Texas Scramble for the Wednesday ladies last week, thanks for the update Pat. Top team was Anne Woodger, Sally Baker and Angela Hubble on 33 points, from Thea Durbin, Pauline Bott and Pat Greenfield on 33.1 points. Third team were Sue Cocks, Jenny Shrimpton, Norma Gillson and Chris Wood. By my reckoning, that leaves Anne Woodger still holding on to the top slot on the Wednesday Winter League.

Saturday was the most glorious weather, a bit chilly but brilliant sunshine and no wind. What a change from the previous week. Anyway, enough from the Met Office. 8 ladies played medal, in teams of 4, the intention being that the best two scores in each team would count. Well, that was the original plan, but this resulted in a draw, so it went to the 3rd highest score. Winning team was Anne Wodger,Ann Short, Anne Hazelwood and Michelle Underwood. Close second, by one solitary point, were Thea Durbin, Yvonne Alford, Sandra Townsley and Mary Smith. Michelle Underwood retains her position at the top of the Saturday Winter League.

Looking forward to the summer season, please do not forget to sign the nominated day of play sheet on the notice board, it will become relevant when the summer season starts. The sign up sheets for the summer competitions will be available soon, most with a deadline so don't miss them. Following the recent Devon AGM, we do have flyers from other clubs about their Open competitions and coffee mornings + golf, and they will shortly be available in the usual folder in the changing rooms. Looks like a good way to see other courses at less than the usual cost. Also good preparation for our inter club matches?

Please keep the news coming

Catching up on the Saturday results as I thought I had missed something

14 January 2012 was the Unique Greensomes event, won by Michelle Underwood and Amanda Windsor, from Bernadette Maynard and Ann Hazelwood with Pat Greenfield and Yvonne Alford in third place

21 January 2012 was a very blustery day, but 6 stalwarts turned out for the three person Texas Scramble. Winners were Michelle Underwood, Ann Hazelwood and Thea Durbin.

The Winter League shows no change for Saturday, Michelle Underwood is still top, but Wednesday shows a change as Anne Woodger goes top

> Ladies Results 18 January 2012

Winter League is in full swing and it is still tight at the top.

Wednesday 18 January was Unique Greensomes, won by Sue Cocks and Joan Cook with 20 points. By virtue of a better back 3, Angela Hubble and Molly Hutchings took second place from Anne Woodger and Bernadette Maynard, on 18 points. Thank you Pat Greenfield, Wednesday rep, for the prompt results.

Wednesday 11 January was a team competition and it apears that there were some odd numbers (unless I am misreading the League sheet). Top slot went to Chris Wood and Anne Woodger, from Sally Baker, Jean Cardy and Angela Hubble, and Sue Bulford, Sue Cocks and Molly Hutchings in third place.

Saturday 7 January was hidden pairs which must have taken some organisation with only 5 contestents. Top pair were Michelle Underwood and Anne Hazelwood, from Amanda Windsor and the secret sixth player, and Yvonne Alford and Anne Woodger.

The 2012 sheet for nominated day of play is now on the noticeboard so please make your selections in time for the summer season.

The entry sheets for the summer competitions will be there soon, so sign up for a summer of fun. The Par Tree will now cost £1 to enter but it is still only open to 36 handicaps. Ellen Norton will be monitoring the par scores for this select bunch of entrants so there will be no need to sign the book each time you score a par.

Loads of social events on the board so update your diaries.

Keep the news coming,
