these are three casino heists are so sensational, you won’t be able to believe they really happened.

12 Years on the Run - Heather Tallchief and Roberto Solis

A regular Bonnie and Clyde pair, the story of Heather Tallchief and Roberto Solis puts a modern spin on things. In September of 2005, Heather Tallchief turned herself in after almost twelve years on the run from the law. The trouble had started in October of 1993, when Tallchief, a new driver for the Loomis armored truck company, took off in the truck she was supposed to be protecting. In it, more than $2.5 million belonging to Circus Circus, a hotel-casino in Las Vegas.

While her co-workers were in the casino collecting more money, Tallchief drove away, to meet up with her lover, Roberto Solis, an ex-con who had been recently released from prison after serving 16 years for murdering a guard during a 1969 robbery. As it turns out, if it hadn’t been for Solis, Tallchief would never have been driving the truck. It was he who encouraged her to apply for the job at Loomis.

A jury agreed that Tallchief had been manipulated into the crime, and she served a 5 year sentence. Solis, who abandoned Tallchief not long after the heist, is still at large, living off the casino “winnings.”

Eudaemonic Forces – The Eudaemons

Maybe the guys working the roulette wheels in the casinos of Las Vegas first thought this group of young gamblers were uncannily lucky, or maybe they figured it was some kind of supernatural power. Regardless of the reason, the ball almost always seemed to fall in their favor.

In the late 1970s, a small group calling themselves the Eudaemons, headed by two physics students from UC Santa Cruz, J. Doyne Farmer and Norman Packard, set about to beat the roulette, with the lofty goal of donating the proceeds from their casino gambling to fund scientific research.

The group successfully developed a small computer that could be fit inside a shoe and used to predict which quadrant of the roulette wheel the ball would land in. They managed to make about $10,000 before technical problems with the device (a few of the group members were shocked or burned by the electronics equipment) forced them to retire. Both Farmer and Packard went on to be successful. Versions of their device are still used today, and are widely considered to be a legal way to play, though it may get you banned from a casino.

Don’t Leave the Front Door Open – Bill Brennan

Bill Brennan was an unassuming character, just another cashier working at a now-demolished but once-major casino. So what landed this average joe on both the front page of America’s newspapers, and a spot on the FBI’s list of most wanted felons?

The answer is simple—in fact, one of the simplest in the history of Las Vegas. The young man walked off with a half a million dollars of the casino’s money. Literally. One afternoon, he simply packed a bag brimming with money and casino scrip, and walked out past the guards before anyone realized what had happened. The ease of the crime’s execution was one of the largest embarrassment for a Las Vegas casino in current history. Amazingly, the whereabouts of the thief remain unknown.

It was big news because Assassin’s Creed is one of the hottest video game properties right now and it is a property that has been hotly fought over by various movie studios – among them, Dreamworks, Universal and Warner Bros. Sony getting the rights is big news indeed.

But more than the acquisition of a hot property, Hollywood is all abuzz because the terms of the agreement is just coming to light, and it’s one that Hollywood insiders are not comfortable with, to say the least.

According to the agreement between Ubisoft and Sony, the latter is giving Ubisoft a level of control over the film that has not yet been seen in other agreements. Ubisoft has approving authority over the film’s budget, the principal cast, the final script and even the release date. This level of control is unheard of, Hollywood insiders even mentioned that even top tier directors are not given the level of control Ubisoft was given. A number of studios that have showed interest in the Assassin’s Creed property backed off when it found out the demands Ubisoft wanted for the deal. Only Sony agreed to the stipulations set by the gaming company, hence it got the deal to make the Assassin’s Creed movie.

The big question is will this set a precedent for other companies that are sitting on a much-desired property that Hollywood wants to turn into a movie?

It’s a testament to the popularity of film and of people’s love for cinema. Name the genre of film that you love and you’re sure to find a blog that caters specifically to it. For example, there are a great number of blogs that focus on horror movies – and they can get very specific. You’ll get blogs that exclusively cover zombie movies, Asian horror movies, European horror movies or slasher films. There’s just so many blogs out there that choosing one can be quite daunting. This gets doubly problematic if you’re the one who’s operating a film blog.

