Gap car insurance, like many other types of insurance isn't necessarily required. That is to say that you can certainly purchase a new car without gap car insurance; however, you could be leaving yourself open for some losses if you don't purchase it. Read on for more tips to better understand whether you need gap car insurance or you can skip it.

Gap car insurance covers the difference between the market value of your car and your loan amount. Aren't the two the same, you might ask. Not necessarily. You see, the moment you drive your car off the lot it depreciates, or loses value, immediately and quite significantly. Let's say you purchase a new car and pay $25,000 for it. On average a car will depreciate at least 20% right after it leaves the dealership. That means your brand new car is now worth only $20,000. What happens if you have an accident soon after the purchase? Even if you have full insurance coverage, including comprehensive and collision, your insurance policy will still only cover the market value of the car. Unfortunately, even though the market value and insurance policy are now worth only $20,000 you still owe in the neighborhood of $25,000 for the car. Without gap car insurance you'll be stuck covering that additional $5,000 on your own.

Be aware that not all gap car insurance policies are the same and this is important. For example, some gap car insurance policies will cover losses due to theft and accidents but not all so be sure to ask questions regarding specifically what is covered in the policy before you take it.

Usually, gap car insurance is a good idea if you are about to purchase a new car and are concerned that you wouldn't be able to cover the difference between the market value and the amount that would be cover by the C&C policy. Be aware that gap insurance is not available for older vehicles in most cases.

While you're certainly not required to take out gap car insurance by your lender or the dealer, it can help you to rest easier in knowing you won't be stuck owing thousands of dollars on a totaled car in the event that you suffer an accident or theft shortly after the purchase.

It is also important to understand that if you finance your car through the dealership you can usually take out gap car insurance at the time of the purchase; however, you'll probably end up paying more for the policy than if you simply took it out with your regular auto insurance agent.

Before taking out gap car insurance, always be sure to check your existing policy to find out whether gap insurance might already be contained within that policy. You never know, it might not necessary to purchase an additional policy at all. If it's not included, give some thought to whether the price of the gap insurance would be worth the trade-off of not having to worry if you have an accident and can't afford to pay the difference between market value and coverage amount with a regular policy.

Source: http://www.articlealley.com/article_72536_19.html

Car insurance. Speeding fines play havoc with car insurance premiums

Speed cameras are now a regular feature on our roads, and have successfully reduced accidents, while raising millions of pounds in fines. Such is their prevalence, that one in four households have a driver that has been caught speeding at least once. With the conviction comes three points on the licence and a 60 fine but research carried out by the AA has shown that there are more costs to consider, and that's on the car insurance.

The AA's research showed that on average drivers can expect to see their premiums rise by 20% with speeding offences, even if their driving record was perfect before. They made their findings through mystery shopping calling a range of eight insurance companies and giving the details of a 25-year-old and a 40-year-old to get a broad picture of the effects.

The premiums for the 25-year-old increased by an average of 42 after one driving offence, and by 178 with two. The 40-year-old would see an average rise of 28 after one offence, and 116 after two.

However, for the 25-year-old, only four of the insurers surveyed raised their premiums on an existing policy because of a first speeding offence. With a second offence in the same year however, one insurer raised the premiums from 563 to 921, another from 563 to 776. One company could not commit to insuring the driver with a second offence.

If you are caught by a speed camera, then it is important to tell your existing insurer. There is no reason not to, as they are unlikely to raise your premiums immediately, they will wait until renewal time to reconsider your premiums. The reason why it is important is because if you do have an accident and make a claim, they can use your non-disclosure of a speeding conviction to overturn your claim. And that is not worth the risk!

Also, if you are getting quotes for a new policy, then again it is essential that you disclose the speeding conviction. Points stay on your driving licence for three years, but due to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, insurers are able to take the conviction into consideration for five years following the offence. The key is to shop around. Some insurers will penalise drivers with speeding offences more than others, and it will depend on your age, where you live etc as usual. More serious motoring offences will result in larger hikes in your premiums.

If you do get a speeding conviction, don't despair just get on the Internet and get as many quotes as you can. Using a comparison website usually comes up with some good results. You may find that by shopping around you still beat last year's premiums, even with your conviction! If you renew with your existing insurance company without checking out the competition, you could be throwing away hundreds of pounds needlessly.Of course, the best tactic would to be to drive within the speed limits. But all you have to do is drive a few miles an hour over the limit to get caught, so it can happen to anyone.

The golden rules are be honest about the offence, and shop around. You'll be amazed at how cheap your motor insurance can still be with a little time and effort.

Source: http://www.articlealley.com/article_83991_63.html

Car insurance – have you switched?

Each and every year thousands of motorists lose out on potential savings by accepting the renewal quote of their existing insurer. Shopping around and switching to a more competitive provider can save the average shopper 100’s on their premium.

