Especially when it comes to men. Sobriety was a much-desired quality, at least, for me.

There was not enough alcohol in the world especially even when we were more than done. Usually the time when the quietest fellow in the group hugs everyone and says that they love everyone – and then, begins to gently weep.

Beer and an assortment of liquors does that to you – but to some of us, that drama would turn into a nightmare especially if someone came back from work, pretty pissed off. The Millers, Coors and Budweisers pale in comparison to Asian & European beer – trust you me!

These days, in my thirties, the reformed douchebag in me, has moved into a "healthier place" – protein-rich breakfast, milk, regular workouts, B-complex pills and yes, even a better degree of hygiene that sits well with the fairer sex at any age. I'm trying, and should deserve some marks for that.

And no, I'm not doing these things to increase my chances of finding a soulmate but am just waking to the fact that being in the thirties requires a rehashing of one's priorities. Ones with long lasting consequences…

Trust me, you have to live in one extreme in order to appreciate the other… and it's a transition, I guess. And these three years have brought remarkable change in my life. Take for example, the inclusion of Vitamin D foods into my life…

Benefits of Vitamin D

When you look at the list of diseases that can spring up, thanks to a compromised immune system, you'll understand how important it is to get some sun and eat foods rich with Vitamin D.

If that's not enough, you'll have healthier bones and teeth while avoiding a serious drop in energy as well – that is probably required to meet the challenges of the day.

If you read this list of low Vitamin D symptoms, you'll probably appreciate the benefits that you can obtain when consuming Vitamin D foods and which will stand you in good stead in your old age.

Getting out in the sun also helps greatly, and if you're a telecommuting writer like me, you'll want to get out every once in a while!

So, what's the minimum daily intake of Vitamin D, you might ask?

Here's the list, and it's being outlined in details because one should ensure that they don't go over the top with it, in your quest for a healthier life.

1. Infants (0-6 months) – 25 micrograms

2. Infants (6-12 months) – 38 micrograms

3. Children (1 – 3 years) – 63 micrograms

4. Children (4-8 years) – 75 micrograms

5. children/ adolescents (9-18 years) – 100 micrograms

6. adults (19 years and above) – 100 micrograms

7. pregnant and lactating women – 100 micrograms

And so, let's look at the foods that will help you get this daily intake…

Vitamin D Foods – A List

Just remember that this list is not an exhaustive one… but a useful one all the same, and so here it is:

1. Cod liver oil

2. Margarine

3. Fortified butter

4. Fish such as Herring, Kippers, Salmon, Mackerel, Pilchard, Sardines, Tuna and Roe

5. Shrimp (boiled or steamed)

6. Cow's milk

7. Eggs (whole or boiled)

In Closing

Am not being preachy about this whole health upkeep business. Understanding your priorities and truly loving yourself will lead you to doing this anyways.

Yes, I know you "want to do" – probably, even when you're 70 years of age. It's bad enough that people now consider 60 to be the "new 40" and now this…

God, I'm mentally scarred just to imagine to old people "doing it" – makes me want to take a break from doing it for a couple of days until those horrific images recede to the back of my mind.

And yet we find people trying to use this "pill" because they want to get some action even though we can safely conclude that their time is past. Yes, your junk's not working – deal with it!

But when it comes to the dangers of AIDS, cancer and so on and so forth, we don't seem to be too bothered about that – now, are we?

Since you want to stay in bed all the time, let's hope your Vitamin D levels drop as low as possible…

(I know – crappy segway, so deal with it, sunshine!)

Vitamin D: An Introduction

For those of you who do get out a lot during the day, calciferol (or as we commonly refer to Vitamin D) is available freely to all, thanks to the life-giving rays of the sun. Of course, this nutrient is also available in Vitamin D foods such as vegetables, milk and egg yolk among others – and is considered to be very important in its metabolized form: calcitrol.

If you want strong teeth and bones in old age (as opposed to an eternal boner), then it's a good idea for you to keep those Vitamin D levels up – as it aids in the absorption and metabolism of calcium and phosphorus.

Vitamin D is also considered to be a immune system booster, without which, getting a "hard on" in old age might probably point to rigor mortis.

