We made it to episode 100 and as such we were very very very drunk, and a few months ago the Fandible (Website) challenged us to do a whole episode in American Accents.

Finally get to run the End of the World having failed to the first time due to illness. In this episode we have Hardwick, Loka, and Bloodied playing Hardwick, Loka, and Bloodied as they turn up to a Roleplaying Session at Cult Headquarters only to find that Mawdrigen (their GM) is not present. The only thing in his place is a post it note telling them to come inside and a whole host of Hell New Yogis posters.

Has their GM been swept up in the Hype for this Kawaii Metal Band? Why are all the Police heading towards the Metal Concert? Why is Loka’s first response to anything resembling not the ordinary to seize knives?!?

On Henri’s fine train travelling to the Gulf of Nodens to cast aside their fears (if they can think of any) they continue to meet with their fellow travellers. Reaching Dyath-Leen several people get on the train, well, people and Things.

Will the disgusting beings from Ib prove to be as disgusting in action as they are in view, and what of the beautiful people from Sarnath? Will they buy wine from the Wine merchant? Who is the Dancer who appears late to the train?

Worse still Oldstaff has already made enemies on the train, although Clarrissa seems to be getting on well with Madame Brujah the severe Elizabethan widow.

Peril stalks the Dreamlands Express, and heinous crimes will be committed. Someone will have to step up to solve the crisis but will the players prove up to the task…

The Gang dealt with Brochan dissappears off with Julian Fannah, and leaves the rest of his team to deal with the whole fighting ghouls in a dark basement bit…

So they open the door and despite having a drone right there Leonid takes point. Will the Ork Samurai survive not only the Ghouls but the “supporting” fire from Ruffles the Drone and the other Shadowrunners?

With their job secured they begin trying to work out exactly what they are going to actually do about it. Their Air Spirit has given them a basic layout of the place complete with eyes on walls, and flappy things…

Now they need to work out how to actually break a Type 47 reactor without having to take the thing to bits one step at a time. With Saederr Krupp not putting the schematics on the Matrix in case someone uses them to blow them up, they need to locate someone with the knowledge.

Or someone who has a Saederr 47 reactor just lying around. Enter Bob Robinson, London city planner.

I am incredibly unhappy with the sound quality on this one. There were again some sound issues, but of course they were different sound issues from the ones I had finally fixed. This has caused a few words being skipped here and there as they were obscured by crackling. I will make an attempt to adjust the microphones again for the next recording. We are also trying to sort the issue regarding Loka not knowing when other people are talking (damn you Skype)

After a slightly anarchic start what with time scheduling and reading the schedule list wrong and thinking this was episode 90 for a bit, then looking at the Paris map for ages finally the Investigators settle down to look at their options.

It turns out they have leads for both Poissy and Charenton Asylum. With Comte De Fenalik’s villa being at Poissy, and that being the last known resting place of the Simulacrum they decide to do that first.

Reaching the town they begin their investigations, but will they locate the item they wish to find.

Because the last episode was fairly short I have released this one early to make up for it!

With Fenbyarl being very very dead, which will likely cause issues between the Ravens Court and the Earls Court, Sleagh has granted them a headstart before the hunt inevitably begins. Given it’s highly likely our merry band of miscreants will be made the scapegoats if a war threatens, they do the obvious thing… They leg it.

But the Raven’s Court is a labyrinth, so actually escaping is more of a trial than expected, especially when they almost immediately get captured by the Dust Tribes!

Will they survive the oddly lint-obsessed tribe of maniacs? If they do can they even escape the castle? Can they make it home?

Having started their researches in Paris the investigators continue attempting to hunt down clues about the Sedefkar Simulacrum and its previous owner the Comte De Fenaliché. Not knowing what forces are arranged against them however, anyone could be a worshipper of the Skinless one, or worse.

Follow us now as the investigators continue their researches and also their tourism. With the Ambassadors letter getting them access to the Bibliotech Nationalé, they continue their researches, and then press on following up different clues.

First though, they take a trip to some Art dealers and then they head down to the Catacombs of Paris for more tourism!

With the Shadowrunners hired to render the Biology concerns generator offline for a certain period of time, they continue attempting to do their due diligence and you know research the target before just rocking up to the place with all the guns.

