On February 9, 2011 the Fine Arts Fiesta and Northeastern Pennsylvania lost one it’s most dedicated and committed supporters of the Arts, Howard B. Fedrick.

Howard began his journey with Fiesta in 1976—just as the event began evolving into a large, regional arts festival. Over his 35-year stay, Howard managed to institute an annual poster contest, active web site, annual “Friend of the Arts” award, an archive display and program guide.

Howard eventually became president of the board of directors. He led the board for 11 years, the longest tenure of any president. During this time the board, by his leadership, expanded the scope of the festival, now in its 56th year, to the region’s premier outdoor arts festival.
The board of directors is celebrating Howard’s legacy by dedicating this year’s 2011 Fiesta to his memory. The Fine Arts Fiesta also received many gifts in Howard’s honor, which stands as testimony to how many lives he has touched and influenced as a teacher, forensics coach, businessman, community leader, and friend.
