Terras de MonForte Red Wine 2009

Hello hello and hello...
Hope all is well with you!

Today I bring to the this blog a nice red wine, goes by the name of Terras de MonForte and it's a red wine from Alentejo!

This is a clean red wine, with a persistent garnet color.
On the nose, clean, young but evolving, medium intensity, red fruits and spiced.
In the mouth is dry with a good acidity, along with medium body... Also nice flavours of fruits, tannins, medium-intensity and ends with a long aftertaste.

In overall Terras de MonForte 2008 is of excellent quality at a very good price...

Goes very well with meat dishes or with a good presunto and cheese tasting evening... That's all for now... peace! :D

Herdade dos Grous Red Wine 2009

Another great red wine to add to the list!

Let me present you the Herdade dos Grous Red wine!
I tried this red wine out because of my wife...
Yes, see also enjoys drinking good red wine!

So, I was looking at the wines, to buy some and I told her I didn't know what to pick...
So she told me that Grous was a good red wine, she said she read about it in a magazine or something...

So I didn't hesitate, and got me a bottle of Herdade dos Grous 2009.

This wine as a deep garnet color, tastes delicious with notes of fruit... and leaves am extended flavor in the mouth...

I do recommend this wine with a good meat dish, a roast or something like the line of this...

Gadiva Red Wine 2007

Hi there,

Today I bring here a simple red wine!

Gadiva is the name, this red wine was a awesome surprise...

Not an expensive wine and yet it has a very good quality!

The color is ruby red.
The aroma is intense and very fruity.
Presents a ripe fruit like berries, with hints of vanilla, from slight barrel aging. The palate is fruity and very tasty also.

Well structured, has soft tannins and balanced acidity, giving you a very nice mouth intensity. The finish is long and tasty.

This notes about Gadiva Red Wine define well this wine, it's a very good cheap wine to have in your stack for sure... ;)

Definitely a good choice to drink with good meat dishes...

This is a good red wine that I had with some grilled pork meat in a restaurant in Évora!

It was recommended by the waiter, and he did a nice job by doing so..

Bottom line... it's a good red wine to try out...

Pequeno Pintor 2007 Red Wine

Pequeno Pintor was a fine surprise!
This red wine has a delicious flavor that sticks along the tongue...

It is indeed a wine to repeat and repeat!

If anyone can get a hand on a bottle of this wine, then take that change and try it out!

Now seriously, today I bring you Magna Carta red wine from Alentejo...

I bought this wine and didn't expect that it would be so damn good... :)

Good color, fantastic aroma and...
IT tasted simply amazing in the mouth...

For sure an experience to repeat!
It will be on my to repeat list.

Yes I could go and start writing more about this wine saying yada yada grapes this grapes that...

But it's as simple as this...
Magna Carta is a red wine that goes well with a decent meat dish or something like a table of good cheeses and decent ham...

Montes Claros Red Wine 2009

Hello, been a while since I posted here...

But as I said before, I only post good wines...

At least to me and people that drink them with me, and also I've been a bit busy... :)

So back to talking about wine!

Today I bring a great red wine.

From the harvest of 2009 the Montes Claros red wine is simply fantastic!

It's a wine from Alentejo, and I've became a fan of this one....

I 1st tried Montes Claros red wine while spending a weekend at Évora, the waiter at the hotel restaurant pointed out this red wine as a good one, I took his advice and I can't say I'm sorry...

Hum, well a bit of info on this red wine doesn't hurt...

So Montes Claros is a wine from the Adega de Borba, if you follow the previous link you can find information about this nice red wine....

Final note one this red wine... I've bought another bottle and will say only this, no one complaint... :)

Aragonez Cortes de Cima Red Wine 2007

So for the 1st wine of new year of 2011, I've selected the red wine Aragonez Cortes de Cima!!!

And quite frankly I will make it simple.. why because this is a really MUST TRY red wine!

You just need to open the bottle let it breath a bit and then serve with a decent meat dish, because Aragonez Cortes de Cima red wine deserves to be drink along with a great meal!!

This red wine is without a doubt in my top 10 of red wines, and so it's a must have bottle in the wine collection :D

The only down side of this wine is that it isn't a very cheap wine, but calm down :), it not also a very expensive one... This is why I said it should be drink with a really decent enjoyable meal!! :)

I've tried before another red wine from Cortes de Cima, also an excellent choice.
It's the Cortes de Cima Red Wine Also from 2007...

