Who cares about those two when you can experience Find Me?

That's right! We're in South Africa. We are flying over the ocean and into foreign soil. Well, the DVD is, not us, specifically. Actually 5o0 DVD's to be more specific and they're Special Edition on top of it all. How many is 500? Check it out here. Pretty cool, right?

Also, the Hidden Item Contest to win $1,000 dollars has been extended to June 1st. (Oh, And Have A Good Time, Too.)

Once again, we are going to put our best foot forward and see what will happen.

Yep, that's right. It's our annual Dodgeball Competition! Personally, I'm still getting over the rug burns from last year.

Wait a minute... Right... I see... Are you sure? Alright.

Turns out the dodgeball thing got pushed aside. Drat! It was a good idea, too. Turns out the whole "putting our best foot forward" thing actually translates into, "We've entered another film festival". Yeah, I know, weird, right? I mean, seeing as this is a film blog and all. Anyway...

Find Me has been officially selected to take part in the Trail Dance Film Festival 2010! It's pretty exciting. Not every film entered got selected by the Judges and Selection Committee. So, if you'd like more info, here's the official website. While you're there, check out the award! I don't know about you, but I'm digging it.

Oh, and if you're feeling really adventurous, you can check out the full list of films that were selected. Let me know if you see some other films you like. From just glancing at the list and browsing the movie titles, it won't be a dull festival by a long shot. Actually, I can't imagine it ever would be dull.

And now I feel like I'm rambling. Thank you! Thank you! Want a Free Movie?

It's here.

A contest you don't have to think too much about. As of today, it will be one year since the filming of Find Me began, and because we will take any reason to celebrate, we just couldn't pass this one up. So, starting today and continuing through the 23rd, we'll be giving away one copy of Find Me everyday to a fan of Trost Moving Pictures on Facebook. That's nine copies of Find Me waiting to be given away! All you have to do is click here and become TMP's fan on Facebook. Seriously, that's it.

Don't have a Facebook account? Never fear! It's pretty simple to make one. Just click here to get started.

Already a fan on Facebook? Congratulations! You get the best part - a chance to share the love. (Yeah, I know. I thought it was a little mushy too.) You have to think of this as increasing your probability. If one of your friends wins, you can always borrow the movie and get a free viewing of an award-winning movie. I'm not seeing a downside here.

So, what are you waiting for? It's just a series of button clicks. It's not challenging. It's not mind-bending. It's a simple way of letting us show you how much we appreciate your fandom, but we can't do that unless we know who you are.

We promise we're not stalkers.

Casii

Become a Find Me fan on Facebook at: www.findmethemovieonfacebook.com

It was a pretty fascinating interview. Fortunately, he let spill a slightly vague summary of his new upcoming film. He also let spill that if you want on-set experience there just might be an opening. Exciting, right? So, stay tuned.

Here are 12 questions with Tracy Trost.

1) How are you?

I'm doing great. Thanks for asking.

2) Congrats on winning the awards for Best Feature Film at the S2S (Script 2 Screen Festival) and 2nd place for Best Feature Film at the Kingdomwood Festival. What was it like to win them? Where do you keep the awards?

It was pretty exciting winning the awards. S2S is not a Christian festival. So, it was nice to be recognized outside of the "Christian" realm. It was also very exciting to see Tyler (Roberds - Paul Jump) win Best Actor, and of course, it's fun to hear your name called when they hand out the awards. The awards are actually behind my desk, sitting on the windowsill.

3) With the Find Me Special Edition DVD coming out, what can we expect that will be different than the original?

Well, it has about a half-hour behind-the-scenes information, interviews with myself and interviews with the cast and crew. There's also the Geocaching 101, which has three different videos to teach people how to go geocaching, if they've never done it before. There's also a lot of previews of other upcoming films done by Pure Flix and Cloud Ten along with some other independent filmmakers. So, we're trying to make it a fun, informational DVD. I'm looking forward to it. We're actually just on the last bits of editing and getting ready to go out to the replicator right now. So, it'll be in some 600 stores in December and then the rest of the stores in January. People will be able to go to the Find Me website and put in their zip code and it will tell them the nearest store that they can pick the DVD up at. I'm really excited about it.