A survey carried out by the Supermarket chain Tesco’s found that only 32% had switched in the last 12 months. Perhaps worryingly, 1 in 10 admitted to never having switched or using the same provider for more than a 10 year period.

Those questioned admitted to staying with their provider as the policy features and cover type were more important to them than the price. Meanwhile 71% of those who switched insurers in the preceding year put price at the top of their list of priorities.

56% of those who have switched car insuranc providers in the preceding 3-4 years said that price had been the most important factor for doing so – this appears to show that more recently consumers have gotten wise to the fact that they can find much cheaper cover by spending a little time on line.

Only 24% of those who have been with their insurer for over 10 years named price as the deciding factor in their purchase.

It appears that in this price driven society there are still those who value policy features and cover level above finding the cheapest policy.

Price is obviously very important when it comes to deciding on any financial product and should be taken in to consideration with any prospective motor insuranc policy. Having said this – you should be careful to check you are receiving the features and level of cover you require.

You can make things easier by searching for manufacturer specific insurance such as; “ford car insurance”. This can help you achieve a better deal.

Source: http://www.articlealley.com/article_258979_19.html

Car Insurance: Mini motorbike offences drive up premiums

They are tiny bikes that reach great speeds and make a lot of noise. But police have had enough of youths creating havoc on mini-motorbikes and now have powers to seize the annoying and sometimes dangerous toys.
What's more, if children are riding these miniature vehicles on the pavement or road, they face prosecution just like adults. Any penalty points handed out by the court will be kept on file and activated as soon as they are old enough to apply for a driver's licence.

For those who have penalty points, it becomes increasingly expensive to gain car insurance. And with respect to mini-motorbikes, you could have a situation where children have been prosecuted for dangerous driving on these vehicles and then struggle to find an insurance company willing to offer them a policy to insure their car once they are at the age of 17 and have passed their driver's licence. The best case scenario is probably going to be that their premiums are sky high.

A spokeswoman for Direct Line Insurance says mini-motorbikes are now being treated as road vehicles and drivers of them have to abide by all the same traffic rules as anyone else. But while police can now prosecute youths on mini-motorbikes, they are not entirely sure yet what the nuisance makers will be prosecuted with. "You could get prosecuted for uninsured driving, paying no road tax or driving without a licence," she says.

She also points out that just how high insurance premiums will be for those with mini-motorbike offences will depend on what police prosecute the offenders with. "It depends on what the points are forFor a speeding offence it is not going to make a big difference, but for a drink driving offence it is going to make a massive difference."

She says for example of how prosecutions can drive up premiums, take an 18-year-old boy living in Hove, East Essex. The youth drives a 2001 Ford Fiesta car. He has been prosecuted for dangerous driving and has only had his driver's licence for a short time. To obtain fully comprehensive cover under a Direct Line insurance policy he would pay annual premiums of 2473.80. Without the conviction the price would be 1908.90.

What is interesting about this is that if you take a female of the same age, driving the same car and from the same area, she would pay just 1218 without a conviction and 1576.05 if she had a driving conviction. So she would in fact pay less for insurance even with a conviction than a male her age without one. Why the difference in price between young men and women? The spokeswoman says that it is because statistics show that one in three young men have a serious accident within their first year of driving.

A spokeswoman at the Association of British Insurers says the chances are if you have been caught speeding on a motor bike you are going to be more at risk behind the wheel of a car than others. It's a known fact that young men are the most at risk of having a car accident, which is why they pay so much more for their car insurance."I think they make up 3% of the driving population but account for over 30% of all of the driving convictions. It depends on the insurance company, but we (the insurance industry) insure on risk and therefore we calculate our premiums accordingly."

Source : http://www.articlealley.com/article_83943_63.html

Cheap Car Insurance

People in all ages have aspired to lead a comfortable life. A life with some luxuries. A feeling which always existed but fulfilling which was not always easy. Modern times, however, has changed all that. People now can spend on luxury items. Talking about luxury items, one item that must be included in the list is car. A feat people found it difficult to achieve earlier but thanks to several financial services getting a loan for purchasing a car is very easy now a days. What makes this offer even more attractive is the fact that the rate of interest is slashed considerably making it truly a friendly offer.

However, if after purchasing a car one thinks that one's trouble is over then one is sadly mistaken, for one has to now turn his attention towards protecting it. It is important, for repairing a car is very expensive and if one has not thought about it then one would end up paying exorbitant amount for the purpose. Car damage is a very viable threat simply because the rate of accidents are on constant rise. Even statistics attest this fact. The rate of accidents in UK in the last ten years have increased manifold. Cars are the biggest casualty and many times the damage inflicted is huge. It is here that car insurance comes into play and ensures that one is spared from the pains of arranging money for the repair of the car. Not only this the amount charge for this purpose is also so meager that it would only be right to term car insurance as cheap car insurance.