Confused by the name??? eh eh eh...

Final note, I recommend Aragonez Cortes de Cima, you wont regret it!!!

Malo Tojo 2008 Red Wine

This ruby-coloured wine has a pleasant aroma of red fruits and with distinct hints of vanilla.
Results from a blend of Castelão, Aragonês and Touriga Nacional varieties from wineyards located between Tejo and Sado rivers.
Grapes produced employing IPM strategies.

So here it is another red wine... Malo Tojo (funny name).
I've tried a 2008 bottle and I liked it!!
Well I could just say like in the description above, pleasant aroma of... bla bla...
But NO! I will just say my opinion about this wine...
Malo Tojo 2008, I opened the bottle like 20-30 minutes before consuming, letting the wine breathe a bit to open up...
Has for the taste, well it a good wine on the mouth with a little acid flavour in the end... (I like it, some people don't)

So I will recommend trying Malo Tojo out, specially with a nice meat dish or a well condiment pasta dish! :)

Should be served between 16º and 18ºC.

Couteiro Mor Red Wine 2009

Couteiro....Mor.....RED.... WINE! OH YEAH!

Another fine selection! Yeah good quality red wine this Couteiro-Mor 2009!
Not an expensive wine and good on the glass... and even better on the mouth!
This red wine goes perfectly with grilled meat dishes! It's a winner combo!
With this said, I advice you to try it! Why? Well why not?! hehehe...
I will leave you now a quote about this wine....

We chose 3 typical Portuguese grape varieties to compose this blend: Aragonez, Castelão and Trincadeira. Should be served at 16 - 18 ºC.

As you see it doesn't say much... but it's a good buy and re-buy! :D

Bucellas White Wine 2009

Today I bring you a cheap white wine!
Never the less, don't think it's a bad wine...
In reality is really a decent-good white wine to try out!
This a nice wine to have with fish dishes or just as and appetizer at the end of a day... ;)

Intense citrus slight greenish hints. Aroma typical of the Arinto varietal, predominant in exotic and citrus fruits, flowers and white pulp fruits. Fruity flavour, lively freshness, harmonious and very elegant.

Cor citrina definida com ligeiros tons esverdeados. Aroma característico da casta Arinto onde se destacam os frutos tropicais e os citrinos, flores e frutos de polpa branca. Sabor frutado, frescura viva, harmonioso e elegante.

Couteiro-Mor White Wine 2009

We chose 3 typical Portuguese grape varieties to compose this blend, Antão Vaz, Arinto and Roupeiro, and added a touch of Chardonnay.

The menir shown on the logo can be found in our estate, the 'Herdade do Menir'.

Classified as a National Monument it belongs to the megalithic period (III melenium b.C.)

Well... What can I say about this white wine...
When I was looking for wines, the last time I was shopping, I wanted to buy some white wines, to be different, hehehe....

That's when I notice this white wine, Couteiro-Mor 2009!
I thought to my self "Hum! This wine seems a bit cheap. But it has a recommendation as 'Best Buy' from a nice wine magazine!".

So I bought it and put the Bottle into the fridge...
Well I will just say that I was quite surprised!
This is indeed a great white wine to have around and I must say it's a GREAT BUY!

Seiçal Madeira White Wine 2006

Wine made from Verdelho (Madeira) and Arnsburger (Riesling) grappes in Seixal - northern part of Madeira Island.

Wine with a citrine colour, fruit and mineral aromas.

Mouth-feel show a good balance, fresh structure and dry.

Produzido no Seixal, freguesia da Costa Norte da ilha da Madeira em terrenos de fajã, pedregosos, ricos em matéria orgânica, profundos, a partir das castas, Arnsbuguer (riesling) e Verdelho da Madeira.

Vinho de cor citrina, com notas de marmelo fresco, fruta citrina e algum mineral.
Na boca mostra um bom equilíbrio, uma estrutura fresca, agradável e persistente. Seco.

Well my opinion on this white wine from Madeira is that you must try it!
Should be served at 10º - 12ºC and goes very very very well with a fish dish!!!

I must see if I can find this wine in Portugal Mainland...

