If you are watching your waistline you can feel good about eating this ENTIRE Pizza (because it’s only about 300 calories)! It’s full of fiber, has whole wheat crust, and is topped with yummy veggies. It’s fast, it’s easy, and most importantly it’s yummy! Your kids will LOVE it!

What I love about this pizza crust is that it only has 100 calories! It is made with whole wheat, and has 8 grams of fiber, and 9 grams of protein! Top it with some of your favorite veggies and part skim mozzarella (or a dairy free cheese) and it’s fabulous! A guilt free, yummy lunch or dinner option. You can also do what I did…I shared it with my begging sweet daughter and ate a serving of fresh berries with it! It was a light and delicious lunch! I think I’ll do it again tomorrow.

Good Day! I hope you are getting ready for one fit week! I am. My plan is to train on the beach a couple of times, do yoga 2 days, legs & abs one day, and another day of cardio and abs. I will be using P90x videos for my cardio, legs, yoga, and ab video workouts. If you’d like to get yourself a set of one of the best workouts in the world, check out my Beach Body website, I’m a Beach Body coach and can get you going on one of their amazing programs.

The following meal plan is what my family will be eating this week. Feel free to follow along with us, or pick and choose what you like. Is this a diet plan to try and lose weight? NO! It’s just a healthy eating plan, if you have a poor diet (fried fatty foods, no veggies, etc.. you may lose weight), and if you already eat well this can help you stay on track. At the very least you may get some new meal ideas to help you get out of the same old rut in the kitchen.

Hi Fit Moms!
This is LATE.. For some reason I thought I had scheduled and posted this post, but looking through my drafts I realized I didn’t. Sooooo, since we are not toooooo far away from Easter, I thought I’d still post this. Just pretend that you saw this a couple of weeks ago. LOL!

Today for me is the best day of the year. It’s the day we celebrate the resurrection of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This is not a Christian blog, but because I am a Christian there is no way that I could not say Happy Resurrection Sunday to you all. Being a Christian isn’t just a part of my life, it’s all of my life. I laugh when people say don’t mix politics and religion. If you are a true believer, and more importantly a true disciple/follower of Jesus, there is no way you can separate your Christianity from every part of your life. So, even though I blog about fitness and health, I am always doing it with Christ in mind. I am always writing knowing that I have a high call on my life, and that is to include Him in everything I do (even when I play pro beach volleyball).

The video you are about to watch is actually a video filmed by self-proclaimed atheist Penn Jillette (from the famous Penn & Teller show). I LOVE this video! That may surprise you because I’m a Christian and he is an atheist. In this video Penn talks about receiving a bible from a fan and his experience. His response may not be what you expect. Check it out!

After watching this, I agreed with Penn. If you feel strongly about something you should share it. Christ came, he died, he rose again because he loves you and me. If you have any questions about this, and want to know more about his gift of love, and life, please email me at annett (at) fitmomsfitkidsclub (dot) com. Happy Resurrection Sunday!

This weekend I babysat a good friends child overnight. Wanting him to feel at home, I made some homemade whole wheat pancakes. They were delicious. I liked them so much, I thought I’d share the recipe with you. His mom texted me this week to say that her son said that I was a great cook! I guess he liked them too.

Let me know if you try them! FYI, you can always add oats, fruit, flax, nuts, wheat germ, whatever you like to beef up the nutrition value.

If you’ve been reading this blog for anytime, you know that I LOVE to EAT! I can be happy a lot of times just thinking of good food, and food combinations. I was avoiding thinking about our Easter dinner menu because I knew I had to go shopping for the items. But, once I started thinking about what we’d have for dinner, I just couldn’t stop! I was scouring the internet looking for new things, things that sounded scrumptious, things that made me want to eat them right off the computer screen.

OK, I know I’m a little over the top sometimes. But, this shows you how much I really LOVE food. I must admit that sometimes I go crazy eating food and just don’t stop myself. For example, this week we went to my sister-in-law’s restaurant, Dhat Island, and I had been thinking about it for days! I love the food there, it’s one of the most highly rated restaurants in the Inland Empire. Anyway, I ate so much that my stomach actually hurt. I went beyond full to about to explode!!! I do not recommend you doing this ever, but you’ve probably experienced this as well sometime in your life.

When we eat we rely on our “feelings” don’t we. We eat when we feel hungry. We drink when we feel thirsty. Like I described above there are times that I don’t “feel” like stopping. Other times, we don’t eat because we don’t feel like eating, because we aren’t hungry or are too busy. Our feelings have a lot to do with our eating patterns, which in turn can affect our weight.

