iPresentee, the developer of add-ons for Apple’s iWork and iLife applications, releases free Keynote Countdown Timer to be used with Apple’s Keynote presentation software. Keynote Countdown Timer includes three different colors countdown timer animations: white, red and green. Each Keynote Countdown Timer can countdown from 90 minutes or less.
Get audience back in their seats promptly after breaks! Countdown timer can be used to show the time before the actually presentation or meeting should start. Teachers can also use timers during classroom instruction to help students to maintain attention and ultimately to become better “time-managers”. Time management is important during presentations or workshops. Presenters often have a great deal of material to cover and little time to waste. Using countdown timers inserted into Keynote presentations can energize your audience and keep both presenter and audience attentive and time-conscious. To start with Keynote Countdown Timer is a snap. Just download, drag to the slide, set countdown time and you are ready to start. Each countdown timer can be used on any colored background. Each animation can be changed in size, rotated, increased or decreased in opacity or overlapped with one another to create extra effects.

Keynote Countdown Timer is being offered free of charge and requires any Macintosh computer running Mac OS X with any version of Apple’s Keynote. Free add-ons are available for download at the iPresentee’s website.

NYC, New York – May 20, 2009 – Do you use iTunes? Want to dress up your latest downloads? Blaine Graboyes and Jesse Blanco are pleased to announce the Public Alpha release of TRAKART, a Visualizer Plug-In for iTunes that “automagically” makes realtime contextual music videos for iTunes 7.4 or higher.

How does TRAKART work? TRAKART translates each song into a stream of search terms, creating a random but relevant slideshow for your tracks, and making each song come to life in new and unexpected ways. Images are sourced from public Flickr feeds and streamed lived to your computer as you listen.

The current TRAKART Public Alpha release is open to the public but for Mac-only. Our goal is to use feedback from the Public Alpha to tweak the plug-in for a full release this summer with Windows support. An iPhone App is also planned for this summer.

TRAKART was programmed by developer Belprog, based in Belarus, and is being released, for a limited time, on a freeware model. Early donations over $5 will earn a license for lifetime upgrades when the software goes to a paid model in the future.

Go to http://trakart.com/ and submit a valid email address to receive a Public Alpha invite and a link to download the current version of TRAKART. Follow http://twitter.com/trakart on Twitter to receive ongoing updates from TRAKART.

iPresentee, the developer of add-ons for Apple’s iWork and iLife applications, releases Keynote Motion Themes 6.0 to be used with Apple’s Keynote presentation software. iPresentee presents five new Keynote themes: Old Film, Flourish Glow, Atomic Motion, Intramolecular and TV Noise. Each Keynote Motion Theme includes from fifteen to twenty six master slide layouts and high quality moving background graphics. Keynote Motion Themes contains everything to catch the eye of the audience with high-quality moving backgrounds making presentations more attractive and entertaining.

Creating the right design is the first step to a perfect presentation. The new release extends iPresentee’s Keynote themes collection up to seventy seven themes. Numerous themes collection enables Keynote users to choose the perfect theme or combination of themes for any type of presentation. Keynote Motion Themes can stand alone to unify a presentation or can be mixed together with other non-motion themes to provide breakpoints. Keynote Motion Themes offers a variety of presentation styles with coordinated fonts, colors, great backgrounds, unique bullets and picture frames. Moreover, there is no need to explore any tutorial or to learn how to use Keynote Motion Themes. Creating a presentation using Keynote Motion Themes is exactly the same as creating a presentation using the usual themes — you can add, edit, and format text; add photos or movies; and use Keynote’s transitions and special effects. Keynote Motion Themes 6.0 includes an installer to make sure the themes end up in the right place and will be displayed in Keynote’s themes menu automatically. In addition iPresentee offers updated Keynote Show. Keynote Show package is most likely the best offer of add-ons for Apple’s Keynote which includes 40 Keynote Themes, 37 Keynote Motion Themes, 80 Keynote Animations and 115 Keynote 3D Stuff objects for only $60.

Keynote Motion Themes 6.0 requires any Macintosh computer running Mac OS X with iWork 08 or iWork 09 installed.

Each individual Keynote Motion Theme is priced at $10. The package of five themes is available for $25!

For more information about Keynote Motion Themes 6.0 please visit a website at http://www.ipresentee.com/

Chisinau, Moldova, May 05, 2009 – Tesline-Service SRL today announced that its Rohos Logon Key authentication solution for Mac OS® X Tiger and Mac OS® X Leopard now supports two-factor authentication with any USB flash drive and PIN code.