However, to gain from cheap car insurance one would do well to take care of a few things. First of all one must ensure that the policy comes to life as soon as it is signed, one must also see that what are the types of accidents that the car is protected from. Apart from it one must also see to it that no wrong information is provided to the insurance company as well as the fact that there is no default on monthly premiums.

If efforts like these are taken then one can be rest assured that cheap car insurance would go a long way in helping people out in the hour of crisis.

reference : http://www.articlealley.com/article_254783_15.html

Change a Flat Tire

Until the day comes when we are all piloting flying cars (and trust me, the day will come), our cars are stuck with these rubber things called tires. They roll nice and all, but they have a rather nasty problem of sometimes losing air. And without air, they become deflated and virtually useless.

Changing a flat tire is not a very pleasant experience. It seems like your car purposely tries to get a flat tire at the least opportune moments. Like when you are rushing home from work to catch your favorite episode of "Happy Days," for instance. You know, the one where Fonzie rides the killer bull while on vacation in Colorado.

Now, there are some of you who might be lucky and own a car with run-flat tires or a low tire-pressure warning system. If that is the case, you might be able to avoid the icky process. But even if you are a hapless soul, changing a tire doesn't have to be all bad. With knowledge comes power. If you are unsure how to change a tire properly, and you want to know, read on.

OK, so you are driving along and all of the sudden you hear a loud bang and the telltale thumping noise of a dead tire. You carefully pull off to the shoulder of the road. Checking to make sure no other motorists are going to run you over, you exit your vehicle and inspect the car. Sure enough, your car's left front tire is completely flat. You are not going to be able to keep driving, so you are going to have to remove it and install your car's spare tire in its place.

Jack up the CarThe
first step is to find your car's spare tire, jack and tire iron. The spare tire is almost always located underneath the floor mat in the trunk. Unless, of course, your car doesn't have a trunk. If you own an SUV, minivan or pickup, the spare tire is often mounted on the back of the tailgate or underneath the vehicle itself.

Once you have found the spare tire, remove it from the car. If you have an air pressure gauge handy, you will want to check the spare tire's pressure. If this tire is flat, too, you're in a bit of trouble. But let's just assume you have been keeping tabs on the spare tire's health, and its air pressure is perfect.

The next step will involve removing the flat tire. Make sure that the car is in gear (or in "park" if the car is an automatic) and the emergency brake is set. The car should be parked on a flat piece of pavement. Do not attempt to change a flat if the car is on a slope or if it is sitting on dirt. It's also a good idea to block the tire opposite of the flat tire. Therefore, if the left front tire is flat, it would be a good idea to place a brick or other large, heavy object behind the right rear tire. (Your cousin Fred might also be large and heavy, but it's not a good idea to use him to block the tire). Blocking the tire makes the car less likely to move when you are raising it.

Use the tire iron (the L-shaped bar that fits over the wheel lugs) to loosen each wheel lug. The wheel lugs are almost certainly very tight. You'll have to use brute force. Just think about how Mr. T from the "A-Team" would do it and try to be like him. Say to yourself, "Hannibal, I piddy da fool who can't break loose wheel lugs." You'll have those babies loose in no time. You loosen them by turning them counterclockwise, by the way.

Now, at this point, you don't want to actually remove the lugs. You just want them loose. Once you have accomplished this, move the jack underneath the car. If you don't know where the proper jacking points are, look them up in the owner's manual (you keep your owner's manual in your car, right?).

Maneuver the jack underneath the jack point and start to raise the jack. Most car jacks these days are a screw-type scissor jack, which means you simply turn the knob at the end of the jack using the provided metal hand crank. Raise the jack until it contacts the car's frame and continue expanding the jack.

Remove the Flat and Install the Spare
Raise the car with the jack until the flat tire is completely raised off the ground. Once this is done, remove the wheel lugs completely. Depending on how tight the lugs are you might be able to remove them by hand. Set the lugs aside in a secure location where they can't roll away.

Position the spare tire over the wheel studs. This is the most physically challenging part of the whole process. You'll have to hold up the tire and try to line up the holes in the wheel with the protruding wheel studs located on the brake hub. One trick that might help is to balance the tire on your foot while you move it into position.

After you have the spare tire hanging on the wheel studs, screw each of the wheel lugs back on. You'll want to start them by hand. Make sure you do not cross-thread them. The lugs should screw on easily. Once each of them is snug and you can't tighten them any further by hand, use the tire iron to finish the job. At this point, you don't need to get the lugs super tight. You just want them snug for now. Make sure that the wheel is fitting flush against the brake hub.