I always taught to clean my plate. Before I could get up to play, or be excused from the table I had to finish everything on it, even if the portion was too big for me in the first place. As I grew up I realized that this type of thinking wasn’t good. Especially when the average American portion sizes have exploded! Have you ever seen Super Size Me?

After college I started regulating the amount I ate by how I felt. If I started to feel full I stopped eating. Recently, I’ve learned not to even trust that, but instead to find out how many calories my body actually needs (I took a test where they hooked me up to some machine to let me know) and then I try to eat that amount or less.

Why You Can’t Eat Until You Feel Full

Most Americans just throw down their food like if they don’t eat it in 5 minutes it will disappear and they will never get any more. I dare you, next time you sit down for breakfast, lunch, or dinner time yourself. How long did it take you to eat your meal? Our bodies take roughly about 30 minutes to feel full. That’s why you cannot trust your feelings and eat until you feel full. If I was to wait until I “felt full” most of the times I’d consume way over my allotment of calories for any given meal. If you are wondering why you are gaining weight, you probably are eating until you feel full/satisfied. Ladies, if I ate ice cream until I felt satisfied I probably would never get up from the table.

Our appetites are complex. We see food, smell food, taste food, and we have things going on in our brain that sometimes take awhile to tell us we are full. Sometimes though, according to Harvard Mental Health, people who are obese, their receptors that are supposed to tell them they are full don’t. They “may suffer from leptin resistance, meaning that they are less responsive to satiety or pleasure signals from this hormone.”

Count It Out

You say you want to get rid of that baby weight right? Then don’t just eat until you feel full. Count it out, the calories that is. Try finding your “Magic Number To Weight Loss.” You can get a nutritionist/dietician to help you figure our how much your body is actually burning so that you know how much your body needs in a day. That’s what I did, when I was losing my baby weight. You can use this personal calorie calculator as well by clicking here.

Until next time make good choices!

Use this easy formula, a favorite of cardiologist Thomas Lee, editor in chief of the Harvard Heart Letter.

First, find your activity level below in “And Your Number Is…” Multiply your weight by the number indicated. (You may fall between two categories. If that’s the case, adjust the number by adding a point or so.) The result is the number of calories you need to maintain your weight. Let’s say you weigh 135 pounds and do light exercise one to three days a week. Multiply 135 by 13.5 to get, approximately, 1,800 calories. If you want to drop some pounds, try cutting out 250 calories a day, says Lee. In a year, if you make no other changes, you could be 26 pounds lighter. Exercise more and you could lose more, too.

And Your Number Is…

You exercise: Almost never
Multiply your current weight by: 12

You exercise: Lightly, one to three days a week
Multiply your current weight by: 13.5

You exercise: Moderately, three to five days a week
Multiply your current weight by: 15.5

You exercise: Vigorously, six to seven days a week
Multiply your current weight by: 17

You exercise: Vigorously, daily, and you have a physical job
Multiply your current weight by: 19

What I like about this is that you can get an idea quickly of how many calories your “should” be consuming in a day. A lot of times we have NO idea, and we just eat and eat until we are full. FYI we aren’t supposed to eat until we feel full (more on that another day). We need to eat what our bodies need (not what we want). What we need doesn’t have to be nasty either. I really enjoy my food. You should too. If weight loss is your goal though, you need to consume less calories than you burn. If you would like to gain weight you need to consume more than you burn. Remember this neat trick to figure out your magic number to weight loss or gain.

This meal plan is what Olympian Annett Davis will be eating during week two of the 2012 Spring Into Shape Challenge. This is NOT a diet plan. We are not doctors and are not giving advice. You must calculate your own calories for what your body needs. This is not a weight loss plan. The goal of this meal plan is healthy eating. Sure you could possibly lose weight, but that’s not our goal with this plan. You determine your portions. Here’s a “handy portion guide” which will help you decide how much to eat. To determine your daily caloric needs you can click here. Everyone’s goals are different, so please do what’s right for you.

I hope you enjoyed eating from your healthy meal plan last week. Feel free to use our free meal plan template to make your own meal plan, and put it on your fridge this week. Remember we are planning to succeed! If you are new this week, know that the attached meal plan is completely optional. You can try a meal or two or none at all. I know I get stuck in ruts sometimes, and meal plans like this help me to come up with new ideas that are tasty and sometimes adventurous for my family.