Mac OS X security benefits:
•	Access your Mac with hardware USB key
•	The Mac is protected but you don\’t need to enter your password manually each time you unlock your Mac
•	Automatically lock your MAC screen when USB Key is unplugged
•	Unlocking your MAC with a USB token is fully automatic and fast!
•	PIN code option offers two-factor authentication

“As it has been said before Tesline-Service is continuing its tradition of providing with the best solution to protect Mac. We are glad to present Rohos Logon Key v.1.7.2 with two-factor authentication support and Yubikey OTP validation.” said Alexander Silonosov, General Manager, Tesline-Service. “PIN code function now blocks your USB Key after 3 wrong attempts. It means it will not be possible to use it as a logon key. In this release we added YubiKey OTP verification support and Touchatag RFID wireless tags support. Rohos Logon Key provides end users with an easy-to-use authentication solution that combines true mobility with the most robust security.”

About Rohos Logon Key
Rohos Logon allows using any USB flash drive with on-board serial number to be used as a security token. Rohos does not store any information on USB flash drive, thus allowing to use even non-Mac compatible USB sticks. It protects your Key with PIN code to prevent unauthorized logon with your USB Key.

How it works
Rohos Logon remembers selected USB flash drive that user has chosen for protection. From that moment when USB drive gets disconnected from Mac – Rohos immediately locks Mac desktop or does nothing. By setting up PIN code you protect USB Key from somebody who can use it for logon into your Mac without your permission. After plugging in the USB Key – Rohos Logon will ask user to enter PIN in order to log in or unlock your Mac.

•	PIN code works for USB flash drives, Bluetooth enabled mobile phones and Touchatag
•	Security benefits: After 3 wrong attempts to enter PIN (it can be a short one, e.g. 1234) the USB Key will be blocked. It will not be possible to use it as an access key.

The Mac Version costs – $32 USD. It’s a 15 day trial version.
System requirements: Mac OS X 10.4 or later

LaCie announced today a creative new way to access the data from SD and microSD cards. Created exclusively for LaCie by the award-winning 5.5 designers firm, the LaCie Data/Share is an inventive product designed to combine these standard memory cards and the ubiquitous USB interface to enhance and simplify user’s digital lives. In addition, the LaCie Data/Share recently received a 2009 iF product design award by the iF International Forum Design.

The Data/Share’s stylish red and white design is attention grabbing, but by effortlessly converting SD card and microSD information into the more accessible USB format, the Data/Share distinguishes itself as more than just a colorful accessory. Customers can insert their SD and microSD cards into the corresponding LaCie Data/Share slot and instantly create a USB-ready storage key, or just a quick and easy way to access their SD and microSD card information on their computers.

The two delineated sides of the Data/Share help customers easily organize and prioritize their data. Users can choose to keep their personal data on one side, while using the other side for shared data. Both sides have the advantage of High-Speed USB transfer rates of up to 480MB/s.

The SD and microSD connectors on the Data/Share are push-push, giving them both durability and high reliability. The Data/Share is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems, and is additionally backward compatible with USB 1.1, an advantage for customers with older computer interfaces.

“The Data/Share is a stylish way to make sure you can easily access and secure all of your data,” said Alexis Kobassian, LaCie Peripherals and Accessories Product Manager. “We live in a culture that requires true data mobility and portability. At LaCie, we’re consistently innovating and producing accessories that have sophisticated design, and the highest level of usability and functionality.”

In addition to its cross-platform compatibility, the Data/Share is compatible with all the latest SD and MicroSD cards – Class 1 to 6 SDHC or microSDHC cards – making it an accessible and essential tool for customers with varying types of devices.

Availability
The LaCie Data/Share is available now through the LaCie Online Store at the suggested retail price of $9.90. For more information, visit www.lacie.com.

Today LaCie announced three new product combinations for professionals who expect fast, high capacity and reliable storage solutions to enhance their workflow. Leveraging the quality and reputation of the award-winning LaCie 4big Quadra–which is recognized for its high capacity, speeds, data protection, and design–LaCie premieres the 4big Quadra Bundle, which boasts huge capacities up to 32TB and fast transfer speeds up to 700MB/s. LaCie also announced today a new 8TB model of the 4big Quadra, an integral part of the 32TB LaCie 4big Quadra Bundle.

LaCie 4big Quadra is the most complete 4-bay RAID solution featuring four hot-swappable disks and seven RAID modes including RAID0 and RAID5. By stripping* two or more 4big Quadra and connecting them via eSATA – using the LaCie eSATA II PCI Express Card 3Gb/s – 4Ports – professionals now have access to the most powerful RAID configuration on the market today. The LaCie 4big Quadra Bundle gives users a choice of combining two 4big Quadra for up to 8TB and 400MB/s transfer speeds, or four 4big Quadra for up to 32TB and 700 MB/s transfer speeds.

