Serving spit-roasted meat at your wedding is a popular tradition, and it’s a great way to ensure that all of your guests are full and satisfied. It can get costly to serve a lot of meat at your event, but following these five simple tips can help you save money while offering an excellent spread for your loved ones.

1. Try a More Affordable Cut of Meat

Prime beef and lamb are very popular types of spit-roasted meats at many weddings, but they aren’t your only options. If you’re looking for a way to save money, consider chicken instead. It’s typically more affordable but is also very versatile and generally well-liked.

2. Serve with Sandwich Fixings

Many people enjoy eating their roasted meat on sandwiches, and serving sandwich fixings is also a good way to make your meat go a little bit farther. Try serving several different types of rolls and bread, multiple types of condiments, vegetables to serve on the sandwiches and more. People are sure to enjoy their delicious sandwiches, and you won’t need as much meat when people are filling themselves up with their other fillings.

3. Serve with a Salad

Serving a salad at your wedding is a great way to make it feel a little bit fancier, plus it’s yet another way to fill your guests up without using so much meat. Your vegetarian and vegan guests are also sure to appreciate the fact that you have a non-meat option at your wedding, and you might not have to serve a vegetarian-friendly entree if you serve a large enough salad.

4. Do Some of It Yourself

Although you might want to leave the job of roasting your spit-roasted meat up to the professionals, you can save a little bit of money by serving your own desserts and drinks. You can ask a family member to make the desserts, or you can order them from a bakery — either way, it will probably be cheaper than ordering them from the catering company. You can also find out if you can bring your own alcohol and beer to the venue — since alcohol-related costs are generally extremely high, this can leave more room in your budget for extra meat.

5. Use Disposable Plates and Cutlery

Why not use disposable plates and cutlery to serve your spit-roasted meat and side dishes? When it’s prepared properly, roasted meat will fall off of the bone and is super-tender, so you shouldn’t have to worry about needing heavy plates for cutting. You can cut costs by using affordable, disposable plates and cutlery, plus clean-up will be a whole lot easier.

There are a lot of great spit roast catering companies out there. Along with shopping around for a reasonable price on this popular roasted meat, you can also remember these five tips to save a little bit of money.

While in Australia and the US Chinese food has traditionally been sold as one cuisine, in reality Chinese food differs all over China. In fact, each of the 22 provinces has its own special blend of cooking, with eight identified as completely unique regional cuisines.

Luckily for Chinese food lovers, these cuisines are increasingly being recognised in the West and it’s now possible to try them all. Here is a brief look at three of the most popular Chinese cuisines that can be found in restaurants in Australia today.

Cantonese food comes from the Guangdong Province and has been popularised in Chinese restaurants all over the world, with the majority of Chinese restaurant owners setting up restaurants of Cantonese origin. Dishes are sweeter, usually made from seafood, pork and chicken and with light and mellow sauces like hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, plum sauce and sweet and sour sauce. Cantonese cooking favours braising, stewing and sautéing as preferred cooking methods. Popular dishes include Beef or Broccoli with Oyster Sauce, Barbeque Spareribs, Sweet and Sour Pork and Salt and Pepper Prawns.

Sichuan cuisine is the most widely served food in China and is famous for its use of the Sichuan pepper, which makes it extremely spicy. It is characterised by its pungent bold flavours, a combination of hot, sour, sweet and salty. It uses a great variety of ingredients including poultry, pork, beef, fish, vegetables and tofu and cooking methods such as stir-frying, baking, sautéing, dry-sautéing and steaming. Famous dishes include Hot and Sour soup, Ants Climbing a Tree (ground pork on vermicelli noodles), Crispy Sichuan Beef and Chicken with Orange Peel.

Lu/Shandong cuisine originates from the cooking style of Shandong, a northern coastal province of China and is popular throughout Beijing, Tianjin and Northeast China. It is known for the freshness and quality of its ingredients, most notably seafood such as scallops, prawns, clams and sea cucumbers and offal. Other popular ingredients include corn, peanuts, vegetables and small grains such as millet, wheat and oat. It is characterised by quick frying, stir-frying and deep fat frying and is known to be salty and crispy. Its most well known dish is Sweet and Sour Carp. Others include Calamus In Milk Soup and Braised Abalone.

A huge and ancient country, China offers a smorgasbord of flavours, many of which are now offered in Australia at restaurants like Sun Wah Restaurant & Function Centre. So next time you head-out for Chinese why not get adventurous and try one of the many different cuisines and dishes on offer.