Pousio 2008 Red Wine

Na vertente sul da serra de Portel, Vidigueira, os solos xistosos dominam.
é ai que na Herdade do Monte da Ribeira, encontramos as vinhas de Syrah, Trincadeira e Alicante Bouschet que dão origem ao Pousio tinto.
De cor rubi e aroma penetrante é um vinho ideal para acompanhar pratos de caça e queijo.

On the south-facing slopes of the Serra de Portel, Vidigueira, schist soil is dominant.
There, on the Herdade do Monte da Ribeira, we can find the Syrah, Trincadeira and Alicante Bouschet grape varieties that are used to make the red Pousio.
Ruby-red, with a penetrating aroma, it is an ideal wine to accompany game dishes and cheeses.

So, apart from that wine description....
This is a tasty red wine for sure, and from my experience... asks for more that one bottle to be opened, if you know what I mean.

This one is a great company for a nice spicy meat dish dinner...
If you want to make a good impression that take a note on this one ;)

Migas 2008 Red Wine

Para acompanhar a boa cozinha portuguesa, sejam pratos de carne, pratos de peixe bem condimentados, ou queijos, exige-se um grande tinto, este Migas, que tem como base as castas Trincadeira, Aragonês e Alicante Bouschet, foi vinificado com todo o esmero, em pequenas cubas, a uma temperatura controlada de 26ºC...
Apresenta uma bela e brilhante cor rubi, exala agradáveis aromas de frutos vermelhos maduros, que se combinam na perfeição com as emanações de especiarias e fumados resultantes do estágio em madeira.
É muito envolvente e macio, com o frutado e as especiarias a ressaltarem do conjunto bem estruturado, que deixa boas memórias de boca.

Now to me... this is a good wine to "have around"...
Why? Because it's a red wine that goes well with a decent meat meal, or a nice spicy fish dish...

Or just because you invited some friends over and want to over a decent red wine along with a nice table of cheese to enjoy a nice sunny afternoon...

Bottom line, this is a wine to try... and repeat ;)

Red Wine Quinta dos Patudos 2001

Quinta dos Patudos is one of the most notable Ribatejo House, in a partnership with Caves Velhas, introduces this excellent wine.

Carrying a strong color, Ruby Red, which is dense and brilliant, and with complex scents of mature fruit , well linked with oak allier in the mouth is full and strong but balanced and with a notable stickiness.

Now I think this is a nice wine, I really enjoyed this one (that's why I'm posting about it).

From the description of this wine you don't get much, so I'm going to say what I think of it.

I think it goes well with a good meat dish, goes very well in the mouth, it's not one of those acid wines... The taste is very pleasant in the mouth!

Let me just finish by saying that, you will mostly impress some one by serving this wine! :P

Red Wine Marquês de Marialva 2006

Hi there today I bring you a cheap wine...
but never the less a good one ;)
It's a red wine from the Bairrada region...

Here some info about this wine:

The red 2006 Marquês de Marialva Reserva comes from Portugal's Bairrada appellation.
Light cherry red in the glass, an unexpectedly terrific nose of spicy oak and vanilla, black earth and truffles leapt out of the glass. Simple, crisp and light bodied on the palate with decent fruit - a "Bojo meets Rioja" treat.
Probably the best wine I have ever tasted at this price point, and a wine that should pair easily with lighter or heavier meat dishes.

My personal opinion of this is wine is.... Great!
Yes, this wine is a very nice wine, and also very very affordable....
It's a very good choice for a meat dish indeed ;)

But, I leave (as always) the final opinion to you... ;)

Hello,

It's Summer time... and what is better than a good cold white wine, in these hot summer days...
ok ok, there are a lot of better things, eh eh eh....
But never the less...
A good fish dish with the company of this great white wine, is a win win situation ;)

I must confess I'm not really a whtie wine lover... but this one is (for me) one of the best white wines out there for sure...

So... this just leaves me to say...
If you can, TRY Pera Manca white wine...

Conde De Palma Red Wine 2006

First some history about the Conde de Palma red wine.

D. António Mascarenhas da Costa was the first count of Palma(XVII), and of Palma land, Alcaide-Mor of Trancoso and Castelo de Vide, nowadays a town in Fronteira district.

