Tip! It takes a special breed of angler to flock to this nook of the world, where many a fishing lore is born. Alaska fishing legends are home to salmon runs so thick you can walk across their backs, halibut so big they’re called barn doors, and bottom fish so plentiful, fishing for them is called ‘catching’.

Sockeye salmon, Steelhead salmon, River trout, Chum salmon, Coho salmon and of course the Chinook salmon; when salmons of this variety can be caught in the Alaskan waters its hard to keep the throngs of hopeful anglers away. Pretty justified too, there have been far too many monster catches of Chinooks or deservingly named King Salmons over the Alaskan waters, further enticing starter and pro anglers to ply its waters and search for their luck.

The King Salmon is no doubt the most coveted price in Alaska salmon fishing, though over the years its estuaries are also known to shelter several gargantuan halibuts. But more or less, Alaska is more dominant with its endless salmon runs, and softer nerved anglers who are still skeptical in challenging the king can opt with other types of salmons other than the fiery King.

But they have to avoid angling for the Coho salmon, or sometimes called the Silver Salmon, too. This salmon type is next in line with the Chinook in tempestuousness; they are known to perform heavy acrobatics and stunts when compromised, beating novice anglers with lesser determination.

All in all, Alaska salmon fishing is one dominant American fishing sport. True you can fish for salmon just about anywhere: Puget Sound, British Columbia, Arkansas, New York? but the diversity of the salmon fishes in Alaska coupled with the level of the play involved there (most pros fishing for salmon head to Alaska), Alaska salmon fishing provides for the better experience.

So, have I convinced you yet about the boons of Alaska salmon fishing? Here are some starter venues to compliment for your Alaska salmon adventure ideas.

Waterfall Resort

Waterfall Resort is good only for one thing. They hold the Annual $100,000 King of Kings Salmon Tournament. Being a full sized tournament involving several pro anglers, this makes it a mighty fine venture indeed. The only catch is, you have to be a resort guest to join the tournament. No big deal, the Waterfall resort also boasts the best location in this part of Alaska. You might be interested to join.

Tip! For the benefit of those who haven’t known it yet, but dreamed of a magical Alaskan salmon fishing trip, there are actually lots of available salmon fishing trip packages in Alaska for you to take advantage of. Most of Alaskan salmon fishing trip packages offer small groups, comfortable Alaska fishing lodge, great and delectable food, affordable prices, and absolute relaxation on top of the adventure and fun of salmon fishing.

Alaska Rainbow Lodge

Are you planning a more laidback adventure where you can fish on anytime of the day with less the hassle? A more personalized adventure perhaps? Why not settle on one of the riverside cabins along the Kenai River. Now that is personalized fishing vacation, with the fishing grounds right at your doorstep.

Regarding Kenai River, this is where Les Anderson became immortalized with his 1985 catch of a gargantuan salmon. It was a 97.4 pound King Salmon. The only rival record was the 1949 King Salmon caught at Petersburg, Alaska. At 126 pounds it was by far the heaviest though many were skeptical judging the absence of visual proofs.

A variety of options are available, such as mooring in the Prince William Sound bay.

Care to try silver salmon fishing in Alaska? Fishing enthusiasts from around the world gather every year in Alaska for hope of catching huge fish. Why Alaska? Actually, Alaska is one of the many silver fishing destinations in the world, where in huge silver fish are as healthy and flourishing as in Alaska itself. And because silver fishing is sometimes fast-paced with 2 to three catches every fishing trip, keeping all anglers on their toes, are one of the interesting facts of silver salmon fishing in Alaska.

Tip! For more information, please visit this Alaska Fishing Lodge for more information.

Anglers always dream of coming to Alaska to experience catching big fish, with which they are so famous of. Besides silver salmon fishing in Alaska, anglers also come to learn fishing techniques, but it doesn’t end there because there’s more to learning than you think. Not only fishing is great, but getting there is already half the fun. You get to see some scenic views that can make your eyes pop from admiration. The whole package of Alaska, that include spectacular scenery, wildlife, culture, as well as activities are what captivate visitors and keep them coming back.

Tip! The second Alaska fishing lodge on offer is www.alaska-adventures.

And speaking of visitors coming to Alaska, one of the most sought after guided or unguided float trips is silver salmon fishing. The silver salmon fishing in Alaska is unfortunately not a year round activity, but only available during early August until the end of the month or simply called as early fall of Alaska. A course of rather short duration of fishing thrill, the fishery provides approximately three weeks of exciting fishing before closing at the end of the month.

During the season of silver salmon fishing in Alaska, the sizes of the silvers are too big averaging from 7-10 pounds. In some years, if ocean feeding conditions are better, the average weight of silver salmon can reach up to more than ten pounds with regular catches of 15 to 17- pound fish. Trophy class or twenty-pound silvers are now possible at the present. And even if silvers are smaller that their king salmon cousins, they still managed to amuse anglers with their acrobatic tricks, usually doing cartwheels and jumping around over and over after being hooked.