Australia is a vast continent that offers stunning beaches, iconic landmarks and food that’s unique to the adventurous spirit that characterizes those native to that region of the world. If you’re traveling to Australia, or you’re staying home but are about to embark on your first visit to an Australian restaurant, here are five of the most common dishes served in Australian restaurants to educate your palate.

1. Damper — Damper is a circular soda bread that’s often served when you sit down in a typical Australian restaurant. It was originally developed by early inhabitants of the continent as comfort food, and was baked on an iron pot that hung over coal beds. The name ‘damper’ derives from the fact that the cooking fire is ‘damped’ so that only the ashes from the coals bake the bread. Damper is made from wheat flour, sugar, milk and butter, and has a hard, crunchy exterior and a moist, chewy middle. You can slather it with butter, dip it in oil or eat it plain.

2. Lamb Roast — Like mutton in Great Britain, lamb roast is a hearty, traditional Australian dish that’s served in many restaurants. It’s a comfort food that utilizes olive oil, rosemary and garlic that is finely roasted and served with potatoes.

3. ‘Snags’ & Tomato Sauce — A ‘snag’ is a slice of sausage that’s barbecued on a grill and served on a folded slice of bread with an onion garnish and tomato sauce poured over the top. Snags are a popular restaurant item that feature pork or beef sausages and are as ubiquitous to Australian restaurants as hamburgers and hot dogs are in American eateries.

4. Chiko Roll — A chiko roll is an authentic Australian egg roll that improves on the original Chinese version by adding heaps of chicken into the filling. It’s a food that’s offered at many Australian restaurants that’s meant to be eaten by hand. In addition to chicken, chiko rolls are filled with cabbage, carrots, celery, onions, rice and spices, and can also be dipped in sauces such as sweet and sour and honey mustard. Some chiko rolls are filled with ground lamb and shrimp for variety.

5. Kangaroo Grill — Australian restaurants like Currambine Bar & Bistro also serve grilled kangaroo meat, which is a popular alternative to beef because it’s leaner in texture and lower in saturated fat. Because it’s easy to over grill this lean meat, most restaurants serve kangaroo medium or medium well to maximize the flavor and retain tenderness. It’s often spiced with garlic, rosemary, salt and pepper, and served with vegetables and white rice.

A large part of being (and staying!) in business these days is promoting your business. As a business owner, you probably know all about the importance of general marketing. Hopefully, you have a killer website and regularly send out fliers, coupons, or other kinds of promotional literature. Sometimes, though, it’s important to step outside of the box and to do something new and exciting to let your current clients know you care and to show potential customers and clients all that you have to offer.

One of the easiest ways to get attention and to get your business to stand out is to host promotional events on a regular basis. You can host events to let people know about a new product or service, to raise money for a worthy cause and show you’re invested in your community, or just to give your business a boost.

Don’t just do something “run of the mill” like hosting a raffle or inviting your customers out for customer appreciation day. Really go all out and do something that hasn’t been done a hundred times before.

A Parade of Products

Are you launching a new line of products at work? If so, there’s no better way to show them off than with a parade. Create unique posters, artwork, or displays to showcase new items your business is offering and then parade them right on down the street or even just through the office parking lot. Showing your items in such a fun way is sure to garner attention, and you can keep peoples’ interest afterwards by holding drawings to give away new items to a lucky few attendees. The potential of getting something new and shiny is enough to draw people to your event.

If you don’t think you could pull off a whole parade on your own, find out about local parades in your area and consider entering a float that showcases your business and its products.

Present Your People

Do you have people who’ve done impressive things working for you? Maybe you have a published author in the workplace, a local pageant winner at the reception desk, or well known customers who are willing to do some promo work for your business in exchange for free goodies.

Find interesting people in the workplace and then host an event that allows people in the community (i.e. potential customers) to come out for a meet and greet.

Other Fun Ideas

At the end of the day, all people are looking for is a good time, and if you can find a way to get people to associate that “good time” with your products and/or services, you can’t go wrong. Whether you throw a karaoke bash, offer a wine and cheese get together, or just rent out a booth at a local street fair, the point is to find fun ways to connect with current and future clients alike. When you do that, you’re sure to get positive results. You can also try contacting a professional, like, Stedmans Hospitality Personnel & Training P/L, for more information and ideas. They could also help you implement any ideas you may have.

One of my most important household appliances is my coffee maker. Without coffee in the morning I would have a really hard time getting up and ready for work. Once I have my cup of steaming, freshly brewed coffee in my hand I feel happier already, even before I begin to drink it.