Once the spare tire is on, carefully lower the jack. Pull the jack away from the vehicle. The final step is to tighten down the lugs completely. The reason you tighten the lugs now is that the tire is on the ground and it won't rotate around like it would if it was still hanging in the air.

Wheel lugs have a specific torque rating that they are supposed to be tightened down to, but there is pretty much no way you can figure that out using a simple tire iron. The general rule here is to tighten down the lugs as much as possible. Again, think Mr. T. "I ain't flying on no plane with loose wheel lugs, Hannibal!"

That's it. Put the flat tire in the space where the spare tire was and put the jack and tire iron back in the car. Most compact spare tires are smaller than regular tires (they look dinky and people commonly refer to them as "rubber doughnuts"), so it is possible that the flat tire won't fit in the spare tire well. Also, compact spares have a limited top speed. The tire's top speed will be written on its sidewall. If your vehicle has a full-size spare, you won't encounter these problems. With the spare installed, you should be able to reach your house or the nearest service station.

reference : http://www.edmunds.com/ownership/howto/articles/43783/article.html

Saving Money on Auto Insurance

Saving Money on Auto Insurance
Auto insurance can dig deep holes in your pockets and you can save substantial amounts of money each year by choosing the right auto insurance. Taking the time to check out different car insurance companies and comparing their quotes can be a very good investment. You can often save several hundred dollars by choosing a licensed low-price car insurance company instead of some of the more expensive insurance companies. Today, the Internet has made it easier than ever before to rapidly gather information about insurance coverage and insurance rates from a multitude of insurance companies. Some sites will even collect the information for you and display easy-to-read spread sheets where all vital factors can be easily weighed against each other.

You can usually lower your car insurance rate further by installing an air bag, since the medical part of your car insurance will be cheaper. The car insurance company knows that you are less likely to sustain sever injuries in a car equipped with air bags. Some car insurance companies will offer you an even lower insurance rate if you install air bags not only for the driver but for the passengers as well. The same risk analysis will make your insurance rate drop when you install an anti-theft system, if you have a car insurance policy that covers theft.

Many insurance companies will offer discounts for certain groups, such a mature drivers, multi car families and militaries. Members of the National Guard and the Reserves are usually offered the same discount as militaries. Mature drivers receive a discount since they are statistically less accident prone than younger drivers. If you have a young driver in your family, you can however lower your insurance cost with some insurance companies by showing that the young driver has completed a driver's education program. Such insurance companies will usually also offer discounts for mature drivers that have completed a course in defense driving. If you are a multi-car family you should always bring this up when you negotiate your insurance rate with the insurance company and ask how large the discount will be if you insure all your cars with the company. Sometimes the car insurance rate can be decreased even further by insuring your car with your home insurance company or health insurance company. It is common for insurance companies to offer a wide range of different insurance policies.

If you have been fortunate and skilled enough to stay accident free for many years, you should find out how different car insurance companies will award you for this. The discount for accident free drivers can vary significantly between different car insurance companies and you can therefore save substantial amounts of money by shopping around. A five year long period that has been free of accidents is usually long enough to make you qualified for some type of discount. With some car insurance companies you will be offered a “surcharge waiver”. With a surcharge waiver, you will not loose your discount even if you are involved in one accident.

The auto insurance is not the only thing you should look at to improve your auto economy. Lets for example say that you where to buy a hummer (lets dream for a minute) than you shouldn't just check the Hummer Price but also other factors that effect the total auto cost like the Hummer gas mileage - MPG. By doing this you might find that a more expensive car actually can be cheaper all things considered.

reference ; http://www.ez-insurance.co.uk/car-insurance/saving-money-auto-insurance.php

Car Insurance Tips

Car Insurance Tips
You have come to the right place, if you are looking for information on how to get car insurance for your new or pre-owned auto or if you just want to get a better auto insurance quote. Car insurance premiums are based on certain criteria, for example most insurers assume that the annual average mileage is 12000 miles and if you do less than this you should tell your car insurance provider and the premium should be cheaper. Discounts also apply if you don't use your car to travel to work.

Certain car insurance providers focus on specific groups of people so using the Internet to shop around makes a lot of sense. If your car is garaged overnight rather than parked on a public road the car insurance premium will also be lower. If your spouse or partner is also to be covered under the insurance policy then it will be cheaper to name them rather than setting up the policy on an any driver basis.

Female drivers (believe it or not!) are statistically less likely to have an accident. You should also be aware that if you cancel your existing policy before a renewal date that part of the year would not count as a full year for no claims bonus calculations as only full years are taken into account.

Increasing Your Car Insurance Premium
Premiums even for careful drivers have increased over the years. This is because of a general increase in claims and payouts by car insurance providers. Premiums will also be subject to an increase if the standard car has been modified to increase its performance and if you use your car to commute to work in addition to social use.

