Fishing and the weather warms up in Bosnia

The season started very well, with excellent water conditions. Fishing was very good, with exception of few rainy days in early April. We also had few days with light rain in May, but clients were fishing, and fish were active all day. Pliva River was especially good this early season, with almost all clients catching ( and releasing, of course ) brown trout of 50+ cm. The biggest trout on Pliva River this year caught by our clients was 60 cm. The biggest grayling on Ribnik River this year caught by our clients was 48 cm.
We hope for bigger fish, because it’s only half season now.

"This was a trip I'd been looking forward to for some time; my first fishing holiday with a special bunch of pals in the small but beautiful country of Slovenia, home of the fabled marble trout. Our party: an entente cordial of two French and two English anglers from different walks of life, bound together by a common passion for a sport we seldom get time to enjoy as a group. We arrived from our separate departure points to meet in arrivals at Trieste airport on the shores of the Italian Adriatic. Thirty minutes after being loaded and comforted into the hotel transfer bus, we crossed the border into Slovenia, the sparkling Adriatic diminishing behind, the drama of the Julian mountains looming invitingly ahead."

Terry Lawton reports that a visiting angler has caught an exceptional wild brown trout from one of the new chalk streams created within the curtilage of Vitacress Salads' Lower Link Farm at St Mary Bourne, Hants. The fish - estimated to weigh more than 5 pounds - was seen lying in a small stream close to the end of a culvert, 50 yards upstream of the viaduct shown in the famous view from Chapmansford bridge.

Fish Legal has expressed surprise at what it sees to be the Environment Agency’s apparent lack of concern at the severe and potentially toxic algal blooms in Llyn Padarn, home to one of the rarest fish species in Wales, the arctic charr (Salvelinus alpinus). The Agency recently described the algal bloom as a “natural phenomenon”. We now also have the Welsh Environment Agency's response added to provide both sides of the story.
