Planning a fishing trip in Winter? No Problem, our coast stays active through the Winter months and we see some good catching action.

King-fish have been on fire lately , as long as you can find clean water.

Our bottom bite is great with Red Snapper and Grouper coming in the boat on every trip, season closed , so it’s catch and release only.

Snapper and Flounder

A lot of our species are on a closed reg for a while, but there still trophies to be had. We will be looking for the pelagic migration of cobia to happen in a few months and then Mahi after that.

The heat of the summer is upon us with the catching action as well. King Mackerel has been our primary target for the past month. Limits of King-fish have been fairly consistent with live bait slow-trolling on near-shore wrecks and reefs. These fish are anywhere from 8 to 30lbs and give an lightning fast run of drag. Cobia have been better the last few weeks with some beast mixed in more frequently. Cobia are bulldogs when fought with med-heavy to heavy spinning rods. These fish keep at 33inches and easily can have a weight of 50lbs. Reef action has slowed a bit but there is always Red Snapper to catch and release. Mahi Mahi have went deeper then the previous month and have slowed to a few fish per All day trolling.

Hope to have you aboard the Fin Freak for your Summer offshore adventure!

Offshore fishing in Cape Canaveral this month has had a slow start with winds blowing hard out of the South and East. King-fish are still a solid bet when we can load our live wells full of menhaden . We are catching them from 14 to 22 miles out of Port Canaveral on the local wrecks and reefs with some bigger fish burning drag. Cobia, Cobia, Cobia Our last few trips have produced some good fish from 25-40 pounds. Mahi have been very scattered, we have a ton of weed mats in our area now and just waiting for the winds and current to throw them together. Amber-jacks and large red snapper are a safe bet in the 100ft plus region right now, great fun but we like to put fish in the box. Bigger Amber-jack are being caught from120-185. These fish are ranging from 60-80lbs and one heck of a fight. You have many options for Offshore Sport-fishing in Port Canaveral for May -August please discuss your quest with Captain Tim Altman. You can contact me at 321-631-FISH(3474) or visit http://www.finfreak.com for booking info.

Offshore sport-fishing out of Port Canaveral is heating up with the waters temperatures finally reaching 69-73 degrees. We will be targeting Mahi Mahi, and Wahoo on our trolling trips. The Spring migration of dolphin fish is starting to happen. Our Charter on 02/26/2011 we ended up with five Mahi caught and more were reported over the radio. March is typically good for Kingfish, although we haven’t seen any as of yet. The HOT topic right now is Cobia, we boated two yesterday with a few that broke off. Their Spring migration is in Full force come and get it while you can!

Cobia and Mahi aboard the Fin Freak

It’s getting to be that time of year when fishing out of Port Canaveral will be heating up. A lot of our species such as Kings, Mahi and Cobia are further South searching for warmer water. We long for the short time till they return. We are still having great catches of Seabass, Triggers and Red Snapper on our reef trips out of Port Canaveral. These fish won’t pull you in, but it’s hard to beat them as table fair.

If your looking for a good Tug and battle with a beast then the Amberjack won’t disappoint you. This trip requires a little longer trip due to how far these fish are right now. Either way we are here to Tailor trips to your catching preference.

Hope to see you aboard!

Cape Canaveral sport fishing in the Fall and Winter is a change from the slamin action in the summer. The seas are always an issue this time of year. The ocean is a constant changing organism, big swells equal nasty water. Our action off Cocoa beach is getting better this week with bluefish, bonita, and spanish mackeral chomping on the fall mullet run. Cobia are still around when the conditions favor. Our bottom action with snapper, seabass, triggers, and grouper is fair when the winds are slow. It’s harder fishing in the fall and winter , but we are up for the challenge. Small catches of Blackfin tuna, Mahi, and Wahoo are coming on our all day trolling trips. Come aboard the Fin freak for a hardcore deep Sea fishing adventure http://www.finfreak.com

As June ends we are still looking for the big numbers of Mahi. They have been very sporadic of the coast off Cocoa beach. Kings are being caught in good numbers , if you can find them. Cobia was smokin hot last week and will continue until the water warms to the 90′s. Amber Jacks and grouper are being caught on our deep trips. Come deep sea fishing on the Fin Freak this July, you wont be disappointed !

Cobia is the hot topic on the beaches and near shore wrecks. King Macks are our bread and butter and we have been having good sized limits on every trip. Just to point out how abundant these American reds are, our last trip 1 out of 6 red snapper that were caught was under 20 inches. They are taking over our reefs and ledges.