UK car insurance providers apply a band of groupings to all cars from 1 the lowest risk to 20 the highest. If you have an expensive or rare car then it will probably fall into the most expensive high-risk bands. If you leave your car on a public road or highway rather than on your own driveway or garage the premium will be higher to reflect the greater risk of vandalism and theft. An immobiliser, steering lock and detachable stereo are deterrents to thieves and car insurance companies will take these into account.

If you live in a city then your premium will be higher than if you live in the country and nearly all UK car insurance providers will take into account the area's postcode.

Your sex, age, driving experience and history will also be assessed. Young males will pay higher premiums than older female drivers. Your occupation can also affect premium rates with sportsmen and entertainers heavily penalised.

reference : http://www.findcarinsurance.co.uk/

Guide to Popular UK Car Insurance Companies

Learn more about some of the UK's most popular car insurance companies including Norwich Union, Direct Line, Admiral, Budget and the AA by clicking on the links below.

Alternatively, why not compare quotes All improvements to security should help to lower your car insurance costs. Some insurers could even insist on sophisticated tracking devices before they will insure expensive cars.

Change your excess
Change the excess you are prepared to pay on any claim to reduce the premium. With voluntary excess the more you are willing to cover yourself in the event of an accident the lower your premium.

Check your mileage
Check your mileage to make sure you are not paying extra for miles you are not covering in your car. If, for example, you change jobs and have a shorter commute to work you could be saving money. Try and work out how many miles you will genuinely cover - but don't get it wrong as inaccuracy could jeopardise your claim.

Minimise your optional extras
Only select to have a courtesy car or legal expenses if you really need them, as they may increase your premium. The less your motor insurance company has to provide in the event of an accident, the lower your costs.

Be careful where you park
Keep your car parked in a locked garage overnight if you can - this can help reduce the premium. More than 50% of vehicle thefts occur during the night so if your car is safely locked away it makes sense that your insurance costs will be reduced as a consequence. If you don't have access to a garage, then parking on a driveway is generally considered a lower risk than parking on the road. It's less likely that vandalism, theft or accidental damage will occur when you're off the highway.

Pass Plus
If you're a new driver looking to get your first car and car insurance we'd highly recommend that you take your Pass Plus in order to reduce your premiums. The Pass Plus certificate can only be obtained within the first year of passing your practical driving test.

You'll be taking 6 lessons where you'll become competent in the following areas:

-Driving in town
-Driving out of town
-Driving in all Weathers
-Driving at night
-Driving on a dual carriageway
-Driving on a motorway

There is no test to take at the end of the course. When your instructor is satisfied with your performance you will receive a certificate from the Driving Standards Agency (DSA).

This certificate you will earn you large discounts with a whole host of insurance companies participating in the Pass Plus scheme.

reference : http://www.moneysupermarket.com

Insurance for women, young drivers and performance and classic car owners - 3/3

If you drive or own a performance or classic car then saving money on your car insurance could seem like an impossible task. However, there are deals and advantages out there for you, which is why moneysupermarket.com has produced a guide to help you cut your costs.

Performance cars
Most cars are given an insurance group ranking based on the level of risk involved with each car type and group (often based on likely repair costs). Generally, high-powered performance cars will be in the highest group (up to '20'), whereas a small car will be lower ranked and in theory should receive cheaper car insurance.

However, if you want to own or drive a high-performance car then consider waiting until you are 30+. If you are under 30 and male driving a sports car, then your premiums typically be very high.

There are also many car insurance companies that particularly target performance car drivers. Companies can request specific data on whether your car is kit built, classic, prestige, imported, modified, or simply has a powerful engine. Providing specifics can help to reduce costs.

Classic cars
For drivers of classic cars the car insurance market is looking up with an increasing number of companies offering specific classic car insurance deals.

These polices could take into account your age, whether your car is standard build, the age of the car, and of course the number of miles you plan to travel during the year (normally no more than 7,500 miles). It can also be an added advantage to use the classic vehicle as a second car on an insurance policy. Some policies are taken on an 'agreed value basis' – meaning the company must agree with your value of the car when you take out the policy – or the insurer may offer a classic car valuation.

Whatever your specific car insurance requirements may be, be sure to use moneysupermarket.com for the cheapest car insurance quotes around.

reference : http://www.moneysupermarket.com

Insurance for women, young drivers and performance and classic car owners - 2/3

At moneysupermarket.com we know the importance of keeping the cost of car insurance to a minimum. That is why we have produced a guide for specialist insurance groups. In part one we looked at women drivers. Now in part two we turn our focus to young drivers.

Young drivers
For young drivers, obtaining car insurance has often been a frustrating experience due to the sky-high premiums. It is a fact that younger drivers generally make more claims than their older counterparts, in part due to their lack of experience, and as such many insurance companies seem to price them out of the market.