Realising that the Saederr-Krupp type 47 is a strong little reactor they start trying to think of ways to wreck the thing, but first they need more information! Matrix Searches, Drone Reconnaissance, Spirits, they try it all, but will they get bored and just kick the door in? Will their spirit of air manage to bring them back useful information or will the fact that its a spirit and doesn’t understand the material world mean its information is, shall we say, less than useful.

With the Doom train finally dealt with they get back to actually saving the world and so they… get on a train!

Travelling to Paris they start their researches trying to find the location of the Sedefkar Simulacrum, particularly the previous owner known as the Comte De Fenalique. They believe that at least one part may remain in France with the the rest having been scattered all over Europe.

Of course getting into the Bibliotechque National takes time… So why not do some (A LOT) of tourism first.

Luckily most of them speak French, shame it’s not the ones that are great at dealing with libraries really.

Trapped on the train Issey and Warfstache work with the slightly insane Randolph Alexis and the terrified Henry Stanley to try and escape the pocket universe which is slowly filling up with shadows of the doom train.

Outside the pocket universe Sadie and Clarrissa (and an Oldstaff who has knocked himself out on the bookshelves) try desperately to retrieve their friends. Somewhat hampered by Clarissa’s incessant hysterical laughing, they begin to plan their next move. In typical fashion… its a really good (!?) one.

Faced with frankly awful tea we dived into the Cthulhu Mythos to try and escape.

The potentially deadly train set secured the investigators did the obvious thing, they played with it! The train unfortunately appeared as well! surrounded by 1890’s revenants with Clarissa laughing uncontrollably and Warfstache in something of a Psychotic Fugue Izzey gets nabbed! This leaves Sadie and Oldstaff as the only competent people in the room.

What will the Investigators do, has the train claimed another victim… Or will they find some way to save her! What will the delusional Warfstache do?!?

Having finished the Diary of Professor Smith the Cthulhu team remember that they were going to Stoke Newington to look into the disappearance of Mr Henry Stanley, who had recently bought a train set of all things from the shop of Mr Mehmet Makryat.

Smelling a rat they decided to check into it on the basis that… well if they don’t deal with it now they will be on the continent potentially for months before they get back for it.

Will they be able to work out what has happened in this the first episode of the Doom Train?

Baron Von Hoeffler has finally arrived and immediately takes charge of the situation, although the Players worry that his immediate response of “go and murder Menkaph and his compatriots and take their Fezzes” might be a little bit too direct action for them. Added to the fact they keep tripping over Chinese Ladies in the corridor, and Menkaph has made it clear he will stop at nothing to get the book and the other Fez back, its all looking a bit bleak.

In London Below a rag tag band of those who were lost have come together for mutual protection. In the highly stratified and highly factional London below the London we know however the politics and alliances of the world could rise up and destroy them at a moments notice.

So when they are dispatched by the Golden of the Rat-Speakers to witness the Day Ritual of the Raven’s Court it’s concerning. When that ritual is revealed to be a re-crowning of the King in Rags and Tatters it becomes ever more concerning.

Episode 62

Waking up next to a skinned man in the British Library is not the best way to start the day, but it is all a matter of course for Cthulhu Investigators. Getting over this shock they continue their studies, trying to work out where the Sedefkar Simulacrum might be hidden.

They also finally decide to look into Mehmet Makryat, the man who died three times in one night. Of course this involves a break in, and none of them is too skilled at that.

Finally we begin what will be our Epic play through of Horror on The Orient Express. We start however with an introductory adventure “Still Waters of Norfolk” for which this session acts as the first session.

A somewhat eclectic mix of people are drawn together at the Dalley-Delmorte foundation, a foundation that works to rehabilitate people who have fallen foul of the various fake religions and cults that are prevalent in England.

Invited by Henry Terrence-Smythe, the chairman of the foundation, surely there must be more to this than just a nice meal in the center of London.

And what of the other members of the Foundation, Madame Hrovlska, who may be some form of mystic, the Jocular Professor Smith, and the friendly Tolliver Danvers-Dalley. There are also the other guests, Jackson Elias who is some form of writer in the Americas, and the Marques Faighthannaughy (pronounced Fan-how), who is best described as a cold-fish.

Further Information: In the previous campaign Il Porcupino played Mitsy Dalley, Archive played Henry Terrence Smythe, and Nyx played Rowena Towers. Bloodied played a vast number of people, and Hardwick played The Patriach Horace Dolby.

