Don’t let it be a bad hair day because most of us will be quick to throw on a hat! The main concerns we are likely to have are: thinning, breakage, dry, flaky scalp, etc. So let’s review the top foods to turn around those problems.

  1. Salmon- Full of Omega 3′s which supports scalp health and also contains B-12 and iron
  2. Dark Green Vegetables- Amazing sources of Vitamins A & C which helps your body produce sebum.
  3. Beans- They’re good for your heart the more you eat them the more you fart the better you’ll feel so eat those beans for every meal (go ahead and laugh). But on a GREAT note beans provide enough protein to promote hair growth but also enough iron, zinc, and biotin.
  4. Nuts- Brazil nuts are a great source of selenium especially for your scalp. Walnuts are another good nut as well as they contain ALA (alpha linoleic acid) which helps condition your hair
  5. Poultry- High quality protein keeps your hair nice and strong
  6. Eggs- I’m a huge egg person and eggs contain biotin and Vitamin B-12
  7. Whole Grains- Some examples of whole grains: whole wheat bread, whole grain breakfast cereal, etc. These whole grains contain zinc, iron, and B Vitamins
  8. Oysters- I’m not an oyster person but they contain Zinc which you can also get from beef and lamb
  9. Low-Fat Dairy Products- Skim milk, yogurt, etc. are great sources of calcium and is important for hair growth. They both contain Casein and Whey.
  10. Carrots- Are an excellent source of Vitamin A and help with your vision as well.

As you can probably tell, most everything listed contains Vitamin B. I personally take a Super B-Complex vitamin. It’s yucky to me because it dissolves so fast, practically as soon as liquid touches it. But B Vitamins also help with converting food to energy.

This season’s gorgeous and bubbly southern belle Emily Maynard, knows all too well the craziness that goes into the show. The then contestant won the heart of both at-home audiences and Season 11 Brad Womack, but was devastated when the proposal quickly ended.

Several years later she’s back at it, and this time hopes to find a true lasting love. The single mother’s tragic background was addressed, and soon she was whisked away to a private mansion by host Chris Harrison.

One after another, limos began to drop off men all vying for Emily’s heart. 25 contestants began unloading from the limos, some more memorable than others. Most men ranging in age of 28-32 years old, from all walks of life, tried their best to win her over.

Instantly 33-year-old single dad Doug caught our attention. After fitting much of his background into his 30-second introduction, it was clear that he had a major foot ahead of the others.

It wasn’t until 30-year-old Arie arrived that we were convinced there might be more “eligible” contestants than expected. The race-car driver was able to find some time for introductions after the men arrived.

Those familiar with Emily’s past know that her late husband was a NASCAR driver, and Arie was unsure how she would take the news of his career. It couldn’t have gone more smoothly. As it turns out, she loves the sport and continues to have wonderful memories from her time there.

After what seemed to be the last limo making its way out of the gate, a helicopter suddenly appeared in the wrap around of the expansive mansion. Men from the backyard instantly began to ploy with one another to exclude the showboating individual.

Out of the helicopter appeared 27-year-old Kalon, a luxury-brand-consultant from Texas. It was clear that this wasn’t going to be the last of Kalon’s grandstanding antics. Immediately singled out from the majority of the group, Kalon became the target of many of the competitors.

In the end, Emily gave the first impression rose to single-dad Doug, who gave her a hand-written note from his son, which explained why she should pick his dad. The night ended with the final rose ceremony, where Randy, Jean-Paul, Brent, Lerone, Jackson and David were sent home.

Easy, Multi-Purpose Button Down Tunic Dress!

While flipping through the June issue of Glamour Magazine, I noticed a re-occurring trend on a bunch of celebrities; including cover girl Carrie Underwood. As featured in the mag, the idea of a button-down tunic dress seemed like the perfect summer outfit idea to me!

Most tunic dresses are made in a light, chiffon or cotton fabric, which makes them perfect for hot summer days on campus or at work. The button details down the front, like this one I found on www.intermixonline.com, make the piece very versatile.

Many tunic dresses I found online came sleeveless, which are also perfect for summer! This one I found on Macy’s online store has a very preppy look to it, with an all-over lacey pattern and a collar around the neck.  Paired here with knit tights and wedges is just one way to wear the trend.

Also, try wearing a neutral colored tunic dress with a pair of patterned jeans or leggings on the bottom and a cool pair of open-toed wedges. Leave the tunic dress unbuttoned below the waist to add some movement to your outfit!