With the huge number of blogs dedicated to film or publish film-related articles, it is difficult to get noticed in the mad competition for user attention. What can you do to make your blog noticed? You could be producing really top quality articles and blog posts but if no one is reading it then it is all a waste of time. One way you can make sure that people discover your blog is by enrolling it in blog directories. These sites offer a convenient way for internet users to look for sites that cater to their interests or a topic that they like. One of the best blog directories you can use is blogsearchengine.com, which was just recently relaunched.

Using blogsearchengine.com is very easy. All you need to do is to sign up for a membership, which costs $14.99. After signing up, you can now submit your blog details, which will be reviewed. Your blog will then be featured in the blogsearchengine web site. You can further upgrade your membership to Silver, Gold or Platinum plans, which offer its own level of benefits.

If you had to choose a film to serve as the official movie of the current race for the Republican Presidential nomination, it would have to be Atlas Shrugged, which was based on the Ayn Rand novel.

It seems every time you turn around the nine candidates trying to secure the party’s nomination are attempting to out-conservative each other. No matter the issue – from immigration to taxes to health care – the contenders seem to be pushing the envelope further and further to the right to appeal to an ultra-conservative base of voters.

Ayn Rand was an ideologue who used her pen to craft a story that embodied her unbending philosophy of self-reliance, free-market capitalism and a laissez-faire government apparatus. The movie adaptation of her book was heralded by conservative voices as a must-see for any true Republican voter. However, when it was released earlier this year, Atlas Shrugged hit movie theaters with a thud.

Atlas Shrugged never made it to a full-theater release and at the height of its run showed in less than 500 theaters. As a result, it grossed only about $5 million – a fraction of the costs associated with the movie’s production. Two sequels were in the works, but it remains unclear whether they will actually be made now.

Without a doubt, Ron Paul, a 12-time Congressman, is the most closely associated with Ayn Rand’s philosophy. As a Libertarian, Paul shares many of the hands-off attitudes Ayn Rand had toward government in relation to issues of business and industry. It’s not hard to imagine half the people who turned out for Atlas Shrugged at a movie theater wearing a Ron Paul shirt.

However, while Paul considers Ayn Rand a great influence he also distances himself in interviews from some of her more militaristic viewpoints. These attitudes toward homosexuals and certain foreign entities are much more in line with Michelle Bachman and Rick Perry’s respective stances on domestic and foreign relations, particularly regarding social issues.

In the end, it is Ron Paul who is stuck with the specter of Ayn Rand. And with approval polls hovering around 1 percent for the Texas Libertarian, it does appear he is facing challenges similar to those felt by the producers of Atlas Shrugged.

Sci-fi guns will always remain the fascinating childhood attractions for every kid, and they continue to remain the same even within the mind of a growing person.

The credit for the increasing popularity of the sci-fi guns actually goes to the sci-fi movies, where we first see such guns. The firepower of the guns shown in the sci-fi movie is what actually fascinated the children as well as the growing adults. The super powerful fire of a sci-fi movie gun can deteriorate any kind of bad character or villains.

Such scenes in the sci-fi movie leave an impression on the kid’s mind and they then need one for themselves. As soon as any sci-fi movie is released the replicas of the guns used in the movie is also released. Both the guns and the movies play a major role in publicizing and promoting each other.

Here we have created an inventory of the top 10 sci-fi movie guns that have fascinated the mind of kids and adults alike over the decades.

9. Star Wars – Han Solo DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistol

There is nothing in this out-of-the-world gun that cannot be loved. The design is based upon the German Mauser and gives an impression of something that even being small is effective.

8. Robocop – Auto-9

This gun, owned by the supercop has been replicated extensively as a toy and also as an Airsoft. Even though Robocop has several other weapons with him, but Auto-9 is the leading weapon he uses to deliver justice. It is also one of the most sophisticated looking of all the weapons.

7. Judge Dredd – Lawgiver

This is the gun owned by one of the most brutal, but yet coolest sci-fi characters. An equally cruel firearm, this gun accompanies Judge Dredd through his night expeditions when he is busy unleashing his punishments. The gun fires different types of rounds – explosive shells, incendiary rounds and ricochet bullets and much more.

6. The Fifth Element – Zorg ZF-1 Pod Weapon

The Zorg ZF-1 Pod Weapon is used by the deceitful Jean Baptiste Zorg in The Fifth Element. This weapon is capable of delivering different lethal shots that can kill, wound or even cause the discharge of bowel contents from the victim. A unique feature in the gun is the “replay” feature, where the fired round can trace the previous target even when facing in another direction.

