Penguins on my dress

A dress with penguins all over it? Why not! I have been loving animal printed
things lately, and in addition to this dress, I have a horse-printed one, cat, and
elephant one. They are whimsical, oh so fun, and if you want to elevate the maturity
level, just add a blazer and heels and you are good to go. Next mission is something
with rabbits all over it!

So the packing game continues, however I am almost done! Going to enjoy my last twodays in Texas to the fullest.
Getting Mexican food will be a must. Hope you all have a wonderful day! ♥

Still getting used to, but loving my new hair! The new layers have made it
much more wavy, and easier to manage. Hooray for a good change! Anyways,
I have been preparing for the other change in my life (a much more significant
one of course), and have finally began tackling the ugly task of packing.
Slowly sorting through my clothing, and narrowing down the favorites that
will be joining me on this adventure. A chore indeed, but it's coming along
okay.

Anyways, coinciding with my move I'd like to do a little sale in my shop!

Bang, Bang

New hair! it's been quite some time that I've done anything significantly different to
my hair (I'm talking years), so this is very refreshing for me! So maybe I only cut off
2 inches of the length... but I got a lot of new layers and the bangs are a big step
for me! Since I've grown my hair out, I've been scared to change it in any sort of way,
so baby steps are always good. The stylist straightened it, and I really hate my hair
straight, so I put it up in a ballerina-esque bun.I have a feeling I'll be rocking this hairstyle much more often!

Anyways, enough about my hair! It's Friday and I am ready for a good one. Hope yours is great as well! ♥

Slouchy Wednesdays

Gloomy days = cozy days in my book. Especially days like today that are not only
rainy, but stormy. Growing up in Texas, I've always loved a good storm. Booming
thunder and lightening shows are the best. And nothing puts me to sleep better
than the sound of a blustering storm and the rain tapping at my window. Anyways,
as glum as it may look outside, I definitely don't think it should be a reflection of
my clothing choices. So I threw on this canary yellow vintage top with a deep
burgundy cardigan to complete my comfy look!

Anyways, I am getting beyond excited for my move to NYC. I've missed my east coast
friends like crazy, and of course the city life so much! I cannot wait to wander around
the streets and take in the magic of the 'hustle and bustle'. Oh and I'm so stoked to livewith my
new roommate Christina! A week and a half until the big move date.

Weekend Casual

Over-size sweaters, cozy scarves, and oxfords are typically incorporated in my weekend
looks. These vegan Dr. Marten oxfords have been a staple in my wardrobe these days.
I am completely obsessed and love the way they toughen up any look. A bit more
interesting than the typical flat, but just as comfortable. In other news, I am absolutely
going insane trying to pack for NYC! Knowing me I won't really begin until a few days
before I go (I'm crazy like that). When I moved to London for my semester abroad I
literally did not start packing until two days before my flight. As insane as it is, I am
trying to limit myself to one suitcase. I know it's crazy, but hey it's an excuse to build
a whole new wardrobe.

Another Monday, another week full of things to do! I had a wonderfully
restful weekend spent with my brother who went off to Thailand yesterday,
as well as some of my Texas friends that I haven't seen in a while. Lazy days
and late nights are my favorite kind of weekends! Anyways, I wore this outfit a
few days ago to go to my brother's goodbye dinner with the fam. This skirt was a
summer favorite, often worn with platform sandals and tanks. It was fun
transforming it into a winter piece by pairing it with a chunky sweater and booties.
I love re-mixing my favorites in my closet!

Rainy Daze

Yet another rainy day outfit post here! Finally the sun has come out to play today, but the
past few have been cold and gloomy. Not that I am complaining... I love a good rainy day.
It just makes it all the more difficult in taking photos, but I managed to sneak in a few after
eating lunch at my favorite taco place... Torchy's Tacos! Seriously delicious and something I
recommend to anyone who is visiting Dallas. Anyways... some of you might have already seen
this on my Twitter, but I have some BIG news! Come February 1st, I will be moving to New
York City! My dream is finally coming true and I could not be more excited. The only thing on
my mind right now is packing, packing, packing, and NYC, NYC, NYC! I cannot wait to share
my new adventures with you all on this blog, and of course plan to continue blogging
every step of the way. It's going to be an adventure.

