Hey everyone, i have a problem with my kitchen sink that has done this for a very long time.

Whenever you pour liquids down the drain, you get a rotten egg smell. It's not the water, it will do it if you dump a bottle of water down the drain. I don't hear any bubbling going on. Roof vent is clear. Could the under sink vent be faulty?

We did have slow drains about 5 years ago. Plumber ran something out to the street and came back with mud on the bit. It is orangeburg. We haven't had any slow drain problems since then but are just biding our time until we have to get that replaced.

Here is a pic of the drain pipes. Anything look obviously wrong to you, or could it be as simple as the vent?

Hey everyone, i am replacing a laundry sink in my basement. The old one was just a regular bathroom vanity and sink on a 8 inch platform. I am installing a new deep bowl laundry tub and realize my drain pipe is way too high. The washing machines are draining into this pipe also. It drains into a 6"??? main line into the floor.

When i slid the new tub back i realized i would need to raise this whole thing up quite a bit just for the deep sink to be able to drain. Now i know why the old sink was on a platform. With this deep tub it makes the situation worse and i will have to raise the it up quite a bit more than the old one.

I have a pic here that shows what it looks like under the sink. You can see the bottom of the sink and the capped drain pipe. Will this situation work if i can hook this up to the drain, or will it need to be raised up more? If so, how much more? It already looks strange being up so high but i want to make it work and need to know how much higher (if needed) and why. I know the bottom of the drain has to be higher than the drain pipe itself for the sink to empty.

I have done some basic plumbing in the past and should have no problems hooking it up as long as it is set up to work.

Thanks everyone in advance for their help.

Today I replaced the thermal expansion tank on my hot water heater. It was a bear to get the old one off. However, now that I have the new one on, it looks like the female fitting may have a small crack that is leaking (it is a very small, slow leak...one drip every 5 minutes), from when I took the old one off.
Can I repair this or does the fitting need to be replaced (if it needs to be replaced, I guess I need to call a plumber...so much for do-it-myself)?

Thanks.
