When the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) this week began taking military action in the Gaza strip (as the IDF announced on Twitter), Anonymous declared its own war as part of #OpIsrael. Among the casualties are thousands of email addresses and passwords, hundreds of Israeli web sites, government-owned as well as privately owned pages, as well as databases belonging to the Bank of Jerusalem and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

While the hacktivist group doesn’t appear to be anywhere near satisfied yet, the YourAnonNews account, which has over 686,000 followers, did just send out this message:

If that’s not a declaration of success, I don’t know what is. There have so far been hundreds of takedowns of sites by Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks; one Pastebin trying to list them all includes 659 web sites.
Another AnonPaste includes 2,004 email addresses, the majority of which appear to have corresponding passwords, allegedly stolen from an MySQL database belonging to dirotmodiin.co.il, a site for finding real estate in Israel. Many of them are hosted on Israeli domains, but there are also the usual Gmail, Hotmail, and Yahoo accounts.
Yet as already mentioned, we’re talking about more than just DDoS attacks that are overloading web sites, such as tel-aviv.gov.il, the official site for the second most populous city in Israel (after Jerusalem). There are also plenty of defacements, and, as of a few minutes ago, databases have also been wiped.
While the Israeli government almost certainly has backups of their databases, these attacks as well as the defacements show Anonymous isn’t just doing its usual spree of overloading target sites. OpIsrael appears to have gotten multiple hackers involved who are interested in doing actual damage, or at least something that is slightly more permanent than just a 404.

Twitter enables sharing tweets by email from the site

Twitter has today added the ability to share tweets by email directly from the Twitter.com website. Clicking on the ‘More’ icon next to the normal Twitter controls will give you access to a pop-up email form.

“You can email a Tweet to anyone, whether they use Twitter or not, right from your Twitter stream or from the details view of any Tweet,” says Twitter’s Sefan Filip. And that ‘not on Twitter’ bit is the important thing to note. Twitter wants people that aren’t on Twitter to see why they’d want to use the service.

You’ll be able to drop in a brief comment along with the tweet and send it right out via email from the site. The email is signed with your Twitter account but doesn’t require that you log into an email account for sharing.

Here’s what the email sharing looks like:

The feature is rolling out to users over the next few weeks. If the email sharing feature takes off, people who are not on Twitter will soon see their inboxes filling up with a tweet here, a tweet there from twitter users. Think of it as Twitter’s version of an advertising mailer that comes from you, rather than a random promo campaign.

And this kind of organic pressure kind of works. I know that many friends of mine joined Instagram almost purely because they saw the shots I was sharing on Twitter. If I chose to email tweets from Twitter.com (I probably won’t) to users that do not have Twitter, how many would it take before they became interested in this thing that I was looking at? Seems pretty smart.

Facebook ‘Pages Feed’ section, shows you only content from pages

Facebook is today rolling out a new product called Pages feed that will allow you to see only content from the pages you follow in your main feed. This section was discovered earlier in the month in testing, but Facebook has confirmed to The Next Web today that it is rolling out to all users.
The Pages feed section appears in the left sidebar of your Facebook page, and can be accessed via this link directly as well.

Note that this does not affect the way that the News Feed works at all, instead, this allows you to see a continuous separate feed with just pages content. This serves a desire among some Facebook users to see more from the pages that they follow in their feed.

It also comes at an interesting time, As Facebook has come under criticism from some using its pages ad products. Some users, like Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, have complained that their promoted Pages content was not getting enough exposure in the main feed. Perhaps exposing pages content more directly to users will increase engagement with the content without having to tweak the main feed.
Facebook says that the new section is rolling out to users now, so you should have it soon if not already.

9 alternatives for the big Bitly

Bitly had pretty much positioned itself as the leading URL shortener in a sea of way too many options, by offering its users a set of robust features – analytics, Bitly bundles, and more. With its latest major revamp, however, it has its many fans disappointed

One major complaint is that Bitly has thrown simplicity out of the window. A two-click option to shorten and share URLs on Twitter has been replaced with a confusing, meandering workflow that takes longer, is more annoying, and adds unnecessary features.

If you’re one of the people who’s incredibly frustrated with the new setup, we’ve put together a list of alternatives, so in no particular order, here they are.

Analytics

One of Bitly’s standout features is definitely its analytics. Google’s URL shortener, Goo.gl offers all the same features. To actually shorten an URL with the web-based version of Goo.gl, there are really no bells and whistles. Paste the link and hit the ‘shorten link’ button.

Goo.gl’s analytics include how many hits your link received, where those hits came from, what platforms and browsers visitors are using, and their location. You can view a breakdown of statistics by the past two hours, the past day, week, month or all time traffic. While you don’t get Bitly’s cute little pie charts or how many clicks the link has received from other shortened URLs, Goo.gl does chart your own traffic on a line graph, and provides a QR code for the URL to boot.