Around Town

Oh boy was yesterday a wonderful day out and about in none other than Springfield, Missouri. I always have a good time in this town, A.) because it's cool, and B.) I always come here to visit my boyfriend's awesome family. Yesterday we spent the day out and about with Ryan's mom and his sister, going to places that are unique to the town. We went to this amazing/adorable crepe place first, called the Aviary Cafe where we had delicious Pomme Frites (as pictured above) and for lunch I had an egg-basil-cheese-caramelized onions crepe. Seriously so good! As if this wasn't enough food I just had to stop by the cupcake shop next door and get myself a red velvet cupcake. The addiction following my cake pop one.

Anyways after visiting a few neat antique shops and such we stopped by the grand finale, Red Velvet vintage shop (everything pictured from the terrariums and below)! So I am sure many of you are familiar with Elsie from A Beautiful Mess... this is her adorable shop! The shopping experience is truly enchanting there, covered in amazing displays and of course beautiful vintage clothing. And the twist is that there is a sweets shop at red velvet with candy and cupcakes galore. After meeting Elsie (a complete sweetheart) she sent me home with an adorable over-sized dotted clutch. What a lovely gift from an even lovelier girl!

Channeling my inner 'southern girl' with this look, and I have to say it felt pretty good. Just threw it together for a day of adventuring in the morning, and despite the "you look like Jack White" comment I received from Ryan, I continued out the door with pride! Anyways, these are my favorite kind of days. Nothing specific to do, no agenda, just wandering about and having fun. We got to see the sunset at Mt. Sequoyah which overlooks the whole town, one of my absolute favorite things to do. And then the evening was spent playing cards and listening to good tunes with friends. Can't beat a chill day like this!

Goodbye 2011!

For the final post of 2011 on this blog I thought it was fitting to pick a favorite outfit from each month of the year. It really has been one roller coaster ride of a year and over-all not a dull moment was had! Like any year there were of course ups and downs, but I wouldn't take back a single moment. I graduated from college, had my dream internship as a stylist at Urban Outfitters, lived on the east coast, made beautiful new friends in the city, grew even more attached to this blog, started up my vintage shop online, found great buys and lived in three different states! Throughout all my experiences I have learned so much and am ready to translate this into the new year to come. I think that 2012 is going to be a good one, and I am so ready for it's arrival!

I also wanted to thank you all so much for continuing to read this blog and all of your amazing support! 2011 was a big year for this blog and it couldn't have happened without you all. So a thanks to each and every one of you that has followed this blog this year. Can't wait for another year.

Oh boy, I can't believe this is my last outfit post of 2011. Not even wearing a sweater...
that's December in Texas for you. Freezing one day and warm the next! Anyways, I
spent this lovely day with my lovely friend Laura, just hanging out and catching up.
Got our coffee on and went for a little walk. I swear anything I do with this girl is always
a good time, she's the best! Anyways, about the outfit... I am totally obsessed with this
necklace right now! I have been really into wearing short necklaces peaking out under
a collars, especially peter pan collars! As much as I try to not over populate my wardrobe
with them, it is just impossible. So I might as well give in and be the girl with all
the fancy collars.

Just Give Me A Comfy Sweater

After all of the holiday madness, all I wanted to do the day after Christmas was put
on a cozy comfy sweater. I love the crazy texture of this one and of course the
blush pink color. It's difficult to tell in these photos but I paired it with this black
velvet top... I am really obsessed with anything velvet right now. Anyways
I wore this simple look for a relaxing lunch with some good friends and followed
by a quick trip to the mall where we shortly realized that the day after Christmas
is just as, if not more, insane as the weeks leading up the holiday. Seriously I
really really hate shopping in crowds!

It's Almost Christmas

I have been searching for the perfect leather shorts for what has seemed like ages now!
These ones by Mink Pink totally fit the bill and have been a major staple in my wardrobe
lately. I love that they are tailored and not to shiny looking. And of course anything
high-waisted is a plus for me. I love pairing them with super femme pieces to add a
bit of edge. Especially with a frilly top like this! Anyways it is two days until Christmas
and I am still not finished with my shopping! It honestly hasn't hit me yet that it
is so soon. Gotta listen to more Christmas music while I can.

Leopard Love

Hello! I am back from my mini-blog hiatus. It seriously wasn't even that long but to me
it felt like forever. Anyways, my quick Philly trip was absolutely amazing and jam-packed
which is just the way I like it. I swear I am the most antsy person sometimes so getting
out of Texas even for a short bit was great. So on to the outfit- introducing one of my
favorite winter coats! I am in love with the camel color and of course the collar had me
sold. The fur leopard reminds me of old Hollywood in someway and I feel quite
fancy when I put it on, even when it is just with a simple outfit. I paired it here with
these burgundy tights for a little pop of color.
