Sewcialites 3: Block 16 – Florabelle Block

We’re back with another week of Sewcialites fun, and this week’s block is Block 16 – Florabelle by Heather Briggs of My Sew Quilty Life!

This sweet block has such a fun, fresh feel with all those pretty points and pinwheel movement. I’m still sewing along with my Correspondence fabrics and for this block I went with a soft blue and pink combination of prints that feels perfectly vintage and cheerful.

We’re officially just over halfway through the Sewcialites 3 sew along, which feels a little wild! These blocks have been so much fun to sew and I’m loving seeing how all the different designs work together while still letting each fabric combination shine.

I’m still using Correspondence throughout the quilt and loving how the prints mix together from block to block. This one has such a sweet floral feel — definitely a favorite so far! Click here for the free block patterns.

Sewcialites 3 – Block 15: Split Star Block

It’s time for Sewcialites 3 Block 15 and this week’s block is the Split Star Block by Lissa Alexander! I’m still sewing along with my Correspondence fabric collection and I’m loving how these sweet prints keep coming together in each block.

For this block, I paired the Correspondence prints with my favorite Dainty Daisy Vintage Pastels on Cloud for the background. I love how the soft background lets all those pretty florals, lace prints and sweet details shine! The Split Star design has such a fun mix of angles and movement—it feels classic but still fresh, which makes it such a fun addition to the quilt.

We’re getting farther along in the sew along now, and it’s so fun seeing all the blocks start to tell a story together. I can already imagine how sweet this quilt is going to look all finished up!

RBD Block Challenge Finish

I can’t believe we’ve made it to the finish of the Riley Blake Designs Block Challenge! It has been so much fun sewing along each week and seeing all the beautiful block designs come together into one quilt. I’m so excited to finally share my finished quilt!

I followed the finishing pattern just as written, and I absolutely love how everything came together. The mix of blocks paired with the bold sashing gives the quilt such a fun, classic feel, and it was so rewarding seeing all those weekly blocks become one finished project.

For my quilt, I used Riley Blake Designs basics throughout and had so much fun putting together this sweet vintage-inspired palette. I used Dainty Daisy Vintage Pastels on Cloud for the background, which gives the quilt such a soft and pretty feel. The backing is Dainty Daisy Songbird, and I finished it off with Dapple Dot Marsala binding for a rich pop of color around the edge.

I also had this quilted on my longarm using the Frolic quilting design from Sew Shabby Quilting, and I love the extra texture it adds to the finished quilt!

A huge thank you to Riley Blake Designs for putting together such a fun sew along every year. I’ve loved sewing along, and I can’t wait to see everyone’s finished quilts, too!
