I was just starting lap 2 when my bra broke...
As I approached my 30th birthday earlier this month, I was feeling decidedly wigged and depressed about it. Once I hit it though, those feelings morphed into a determination to quit being a lazy, fat, out-of-shape cow, and to really try to do something about my weight. Soooo, I have been doing a bit of stair climbing on and off for the last week, and I decided to make yesterday my kick-off day (again). The stats:

Weight on 4/20/08: 200 lbs
Goal: 140-150 lbs

Stairs climbed: 200
Distance Walked: 1.5 miles
Rooms vacuumed using hose attachment: 3 (and that's hard, calorie-burning work, let me tell ya)

Unfortunately, said mile and half walk was to and from Edwardo's Pizza... I blame kilted_kelt.

Anyhoo, since the weather looks like it will be mostly nice from here on out (knock on wood), I plan to try to walk at least a mile every afternoon after work, starting today. I would love to drop around 8-10 pounds a month. If I could be down to 170 by Breyerfest, that would rock.

Stiff

I did wash the kitchen floor last week. Hell of a workout, far more than I thought it would be. I was stiff the next day. :D

I have been ultra busy lately and ultra tired, and I just haven't been able to muster up any motivation to exercise. Or to do much besides go to work each day. I haven't painted since last week. I haven't cross stitched. All I've been doing is hanging out on the computer or reading. At least what I have been doing on the computer is mostly useful and will maybe generate some cashola eventually. But I've just been feeling so run down lately---tired, restless, and just flat out down. It's definitely SAD hitting me hard, harder than usual, I think. I've been doing some reading about it, and apparantly exercise and being outdoors are great for counter-acting the effects of seasonal depression. So with that in mind, I'm going to try to get my exercise mojo back. (And then I need to figure out how to move south again (never thought I'd say that) because the long winters and slanty light are *really* getting to me.)

I have been very good about my eating habits still. I've managed to get that routine in place, and I like the food I'm eating. Special K makes very tasty strawberry breakfast bars, and Yoplait yogurt is waaaaaaaaaay better than the Dannon stuff I've been eating for years. It's got more calories on average than Dannon---I had strawberry today which was 180 calories and 2.5 g of fat---but that's still far better than the vending machine crap I was eating. I am enamored of the peach and key lime pie varieties in particular. Yummy! The boy and I are trying to stick with our healthy dinners, too, and we're doing pretty well.

I am really amazed that I seem to have my chocolate cravings mostly under control. I have a pack of 4 chocolate covered mint Oreos in my drawer at work, and they've been sitting there untouched for 3 days. Three days! I've decided I will eat them after the Breeders Cup Classic on Saturday either as a victory toast or as a consolation in the face of defeat.

All that aside, I have found the perfect dessert for me: Skinny Cow ice cream cones. They're low fat, low calorie, and they taste divine! They taste just like sinfully fattening chocolate ice cream without all the sin. :D I allow myself one in the evenings, and that gets me through the day, knowing I have to behave if I'm going to have my dessert later. The ice cream bars they make are also really good. :)

Last rambling thought for the day... I'm going to make myself a daily check list so that I have to walk my stairs everyday, preferably twice. Lists seems to help keep me organized and motivated.

Unless using my carbide scraper to clean 10 years of burned on gunk off my stove counts. (For the record, the burned on gunk came with the apartment. Various cleaning products could not make a dent in it, and it only occurred to me recently that my super duper model horse prepping tool could be put to more good use in that department.)

I have, however, behaved myself rather well in the food department, and I find that I'm not craving chocolate and sweets quite as much as I used to.
I had a very crappy day yesterday, so I didn't exercise at all, and I splurged on 4 chocolate covered mint Oreos. They are horribly, evily, mouth-wateringly delicious...

I am behind on all things internet and sort of dreading checking my email. I am way behind on LJ, too, but I did at least get my ass outside for my walk today. :)

Distance Walked: 1.5 miles
Stairs Climbed: 38

Tomorrow morning will be my first weigh in.