To say the least, its benefits are endless covering diseases such as asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, cancer, weight loss, a healthy brain in old age (the other head!) while reducing the risk of developing multiple sclerosis.

And how you treat your body in the 30s and 40s will eventually catch up with you when you're much older. (Also commonly referred to as the reformed douchebag with the monocles and all, as in this article.)

If the advice is unheeded, you can be sure that the problems that plague during your 50s and 60s won't be not getting a boner but will be due to low vitamin D…

Low Vitamin D Symptoms

Now there are two ways by which you might suffer from low Vitamin D symptoms, and that might because there is very low levels of this nutrient in your diet but it might also stem from the body's inability to absorb this nutrient normally.

So, here the symptoms that might indicate whether you have Vitamin D deficiency:

#1: Burning sensation in the throat and mouth, insomnia, diarrhea, appetite, weight loss and vision problems – sound alright to you?

#2: Weaker bones, multiple fractures, fatigue, depression, muscle pain, low immunity, rickets for those who need boner pills and osteomalacia in kids.

#3: Susceptibility to numerous disease because of a weak immune system

#4: Periodontal diseases (try dentures instead) and musculoskeletal pain in the limbs as well.

In Closing

I don't care much for people who have a "sunny disposition" – but honestly, get out more often, will you? No one loves prostate cancer…

A diet soda and a salad might seem like your idea of a light lunch, but that calorie-free drink could actually be helping you to pack on the pounds (or keeping you from losing them). Even if you're replacing high-calorie, high-sugar drinks such as regular soda with diet soda, you may not see any weight-loss success. The artificial sweeteners in diet sodas have a negative impact on your body that can negatively affect your weight-loss efforts. Here's how diet soda can actually lead to weight gain:

Increases Sugar Cravings

Diet soda trains your body to crave sugar. Research has shown that artificial sweeteners taste 200 to 13,000 times more sweet than regular sugar. Once your body becomes used to the taste of artificial sweetener, regular sugar may not be as satisfying. Eating sweet foods and drinks increases the craving for more sweet foods and drinks. Those who drink a lot of diet soda are more likely to eat richer desserts or more sweet foods in order to satisfy that craving, thereby eating more calories, sugar, and fat, leading to weight gain.

Raises Blood Sugar

Studies have shown that artificial sweeteners such as aspartame and saccharin can increase blood sugar levels, leading to weight issues and more serious conditions like diabetes. High blood sugar can undermine your body's ability to process sugar and lead it to store more fat. Unstable blood sugar levels can also contribute to overeating and to eating a lot of sweet foods and drinks, which contributes to weight gain.

Contributes to Overeating

Animal studies have shown that artificial sweeteners can interfere with brain chemistry. The body tastes sweets, and the brain expects to ingest more calories, but they are not received. Therefore, the brain sends a signal to continue eating to match the caloric intake with the taste signals. The more diet soda or artificial sweeteners that you consume, the more your brain will prompt you to eat in order to make up for those calories. Therefore, you may end up eating far more than you would have if you had drank regular soda or foods with full sugar instead of artificial sweeteners.

The next time you try to offset your burger and fry indulgence with a diet soda, consider indulging for the full meal and drinking a regular soda. Better yet, work on cutting out processed and sugary foods from your diet all together, instead creating a lifestyle change by adopting a whole foods diet and drinking more water. You will lose weight and keep it off in the long run, while also creating a healthier lifestyle and reducing your chances for developing health problems.

December 21, 2012. The day when the world is going to end, right? Really now?

OMG, the number of conspiracy theories that are revealing themselves, thanks to the internet, are just appalling.

Bible verses fall from the skies, and doomsayers (who are presumably half-scientists & half-fiction writers) are letting it all hang out. Solar flares, the reversal of the Earth's poles and God knows what not. This is boom time for the rumor mills, if you will!

Who knew John Cusack's movie would make such an impact on the world, and the date when the Mayan and the Jewish Calendar seemingly run out of numbers.

Astrology & the Age of Aquarius…

We live in times that are illogical. Emotion has more sway over the logic, it seems. But all that seems to be changing as we, according to popular astrologers, are moving into the Age of Aquarius from the Age of Pisces.