5. Hellboy – Samaritan

This is perhaps the holiest of all the weapons. It is said to be made from church bells, while the handle is made using wood from the crucifix. Hellboy is regularly found pounding the bad ones with the different types of ammunitions such as garlic shavings and holy water shells.

4. Men In Black – The Noisy Cricket

The Noisy Cricket is simply among the funniest weapons to be found ever in sci-fi movies. The scene cannot be forgotten when Agent J has his smile flying away when he fired this tiny gun, almost losing his arm and body. This gun looks something like a handheld metal syringe, but it delivers the lethal power of a C4 block.

3. Ghostbusters – Proton Pack

The Proton Pack is made by the celebrated Dr. Egon Spengler. This weapon fires particle beams that can bring down the unnatural entities.

2. Star Wars – Jawa Blaster

The Jawa Blaster is made from a British Enfield rifle, having a grenade launcher fixed crudely to its barrel. The crude looks of the gun clearly reflect the typical scavenging nature of the Jawa, giving a kind of history and depth to their character.

1. Aliens – M41A Pulse Rifle

An iconic weapon on the screen, the M41A Pulse Rifle is simply the most popular weapon in sci-fi movies. It can deliver 99 shots of 10mm rounds that can pierce armor, making it the most lethal of all the double-handed weapons used in movies.

What is a Superhero? Is it a man or a fictional character? Does it always come from any comic book? How is it possible for a man to fly? All these questions are reasonable but if you actually want to enjoy a superhero movie you need to skip such questions from your mind.

The superhero movies are usually by most of the kids as they don’t have such questions in their minds while watching one. They just enjoy the power and strength of the superheroes. They are least bothered, that the superhero in the movie is a good guy or a bad one.

Superhero movie is all about fulfilling the fantasy of a child; however not all the superhero movies are the best. Some of such movies are actually pathetic and worst to watch.

If taken technically, there are many things to be considered when superhero movies are to be made. The production house has to give a green light, the copyrights have to be checked, a good script has to be developed and the final product should be able to cater to a wider market. However, not all superhero movies are able to do as well as others.

Here is a list of the top 5 superhero movies that should never have been made:

5. Thor

Thor was poised to be the most royal characters as per Marvel, but there was no response to this movie that could be called awesome. As per some analysts, Thor received the smallest opening for any Marvel movie post release of Daredevil and Spider Man.

There were many wrong things in Thor, with the screenplay being scattered here and there. The direction was just something normal. And, what is to be the characteristic of a superhero movie, Thor lacked enough amount of action.

4. Green Hornet

From the moment Green Hornet received the green light, it was clear that something was wrong with this superhero movie. There is no doubt that Seth Rogen is respected for his scripts, but the Green Hornet was a different thing. Green Hornet was a superhero from the 60s and 70s and creating him again in the form of Seth Rogen was something of a horrible idea.

3. Daredevil/Elecktra

Daredevil was released way back in 2003, and Elecktra dies in the movie within the first fifteen minutes. Daredevil then takes it to himself to find her killers. The move had some great reviews, but it was the spin-off of the movie, Elecktra that made it all wrong. After she is killed, Elecktra gets revived at the hands of a blind martial arts expert.

The movie proved to be a total failure. While the critics ignored it, it was hated by the audience and emerged on the list of the worst movies of the year 2005.

2. Your Pet Hate

When it is about superhero movies, everyone have their pet hates. While some people hate Superman Returns, others hate Spider Man 3. While Superman Returns is hated for the type of ice-cream that it was turned into by Bryan Singer, Spider Man 3 is said to have lots of characters. Some people also hate the Fantastic Four or Captain America for other reasons.

1. Batman and Robin

Batman and Robin is the one movie that made a producer close the door to every director, scriptwriter or fanboy who sought to make some superhero movie. This movie had some big names – George Clooney, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Chris O’Donnell. The movie was a failure at different levels. It was a toyistic movie, where the attention was more on the placement of the product rather than on the script. After this movie, it became impossible for anyone to get a green light for a superhero movie, until it was Marvel that came up with its Spider Man series that gave a reboot to the character.

Whether the city appears in a starring role or merely as a supporting player, one thing is certain: Las Vegas always steals the show.