One of the best things about my workplace is there awesome domestic coffee machines that are always stocked with plenty of supplies. In the breakroom at work we have two coffee machines. One of the machines brews each cup of coffee fresh from a new supply of freshly ground coffee beans. The other machine is a regular drip coffee machine that makes about eight cups in a carafe for everyone to fill their cup from.

There are several different types of coffee to brew, including flavored creamers, sugar, sugar substitute, cinnamon, milk, and cream. In the afternoon I sometimes help myself to the yummy, free coffee at work and I am glad to always find everything fully stocked for the employees, including styrofoam cups and coffee stir sticks. I think that a supply of coffee at works makes the employees more happy and more productive at work.

For more on domestic coffee machines, check out Coffee Shrine.

There are times when having routines is beneficial, but if you are stuck in the routine of visiting the same restaurant every week and eating the same dish, then you are missing out on a variety of unique restaurants. Make a pact with yourself and the family or friends with whom you dine out with to visit a new restaurant at least every other week for a brand new culinary experience.

There are a wide variety of restaurants in Penrith, and you should try a Japanese Habachi restaurant for an experience you will find nowhere else. The Habachi chefs prepare your meal right in front of you and make sure the display is entertaining and fun. Another type of restaurant that is great to visit with a large group is a Tapas restaurant. Tapas restaurants originally offered Spanish-style cuisine, but the variety of Tapas restaurants has expanded to offer many other cuisine types. Tapas restaurants serve small, appetizer size plates that are meant to be shared and enjoyed with other members of your dining party. Each diner orders a few tapas dishes and gets to sample the dishes of everyone else, as well. Family-style Italian restaurants are fun as well, like Valentino’s Woodfire Pizzeria & Restaurant. You should experiment and try as many dishes as you can instead of staying in a dining rut.

Most everyone knows of the benefits of drinking filtered water. Water is obviously a very essential part of life, and filtering your water before drinking it can make it even healthier and more delicious. However, many people don’t know about the many different options that are available when it comes to water filters. While many take advantage of water pitchers that have a built in filter and water filters that attach to a faucet, there is another filter option that often gets overlooked simply because people don’t realize it exists. One of the most convenient types of water filters is an undersink water filter in Perth. There are several advantages to choosing this type of filter over other types.

One of the nicest advantages of using an undersink water filter in Perth is that it can allow you to get clean, filtered water straight from your tap, rather than making you take up extra space in your fridge with a special pitcher. This saves valuable fridge space and also eliminates the need to constantly refill your filter pitcher each day. Undersink filters are also a great replacement for filters that attach to your faucet. Rather than having a bulky attachment on your faucet, an undersink filter stays out of sight, giving your kitchen a neater appearance.

One place to get this kind of filter is the Water Filter Warehouse.

When I decided to open a child care centre several years ago, I thought at first that I would hire a cook to prepare snacks and meals for the children. Although this worked out for awhile, the cook that I hired soon moved on to another job and I had to flounder along until I was able to replace her. However, she too soon left, and I had to place yet another ad for a cook. Keeping good cooks is difficult to do, though, and I soon decided to take the advice of a friend and use the services of a Melbourne child care catering company. I’m certainly glad that I made this decision. They provide healthy food geared for growing children at a reasonable cost, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the parents of the children who I care for were very impressed when I started using the Melbourne child care catering company.

I honestly believe that this sort of service is the wave of the future. It has worked out much better for me than hiring a cook at my own facility. One of my favorite aspects of this service is that I’m not left hanging if a cook decided to quit or needs to take a sick day.

If you are tired of bringing the same old cheese and veggie trays to get-togethers, why not try bringing something completely different? Sushi party platters at Perth parties are always a big hit and will definitely earn you some admiration from your host. Sushi is interesting, colorful and flavorful, and party platters will provide plenty of conversation. Not only are they a bit out of the ordinary, but they are a great way to introduce non-Sushi eaters to this healthy food.

Because presentation is an integral part of sushi preparation, sushi party platters at Perth dinner parties can sometimes provide more of a focal point than the main course. The main ingredient is not raw fish but rice, so there is usually a white element that contrasts with the various wrappers. The rice is wrapped in fish, leaves, nori (an aquatic plant), bamboo, tofu or vegetables. When fish is used, it adds shades of pink and red to the individual pieces.

Party platters usually include round sliced rolls or square pressed sushi artfully presented with traditional Japanese garnishes. Most platters include a range of flavors from sweet to spicy. You can also choose vegetarian and red meat sushi for those who are hesitant about entering the sushi world. But since sushi is so intriguing, they will probably try the fish and shellfish before the night is over. Sushi party platters are sure to attract interest, and will definitely bring some personality to the buffet table.
