When I was in the throes of infertility, one of the things I used to dream about was having a little girl who loved ballet. When I gave birth to Avery, all of my dreams came true and I really didn’t even care if she hated ballet (though I’m glad she loves it!) I had my little girl and that was all that mattered. Since she has an October birthday, most schools wouldn’t take her in September since she wasn’t quite 2. I persisted until I found one that would. This is her 3rd year taking ballet (and second taking tap) and she just eats it up. Her recital is coming up in May and I can hardly wait (I cry every single time!). I did her costume pictures a few days ago and wanted to share some of my favorites. I can’t believe she is 4 1/2 already. No matter how big she gets, she’ll always be my little ballerina girl.

I love doing newborn photography. I think working with babies and new parents is one of the greatest joys I’ve ever had. Not to mention that I get to use my creativity while I work. It just doesn’t get any better than this. Isn’t this little guy just precious?

There’s not much I can say about this image except that this little girl was super sweet and this shot is one of my faves. I think in this instance, pictures speak louder than words!

Last week I attended a long-awaited workshop with one of my favorite newborn photographers, Laura Brett. I’ve known Laura online for years but this was my first opportunity to meet and train with her. I’ve been planning on mentoring with her for about 2 years, but this was the first opportunity I had to make it happen. I booked this workshop last summer and have been impatiently waiting for it to come!

I’ll share more about the workshop over the next few days, but for now an image I shot while there. Isn’t she just the sweetest thing?

We definitely wanted more kids, but we had just booked our 10th anniversary vacation to bora bora for next march. We were going to wait until after that to start trying again. That’s ok though, the trip will just have to be postponed a few years, lol.

Anyway, I wanted to share my big announcement with everyone through a picture. We did this with just me and the girls and the timer on my camera. Notice the outtakes below. It was not easy!

Little Miss “I” was just a dream to work with! We tried a ton of poses, hats, headbands, and she just slept like a dream. When she was awake she just studied me with her big curious eyes. I photographed her brother when he was a newborn and was so excited to see mama get her little girl. Thanks K family!

The “A” family traveled to me for their session from Williamsburg. Mr. D was so sweet and full of personality. At 1 month old, I warned mom that he may not want to be curled up and sleepy like the shots she was expecting. Thankfully, he gave us the best of both worlds. Mr. D slept some and then studied me with his big beautiful eyes while I snapped away. I had a ball working with him and his parents.

What a sweet little family these four were. Not only did they have a beautiful little girl, Miss G (check out those stunning eyes!), but they now have a perfect little boy, Mr. G, to round out their family. Both parents were incredibly sweet and their kiddos were absolutely darling. I’m sad that they don’t live in the area anymore, but I hope they will stop in for a session when they are visiting!