“With the rise of HD and uncompressed HD digital content, creative professionals depend on storage solutions that will be compatible with their everyday applications, like Adobe Premiere® or Apple Final Cut Pro®, and solutions that will incorporate amazing performance, capacity, and data protection into their workflow,” remarked Arnaud Prézelin, LaCie Product Manager for Creative Pro Solutions. “By giving professionals the ability to configure four 4big Quadra into a RAID 50 array, the LaCie 4big Quadra Bundle provides industry-leading performance without enterprise-level costs.”

Featuring three options for customization, the LaCie 4big Quadra Bundle includes the choice of two or four 4big Quadra, a LaCie eSATA II PCI Express Card 3Gb/s – 4Ports, and a LaCie Rescue Kit (available with Bundles 16TB and 32TB). The Rescue Kit, which consists of a spare hard disk and power supply, is designed for workflow respect in case of common storage issue with simple maintenance, hot-swappable drive replacement and automatic rebuild.

8TB LaCie 4big Quadra Bundle:
2 x 4TB LaCie 4big Quadra, LaCie eSATA II PCI Express Card 3Gb/s – 4Ports

16TB LaCie 4big Quadra Bundle:
4 x 4TB LaCie 4big Quadra, LaCie eSATA II PCI Express Card 3Gb/s – 4Ports, and LaCie Rescue Kit

32TB LaCie 4big Quadra Bundle:
4 x 8TB LaCie 4big Quadra, LaCie eSATA II PCI Express Card 3Gb/s – 4Ports, and LaCie Rescue Kit

Compared to traditional RAID towers, the 4big Quadra Bundle has been optimized for ultimate efficiency, including an automatic standby mode to reduce power consumption of each tower by up to 80 percent compared to standard 4-bay RAID tower. Ideal for noise sensitive working environments, each 4big Quadra also incorporates the ultra-reliable Noctua cooling system, making it almost 50 percent quieter than comparable systems. Designed in aluminum by the world-famous product designer Neil Poulton, the 4big Quadra design is stackable and space-saving, fitting into modern working environments.

Also made for Sever backup, the LaCie 4big Quadra Bundle comes with Genie Backup Manager Pro™ for Windows® and Intego Backup Manager Pro™ for Mac®, supporting customizable backups and computer recovery.

Being a geeking computer user meant when I needed to learn a few phrases in a new language, I would search for software to help me. Since I own an iPod Touch and a Mac, I wanted something that I could take with me. In steps ‘Keep Your Word’ from Bambooapps. From the website:

“Freestyle vocabulary cataloger and flashcards trainer for Mac OS X.
Do you want to learn a new language? Do you want to memorize a long list of medical terms? Do you need to review your collection of flash cards while going to the office?”

Pros of Keep Your Word vocabulary trainer

Installation was of course nice and straight forward, and downloading and installing on the iPod Touch was equally simple. The sign of an intuitive app to me, is one that does not require a manual to learn. KYW is one of those apps. Right from the get go it was simple and intuitive to use and learn. Within 2 minutes I had entered in a handful of words and their Japanese phonetic equivalents, and, did a couple of flash card quizzes.

KYW also works seemlessly with the new Words Parade website. WordsParade is a repository where users of Keep Your Word can share their dictionaries. This is pretty cool, as you can already download and start learning from such cool categories as Law Enforcement terms, Derm Pathology terms, to the more mundane languages of our world. If you create a wicked dictionary and want to share your creation, Wordsparade is free and easy to use.

KYW supports importing of csv files which makes getting going really easy with lots of words. I had a list of about 100 words and their Japanese phonetic equivalents in an Excel file, which I dumped out in CSV format, and imported into KYW. Your words can be grouped easily into Adjectives, verbs or substantives, you can add images to your words, and using smart groups, key your words just how you want them.

Cons of Keep Your Word vocabulary trainer

About the only thing I can say, and it is not a bad thing, is that KYW is still young on features. After my first couple of rounds with KYW I fired off an email to the developer with my short wish list:

The ability to pick out duplicate entries and offer a solution Not a big deal for my little dictionaries, but larger dictionaries could benefit from this feature.

Make adding tags more like adding keywords in iPhoto. Currently adding tags is a bit confusing, mostly because adding a tag to a group of words, the old tags disappear.

Be able to randomize the printing of the flash cards and print by tag/category. Shuffle it up a bit so you can use the printouts to quiz yourself when no computer is around.

Stats make a good incentive, there should be some, showing my progress in learning the words. I love stats. No more needs to be said.

That’s it. Nothing that is a show stopper and just my personal wish list.

Final thoughts

I love this little app, and having it sync on both m mac and my iPod touch, means I can quiz myself on my words anytime and anywhere. For the price I would recommend this to anyone with a desire to learn.