There is no easy way to share your shortened link on any social networks – not even Google+, so if you want easy sharing to social networks, you’re going to have to look elsewhere, or opt for a third party extension.

For a more streamlined experience, it would be worth using an extension like goo.gl lite for Firefox or goo.gl URL shortener for Chrome, the latter of which has the added advantage of sharing to a wide variety of social networks.

Scheduling

Su.pr is an URL shortener that comes to us courtesy of StumbleUpon. To use the service, you have to log in to your StumbleUpon account, as well as grant it access to your Twitter account.
The really cool thing about Su.pr is that not only does it give you one-click shortening and sharing to Facebook and Twitter, you can also schedule your links to be shared later.

This is a great option for spacing out your interesting links, if you don’t want to bombard your followers with a bunch of links in one go. If you’re a regular StumbleUpon user you can also add the link to your account.

In addition to these features, Su.pr also provides its own set of analytics – you can view the number of retweets and hits you’ve received, as well as the top traffic sources. Like Bitly, Su.pr also lets you know how much total traffic that link has received, making it easy to see how much you’ve contributed to the overall traffic to that link.

Easy social sharing

One of the features I personally found the most useful when it came to Bitly was the ability to click a button and have a window automatically populated with the title and link, and I can instantly share it to Twitter. The new chrome extension now makes you enter a title, doesn’t show you how many characters you have left in a tweet, and just unnecessarily complicates things.

If you’re looking for an easy alternative, look no further than Shareaholic – with its cross platform extension – compatible with Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari and Opera, the sharing extension allows you to not only easily share links from the comfort of your browser.

You can also shorten it with the URL shortener of your choice. These include Goo.gl, is.gd and Su.pr, among others. With Shareaholic, you can also share your links directly to a variety of social networks, including Twitter, Facebook, Evernote, via email and much more.

Don’t need in-depth analytics, fancy sharing options or anything beyond and easy one-click URL shortening option, which doesn’t force you to enter an annoying CAPTCHA? It doesn’t get much simpler than Is.gd. Paste the URL, shorten it, and your done.

Is.gd also keeps a log of your shortened URLs without having to register for an account. If you really want a few extra options, you can choose to use a custom URL, and log statistics for the shortened link as well.

Password protected

Here’s an option that Bitly never offered its users, but its pretty cool. Want to password protect your URLs? Try Snipurl. For whatever reason you might need your links password protected (sharing online content with clients etc.), with Snipur;, you can shorten your URL, and add a password of your own choice.

Snipurl can be used without registering, but if you want to keep track of your shortened links, you can sign up for a free account.

If you’re all about QR codes, and aren’t a fan of using Google for everything you do, you can opt for Tiny.cc. You can shorten and manage URLs without registering for an account, but you do always run the risk of losing your links.
In addition to offering users a one-click shortening option, Tiny.cc also offers traffic statistics, custom URLs and easy sharing to a variety of social networks including Facebook, Twitter and Google+, and of course, allows you to generate a QR code for each link.

The shortest URL possible

If it’s all about space for you, and getting the shortest URL possible, TinyArrows is the best way to go. Rather than waste your precious Twitter count to extra domain letters, TinyArrow’s allows you to choose from a variety of symbols including arrows, hearts, flowers and stars, among a few other symbols that will appeal to more than just 13 year old girls

Bundles

Bundles are not one of Bitly’s newest features, and they can actually come in pretty handy. If you’re looking for a way to share a bunch of shortened links with just one short link, there are a few options, the easiest of which to use is Fur.ly.
At first glance it looks as though there’s space for just one URL, but once you’ve entered your first link, and space will appear to enter the next and so forth.

You can also choose a custom URL name if you want, and sign up for an account to manage your links, but the site can be used without registering.
When users click on the link, they’ll be taken to the first site, with a menu at the top of the page making it easy to view all of the sites in a drop-down menu, as well as basic viewer statistics.

Facebook's Most-Liked Photo of All Time

The picture above, posted to Barack Obama's Facebook profile around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, is now Facebook's most-liked photo of all time, with more than 3.2 million "likes" and counting. The page Facebook + Journalists confirmed the landmark early Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, the same photo, posted to Obama's Twitter feed, is also the most-retweeted ever, according to NBC News, which notes that it stole the crown from Justin Bieber. Twitter spokeswoman Rachael Horwitz could not confirm the distinction this morning, though she did confirm that it's at least Obama's most-retweeted photo ever. At last count it had been retweeted some 660,000 times.

Just four years ago, it would have been almost unfathomable that a private photo shared by the campaign directly with its supporters—as opposed to a candid shot snapped by a press photographer—could become the most iconic of a presidential election. But such is the power of social media.

Sebiji bola mata gergasi berwarna biru yang ditemui di pantai Florida Selatan
telah mencetuskan tanda tanya banyak pihak selepas gambarnya dimuat naik ke internet.

Pembantu profesor untuk program sains marin di Universiti Antarabangsa Florida, Heather Bracken-Grissom berkata,
