Good news for Mac users! The new application for Mac OS X is offered in a beta version. The beta version is free and gives you a number of opportunities easy to set up, easy to use.

First of all NuKIt offers a multifunctional Launcher that allows to run any application by typing its name and Aliases – customizable short commands to open popular searches and web sites. For example, if you want to search for “mathematics” in Google just type ‘g mathematics’ and it will force Launcher to open Google with search string ‘mathematics’.
NuKit provides a list of most usable search engines. You can also assign an alias to any website you need.

Secondly NuKit is featured with with Shortcuts to access the most usable applications. We got used to run apps by hotkeys on alternative operating system, but this is useful, why isn’t it on a Mac? You don’t have to mouse for Safari or Mail anymore – just press system wide shortcut to launch the app you like and immediately start working!

An advanced NuKit Calculator is also worth noting. It supports large numbers, algebraic and trigonometric functions and even displays the result in hexadecimal or binary. Just in case you need it.

Arranging windows now becomes fun with the multifunctional Window mover to move and resize windows. Press the user-definable modifier and start moving or resizing any window mouse cursor is currently over.
Happy MacBook owners – NuKit supports multitouch two or three finger gestures to be used to move or resize.

The list of features can be continued. Try it yourself!

Portland, Oregon (May 25, 2010) – Many Tricks, makers of helpful apps, today released version 3.2 of Witch (http://manytricks.com/witch), its indispensable window switching utility. The big news in Witch 3.2 is support for Spaces in OS X 10.6–Spaces users can now work with windows in all Spaces using Witch 3.2. Users can optionally choose to see Space number badges on the window icons in Witch’s switching panel.

In addition to this often-requested feature, there are some other notable improvements in this release:

Users can now control how long of a delay (including no delay) is used prior to the appearance of the Witch panel after pressing its activation keys. Using a delay allows users to toggle between two windows without seeing the Witch panel, much as can be done with Command-Tab.

Witch can now display a document’s icon, when available, instead of the icon for the associated application.

Pressing ‘F’ with a document (or program with no opened windows) selected will open that document’s (or program’s) parent folder in the Finder.

There are many other fixes detailed on our release notes page:

http://manytricks.com/witch/releasenotes/

There’s also a blog entry with more details:

http://manytricks.com/blog/?p=433

Witch 3.2 is a free update for all Witch 3 users. Witch 3 is $19, or $8 for users of Witch 2, and is available at manytricks.com/witch. For more information, please feel free to contact me directly.

Portland, Oregon (April 29, 2010) – Many Tricks, makers of helpful apps, today released version 3.1 of Witch (http://manytricks.com/witch), its indispensable window switching utility. Witch 3.1 adds a couple of useful new features, improves on many behaviors, and fixes a few bugs. Among the highlights:

The Witch panel appears after a very short delay, so it can be used (as with Command-Tab) to quickly toggle between two open windows without seeing the Witch panel flash onscreen.

A major memory leak has been identified and plugged. Witch no longer uses increasing amounts of RAM over time, and uses less RAM overall than version 3.0.

Updated help files explain all of Witch 3′s features

Handles Parallels’ windows more gracefully when Parallels is running in Coherence or Crystal view modes

Hidden windows are now shown with a translucent icon, so they can be easily identified at a glance.

There are many other fixes detailed on our release notes page.

There’s also a blog entry with more detail.

Witch 3.1 is a free update for all Witch 3 users. Witch 3 is $19, or $8 for users of Witch 2, and is available at manytricks.com/witch. For more information, please feel free to contact me directly.

BackupLoupe provides a convenient way to browse your backups and identify files/folders whose content changes frequently. Often, those items are temporary files or cache folders which need not be backed up in the first place. You may consider excluding them from TimeMachine backups and save valuable disk space.

Witch 3.0 allows Command-Tab activation, saving and loading themes, and controlling window title lengths

Portland, Oregon (April 7, 2010) – Many Tricks, makers of helpful apps, today released version 3.0 of Witch, its indispensable window switching utility. With Witch installed, a user doesn’t have to first use Command-Tab to switch between programs, and then work in each program to find the window they want to use. Instead, Witch allows users to switch directly to any open window in any program within the current Space. Witch turns a labor-intensive multi-step operation into nothing more complicated than pressing a couple of keys on the keyboard.

Witch 3 requires OS X 10.5 or newer and costs $19. A free upgrade will be given to users who purchased Witch 2 after March 17th, 2010. Existing users from before the cut-off date can upgrade to Witch 3 for eight dollars.

New in Witch 3 is the ability to assign the activation shortcut to Command-Tab, thereby completely replacing OS X’s built-in application switcher. Witch 3 also supports instant activation of the hide (H) and quit keys (Q); these keys now work when pressed, as they do when using the OS X application switcher. Witch also lets users minimize (M) and close (W) windows directly from the window switching panel, something they can’t do with the built-in application switcher.

Witch has always allowed users to customize the appearance of the window switching panel, but Witch 3 now lets users save multiple customized appearances, as well as load appearances from other sources. Witch 3 adds a new ‘window width slider’ designed to tame windows with incredibly long titles, such as those found on many web pages. Rather than simply truncating a window’s title, Witch 3 uses an algorithm to remove characters from the middle of the string, leaving window titles that are shorter yet still easily identifiable.

Finally, Witch 3 includes Sparkle support, so future updates can be done directly within the program.

As with previous versions of Witch, Witch 3 offers users the ability to set the sort order for windows in the switcher panel, set and customize activation keys for many different window management activities, specify programs and window titles that Witch should exclude from the list of open windows, and activate any of the first ten open windows with a single-key shortcut, much like Safari does with its first ten bookmarks.

Many Tricks has been producing great Mac software since 2002, and its product line currently includes Butler, Leech, Name Mangler, Witch, and a handful of small free utilities.
