Father's Day in June is perfect timing ....the days of summer are closing in. Remembering or taking those fishing trips to the "secret spot" where all the big ones were hiding...and still are.
Or the camping trip into the mountains ...or a day at the race track. The memories are endless as are the days of summer ...at least in our minds. The joy of those activities tickle down from the source...Dad... and live on in the future generations....albeit in some cases high tech. We now are in constant contact via cell phones and laptops...but that is okay because certain activities can be enjoyed regardless of all the high tech gadgets we lug along....trying to get "away" from the very technology we are now hooked on...
So it is hats for Dad June 15th ....whether he is a fishing fan... a racing fan or his idea for a relaxing day is a game of golf. Show Dad the love and give him a token of your appreciation for all the times he took you places and had wonderful adventures together ....even when he felt like just sleeping in the hammock under the shade tree in your backyard.
There is no age limit on fun and some Dads are still very much in touch with their inner child (some may even have names fo him) so help close the gap this year with Dad and that child ..... have some fun with each others inner child!

Mother’s Day can pose such a dilemma for loved ones! We Mothers, Mother-in-laws, or maybe you’re that very special friend always remembered on Mother’s Day, would rather you stick to simple and easy. Time with our loved ones is a pricelss gift we all cherish, but my daughter insists, as usual, on doing something extra special. Maybe that Mom you love is not next door, so stopping by isn’t an option. Like most Moms, I sincerely appreciate the attention and fuss, even though I always advise my daughter it’s not necessary. However, if she starts begging and prodding me for ideas, I usually can provide a quick list! Doing something extra special for us tough-to-buy-for Moms can take a lot of time, if you let it -- especially if you choose to stroll the mall or local gift shops, draining yourself of gas money and energy! Faced with busy and often stressful days, why go to all that hassle? I’m ready with my perfect list to give my daughter of beautiful and tasty ideas she can hop on line and order – ba-dah bing, ba-dah boom, and it’s done. With the variety available on the internet in the gift baskets for her category, whatever she chooses, will be a wonderful surprise! A few of my preferred gift basket choices are chocolates (of course!), a relaxing and much needed spa gift basket, a mouth watering healthy gift basket of fruit, or I always welcome and savor gourmet nuts! I love my father; however, every Father’s Day I am plagued with constant worry. A specific day set aside to honor the magnificent fathers, brothers, uncles, step-fathers, grandfathers, husbands, cousins and other special men everywhere only brings one holiday-thought to my mind, “Let’s-search-for-days-for-the-perfect-gift-that-doesn’t-exist-and-settle-for-a-disappointing-gift” Day.
Some of my male friends think that I make too much of a fuss over finding a special and unique gift for my dad on Father’s Day, but I want the gift that I present (material or not) to the most important man in my life, to be able to give at least a small glimpse of my appreciation and gratitude toward him. Special men are not a dime a dozen these days, and that is why on Father’s Day, I want to reflect back to my father the gifts that he has shown me:
· Originality - following the crowd rarely ever helped one succeed.
· Variety - No one in this world, fathers included, are EXACTLY like anyone else. If this were to be, what purpose would two people who are exactly alike in every aspect serve?
· Thoughtfulness - Dad cared for us the best that he knew how. Although we may not have always agreed with his decisions, deep within our hearts, we knew they were made after much thought and with much love.
· Creativity - my father could not provide the expensive brand-new toys off the shelf for my siblings and me, but we didn’t care; when Dad brought home a refrigerator box, paint, and other miscellaneous building scraps, the uniformly unimaginative toys on the shelf seemed like a silly thing to want.
· Presentation - When Dad brought our creative gift home, the box, we received a pep-talk filled with words of creativity and hard work. Had he simply tossed the box and paint on the ground of the garage and grumbled, “Here’s your old box,” we would not have been so excited or inspired to create something wonderful.
All of these things are life long lessons that my father has exemplified in various instances over the span of my life thus far. Material presents are not a high priority in my life, but, gifts are. Presents will fade, break, deteriorate, and wear-out over time; a gift, however, has no expiration date, limited warranty, or even requirements. The gifts that my father has bestowed upon us children will stay wrapped-up tightly in a gift basket that sits in my heart and cause my soul to smile.

It seems to be hard to buy for men. At least it is for me. There are only so many times I can buy golf clubs or fishing gear before I am looking for new ideas to get for the men in my life. This has led me to think a lot about things like gift baskets for him. Though women often get these from friends and family alike, it is not often many think to get them for the men they love. You should also include a gift certificate at a local sporting goods store so he can get what it is that he needs. So deservingly she needs a day (not enough) dedicated to her, give her a break, give her a spa retreat even if it is in the next room. Every Easter without fail I would get a chocolate bunny in my basket and every year it was the same struggle,do I bite the ears off first, or start at the feet. So I posed the question to everyone I could… given the choice what would it be ears or toes? The unanimous winner…. the ears. Why is that?
My favorite was the milk chocolate bunny provided the body was not hollow…… you know the drill, you bite down and chocolate crumbles every where because the thin walls of the chocolate. The real bunny was the solid chocolate, the chocolate bunny for the connoisseur, the mack daddy of the Easter basket.
So if you’re doing the bunny thing this year be……. solid.

Chocolate Eggs?

I don't know where they came from. I've never seen a bunny that lays a chocolate egg, since bunnies don't even lay eggs, but I love them! I don't care what they're wrapped in or what they're filled with, nobody can dispute the taste of a chocolate egg! However, every Easter, without fail, if I did not spot a plethora of those chocolate eggs, I would be very disappointed.........but that was never the case, lucky me, because my grandmother would make sure each year that my Easter basket was filled to the brim with every imaginable candy available every season! Thanks Grandma, and Thank You Easter Bunny!