1. Viva Las Vegas (1964)

The chemistry between Elvis and Ann-Margaret is even hotter than the Nevada desert. This popcorn musical gave Vegas its signature theme song and it gives us a view of a Vegas that’s gone – but not forgotten.

watch?v=54bTiIV0ZD4

2. Bugsy (1991)

Mobster Bugsy Siegel (Warren Beatty) is a bad man with a big dream. He gambles on the Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel becoming a brilliant success and loses. Snappy period dialog and costumes enliven this look at the birth of Sin City.

watch?v=Bs296PVx01E

3. Casino (1995)

Yet another film about the mafia’s ties to Las Vegas, this film is not feel-good fare. Despite a healthy dose of violence, the explanation about the inner workings of the casino system in the first half is more than worth the price of admission.

watch?v=aIPmu6bYZOs

4. Ocean’s 11 (2001)

This remake of the 1960 classic manages to be even more cool, hip and classy than the Rat Pack original. Danny Ocean (George Clooney) is out for revenge. He assembles a team of criminals to pull off the crime of the century – a $150 million casino heist. The planning scene is priceless.

watch?v=DLDFOzB2iHc

5. The Cooler (2003)

Is bad luck contagious? In Las Vegas, the casinos certainly hope it is. Bernie Lootz (William H. Macy) makes his living “cooling” gamblers on winning streaks with his bad luck until he finds himself lucky in love – and everyone in Vegas knows how long that lasts.

watch?v=p3YGswgGA9s

6. Swingers (1996)

Trent (Vince Vaughn) exudes classic Rat Pack-era Las Vegas cool even during the scenes filmed in Los Angeles. His classic tagline “You’re money, baby!” could be applied to Vegas as well. Except Vegas knows it.

watch?v=vvKeDr3k7n0

7. Honeymoon in Vegas (1992)

Jack Singer (Nicholas Cage) is a man who’s afraid to marry his fiancé – until he loses her in a poker game with a professional gambler. The climactic scene features a team of skydiving Elvis impersonators. What’s not to like?

watch?v=dLTgTS1k-dk

8. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)

Johnny Depp stars as Hunter S. Thompson in this psychedelic adaptation of Thompson’s novel/memoir of a drug- and alcohol-fuelled adventure in the city that never sleeps. Not for the faint of heart, this film is a cautionary tale about what not do in Vegas. Or anywhere else, for that matter.

watch?v=uOmtVFQ3WF8

9. The Hangover (2009)

Four friends go to a stag party in Las Vegas. What could go wrong? The answer: Everything that possibly can, including run-ins with a tiger and Mike Tyson. This raunchy comedy is unbelievable and over-the-top – just like Vegas.

watch?v=bpOdCWaTsIk

10. Showgirls (1995)

No list would be complete without what may be the worst Vegas movie ever made. Undeniably bad, unintentionally funny, this foul frolic does give the viewer an inside look at some of the more popular gentlemen’s clubs of the era.

watch?v=Gt1nfJH2svQ

John reviews Las vegas hotels and writes about Sin City for Las Vegas Travel.

Halloween is just around the corner and you’re probably already preparing for your Halloween parties. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and ever since I was in college, I’ve made it a point to have a horror movie marathon on October 31. In fact, it has become somewhat of a tradition in my home that my old friends eagerly anticipate our annual horror movie fest.

One reason why my friends love the horror movie marathons I host is the diversity I provide them. They’re sure to watch a movie they haven’t seen before and not the tired old Hollywood horror movies that everyone knows about.

If you want to host your own horror movie marathon and want to give your friends a real movie treat, why don’t you get some of these great horror films that were made in Europe. They probably haven’t heard anything about these movies, which will make it a scarier experience for them.

Dead Snow

Zombies are the new vampires. The zombie genre has become quite popular these days so if you want to give your friends an extra special treat, give them a movie that’s got zombies that come from left field. And nothing gives you that feeling than Dead Snow. So what does this movie offer that other zombie movies don’t? Two words – Nazi zombies. It doesn’t get more left field than that.

Rec

Rec has gained popularity because it was remade into that utterly disappointing Hollywood movie Quarantine. I’ve always maintained that if you want the best entertainment, go to the source, and Rec delivers like only the original can. Do check out the sequel, Rec 2 as well for more of the same horror goodness. The Rec series has been so successful that two more Rec movies are going to be released.