We have decided not to play Descent any more as it’s so balanced it annoys us all equally! So instead for the 50th Episode we play Kobolds Ate My Baby! Anal Dave, Beep, and Naked Jon go forth from the caves to try and get food to keep King Torg (ALL HAIL KING TORG) from eating them.

Obviously being Kobolds they are not well suited to this task. Will they survive the attack of Big Black Cocks, Witches, Runaway Carts, Horny Necromancers, and Leg Humping Terriers?

No. No they won’t. But at least it will be funny listening to them try.

In the Finale of the Kuro campaign the Characters now find themselves directly threatened by the angry ghost of Miyuki Sanso, apart from Chiyo who seemingly doesn’t do Pop-Culture references.
With one of the Four Otaku in hand can they keep him safe and alive from the ghost, knowing as they do that if she kills him, then she will be free to start on everyone else who has wronged her.

Currently they are trapped in one of the Otaku’s apartments, safe, so long as the salt barriers hold out.

Surely there’s nothing that could go wrong with that plan.

Will they survive, will the players learn to hate Bane Spiders as much as they hate Shadow Dragons? Probably. The new creatures from the Path of the Outcast Expansion get their debut with the Bane Spiders showing how they work, or rather they will do if the players can get past the other monsters first…

Episode 37

We return to the ghost haunted streets of Shin-Edo following Detectives Tanaki and Kurasawa, and their Occultist “friend” Liger Usagi, who is only slightly dodgy. This Episode they are also joined by Chiyo Matsuki who is an overclocker, a computer hacker from the back streets who fiddles with all sorts of technology, but mostly reprograms androids to upgrade their abilities, well Androids and Pop corn machines.

In this episode they continue their investigations into the Death of Yun Odo in Sto-Vo-Korr, while their Sergeant may think that the culprit was obviously a Homicidal Lolita with a silenced shotgun, the team are leaning heavily towards a more supernatural explanation.

However before they can do that they must first examine a cursed computer game, because that is obviously a major plot point and not something the GM threw out on the fly at all…

Episode 33

In which we follow the two cops Detective Tanaki Soka and Kurosawa Noriko , plus the Occultist Liger Usagi, as they try and work out who murdered one of the Otaku in Sto-vo-korr the Otaku night club in Akibahara.

We begin playing Kuro (Website here a near (far) future game set in a dystopian ghost haunted Japan not dissimilar to the setting of Ghost in the Shell. Japan has been attacked with a nuclear weapon, but although the weapon went off, no one was killed by the blast… The rest of the world believes Japan has a secret nuclear defence, the Japanese government however is panicking as they have no idea what is going on.

And Shin-Edo (renamed Tokyo) is now crawling with ghosts.

Dramatis Persona

Kurasawa Noriko: Tiny Policewoman, with a penchant for Jujitsu and shooting people. Noriko is the shin kicker of the team physically capable and well-armed. She is very connected to her car (called Kimiko), and is suffering from terrible insomnia since the Kuro Incident.

Tanaki Soka: The heavy drinking Police detective, he’s not handling the post incident world terribly well (he’s a semi-heavy drinker), but is continuing to do his job (just about) despite it. Wearing a forensics skin suit he also has a fair amount of natural ability, and some hacking knowledge gained from his time on the street.

Liger Usagi: The Bozoku Occultist, the world has become a weird place, and Usagi is well suited to it. Riding a motorcycle that would not have looked out of place in Akira, he also carries a .38 special with bloodstains from its previous owners death which he claims is “very effective against ghosts”, he knows more than he is letting on.

Will they flop out of their tubes and wonder what has happened? Why do they all have such awful names?

I honour of Podcast Saturday ( and Black Friday and so on ) I’ve decided to release two today.. Aren’t I nice to you!

NB: Please Note we recorded this AGES ago and we now have more Commenters! We Love you Guys!

Today we begin our semi regular Black City campaign using the rather fine FATE Core system (available here). The Black City is actually my own creation, and the campaign is mostly being used to flesh out the world I’m doing writing in, as such the world might be a little strange.

I will try and write up a little “Gazetteer of the Black City” at some point so that there is a bit more information on the setting available to you all. It’s a strange and somewhat unpleasant place, filled with horrifyingly powerful but broken creatures.