Tip! Fly In For Fly Fishing: Floatplanes ensure a unique introduction to the magic of Alaska fishing. Fly-outs are organized by many fishing outfits in the area, allowing you to reach remote regions that are otherwise inaccessible.

It is impossible to go back home with slumped shoulders due to disappointment of not catching any silvers with silver salmon fishing in Alaska. So when a silver fresh from saltwater takes your bait with only less than a rod’s length, you better have strong hands and arms enough to hold your catch. Bottom line is, your whole experience with silver salmon fishing in Alaska is guaranteed to turn out a huge success! So, plan your Alaska fishing vacation ahead of time, to make sure you can come on the right time for fishing season.

Therefore, start your inquiry on charters that operate for a long period of time.

Kenai, Kasilof, Tustumena Lake, the areas of Kenai Peninsula Borough achieved universal acclaim with Mr. Lester Anderson and his 1985 catch of a King salmon. And overnight, professional anglers, regulars and starter anglers have arranged almost regularly for fishing expeditions towards Alaskan waters to try their luck on similar prizes.

To this day, Kenai River still remains a salmon hotspot. Particularly on the western Kenai peninsula and the Tustumena Lake where swarms of salmon, Kings and Silvers often migrate to these open water sheds to spawn. Fishing is especially good on certain seasons that it’s highly improbable that anyone would return empty-handed. Knowing when the salmon runs would never hurt, especially when returning with heavier wicker basket than your peers.

Tip! Milos Pesic is an avid fisherman and owner of popular and comprehensive Salmon Fishing information site.

Do you know when to arrange a Kenai and the Kasilof salmon fishing? Here’s the data regarding fishing success over Kenai and Kasilof areas. Study these facts before arranging your Kasilof salmon fishing.

1st run Kasilof Kings – strong during last week of May to 3rd week of June, moderate presence on early May and late June to early July

2nd run Kasilof Kings – strong on the 2nd to last week of July, moderate presence from mid-June to early July.

Kasilof Sockeyes – strong during last week of June to 3rd week of July, moderate presence on mid-June and last part on July to early August

Kasilof Silvers – strong during the 2nd week to 3rd week of August, moderate on last part of July to early August and the last week of August

Kenai is favorably known because it has the longest salmon presence than any other parts of Alaska. Here is the salmon data on Kenai River.

1st run Kenai Kings – strong during 2nd to 3rd week of June, moderate presence from 2nd week May to early parts of June

2nd run Kenai Kings – strong during 2nd to last week of July, moderate presence on early July

Kenai Sockeyes – strong during the last week of June and 3rd to last week of July, moderate presence on early June, early July and early August

As you can see, Kasilof salmon fishing is especially rewarding on June and July with heavy salmon presence, while Kenai offers a longer moderate presence of salmon. Work your fishing expeditions during peak runs but remember to book early. If you have access to this Kenai and Kasilof Salmon Fishing Chart, so would others.

Tip! The King Salmon is no doubt the most coveted price in Alaska salmon fishing, though over the years its estuaries are also known to shelter several gargantuan halibuts.
When you talk about fishing and Alaska, you will probably think of Seward. Seward is the Saltwater Sport Fishing Capitol of Alaska. It is where the biggest fishing sports are held, not to mention the fist in Alaska for Coho salmon and halibut catch, as well as other fish like ling cod, and more.

Halibut and salmon fishing in Seward, Alaska is not new, at least not to the locals and frequent visitors. Well, how could it be when it is the place where big fishing games are held? The halibut and salmon fishing in Seward, Alaska start in the month of April when the temperature start to rise and the snow start to melt. It is also the time when this small coast community starts into to become alive. Fishing gears are prepared, the fishing boats are repainted and visiting fishing enthusiasts are starting to come to experience one of the best seasons of Seward, Alaska – fishing season!

As a matter of fact, halibut and salmon fishing in Seward, Alaska start a little earlier than it is supposed to be. March is the break up month, where the king salmon leave the saltwater and start their way to freshwater. Even during this time, eager fishermen are already waiting to have their share of early fishing season catch. Then comes April, the month where the powerful halibut turn up on the docks of Seward. Actually, the halibuts are present the whole year, but they are likely to go deeper in the winter months and come back, showing off themselves in the warmer months as their food tend go closer to shore.

Tip! My neighbor lived in Alaska for over twenty years and pulled out pictures of Alaska fishing trips that he and his wife had taken. My first reaction, ?That’s the biggest flounder I ever saw!? Of course it wasn’t a flounder; it was a halibut of nearly 200 pounds.