There's a lot of speculation about the connection between Christianity and this earlier age – with the symbol of fish coming up over and over again, if you study the Bible closely.

Carl Jung was the one who made these connections, strangely enough…

Now, as of November 11, 2011, we ushered in a new era. One that most experts consider to be an "intellectual" era where human beings are spiritual and not religious. Where we connect with the higher vibrations in us… and the world begins to appreciate all things Aquarius!

But for those who have no clue what astrology is about, the journey to understanding this collective consciousness that has made its way into our lives begins with understanding the basics – the astrological sign and mood.

Astrological Sign and Mood – Should You Really Care?

Right off the bat, there are several people who might either tune out or just reject the fact that this form of superstition should really be given any importance. And it's cool, really.

For those of you who want to understand it, here we go:

Almost everyone knows that we have twelve signs in the Zodiac – with Aries being the first and Pisces being the last, and are divided into four different groups – Earth, Fire, Air & Water.

Each of these groups represent a vital quality of the signs that fall in each group and they are:

Earth – practical & tend to use common sense

Fire – enthusiastic and action oriented

Air – tend to be idea-oriented and have strong communication skills

Water – intuitive and emotional compared to the other signs

Now you must also know that it isn't about the Sun Sign but there are three other key parts of your Natal Horoscope that you must consider, and they are: Ascendant, North Node and Moon Sign, where they could all be different or the same signs.

Each of these parts of your horoscope add up to the "sum" that is YOU – and this is why two Leos are never the same, although the way they process Life will be through that fun-loving approach that they are so famous for – although they might never show it.

I understand but it took me about three years to comprehend how the system works! It's a beautiful study provided you take the time to understand it.

In Closing

While the outcome remains to be seen as to what happens on December 21, 2012, my bet is on the astrology folks and what they known and who I've known since 2008.

So, what do you think about astrology, and rather controversially, the coming Age of Aquarius…

Which is why managers prefer to play golf while the staff prefer games like baseball and football.

What they call sports for men… seriously! I know people love Tiger Woods for his classiness – but can you really call golf a game, honestly? No one breaks a sweat, leave alone strenuous effort and most of all, all you do is hit a ball with a crooked stick, walk after it and hit it again.

I think Micky Mantle and Joe DiMaggio really achieved something – and Tiger, you must be stupid to even call him an athlete! Golf is not a sport – but just a game, no matter how you go on about how much skill it requires.

Frankly, show me how much balls you've got by playing a real sport like football (or in some other countries – rugby)… probably the only sport where men can just be themselves with no fear, hot dogs, beer and all.

For me, it's like making a comparison between beef and chicken… where beef wins out every time. It's a man's meat, to say the least!

American Football – Intensity, Speed, Guile and Teamwork

Anyone who's played or watched American football knows how important it is for teams to imbibe these winning qualities. It's always about that extra inch because the competition is so intense.

To say the least, it's brutal…

Yet the rewards for coming out on top (winning the Super Bowl) are immense – fame, money, power & prime pussy – you name it! Which is why the competition is so intense in the first place…

Ads, million-dollar contracts and the adulation of fans is something that goes a long way in living a successful life – not unless you like it there, under the bed, hiding away from the world.

Speaking of the fans, you can bet your last dollar that they will be emulating their favorite (larger-than-life) stars, trying to make passes or runs and so on and so forth, when they're not watching their favorite team or players in action!

(Another sport that is so off-the-charts in this aspect is Ice Hockey – man, are the fans nuts or what?)

And if you didn't know – the game would have met its end in 1905, thanks to the death of many players during that year and if not for the change in rules such as the forward pass – which is the very reason why football is what it is today. A sport of speed and skill and not just brute force.

How to Throw a Spiral Pass

The objective of the spiral pass is to cover long distances with accuracy and speed, and unlike other passes are spun so that it travels in a smooth arc and doesn't wobble or tumble.

Here's a link to a video which teaches you how to throw a spiral, as taught by a former quarterback from the University of Kentucky. Here's another link which instructs you what to do when throwing a spiral.