This wine produced with the grapes varieties Trincadeira, Aragonez and Alicante Bouschet places a tribute to the historical connection of this illustrious family to this this region.

Well... now for what really matters...
My opinion on this red wine, it's a OK wine...
You must be asking your self "What does an OK wine mean???"...

Well it means that the wine is good.... but....
I had better for the same quality / price...

So I will just say this...
If you occasionally pass by this wine, give it a shot... ;)

Palha-Canas Red Wine

The "Quinta" (Estate) is situated on seven sunny slopes with day and limestone soils.

The Atlantic also has a highly beneficial influence on the local climate.

This wine is produced using grapes carefully selected, traditional methods and oak aging to help develop its characteristics.

The wine varieties are Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and also Catelão (Periquita) and Camarate.

This is the description of the wine...
Now what I can tell you is that this red wine for it's price / quality factor its money well spend...

I've enjoyed Palha-Canas red wine with a red meat meal...
And we didn't stay for only one bottle :P

So, I have no problems in saying....

Try this red wine ;)

Red Wine Cortes de Cima 2005

Made exclusively from selected grapes hand picked at optimum maturity from our own vineyards.

Fermented without stems under temperature control, frequent delestage, followed by extended skin maceration to enhance varietal fruit characters, and to provide tannin structure and balance.

Aged for 12 months in French (80%) and American (20%) oak barrels, and then blended to give balanced varietal fruit and oak components. Bottled, unfined and filtered in June 2007.

Well after this technical description of this wine, all that I can say is TRY IT!

It's a strong wine, but as a great taste and goes well with red meat...

What? Ohh, you are wondering if it's a wine that can go with cheeses and ham...
My answer is yes, it's really a great red wine :)

There is only one side note to this wine, it's above the average wine so prepare your self to spend a bit more...

Lusitano Red Wine - Must Try!

The herdade Monte da Ribeira and Herdadinha belong to the Leal da Costa family, descendats of Count of Ervideira, successful farmer in the XIX and XX century. The Count, who received is title due to his family's work in that region, began producing wine in 1880.
With 160ha of vineyards divided by Vidigueira and Reguengos, Ervideira's administration is assured by D. Maria Isabel, the family's matriarch and by her six sons, beeing Duarte Leal da Costa the executive manager. Oenology is Paulo Laureano's responsabilty.

Producer: Ervideira Sociedade Agrícola
Region: Alentejo, Portugal

Granach deep color showing youth.
Average intensity nose, showing good fruit with notes of orange peel and redcurrants.
Is very smooth in the mouth with well tamed tannins, the structure is acceptable and the ending fits well with the rest.

Well long story short....
This is a great red wine (at least for me).
I would recommend you to try it out...
This red wine I will repeat for sure :D

Porca de Murça Red Wine

Produced from traditional varieties of the Region, the grape selection originates from old vine
parcels in typical microclimates and soils bordering tributaries to the Douro river. After
fermentation under rigorously controlled conditions, the wine aged in small barrels, 50% of
which were new Portuguese oak. The resulting wine exhibits nicely integrated aromas of wood,
vanilla and ripe red fruit flavour.
While possessing a deep colour and full body, the taste impression is round and extremely
smooth.
Served at room temperature, the preferred accompaniments are meat plates and strong cheeses.

As for my personal opinion, I must say I really loved the taste of this red wine...
The price of this red wine may seem a little expensive...
But for a special occasion it's worth... :)

I will keep this one in my Drink More Of This List :D

Produced from the grape varieties of Aragonês, Trincadeira, Alicante Bouchet and Touriga Nacional, this wine shows a strong garnet colour and a dense wild fruits aroma.

Smooth and well structured in the mouth, the tannins and the acidity are perfectly balanced in the plentiful fruit.

It still shows a good potencial for a nice development in the bottle.

Having said that, I can tell you that this is a red wine I will repeat for sure.. ;)

Lindemans Bin 45 Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

Lindemans Bin 45 Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

This wine is a medium to full bodied Cabernet Sauvignon that combines dark
berry fruit and cassis flavours with hints of chocolate and mint.
The finish is stylish, long and juicy.

Cassis and bramble fruit aromas meld with dark fruit notes and
subtle spiced touches is what your nose will encounter :)

As for my personal opinion... well this wine didn't convince me....