On the month of May, when the snow is almost gone, the boats go out for fishing on most days. But on the following month, June, summer is the time where great things start to happen. Halibut and salmon fishing in Seward, Alaska during this month will be an exciting experience for you will never go home empty-handed. You surely will catch halibut and/or salmon daily during the entire summer. The weather, too, will match up with your enthusiasm as you go fishing for halibut and salmon.

As the month progresses, July is the time of roasting heat. It is the time when halibut and salmon fishing in Seward, Alaska never gets any better. In the month of August, the exciting fishing activities continue to keep the fishermen busy through great fishing and handful of catch. September is when the temperature gets a little by this time, but it doesn’t mean the fishing is over – cold weather is just the sign of the culmination of fishing season. Don’t worry; there is still another year to come to satisfy your craving for halibut and salmon fishing in Seward, Alaska.

Tip! There is only one way to prove if what you heard about salmon fishing in Canada is true and that is to book for fishing trip to Canada. Or, if you want to catch the bigger cousins of salmon ? king or Chinook, the more you have to join in the salmon fishing in Canada.

In the realm of fishing, the method of angling fish is no doubt the oldest fishing method in existence. It is as old as when man learns to fish with the spear as to hunt prey with it. Using spear as the rod and pieces of bone fashioned into hooks, we can only surmise how successful the 2000 BC anglers were with fishing. And obviously what they do was no fly fishing.

In any event, we could tell that the art of fishing did somewhat gain success since it was delivered throughout the ages. The next recorded event of fishing was in fact a more sophisticated technique (or art as some others would like to call it) called fly fishing today. It was around the 2nd century AD when Roman rhetorician Claudius Aelian took notes on how Macedonian anglers used artificial bait as lures to catch fish; widely presumed that these fishes to be trout from the description “spotted exterior”.

Today, fly fishing salmon is the most enjoyable branch of fishing, more so for the North American citizens. Fly fishing salmon in Canada and other parts of North America is a common outdoor sport enjoyed by multitudes of residents and non residents. Because fly fishing employs more techniques than typical angling, it provides more challenge to the anglers themselves. Using artificial flies than real baits also provides more challenge and lesser hassle in terms of preparation. In fact, most anglers that engage on this sport are more often from tours and independent groups than those living near the vicinity of salmon fishing sites. Non residents drive or fly a hundred miles towards this famed spawning ground to try their luck on a Chinook or a Coho Silver. These mighty salmons are famed for their reluctance to hand over the prize to its captors. A typical 100 pounder, these extra large salmons bust tackles and rip rods away from grinning anglers in the rush of adrenaline who’d then realize that they too can be beaten by fishes.

Tip! Due to the fact that salmon fishing in Canada known in the world, you can expect a lot of salmon fishing charters wherever you want to spend your fishing trip. Therefore, start your inquiry on charters that operate for a long period of time.

Fly fishing salmon in Canada is a sought after recreation. In fact, the two words became allied when it was leaked that British Columbia was the home of the most prized game salmon, the Chinook or the King Salmon. The adult fish may average 33 to 36 inches in length or sometimes up to 58 inches. Not particularly long, they made it up in body mass, averaging 10 to 50 pounds but could as easily reach 130 pounds. When the first monster catch for a world record was at 126 pounds, and another was caught at 97 pounds in Alaska, it convinced everyone that fly fishing salmon in Canada and Alaska is substance and it became the most competitive fishing sport.

Tip! The third Alaska fishing lodge to be presented here is World-Class Trophy Alaska- Salmon Fishing and Arctic Char. The site for additional information is www.

The King Salmon is correctly referred to as Chinook, but others call it Tyee, Chub, Hook Bill (for males), Winter Salmon, and Blackmouth. It is an anadromous fish, meaning it makes regular migrations whether daily or annual with distance ranging from several meters to a thousand. The king salmon typically have blue green hue with silvery sides. From juvenile and entering the ocean habitat it changes hues, first from dark blotched green then to dark blue green. But how did the King Salmon earned the name “King”?

While typically averaging 10 to 50 pounds, some King Salmon could very well exceed 100 pounds. The first world record for the King Salmon was 126 pounds, a commercial catch near Petersburg Alaska. A more subsequent effort was made by Mr. Lester Anderson, and he caught a 97 pounds King Salmon over at Kenai River in 1985. Immediately after that event, thousands of anglers, pros and regulars now clamored up on boat expeditions and charters bound to Alaska’s fishing grounds to try their luck and mettle on landing a 100 pounder King.

Tip! There are many resources on the internet to assist you in finding out more information. Please visit online resource: Alaska Fishing Vacation for more information.

King Salmon deserved to be called “The King”. As soon as it senses the line it won’t give slack. At most it will try to circle or even go berserk often seizing the rod away from astonished anglers who thought they can manhandle the King.