4) I hear you're busy writing a new script...

Yes, it's called A Christmas Snow. We plan to shoot it here in Tulsa, Oklahoma sometime in January or February of 2010, and have it available for Christmas of 2010. I'm writing it with a female writer named Candace Lee. (Note: She was the 2nd AD for Find Me.) Right now, I have it up on my computer and I'm going over it, doing a little rewriting, a little editing, just trying to tighten it up a little bit and make it the most compelling story that it can be.

5) Coming into your second movie, are you more excited for this one?

Yeah. Find Me was the fulfillment of the dream. Find Me, for me, was kind of a film like, "I think I can do this. Can I do it?" Fortunately, I've learned in past business experiences to surround myself with people who know more about the positions than I do, and I had that in Find Me. I'm kind of doing the same thing in A Christmas Snow. So, I'm just as excited about A Christmas Snow, maybe a little bit more than I was about Find Me. Having done it once and realizing that, yes, this is what I want to do and this is who I want to be. It has helped me to keep the enthusiasm and the excitement level up going into this next film.

6) As a director/writer/producer, what is one characteristic about your movie, now and in the future, that will make people say, "This is a Trost Moving Pictures film" or "This is a Tracy J Trost film"?

If I was to say that there was one thing that would make my films stand out, something that would identify a Tracy J Trost film, it would be to, hopefully, entertain people and tell a good story. One more thing I think that would make me stand out a little more would be to touch people's hearts, minds and souls. The funny thing is, the biggest thing that a lot of people think about life, is that they're the only one who deals with certain issues, or they're the only one who goes through certain things. The fact is, we all deal with the same issues in life. We all deal with the same hurts, the same triumphs, the same over comings. So, in my movie, Find Me, there was a very strong forgiveness message, and then in A Christmas Snow, there's a very strong redemptive message about healing past hurts. A lot of people carry a lot of baggage in their lives, and they hang on to things that do nothing more than weigh them down and hold them back. In this movie our main character Kathleen, finds, through her relationship with another person, a way to let go and really take off the blinders. She gets to see what her life could be when she sees it through the eyes of a person who forgives - sees it through the eyes of a person who's not hanging on to years and years of bitterness. That seems to be the theme, at least with these first two movies. People identify with it. It's helped people in their own lives. It's helped people let go of their past hurts and their past feelings.

7) What in your life has made you able to write these conflicts with truth?

I don't know that I've had a huge of amount of bitterness or unforgiveness in my life, but in my job, and in my life, I've been able to counsel a lot of people on a personal level, and that's the reoccurring theme that comes through. It always comes down to hanging on to things. Usually, what they think is the truth in their life isn't truth, but they build their life around this thought process that causes them to hold bitterness, resentment or to blame others for issues in their life. We get to a position where we're self-deceived, and we will formulate our life and the way we do things to support this self-deception. When we see it for what it is and let go of it, we can see life for what it truly is, and we can be at peace. So, I wouldn't say so much that I've had issues with forgiveness, or maybe I have and I don't know it. Maybe I'm self-deceived. I don't know. The issue is, I've seen a lot of it in people's lives, and I've been able to help guide people to realizing that a way of forgiveness is a much better way to live than one of resentment and bitterness.

8) Is there a certain genre of film that you prefer as a director?

I enjoy films that seem to be taking you in a certain direction, but then all of a sudden, turn in a different direction and you go, "How did that happen?" Then you see the clues that were dropped along the way throughout the film and you go, "Oh, now I get it. Now I know why he did that."

9) Do you have a favorite movie in that genre?

