Yes, we're all getting sick of it, but we have to keep writing about them until they are destroyed...

As usual, the online debate rapidly devolved into tedious discussions about the finer points of recent Canadian law and history. Meanwhile, Canadian human rights commissions and tribunals, while slightly wounded by one of their own, lived to tyrannize our fellow citizens another day.

Not being a lawyer myself (thank goodness), I’m not inclined to enter into such conversations. Instead, my online response to the Hadjis development was simply this: “For 20 years, the bad guys got to pretend that something was constitutional. For the next 20 years, we get to say it isn’t.”

Because the human rights commissions and tribunals were never “real” to begin with, arguing these finer points of the law simply accords them legitimacy to which they aren’t entitled.

I don’t just mean that Section 2 of the Charter grants all Canadians freedom of speech and almost any restriction on that freedom therefore does not merit my adherence.

I don’t just mean that the 1990 Taylor decision (in which a split Supreme Court declared it legitimate for the state to prosecute “evil” speech) was a case of “legislating from the bench” and that therefore, again, I’m not obliged to adhere to Section 13 either.

I mean that the Charter of Rights and Freedoms is itself – to borrow back a locution Mark Steyn has since borrowed from me – “a worthless piece of crap.” (...)

the U.S. Constitution was divinely inspired and crafted by geniuses the likes of which the world had never seen and will never see again; the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, on the other hand, was cobbled together a few years ago by a bunch of mediocrities.

It. Doesn’t. Matter. What. It. Says.

The Charter has as much import and impact upon my life as the instruction manual that came with my microwave.

It’s bad enough they gave the Teleprompter Kid one of those Peace Prizes for not doing anything. But now the South Koreans gave him a black belt in karate – even though he’s never had a lesson!

Jesse Jackson just said if you voted against socialist medicine, you couldn’t call yourself a black man, but I guess even if you don’t know karate, you can still call yourself a black belt!

Reporters picking on kids because of their t-shirts now.

It was nice to see/hear someone like Glenn Beck defending me. I will clear up some of the stuff he said about me. I am 17, the man next to me was not my father and I cannot stand Miley Cyrus.

He was right, however, in 2 areas. I do attend a private school (parochial-Christian school) and my dad is a Bible thumping, gun toting man.

I wish I could have thought quicker on my feet for that interview and threw it right back into O’Donnell’s face but I was caught off guard I had no time to think clearly, you can also add in nerves of being on live television for the first time. That certainly did not help.

It's especially fun since they lose every single fight they pick with me -- to the point of being called out in Parliament for their harassment.

It's sad, really...

Ignatieff's war crime comments weren't a slip of the tongue; they were the reiteration of Ignatieff's long-held views about Israel -- views that may have been fashionable in Ignatieff's academic circles in the U.K., but that are shockingly out of touch with Canadian political norms.

Take this insane rant that Ignatieff wrote for London's Guardian in 2002. Funny enough, I came across that article courtesy of Warren Kinsella, who wrote on this website that he "objected to" Ignatieff's comparison of Israel to "the fascism of apartheid".

Apparently Kinsella no longer objects to that grotesque comparison, for he's scrubbed his criticism from his blog, and went to work for Ignatieff as a senior aide. But I agree with the old Kinsella: Ignatieff's comparison of apartheid South Africa to democratic, pluralistic Israel, where Arabs sit in the Knesset and even on the Supreme Court, is odious.

True, in 2006, President Amadinejad was not able to speak at Columbia because the notice given was too short. However, in 2007, Columbia University was able to provide security for him. And yet they could not provide it for Darwish. In 2006, Holocaust-denier Norman Finkelstein spoke at Columbia and in 2009, anti-Zionist Israeli journalist Amira Hass spoke at Columbia–both without incident. Neither speaker was canceled. Next week, Noam Chomsky is speaking there. In Darwish’s view, “I doubt Chomsky will even need any security.”