Not all things need to be expensive or lavish gifts, taking the time out to put together a special thank you is all that’s needed. Prepare a Sunday morning brunch. Have the family go to work by assembling a hearty meal of mom’s favorite breakfast foods. Quiche’s are a great center point to a meal. You can create your own combination of ingredients to add, and serve it with roasted potatoes and a fresh fruit salad.

If your mom is known to have a sweet tooth, put together a waffle bar! Grab all the delicious toppings and present them buffet style. Serve with fresh fruit and hot maple syrup. This is a great solution for a larger family, everyone can pick and choose what they want to have. Plus, who doesn’t love waffles?

If cooking isn’t really your strong suit, plan something outdoors. Try looking up local hiking spots or even map out a location for an afternoon picnic. This time of year you can’t go wrong with trying to enjoy the gorgeous weather. Plan a day-cation, be adventurous and pick out fun places to stop along the way. Possibly visit the wine country for an afternoon of tasting or if your lucky enough to live near to a coastline, head out to the beach.

Alternatively, you can take all the planning out of it and just head out! Sometimes the best trips are the most spontaneous ones. If your day is already planned with extended family, treat your mom by pampering her with a spa treatment. There’s nothing more relaxing than the gift of a massage or mani-pedi.

Make an effort to find out something that your mom has always wanted to do. This could be anything from a cooking course, paddle boarding or even flower arranging. Sign the two of you up, so you can enjoy spending the time together!

Whatever you plan to do make sure you take time out to do something special in celebration of your mom.

Wednesday evening marked Nylon’s annual young Hollywood party. Droves of 20-something celebrities came to Hollywood’s Roosevelt hotel to celebrate. The bash played host to plenty of on-screen regulars as well as some up-and-coming acts.

Emma Roberts arrived with boyfriend Chord Overstreet and hung out with Rumor Willis and sisters Ally and Aj Michalka. Rising star Juno Temple, who is featured in the mag’s May issue posed for pictures with other featured celebrities.

Twilight’s Nikki Reed came with husband Paul McDonald, and wore a high-low hemline dress with cutout details in the waist. Also in attendance was Revenge’s Ashley Madekwe who always seems to have the best red carpet style! The rest of the evening continued into the night as guests danced to music spun by celebrity Dj Lindsay Luv.

The Shops at Target

The go-to big box store has done it once again! Their latest collaboration is quite different than any of their previous big designer duos. Target has teamed up with small business owners around the country to create special edition collections.

Each collection will feature one of five selected boutiques to showcase an array of products. The cross-country venture includes, San Francisco’s The Candy Store, Boston’s The Dog Bakery, Aspen’s Cos Bar, Connecticut’s Privet House, and Miami’s The Webster.

The full collection includes around 400 items and ranges in price from $1-$160. This collaboration is sure to be a hit with Target customers who flock to new releases.

“The Shops at Target” hit store shelves on Sunday, May 6th.

Today, Kayleen shared how to achieve Sofia Vergara’s COVERGIRL look with First Class Fashionista!

I first applied COVERGIRL NatueLuxe Silk Foundation in Nutmeg all over her face using a blender sponge. I then used COVERGIRL TRUconceal Concealer in #4 just where we needed under the eyes and around the nose to keep the makeup sheer. To set the look, I used a big fluffy brush to apply COVERGIRL Clean Pressed Powder in Soft Honey and then used COVERGIRL Cheekers Blush in Plum Plush to complement her lips.

I wanted to create an eye on Sofia that’s lighter than usual. I applied COVERGIRL Queen Collection Vivid Impact Eyeliner in Truffle along the bottom lashes from the outer corners to the very inner corners and then applied a lighter line along the lash line at the top to create dimension. I applied COVERGIRL Eye Enhancers 1-Kit Shadows in Swiss Chocolate on top of the liner on the lid to create a softer effect and then used COVERGIRL Eye Enhancers 1-Kit Shadows in Mink along the brow bone. I used two coats of COVERGIRL LashBlast 24HR Mascara in Very Black on the top and bottom lashes to finish the eyes.

I lined the lips first with COVERGIRL LipPerfection Lipliner in Beloved and then filled them in with COVERGIRL Queen Collection Lip Color in Regal Raspberry using a lip brush to create dimension and contour the lips.

We knew we wanted to use a grapey-pink lip color to make Sofia’s lips stand out, but we had to play around with three different shades of purple before choosing the one she’s seen wearing. Since her look is all about the lips, I wanted to make sure the color stayed vibrant all night long so I gave her the COVERGIRL lip liner and lipstick to keep in her purse before she hit the red carpet.
