]]>The majority of you already probably know that Square Enix and tri-Ace’s collaboration title, Infinite Undiscovery was released in North America yesterday. What you might not know, or have noticed is that on the back of Infinite Undiscovery’s instruction manual there’s an advert for Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope.
This isn’t really anything out of the ordinary, but the “ONLY ON XBOX 360” logo that’s printed on the back is. Ever since Star Ocean 4 was announced for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 fans have been hoping that the game would only be a time release exclusive; in a The Last Remnant fashion - hopefully this is still the case as other games such as Bioshock, Enchanted Arms and Lost Planet have housed this logo but still gone multi-platform.
Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope hasn’t been confirmed as a Xbox 360 exclusive, but it’s looking that way. We’ll keep you posted with all the latest news on the Star Ocean 4: The Last Remnant front.
]]>Square Enix recently announced that Dissidia: Final Fantasy would be hitting Japanese stores just in time for Christmas, on 18th December. Square Enix also announced that the game would be released in a bundle with the currently unreleased PSP-3000 model.
The PSP-3000 is basically just a PSP-2000 with added features such as a PS Home button, an anti-glare screen and a microphone. No word on whether or not the bundle will contain a special edition PSP (like many Square Enix and Sony bundles), however we’ll keep you posted.
]]>Just over a week ago Square Enix released a game play trailer of their upcoming PSP Action RPG, Dissidia: Final Fantasy. The trailer featured a fight between Final Fantasy III’s Onion Knight and Cloud of Darkness, in a similar fashion Square Enix have released another game play trailer featuring Tidus and Jecht - opposed to Onion Knight and Cloud of Darkness. Check it out below.
]]>Earlier today Square Enix unveiled a new trailer for their upcoming Xbox 360 exclusive, Infinite Undiscovery. The trailer contains a lot of new footage, and basically introduces a bunch of Infinite Undiscovery’s characters as well as showing some game play footage a little later towards the end of the trailer.

Chrono Trigger DS Shonen Jump Magazine Extract

]]>Square Enix recently unveiled the box art for their upcoming Nintendo DS remake of the SNES classic, Chrono Trigger.
It’s not much in the way of a change, in fact it’s pretty much identical to the one that we saw all those years ago. For those of you that don’t know, Chrono Trigger DS is heading for a North American release of the 25th November 2008.
]]>If you’re a regular reader at Final Fantasy Rebirth, then you might remember us reporting that a Final Fantasy XI clan attempted to defeat the Pandemonium Warden boss; but had to retire after eighteen hours of hardcore game play. In responce to this, Square Enix have released the following statement; basically saying that they acknowledge that the Notorious Monsters (Pandemonium Warden, Absolute Virtue and Jailer of Love) are too difficult to defeat - responding to the controversy, Square Enix have decided to reduce the “degree of difficulty” of these Notorious Monsters.
That’s definitely a kick in the nuts to anyone who wasted a day of their life playing the game, on the flip-side though; at least their actions have gone down in history!
]]>The past two weeks have seen considerable feedback from players regarding the amount of time required to combat the Pandemonium Warden, a recently implemented Notorious Monster (NM). Discussion has spread significantly throughout forums, and it has become apparent that this is indeed an issue of major unrest in the community.
We would like to assure players that the development and management teams place a high value on their feedback, and the issue has since been taken under serious consideration. Together with Absolute Virtue, it has been deemed that the combative techniques for weakening these NMs are too difficult. As a result, some players have engaged these enemies using unanticipated methods which led to extended battle times. It is by no means the desire of the development team to see players involved in encounters that require an excessive amount of time and effort to complete. It was for this reason that previous measures were put into practice which prohibited NMs from being held in battle for prolonged periods. In response to these events, we have determined that further alterations are required to prevent such battles from exceeding a certain predetermined length of time.
Included in the version update scheduled for early September will be modifications to the degree of difficulty of Pandemonium Warden (and associated pets), Absolute Virtue (and associated pets), and Jailer of Love. The aim of these changes is to create battles where a decisive outcome may be reached within a shorter period of time.
The development and management teams would like to take this opportunity to express their commitment to a healthy and wholesome game environment for players everywhere to enjoy, and to thank them for the continued feedback.
A new Dissidia: Final Fantasy video has surfaced online, the new video features in game footage of Final Fantasy III’s Onion Knight facing off against the game’s antagonist; Cloud Of Darkness. Apparently, this video was the video shown at Square Enix’s recent DKΣ3713 Party; and as far as I’m aware this is the first in the way of “real” Dissidia: Final Fantasy in game footage.
One of the things that I noticed about the video is the way that Onion Knight changes between his default, Ninja and White Mage forms. By the looks of things, it seems as if Onion Knight can change job classes at the click of a button; though this isn’t confirmed. Another thing that I noticed is that Limit Breaks absolutely own the other fighter, towards the end of the video we see Cloud Of Darkness using a Limit Break that brings Onion Knight down from basically full health; to well - next to nothing.
]]>Two new The Last Remnant magazine scans, taken from Famitsu have surfaced on the internet.
The magazine scans contain information speculating that The Last Remnant is heading for a 20th November release on the PlayStation 3; the exact same date that the title is planned to be released on the Xbox 360. At the moment this is just a rumour, and could well stay that way; especially considering that Square Enix said that The Last Remnant will be a time release exclusive to the Xbox 360 console - let’s keep our fingers crossed though.
It’s definitely worth checking out the scans, as they contain new images such as official artwork and screenshots.