In Closing

And what makes the year 2012 exciting is the fact that we will have an American Football League in Asia for the very first time, thanks to Brandon Chillar, of Indian origin. As ridiculous as that sounds, it's going to be fun, alright… and cricket (and forgetting golf) can go to hell as far as I'm concerned!

Yes, it all begins in the buildup to Thanksgiving and carries on until Christmas, where our sole responsibility is to spread good cheer and engage in goodwill.

It's a time when we become righteous human beings bearing a sensitivity like no other for this entire month – and then move back to being our real selves as soon as the moment is past.

How convenient? Considering the fact that there are people out there who are sensitive to allergies regardless of whether it's the winter or summer season.

Why can't we be a bit more consistent, really?

Of course, in terms of those who struggle with winter allergies during this time, it's worse because they tend to miss out on all the fun…

Winter Vs. Summer Allergies

While most people are acquainted with summer allergies, there's no respite during the winter as these allergies intensify, thanks to the cold weather.

Some people who suffer during the summer might get away during the winter but most folks who have to deal with these conditions in the early part of the year find no reprieve during the winter either. And it gets worse

That's the reality of suffering with allergies, I'm sorry to say. But you probably know this already…

Among the numerous reasons why one might get an allergy during this time, here are the top three allergens that make their presence felt during this time of the year:

#1: Pet Dander

Well, since no one wants to get out during this time (including your pets), there are chances that you will have to deal with more dander than ever. That sucks – but yes, that's the reason why some folks suffer from an allergy. You have to find a way to get them out more often during this time.

#2: Mold & Pollen

With the season of winter comes the cold and dampness, and thanks to yard waste apart from decaying leaves, mold and pollen can form, and end up in your shoes and clothes.

#3: Damp Wood

Storing wood outside during winter causes the formation of mold spores, thanks to the dampness of the season. Anyone who is sensitive to this kind of allergy will get it as soon as you bring it into your home as firewood.

Of course, you can't get rid of all these items or your sensitivity, so the best way to avoid an allergy in the winter should be possible, if you follow these simple steps.

Winter Allergies – Tips to avoid them

Tip #1: First & foremost, be aware of all the possible allergens that might be in the air during this time. Staying informed can help prevent you getting these allergies.

Tip #2: Washing your hands off dust and possible allergens is the best thing that you can do. If you feel the allergy coming on, take a hot shower!

Tip #3: Wash the sheets you sleep on or even look for an allergy mattress to avoid pet dander and dust mites.

Finally, if you are already suffering from an allergy, see a doctor immediately. You'll have to treat both the allergy with medication as well as the resulting nasal congestion that occurs. Drinking fluids during this time is an excellent idea.

In Closing

And whether or not you suffer with an allergy, make sensitivity an ongoing thing throughout the year – it's the least we can do as humans, you know. Give, and you will receive…

During my time, all I tried to do is get them to understand the importance of being open-minded, of taking time to challenge tradition and ways that are now considered to be integral to living an honest Christian life. Not to just accept things for what they are…

I was as successful as trying to get a woman to spend money from her pocket… talk about opening Pandora's Box!

And all I got was: judgement not forgetting irrational behavior that can be expected for religious zealots. As disappointing as this was, thank goodness I didn't tell them what I thought of the old testament and the story of Eve falling prey to the 'snake'.

(Yes, ladies… watch out for the "snake" – or else you'll get a crash course in what feels so gooooood but is so evil!)

Sex – it's good for you, not only in terms of fitness but also if you live in areas where it gets colder than usual. It's one of the best ways to stay warm not unless you fancy spitting – acknowledging the "trysexual" and naughty side of you!

Of course, there are other ways to stay warm, but before that, here's a note on hypothermia and mortality rates in the United States during winter.

US Mortality Rates during Winter & Hypothermia

It took only a few minutes for those aboard the Titanic to die as soon as they hit the water. Reason being the temperate of water was as minus 2 degrees centigrade. No, there were no Coast Guards those days, not that it would have mattered anyways, considering the shitty reputation they have these days.

Anyways, according to a report by the US National Center for Health Statistics between 2001 and 2007, more people have died between the months of December and March than in the other months.

And the difference is almost a 100,000 deaths between the the months during others seasons and winter – such is the impact of hypothermia.

