After many years of doing this podcast using the name Fireball XL5 I have decided to change the name to the one I use for my DJ nights: The Coolest Thing About Love

I feel this better represents the type of music I play and be assured that the show will continue to feature the best recent indie pop that I can find, along with some ventures into funk and soul as usual.

The first song of the show by Morly is a great down-beat, haunting tune that started a set that went together well. The next set featured a song by Molly Nilsson that could have also been my top song, see the link for the video below. I ended with a set of funk for the first time in a while

Fun fact about this show: It wasn't until after that I realized that I played both a song called "Un-American Woman" and one titled "All American Girls".

I finally got around to spotlighting the great festival called Indietracks which takes place each year in a historical train station in England. I have never been to the festival but if there is no NYCpopfest again next year I will have to look into it. As well they always put out a compilation of the bands that are playing each year, from that I got my first set and my Top Song.

My recap of this year's NYC Popfest ( http://www.nycpopfest.org/ ) which, as always, was great. As usual it was a mix of great band starting out as well as ones from the 80s who got together and played the Popfest. Also continuing the pattern of band from far away (Sweden, UK, Australia, New Zealand) and an indie-pop related movie. I hope that I will have the opportunity to go again next year.
