It has been a long couple of weeks, with lots of changes in the works.

The first is going to be this site. You see, I think it might be time to change things up. I have been here for 4.5 years, and I think I am on the cusp of going back to a career, and I think this site has been out grown, so to speak. So I have purchased a new url, and this url will be forwarded to the new site, too.

About My Past Life

So, as you may or may not be aware, I am a Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist here in California, and before I had kids I was in practice (and after my first child I practiced for a while, too). During my time away, I have really been able to explore art, creativity, and mindful practices. So my new venture will be combining what I have studied in terms of our energetic lives (qi/ chi/ prana), with art, creativity, and living mindfully in a chaotic world. Chinese Medicine gives us a detailed energetic map of the human experience, and provides a opportunity to really explore our lives in a new and creative way.

I am really excited!

Part of the adventure will be workshops (locally at first), and en e-course in 2010.

So stay tuned... I should have the new site up in a week or two!

I know it has been a while since I have been here, and since I have updated my shop. But I have been busy making things, and this new print is the first of a series I will be putting up for sale in the shop::

This print has a lyrics from a song we sing at Mothersong, and after singing it to myself day in and day out, I thought I would share it with all of you! The print reads:

The Summer's End

Well, this kid starts kindergarden tomorrow. Fo real. Can you believe it? I can't believe she is old enough, and so ready for the big leagues. Remember this? And this?

So we are here, at the crossroads. She is turning 5 in a couple of weeks, and she is so ready to learn and play at a new level. We are so excited here! I cannot wait until she can read to me.

For her birthday, Poppy has asked to adopt a raptor. We are going to do the adoption through here. Our new house has a pair of Great Horned Owls that live near us, and so we hear them and see them every once in a while.

Here's to a new adventure in school!

Getting Into It

I finally got my box from KnitPicks, and I am in love with this yarn. It is alpaca and silk, and like I said, I am going to make a Clapotis. The color is Cumulus, and it is the perfect combination of neutral grays and beige.

I also am playing with my new options needles... and all I can say is "ahhhh". The cable bends as I please (as opposed to my bamboo needles), and the join is smooth, smooth, smooth. No snagging here. And the sharp tips make my lace section of the February Lady Sweater a breeze.

I also had to get a little fabric for my girl before it all sold out again: This is from Far, Far Away by Heather Ross. If you are not familiar with her fabric be prepared to spend some money: they are all so perfect! I am in love with this princess and the pea fabric; it is a beautiful Japanese cotton, and I think I may even just frame a repeat for the room: it's too cute!

Waiting For New Knits

So, I finally did it. After frustration after frustration, I ordered a new needle set from KnitPicks. Their options interchangeable set is excellent for knitting, lace, for faster knitting, and the join is supposed to be smooth, smooth, smooth. I am currently working on my February Lady Sweater with bamboo circs, and I tell you, the blunt tips (even blunter from all the years of use) and the sticky join is just about taking out all the fun!

So instead of going Addi, I am going to try the Knitpick set. I also threw in a little yarn to make a highly wearable clapotis. I am so excited!

Summer is in Full Swing

Summer has taken over here at Chez Five Flowers. We are beaching it, hitting the pool, bike riding, jam making, and owl watching. Summer is sweet and warm, but busy: I always think we are going to have all this time to do nothing, but the days fill quickly.

But I am busy planning, planning, planning. School starts for us in a month, so soon I will have time to get all the things done I am thinking about: the art projects, the writing projects, the yoga classes. How is your summer going?