Hm, well, The Sixth Sense was probably one of my favorites with the twist at the end. Where you just didn't see it coming. If people ask me "What is your favorite movie?", I keep coming back to Meet Joe Black. I don't know that I was so much enthralled with the storyline as much as the performance of the actors in that one. Claire Forlani, to me, was just fantastic in that movie. She showed every gamut of emotion, you know, from extreme sorrow, to jubilation, to wonder, to fear. I mean, she had everything. I liked the story. I loved the performances. Anthony Hopkins was great. So, it's probably one of my favorite movies, but when it's comes back to the twist, I would go along with M. Night Shyamalan.

10) Which director do you respect the most and why?

Well, there's several directors. I think Richard Donnor is one of my favorite directors. Of course, I mentioned M. Night Shyamalan, and then there's Michael Bay. It's hard to say one in specific. M. Night Shyamalan for his writing ability and storytelling ability, of course. The way he will twist the story and take you by surprise. Michael Bay, of course, is the big action movie guy, but he has a way of shooting a movie (though he's not the DP in the movie), but I know he has a lot of input on his filmmaking. It's just the way he shows his images through use of slow motion and color. He's an artist with his filmmaking. Richard Donnor's an action guy, but the thing I like about his action movies is you identify with his characters. You get in touch with his characters. That once again comes back to the storytelling process. I mean, if you're audience doesn't care about your characters, it doesn't matter. Anything can happen to them and you really don't care. If you want to move your audience emotionally one way or the other, there has to be buy-in. Donnor, Bay and Shyamalan are good at that. So, those three are the ones I like the most.

11) Do you have a favorite actor/actress that you would like to work with someday?

If I could choose an actor/actress that I'd really like to work with... Tyler Roberds and Fiawna Forte. I'm kidding. I did get to work with them, though. That was fun. If there's someone specific though, I'm trying to think... That's a hard one to say, because there are a lot of actors and actresses that are really good, but sometimes they don't always fit the part. Johnny Depp, I'd have to say is probably one of my favorite actors. I don't like all his choices in film that he's done, but Johnny Depp is a true actor. He becomes whoever the character is, so much so, that in some films you don't even recognize him. I love that about him, because he totally gets into it. He's totally the actor. Actress wise, I love Claire Forlani. I'd love to work with her, because I think she can just dig way deep and pull out a performance. The one thing I love about directing is working with my actors and, if I can, push them to a point where they are giving me more than they thought they could give me. That the performance is so believable, so real that the audience would never go, "Oh, that's Claire Forlani." They'd go, "That's a girl named Kathleen." They wouldn't recognize her actions or the way she does things, because she has become this other person. That's not always easy to do. That's a very hard transformation. Especially when you're on a set and you got thirty people standing around and you go, "Okay, Action!" They got to jump into it. I respect the actors more and more that I work with them, because to step from the real world into this fantasy world, and continue with a consistent performance and honestly fool your audience... that's not an easy thing to do. So, that's one of my favorite things.

12) And finally, what is your favorite finger food?

Hm, let me think. I have to say stuffed mushrooms. I'm a 'shroom guy.

That's all folks!

Casii

Become a Find Me fan on Facebook at: www.findmethemovieonfacebook.com

So, read on to find out what he's working on now, what he plans to do in the future and just how humble he really is.

1) How are you? Feeling better?
Yeah, I'm okay. I'm doing a lot better. Thanks. Stay warm guys, the flu is no fun!

2) Were you at the award show? If not, how did you find out that you won? What was your reaction?
No, unfortunately, I didn't get to make it to S2S (Script 2 Screen). I'm working on another local film. We were scheduled to shoot that weekend, so I didn't make plans on going.
Then I found out at the last minute that something came up, and we couldn't shoot for whatever reason. The night of the awards I was over at my parents with
my family when I got a text message from Tracy (Trost - director), "Hey, you just got best actor at S2S." I was just sort of like... "Um, what?" Ha! I knew Find Me would do great, but I didn't know I was nominated for anything personally. Then I felt like a HUGE jerk because I didn't get to be there!