King Salmons are fiery combatants, so managing the lines could make the biggest difference in taking down the King. Taking the best gear and knowing the best techniques in landing down the King Salmon always ensures a successful fishing. And of course, Alaska is still the best place for any King Salmon fishing, guarantees always a rewarding trip.

So where to you start for your Alaska King Salmon fishing? I suggest heading out to the Waterfall Resort. There they hold the Annual $100,000 King of Kings Salmon Tournament. You might join in this tournament if you are interested in Alaska King Salmon fishing. Or you might get some helpful pointers on landing yourself a catch. Most pros head here just to take part on the annual competition. This competition however is only available to guests of the resort.

Tip! Dream Catches From A Drift Boat: The Kasilof River, home of King Salmon, Reds, and Silver Salmon, provides the background music while you are floating down river on a drift boat. No outboard motor means no noise pollution – the beauty of Alaska fishing.

There are also other venues where you can get a healthy Alaska king salmon fishing atmosphere. Like at the Alaska Rainbow Lodge at Bristol Bay. Its one of the premier fishing lodges in Alaska and it doesn’t take you far away to those fishing grounds you seek. Or if you wish you can directly book at the riverside cabins along the Kenai River at Sterling. Now that is personalized Alaska King Salmon fishing adventure, with the fishing grounds right at your doorstep.

Tip! New York salmon fishing has earned its popularity to those who are hooked to fishing even around the world due to its rivers and streams that are abundant with a wide variety of salmon species. The salmon of New York are among the largest and sough after game fish found in northeastern waters.

In the past, fishing for Atlantic salmons was mostly for sustenance. Caught on river runs or on the open sea, these salmons are fished by hundreds. In fact, a number of fishing techniques have evolved to catch these Atlantic salmons as they return to their spawning grounds en masse. Icelandic nomads cut holes on frozen lakes to fish for salmons beneath a layer of ice. Polar bears have learned how to dive and fish for salmons, often displaying superb agility and finesse underwater. And several hunters have copied the formula, teaching hunter dogs to dive into freezing waters to catch salmon themselves. Even the trout tickling have of course evolved on this part of the globe.

For the people on the northern hemisphere, it’s true they have long respected the salmon. Northern indigenous tribes hold ceremonies on shores to honor their first return of the year. Wooden and earthen vessels are adorned with salmon carvings.

Today, Atlantic salmon fishing is done mostly for sports; the centuries of fishing Atlantic salmon have extensively decimated populations. Several the commercial Atlantic salmon was bought away by concerned communities and sports institutions that are alarmed by the rapidly declining salmon specie. While it is still fished for sustenance, most commercial Atlantic salmons are now farmed, grown on fisheries or planted on unoccupied water sheds with sea access, where the salmons would still make their seasonal runs.

Tip! Now that you have learned some useful salmon fishing tips, all you have to do is use them and see if you can catch more salmon this time. Also, don’t be reluctant to get some more fishing tips from other fishermen who are experts with this hobby.

Atlantic Salmon fishing is still available for every anglers to enjoy; though some areas would require a strict “catch and release” agenda. While you may not be particularly keen in releasing your catches, you can still measure and take photos with the catch before releasing it back into the water.

Are you in for some Atlantic salmon fishing? If that’s the case maybe I can recommend you some ideas about Atlantic salmon fishing. Read on, read on.

Alaska Rainbow Lodge is blessed to be sitting right in the banks of the Kenai River. In case you don’t know, Kenai is favorably known as one of the best salmon fishing spot since its several spacious rivers and sizable water sheds are large enough to brood several finicky salmons. And its being located near the Atlantic sea makes it a more favorable salmon run. Going for an Atlantic salmon fishing trip? Head out to Kenai. Just book to Alaska Rainbow Lodge and start fishing right out of the doorstep.

Charters can be wholesome when you aren’t yet the best of anglers. At most, those that drive you to the fishing destinations are competent fishermen that can give you a pointer or two. So why not sign up for those Atlantic salmon fishing trips and do some exciting fishing stuff, ones that guarantee a bite, e.g. like trolling. Are you game?

Tip! For a total exciting salmon fishing in Ireland, you can spend your trip to Delphi and you can stay for a week or more, time enough to get the most of what the place has to offer.

Tip! The salmon angler is expressed with his salmon fishing tackle. Not just any tackles, it must be intended for the specific game.

Tip! If you really want to splash out during your Alaska salmon fishing your can choose one of the exclusive private islands where you will enjoy first-rate accommodation, supreme restaurants and even be pampered with saunas and steam rooms after a long day of fishing. Others prefer a more rough and traditional way of life during their fishing trip, and enjoy the quite life of a simple hut far away from any signs of civilization.

Tip! Getting yourself salmon fishing lures is not as simple as you think. You can’t just buy and attach them securely at the end of your fishing line.