The campaign will follow Denver Soul, an investigator for the shadowy Ascendancy that rules the city, Meneith a disgraced Cog Shaman, Tzark a Spider Waldyr who is very much the muscle of the group, and finally Barnabus, a strange sort of Enslaver who sneaks into peoples houses to eat their dreams (leaving only Nightmares).
One of the Cities High-Order Enslavers has been murdered, which as this would cause a power-vacuum, concerns the Ascendancy greatly and given one of their Skryers has spoken a prophecy regarding it, they dispatch Denver Soul and his compatriots to Deal with it.

Still Spoilerrific for the Peril in Kings Landing campaign, so don’t listen to it if you are intending to play that campaign.

Off on their travels to Kings Landing, the scions of House Grimwood, and fully one fifth of the Scourge of Pyke their elite warriors, are heading down the Kings Road towards the capital in an attempt to sort out the succession crisis. Along the way they visit a number of taverns (much to Garricks delight), and find out that there is a mysterious bandit in the woods nearby, and House Dannet (they of the useless cows) are heading down the road ahead of them.

What will happen? Will any Ale be left in the world after Garrick is done? Will Amyria roll her eyes so hard that they pop clean out of her head?

Bloodied begins running us through Peril at Kings Landing, please be aware that these playthroughs will no doubt be full of spoilers for this campaign, so if you are intending to play it DON’T LISTEN! No… Wait.. Do listen but forget everything abut the plot (we have).

Follow the machinations of House Grimwood as we attempt to sort out our little succession crisis through diplomacy, poisoning, plotting, and pitting Westeros’ toughest man against the cream of the Kingdoms knighthood. In this episode we get to meet the characters, Garrick Snow, the not quite legitimate possible heir, Amyria Grimwood his younger half sister, Allyria Hill the adherent of the Old Gods, and Irvette Sand, Amyria’s handmaiden who certainly doesn’t have any secrets.

No tea as we were still getting over the Lapsang Souchon, but we did play an excellent Indie game called Final Girl. Having heard the Fandible guys (Website) playing this game I was inspired to purchase the game and then we gave it a real Cult feeling!

You can get Final girl from here, and I am not spoiling anything by telling you that you absolutely do need this game! There is a small amount of “imagination overhead” but for most roleplayers this is not diffic

In this episode we talk about getting new players into the role playing hobby and we review tea, Whittards lapsang souchon in this case, a tea which last time I drank it made me want to die (this time it didn’t). We were all surprised, but having had Russian Caravan before (freedom and adventure) we were a bit more ready for it. We also introduce Archive the newest member of the Cult (who you have already heard on the Pacific Rim Special Episode). Finally we discuss Kickstarter and how it is making us all poor.

The main subject of getting new players into RPG’s the methods we have used before and how it went from the other side of the table. We discuss my recent Spirit of the Century campaign for non-Gamers.

Lord Leigh and his… friends… continue looking into the Camden prostitute murders. The find the market is a hive on interesting characters, but who could be the murderer? The Creepy Manager of the Philip Cross hotel? The Poor Hospitals Doctor? “Lord” Harley McKinnon the Gravedigger who is profiting so handiliy from the situation? They don’t know but they aim to find out.
With Lottie (Tottie?) busy having conversations with herself seemingly, they resolve to search the area and try and find out who is the cause of these pernicious murders. At the same time, they must keep themselves safe from the predations of Animates.

All the while as they maintain their cover… as “Perverts” sorry “Adventurous Individuals”.

In this episode the new Lord Leigh, having had a thoroughly enjoyable time at his father’s funeral receives a terrible shock that leads to him having to take rooms in a derelict Coaching inn in the East End borough of Limehouse. How will he cope, out among the normal people? Will he be able to reclaim his inheritance? Will Corinne his mourner ever get paid? Who does Lottie keep talking to?

Here we are finally! The initial pod cast wherein I and Bloodied review some very nice tea from Whittards, and also a very fine game with very fiddly to put together miniatures from McVey studios in the form of Battle for Alabaster. I might also let slip that I experienced Homicidal tendencies while trying to glue the miniatures together, but fear not I got over it!

You will note that I haven’t put any music in… You will also note the creaky chairs of doom! This was the first recording we did so please excuse us if we sound a little shaky!