3) Did you get to keep the award? If so, what does it look like?
I did! You can see the picture of Tracy holding his award on the Find Me Facebook page. It's a golden steer skull mounted on a wooden plaque. I keep it on a bookshelf at home.

4) Have you had any doors of opportunity open because of this award or because of Find Me?
For the award, not yet anyways, but it definitely boosts my confidence. It makes me want to work twice as hard. Find Me, on the other hand, has opened a lot of doors for me.
I made a ton of great friends on the set and learned so much working with everyone. When you make friends on a set, sometimes you make work contacts without knowing it.
Then the next time you're on a film set and and someone says, "I wonder who we can get to do this..." You more than likely know someone.

5) What are you working on now?
Right now, I'm working on a local film that's a horror/thriller. I just did a small spot on a bigger feature production that's being shot in Oklahoma City. It's called Time Expired. Luckily, I did that over the weekend just before I got sick. Later this month, I'll be playing the lead in another short film. I also have taken classes in Norman, OK since Find Me. That helped a ton, and I plan on taking more as soon as I get time.

6) What was you favorite memory/scene from shooting Find Me?
Ah Casii, you know the days were too crazy to remember anything! No, I really enjoyed the scenes we shot in the Catholic Church. I loved all of it, but the church was beautiful.
It was funny because the whole crew just sort of slowed down and went into "church mode". Everyone was whispering even when we weren't shooting. It was one of the few times I got
to slow down and take it all in for a bit. I remember sitting and thinking, "Yes, this is what I want to do, this is what I'm going to do."

7) What's one lesson you've learned from acting in Find Me that's helped you with other jobs?
I learned a TON from Find Me. Find Me was my first time acting on film. I knew what to expect and how to go about the process of being on the set, but actually getting to be apart of it in front and behind the camera is just ridiculous. It's amazing. All the cast and crew were absolutely professional, and whether they knew it or not I was watching everyone's moves and soaking up everything I could. I felt like I was an undercover film student. "Don't let them know your learning as you go..."

8) Where would you like to go from here?
Wherever I need to go to keep doing what I love. I've got soooo much to learn about the industry, myself, how I fit in and where. I'm just going to do all I can, love what I do, and never be satisfied - be humble about it but never be satisfied

9) If you could describe your ideal acting role and with whom you could work with, what and with whom would it be?
Well, right now I'm just happy to be acting period! I love the films that aren't made with "how much will we make" in mind. I want to be a part of films that are real stories that have
real problems and real people. Something where people get more out of it than they expected when they sat down to watch. I also love the stories with a message, but they take place in
extreme worlds with extraordinary characters. Needless to say, Tim Burton is one of my favorite directors.

10) What is your favorite finger food?
Ha! Is it cheating if I say a vegetable tray? It's more than one item, but they share the same dip. It counts.

For more info on Tyler Roberds, you can visit this website here.

Casii

Become a Find Me fan on Facebook at: www.findmethemovieonfacebook.com

Accordingly, confusion happens occasionally and there was the helpful circling around the pillars.

In this movie clip, we have Tracy Trost (director) and Jim Schmidt (Detective Kuhn) going over what Jim was going to do in the scene. Meanwhile, Greg Price (DP), Brad Boaz (Best Boy), and Pat Flanagan (Key Grip) were going over the lighting.

I don't know about you, but there's something fascinating about this. Tracy J Trost (director)!

Not only did he dare enter his film into two festivals in the same weekend, but in two different states as well!

First, Tracy won 2nd place for Best Feature Film at the KingdomWood Film Festival in Lithonia, GA. Then he went to bed. The next day, not only did he take home the Best Feature Film Award, but, Tyler Roberds won the Best Actor Award for his portrayal of Paul Jump from the Script 2 Screen Film Festival in Tulsa, OK as well!

If you will ladies and gents, please give a round of applause to Tracy and Tyler or you could lovingly call them T 'n' T. Turns out it's his favorite scene in the movie. He goes on to explain why and to also give you an idea of what it was like for the rest of the crew. (Hint: It wasn't the same reaction.)