However, more and more insurance companies are attempting to offer advantages to young, safe drivers. For example, some UK motor insurance companies have introduced a rapid bonus scheme, which runs for nine months rather than twelve, so the year's no claims bonus is obtained more quickly and the next year's premium reduces more quickly as a result.

Other companies offer young driver insurance, which will provide flexible payment options and cover for provisional licence holders.

The Pass Plus scheme is also a great way for young drivers to save cash over the long term. Pass Plus is a certificate option that follows a passed driving test giving the young driver specific lessons in night, motorway and town traffic driving that could be avoided in regular driving lessons. Achieving the Pass Plus can earn massive discounts (as much as 35%) on your car insurance.

Another suggestion for a young driver would be to add a parent to their policy as a named driver. An older, more experienced driver can cut costs. The reverse is true for parents looking to add teenagers to their policy. However, if it is unavoidable a way of reducing the cost is to minimise their insurance to a set period of time - for example during the holidays.

In part three we examine how drivers and owners of performance and classic cars can cut their costs.

reference : http://www.moneysupermarket.com

Insurance for women, young drivers and performance and classic car owners - 1/3

If you're a woman, young driver or performance or classic car owner looking for the best car insurance deal, then there are a number of factors that can help to put you in the front seat.

At moneysupermarket.com we want to help you find the cheapest car insurance quotes with the best cover for your motoring needs. That's why we have produced a guide to these specialist areas and their effect on your risk rating from UK motor insurance companies.

Women drivers
The majority of car insurance claims made by women are for relatively minor accidents when compared to their male counterparts. On average, women drive shorter distances, have lower mileage and often drive more cautiously than their male counterparts. That's why numerous insurance companies are emerging specifically targeting the female driver.

Many car insurance companies will offer cheaper deals for women; however they still have to factor males into the pot of money they set aside for claims. Consequently, car insurance companies have started to emerge which deal only with female customers. These companies believe that they can give the benefits back to the drivers through cheaper car insurance quotes and premiums. Female policyholders can even insure males as named drivers.

The advantages also apply to young female drivers with some companies offering young driver insurance to 17+ females as opposed to 19+ males, which, in turn allows young women to be fast tracked for their no claims bonus.

In part two we will take a look at the advantages on offer for young drivers.

reference : http://www.moneysupermarket.com

Car Insurance Guide

Our guide to car insurance contains all you need to know about finding the right type of motor insurance policy, how to lower the cost of your premium and what to do in the event of a claim.

If you want to go directly to another section of our guide to car insurance, you can click on one of the links below:

How to get the best car insurance deal
Car insurance is almost certainly the financial product most commonly held by consumers in the UK, with the possible exception of a bank or savings account. This is hardly surprising: if you drive a vehicle, insurance is compulsory.

In theory, this ought to make everyone a car insurance expert, able to get the best deal on their motor cover.

Yet too many of us tend to stick with the same insurer for too long and end up paying hundreds of pounds more a year than we need to. We only change policies when premiums become very noticeably too dear.

Conversely, we pat ourselves on the back because we have found ultra-cheap car insurance – only to discover that when we make a claim, certain items were never covered under the terms of that policy.

Shopping around is the starting point for anyone who wants the best car insurance deal. Our car insurance comparison tool allows you to search for and compare quotes from more than 50 top insurers and brokers in the UK.

But knowing how motor insurance works can help you get an even better deal – not just on price but in terms of the service you may need from your insurer. This guide is designed to help you achieve that.

It tries to answer some of the most typical concerns of motorists: everything from explaining how your quote is set and tips on how to cut the cost of your cover, to the various steps involved in making a claim.

We also offer a jargon-buster – explaining some of the more typical terms used when taking out car insurance.

reference : http://www.moneysupermarket.com

2007 Ferrari Hamann 599 GTB Fiorano, MAMA

Ferrari and Hamann – a combination to set the pulse racing of all fans of Italian sports cars. The vehicle tuning specialist from Laupheim, Germany, has various new details and a power boost up its sleeve for the latest model from the Maranello stable. The power is produced by fitting an Hamann high-performance sports header (export only), including racing catalytic converters, to generate an extra 53 bhp. This takes the peak power output of this V12 engine, already familiar from the Ferrari Enzo, up to a majestic 673 bhp. You will rarely encounter more power than this on the open road. As a result, Hamann has reduced the power-to-weight ratio from 2.5 to 2.3 kg per bhp.To ensure that everyone knows that the King of the Road is about to arrive, Hamann fits a sports rear muffler (export only) with 90 mm tailpipes both right and left.