Haute Tension

Forget American slasher movies, this French horror movie defines the genre for the new century. Merciless, gory, and absolutely serious, Haute Tension will dfrive to the edge of your seat with your hand firmly clasped on your mouth.

Mum and Dad

Talk of British horror the most common peg would be the old Hammer Horror films from thirty to forty years ago. But Mum and Dad is British horror turned on its ear. It is a deeply disturbing movie that evokes the twisted family tropes used in movies like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre or The Hills Have Eyes but with a twist that only makes this horror subgenre all the more frightful.

Sauna

Sauna is a little known Finnish film that elevates horror to a philosophical discussion of evil, sin and retribution. Don’t expect gore or any overtly frightening scenes here. This is a quiet horror movie, if there ever is such a creature. But what it does successfully is to creep under your skin. This is a very unsettling movie that provokes deep questions about morality.

George Romero is the acknowledged master of the zombie movie. Almost all of his Living Dead series are hits both in the box office and critically. His last zombie movie, Island of The Dead, was not as well received as the previous installments but this is not stopping Romero from taking another stab at the zombie genre.

The director has revealed that he has optioned the novel The Zombie Autopsies, which was written by Harvard psychologist Steven Scholzman. The novel follows the usual zombie premise we’ve come to know, and yes, love – a zombie apocalypse. But The Zombie Autopsies bring a new element to the table, the story is told amidst an economic collapse because of the zombie hordes. The novel has also gained an almost infamous reputation for all of its medically accurate descriptions and scenes. Romero is banking on this medical accuracy as the jump off point for his movie. He said he wants it “to be perfectly accurate, almost shockingly.” If that’s a quote that won’t spin zombie fans into a frenzy, I don’t know what will.

Romero has been delving more and more into increasingly shocking gory scenes. If you’ve seen Night of The Living Dead (which, by the way, is now part of the pubic domain so you can download it freely), the gore was quite tame compared to today’s standards. The gore increased with each movie until probably reached the pinnacle with Diary of The Dead, Romero’s attempt at “found footage” horror. It was a success and brought Romero’s movies to the 21st century level of blood and shock scenes. It will be interesting to see how he plans to treat The Zombie Autopsies. If we’re to base it on The Crazies, a movie he executive produced, prepare for a gorefest.

Director George Sluizer has plans to enlist Joaquin Phoenix to help finish the last movie brother River Phoenix was working on before his untimely death in 1993.

When he died of drug-related heart failure, River Phoenix was working on a drama called “Dark Blood” for Sluizer. It tells the story of a desert hermit living near a nuclear testing site waiting for the world to end. When a Hollywood couple on a driving honeymoon breaks down nearby, Phoenix’s character “Boy” takes them prisoner because he desires the woman and wants to create a better world with her, according to an IMDB summary.

Sluizer – who directed the Jeff Bridges and Kiefer Sutherland psychological thriller “The Vanishing” – told The Hollywood Reporter he still has the original film footage from “Dark Blood” and has re-edited it. Sluizer said he believes with some voice over work he can deliver a final version to be released next year.

He plans on asking River Phoenix’s brother Joaquin to assist. “The voices of both brothers are very much alike,” Sluizer, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Before his death at 23, River Phoenix had roles in 24 movies. In honor of his return to the silver screen, here’s a list of favorite performances:

Stand By Me: In many people’s minds, Phoenix’s performance as the tough, yet vulnerable, Chris chambers was his best ever. The 1986 drama told the story of a group of young boys who go on a journey to view the body of a missing child who had been hit by a train.

My Own Private Idaho: Starring opposite Keanu Reeves, Phoenix played Mike Waters in the 1991 movie directed by Gus Van Sant. The poignant drama tells the story of two Portland street hustlers who are best friends in a troubled relationship.

I Love You to Death: Phoenix plays Devo Nod, the young friend of a middle-aged woman who repeatedly tries to have her pizza shop owner husband killed due to his infidelity. The comedy starred Kevin Kline and Tracey Ullman.

The Mosquito Coast: In this Harrison Ford movie, Phoenix plays Charlie Fox, the son of an eccentric inventor who sells his house and moves his family to Central America to build an ice factory in the middle of the jungle.

Sneakers: Phoenix has a supporting role as Carl Arbogast in this light spy-thriller starring Robert Redford, Sidney Poitier and Dan Aykroyd.