To get a better visual of what the set-up for the scene was like, here's a video of Tracy talking to Tyler Roberds (Jump) about the scene.

Here is the video of Tracy telling his side of the story.

Admittedly, we, the crew, were a little confused and yet happy because it meant that Tracy got the shot he wanted.

Happy about my software,

Leavy Green (Casii)

P.S. Probably, should do that on my own time, though.

So, finally, after procrastination, responding to e-mails, and figuring out how to use the transitions, I have a finished video to share with you.

This video was shot before and after the Osceola Screening for Find Me. My boss, Joe Jestus (Marketing & Brand Director), shot it, so I really don't have the best story behind it all. I do know that there was a certain indie film screened and then there was some questions asked to Tracy Trost (Director) that I hadn't heard before.

I liked the new questions. A pillow and blanket feels well-earned, but it will not be reached until I finish this post.

Last post, we visited a late Saturday evening film set, involving a cigarette . Today, we're going to throw back the clock by a few hours to the film location right before, a beloved elementary school. It was a brisk evening with a sad tale of a brand new iPhone being possibly stepped on. (Either way, the mesmerizing gadget was not working.) There were also questions of power supply and whether a 1 was really a 1 or maybe something else.

Anyway, this scene is where Jump (Tyler Roberds) and Jess (Fiawna Forte) find yet another clue in their cinematic quest. Unfortunately, this video contains no footage of Jump and Jess. Just some pre-shoot crew camaraderie, including some signs of questionable walking methods. So, please enjoy.

Now the question is, what did Tracy Trost (director) write on the board?

Well, what do you think?

Signing out to dreams,

Leavy Green

Become a Find Me fan on Facebook at: www.findmethemovieonfacebook.com

So, I don't have any footage from the Osceola, Wisconsin Screening to share with you and I heard there was some really good questions.

I'm bummed.

So, instead we have a insight into how cold it really was (the Minnesotans of the crew were slightly complaining), why Tracy Trost is a director and not a rapper, and how we shot the villianess-smoking a cigarette-while-looking-scary scene. The actress in the scene is Kimberly Jones, who plays Merrick.

This was the second-to-last day of filming, the last scene outside, and we all were hungry and cold, as I said before.

The video is dark, but the audio is pretty clean, so you can get a pretty good idea of what's going on.

There was eventually some wings consumed, along with a couple party trays demolished. Blankets never felt so good.

Enjoy the warmth!

Leavy Green

Become a Find Me fan on Facebook at: www.findmethemovieonfacebook.com

They were filming Jump (Tyler Roberds) and Jess (Fiawna Forte) using their great reasoning skills to find the next clue.

I, on the other hand, was not. As apparent by my astonishment (in my mind only) when I found out that to film someone getting out of the elevator, you just pressed the "close door" button and then the "open door" button. Yeah, you don't actually have to use the elevator, just press a couple of buttons. Who knew?

Anyhoo, here is the behind-the-scenes of the actual filming of the elevator scene. Don't be turned away by the somber-looking men. I am very excited! I'm even wearing a pull over. ^_^

So, with all that happiness in mind, I though I would try and spread the joy. Here are some more raving reviews, of our beloved Indie Film, with a little more personality thrown in. Or you know, maybe more than a little.

Minnesotans being a modest people, we don't like to be on camera that often. What do you think?

As for this post, I'm going to call it "Not So Candid" and see what happens. I love a good experiment now and again.

But, finally and sadly, we've come to the end of the "Find Me Minnesota Screening Q&A" videos.

This video involves some more info into what Tracy Trost (the director) would like to do with his Indie Film, Find Me, after the Screenings are over with and gives more insight into why he made this movie. There is, of course, the standard alien question and a surprise gesture of affection to Tracy. Enjoy!

If you desire to ask Tracy a question yourself, go ahead and check us out on Facebook. He's a very giving and genuine guy.

Singing my way out,

Leavy Green

Become a Find Me fan on Facebook at: www.findmethemovieonfacebook.com