Needless to say, the rear silencer is made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel and generates an even more awe-inspiring sound than its series production counterpart. In the series production version, the twelve-cylinder Berlinetta already sports a captivatingly and delicately swung body. Hamann adds a few new touches of its own to this body designed by star designer Pininfarina. For instance, Hamann styles the ‘face’ of this front mid-engined sports car with a spoiler, which generates greater downforce on the front axle. To match this perfectly fitting component, which blends harmoniously into the vehicle styling, Hamann also offers side sill panels, lending the 599 GTB a significantly more muscular appearance. The roof is adorned with a further spoiler, which in turn guides the air to an extravagantly designed rear wing. The latter generates downforce on the rear axle and stabilizes the Ferrari at high speeds. Since the 599 GTB is conceptually a race car for the road, Hamann decided to equip the rear end of this Italian muscle car with a three-piece diffuser that matches the rest of the technology. In conjunction with the rear wing, and true to the principle of ‘a beautiful rear can also endear’, the Hamann aerodynamics tuning suite shows its best side. In fact, the 599 GTB tuned and styled the Hamann way is truly a sight to behold from all sides.Hamann lands a perfect hit with the aerodynamics, which do nothing to disrupt the original design, but lend added impact to a number of details in striking style. Batman would certainly choose the Hamann Ferrari 599 GTB as the car he drives to work in. All aerodynamic components are available in fiber glass or Carbon-Kevlar.Hamann has opted for its own creation for the rims, called ‘Edition Race’. This three-piece, ultra-light, forged rim in a cross-spoke design and a black spider is notable for its nine main branching spokes each of which splits into two further spokes. In addition to the exciting design, the titanium wheel bolts are a particularly eye-catching feature. The stylish appearance is topped off by the mirror-finished rim flange. Needless to say, Hamann also offers the wheels as complete sets. Recommended wheel/tire combination: front 9.0 J x 21 / rear 12.0 J x 21 - 245/30 ZR21 / 345/25 ZR21.

On the inside, an exclusive set of floor mats in black lend the cockpit of this Ferrari a cozier touch. And of course Hamann will gladly customize any 599 GTB to suit a customer’s own individual needs. Extravagant leather upholsteries in various colors are available, as are extensive multimedia conversions featuring a DVD player, TV reception and a PlayStation.

reference : http://faditayyoun.wordpress.com/

Ferrari History

Enzo Ferrari was born in Modena Italy on February 18 1898. He came from a well to do family that owned a metal foundry making railroad parts, they were the first in his town to own a car. When WWI came Enzo’s father and brother (Dino) were drafted into the Italian army, whom both died from influenza in 1916. Enzo was forced to leave school to run the foundry, when the business collapsed he started work as a metalworker at the Modena Fire Brigade workshop in order to support his widowed mother. Enzo himself was later drafted into the Italian army where he worked shoeing mules for the mountain artillery, after a few months he becomming seriously ill and was released from the military. Not interested in going back to shcool and against his mothers will, he found work as a test driver in Turin in late 1918. Enzo then moved to Milan to work at CMN (Costruzioni Maccaniche Nazionali) as a racing car driver. His first real race came in the 1919, the Parma-Berceto, he then entered the Targa Florio that same year.

Enzo then founded Scuderia Ferrari, (literally means Ferrari Stable) who were mainly sponsers and trainers for Alfa Romeo. He was officially hired by Alfa Romeo as head of their racing department in 1938, then in 1940, upon learning of the company’s plan to take control of his beloved Scuderia, he quit Alfa. Since he was prohibited by contract from racing for several years, the Scuderia briefly became Auto Avio Costruzioni Ferrari, which ostensibly produced machine tools and aircraft accessories for Piaggio and RIV as Italy was gearing up for WWII. Ferrari did in fact produce one race car, the Tipo 815, in the non-competition period; it was thus the first actual Ferrari car, but due to the war it saw little competition.

In 1943 the Ferrari factory moved to Maranello, where it has remained ever since. The factory was bombed in 1944 due to making machines for ball bearing production, it was rebuilt in 1946 to include a works for road car production. The first Ferrari road car was the 1947 125 S, powered by a 1.5-litre V12 engine; Enzo reluctantly built and sold his automobiles to fund the Scuderia.

Since then, company cars, driven by the best drivers, have racked up over 5,000 successes on race tracks and roads all over the world, creating a legend. The most important achievements have been 9 Formula 1 Drivers’ World titles, 14 Manufacturers’ World titles, 8 Formula 1 Constructors’ World Championships, 9 wins at the Le Mans 24 Hours race, 8 at the Mille Miglia, 7 at the Targa Florio, and, up to the end of 1997, 113 wins in Formula 1 Grands Prix.