You don't need me to tell you how important it is for you to stay warm… no, it's not an excuse to do you-know-what… oh but it is… (cough cough)

How to Stay Warm

If you're expecting some methods that have been invented by rocket science by which you can stay warm, there aren't any. Instead, here are some simple tips that are available (and evident) to the most one track minded fuckwit on God's green earth:

#1: Winter Wear

Using winter wear is probably the simplest way to keep from getting cold. There are new fangled products such as thermal underwear (so much for chastity belts, and now this!!!) among which Under Armour Coldgear is one such company that offer good stuff to keep you warm, especially in the places which matters most.

#2: Exercise

Easier said than done but then there are fun winter exercise options that can not only help you burn off those calories but keep you warm. Refrain from parking your behind just because it's the holidays, OK?

#3: Alcohol

I'm not suggesting that you go on a binge but it wouldn't be such a bad idea to have a couple of shots. The least it will do for you is warm up your insides, and piss your wife or spouse… perfect dumb guys recipe for makeup sex the following morning, my brothers!

#4: Heater/ Fireplace

Dead heroes are no good to anyone. Get a heater or freeze to death. It's as simple as that. A fireplace won't be such a bad idea either as you'll have to chop some wood to enjoy some downtime by the fire, during the evening.

In Closing

And yes, once you eat the fruit from that tree of good and evil, you won't just be warm – you'll be hot as hell! Just remember to scream while you're at it…

However, there's one area where it works flawlessly – for a spouse that can't shut up, and who doesn't have the balls to be good at anything including the all-important topic of infidelity.

A little "energy boost" would do the trick – in having some peace and quiet around, don't you think?

(And this goes for both men and women – not just the fairer sex, who are often labeled as nags. Not so – there are some men who really need to get a life.)

While negative reinforcement might not be such a good idea with dogs, it would work well with some of these losers, who can't think of anything better to do than complain, complain and complain all day long.

In fact, you should hand over the controls to your pet dog – especially the earlier versions that were designed to punish dogs for undesirable behavior.

You won't be surprised how humane they might turn out to be… yes, they deserve a dog treadmill or two!

Shock Collars – An Introduction

As mentioned earlier, these animals were subjected to shocks that were strong, to say the least, and ever since dog training have changed to use positive reinforcement – which is something that you have to have knowledge of, whether you teach kids or undergraduate students…

And somehow we've missed the point of using this method on animals until some of them got tired of these electric shocks and went berserk. C'mon, if you push anyone past their limits, it would be stupid and blind to not expect such as a reaction.

Precisely why your spouse will never see it coming…

These days, the electric collars are designed to emit a shock that's lesser in intensity but still serves the purpose of keeping a dog under control – such as staying within a perimeter or to silence them when they bark.

But as with all things, there are pros and cons to anything and everything that exists, and so let's look at the pros and cons of a shock collar.

Shock Collar - Pros & Cons

Pro #1: There are some types of collars that are better than shock collars such as the noise electronic collar that can be used to quieten a dog down by emitting a loud noise that only the dog can hear.

Pro #2: If you have an aggressive pet, these shock collars might work only to a certain extent as they'll take you for a walk instead of the other way. Again, if used too many times, it can worsen the aggressiveness.

Pro #3: Might work for dogs that are deaf – but has to be used very carefully

Con #1: Very very bad invention that should just not be used for dogs that are passive – aggressive ones, maybe – trainers still think it's not a good way to treat either type of dog.

Con #2: Most training occurs within six months of age, and these collars are recommended to be used after this age limit. Trust me – it's not worth it because owners don't know the difference between control and cruelty.

Con #3: Shock collars are expensive and might need a change in batteries just when you might need to control.

In Closing

And if shock collars don't work with your "bitter half" – next up: car batteries. Sorry folks, desperate times call for desperate measures… especially if they're one of those types that constantly needs some 'excitement'…

Former glamour model Jodie Marsh will star in a documentary about her attempts to become a natural bodybuilder over the course of two months.

In order to get into shape, Jodie gave up drinking and late-night clubbing and worked hard at developing her physique. Eight weeks later, and celeb Jodie shows off her new muscles to the confused media, thus proving that if anyone goes through the right fitness regime, they get the results.

