⧪⧪NEW SOVEREIGN GOLD BOND OPENS ⧪⧪

OPENED ON TUESDAY

PRICE: Rs 3890 Per gram(Fixed)

OFFER: Government has decided to offer Rs 50 Per Gram For Investors who apply online and pay through digital mode for the bond purchase.

ISSUE PRICE: 13 September 2019

ORIGIN AND OBJECTIVE: The gold bond scheme was launched in November 2015 with the objective of reducing demand for physical gold and shift a part of the domestic savings that had gone into the purchase of the yellow metal into financial savings.

INTEREST RATE: 2.50% per annum (payable semi-annually)

SUBSCRIPTION LIMIT: 1 gram to 500 gram (per person, per financial year)

SALE OF BONDS: Restricted to resident Indian entities including individuals, HUFS, Trusts, Universities, and charitable institutions.

EXIT OPTION: 8 years with exit option(if one wants) from the fifth year as well.

REDEMPTION PRICE: Redemption takes place on the basis of the previous week simple average of the closing price of gold.

LIQUIDITY: Mandatorily listed on BSE and NSE.

TAXATION: No capital gain tax if held until maturity. However, if the bonds are sold before the maturity date through the exchanges then this exemption is not applicable. If sold within 3 years of purchase then it is considered as SHORT TERM GAIN. Such gain will club as an income of person and taxes will be applicable as usual according to the income tax slab.

RISK INVOLVED: I think this might be the most important point for us to know about the risk involved in this bond. the default risk is involved as usual also there are some transaction charges as well.