While Enzo’s beautiful and blazingly fast cars quickly gained a reputation for excellence, Enzo maintained a famous distaste for his customers, most of whom he felt were buying his cars for the prestige and not for racing. Ferrari has long been one of the ultimate toys for the rich and young (or young-at-heart). Ferrari cars feature highly-tuned small V8 and V12 engines, often in a mid-engined configuration. But until the introduction of fuel injection in the 1980s, they were quite temperamental and were dificult to maintain. Before the mid 1980s they carried a reputation for unreliability and bad engineering, though these were written off by enthusiasts as “character.” Ferrari owners have famously and religiously defended the merits of their cars while virulently criticizing other brands.

In 1969, to meet growing market demand, Enzo Ferrari sold 50% of the share capital to the Fiat Group, and investment that increased to 90% in 1988. In spite of this Ferrari has always maintained a strong autonomy, thanks to its specialist activities.

Enzo Ferrari died in Modena on August 14, 1988. As of the writing of this article, FIAT owns 56% of Ferrari, Mediobanca owns 15%, Commerzbank AG owns 10%, Lehman Brothers owns 7%, and Enzo’s son Piero Ferrari owns 10%.

reference : http://www.ferrarifaqs.com/ferrari-history/

Ferrari Cars

Ferrari, one word is enough! Definitely the most recognized brand in world of cars and motosport. And it belongs to Italy.Ferrari was founded in 1929 by Enzo Ferrari in Maranello, Modena, Italy.

From it's beginnings Ferrari always concentrated on racing cars and the legend is still alive. Today Ferrari represents prestige and status symbol and only the richest can afford a piece of "mean red machine"!

Why is Ferrari red?We have to go back to history to find the reason why. This can be done by going direct to the dealer or via an online car buying service that links to all the manufacturers.

The benefit of this method is that all warranties and safeguards are built in.

However, you must be prepared to negotiate a good deal, as franchised dealers can also a relatively expensive route to buying.

You may also be able to snap up a special deal on selected models, so checking offers and using the internet are a good way to keep track of these offers.

Another way to save a chunk of change is to import – and, as with buying any car, choose a well known and reputable company.

Why not check out deals now with Oneswoop. Oneswoop is one of the first and largest online car retailers in the UK. Our buying power enables us to have an extensive dealer network that provides us with excellent prices and services that we pass on to our customers. Our customers can save up to 25% on a new car and get discounts on cars that dealers will not discount. Recommended by Which Web Trader we are the hassle free and most secure way to buy a UK supplied new car online.

NEARLY NEW CARS
Realistically speaking ‘nearly new’ cars are new – the few miles on the clock are insignificant when compared with the amount of savings you can make.

A great way to get a new car at a knock down price is to get one classed as ‘nearly new’. In its first year, a car will depreciate by thousands of pounds. Even where a car has been registered for a while, then sold – and is then classed as “nearly new” - you can still make savings.

Nearly new cars can be bought from franchised dealers, car supermarkets, brokers and online..

You can get a cheaper deal from buying privately, but, unless you really know what you are doing, it is best to stick to purchasing from somewhere where you get some ‘security’ in case the vehicle fails.

If you aren’t a high mileage driver, then an ex-lease car could well be worth considering. These have good service histories and would have received regular services. Typcially, ex-lease cars are sold at around 60,000 miles.

When buying a vehicle, don’t forget to check the following:
-the documentation (both the V5 registration document and a purchase receipt for the car if it's a used car)
-ensure the seller is the registered owner, or is authorised to sell the vehicle
-that you read and understand any contractual information.
-if you are buying from a company, make sure it is well established and try to check out its reputation

Finally, never feel pressurised into signing or paying until you are sure it is the right car for you and that all the documentation is in order. If you feel pressurised, simply walk away and reconsider.

reference : http://www.motorcarloans.com/articles.htm

Auto Loan Basics

Chapter 1: Getting started
A car is one of the "big" purchases you will make. Before you get your heart set on a specific model, you need to know what you can afford.
Often when people go shopping for a car, they begin by looking at dealer or manufacturer Web sites to see what type they'd like to buy. Before that step, though, shoppers should figure out what their needs are, how much they can afford to spend, and decide whether they should buy or lease or choose a used car instead of a new one. This chapter will help you make those decisions.

Chapter 2: Shop 'til you drop
Shopping for a car should include online searches and dealer visits -- and looking for the best deals on financing and insurance, too.
After you've determined how much car you can afford, it's time to start shopping. Many people begin their research online, then visit a dealer. There they might learn about rebates and dealer incentives. A new trend is to use an intermediary to do the searching for you. This chapter will explain all of the options available to the buyer, as well as how to shop for financing and insurance.

Chapter 3: The buying experience
Don't be intimidated when you buy a car! We'll teach you everything you need to know to get your best deal.
Everyone fears getting taken advantage of by a car salesperson. That's why you need to know what you want and where you can negotiate. Here you'll learn the mistakes a buyer makes, where a dealer has flexibility to make a deal, the tricks you need to be aware of and what those advertising sales pitches really mean.