Through hard work, dedication and determination, Jodie achieved her desired figure, and this is also the case for many professional bodybuilders and athletes. However, they also get an extra boost through using a range of bodybuilding supplements. Using natural supplements can help to improve your fitness, build muscles and accelerate the bodybuilder’s progress.

One of the most popular supplements is protein powders. You can buy protein powder from health food shops on the high street or from dedicated online retailers, who have extensive knowledge of which supplements are right for their customers’ needs.

Protein powder enjoys popularity amongst bodybuilders and athletes from all backgrounds because of its many benefits. It comes in several varieties, has great versatility when used in cooking and performs vital functions that your body needs.

The different types of protein powder include whey, pea, egg white and casein (milk). The whey and egg white varieties are widely regarded as the best of the lot, as they’re low in fat and, as they derive from dairy products, they contain more protein than other protein powders.

It may surprise you, but protein powders can be used for cooking. Protein powders are often used to make shakes by adding juice, milk or water, but other recipes out there include brownies, meal replacement bars and pancakes. In liquid forms, protein shakes are consumed as meal replacements.

While both the taste and variety are impressive, it is the nutritional qualities of protein powders that stand out. Protein is essential in the body’s growth and repair, which is why athletes consume protein powder in some form before and after working out. Protein powders can also help with weight gain, which if managed correctly, can aid muscle building. However, if consuming protein powders, you need to make sure you’re eating and living healthily, as consuming this supplement won’t have the desired effect.

I like titties and beer. So said Frank Zappa, and I concur… with the whole simple thing. But thanks to some double standards in society now, men aren't allowed to look at a woman's tits even if she's wearing a tee that usually fits a third-grader.

It's just as pretentious as the phrase "Don't fuckin' use bad language"… which is what I say when a woman tells me to not swear so much – as if she knew how much is enough! Incorrigible, I know… but I'd like to know who made these rules in the first place!

But I'll tell you who gets away with murder, ladies… the ass-men as opposed to milk-men… there's no need for subtlety there, not unless you have eyes at the back of your head…

And bachelors… which is why I'm still unmarried… and am enjoying these times for however long it will last… and then, it'll be time to hide the forks and knives once that delightful time of the month comes…

Not unless she's had many years of experience as a "knife thrower" at the local circus… and even then, she'll catch you offguard, and perform an incisive surgery into that thick skull of yours before you can get spew out the expletive in the phrase "What the…".

(Someone's counting the number of f***s I've used so – am hoping these three stars would cause them to lose count!)

And it's just as harrowing when a woman tells you that she's going to "throw up" the next morning, after a long long night of telling you how much of a cave-man you are…

Oh yes, your goose is cooked, pal… "daddy cool" and all that jazz! Time to bail, you spineless prick, right? Medication never looked so good, now would it? For the clinically insane, of course…

Until you find out – it was something that she ate that didn't agree with her stomach, and it had nothing to do with your manhood…

Of course, she took the pill… because she's anything but as stupid as you are! And this time, it's a birth control patch that she used…

Birth Control Path – Pros & Cons

Called the Ortho Evra Patch, it's considered to be 99 % effective (some daggers miss, you know) but should not be used by women on antibiotics or who are overweight.

Pros

#1: Once you place this patch in the butt or abdominal region area, you won't have to worry about remembering to take a pill every time you're in the mood. Of course, the condom companies timed it perfectly because most numbskulls kill themselves trying to open a packet containing a condom.

#2: Periods are shorter and lighter – meaning no knife throwing fantasies.

#3: Reduced risk of ovarian and endometrial cancer.

#4: Works as a prevention against etopic pregnancy and pelvic inflammatory disease.

Cons

#1: Skin reactions – and we know how touchy women can get when this happens.

#2: Bleeding during periods, headaches and mood changes are known to occur

#3: No protection against sexually transmitted diseases

#4: Women suffering from depression will only worsen it, if they use this birth control patch

Oh, and you have to remove the patch when that "dagger throwing" time of the month is nigh…

In Closing

And Zeus continues to laugh, for setting Pandora in all her glory, in the midst of mortal men… so much for fighting fire with fire, huh?
