La Rioja - Laguna Brava

A mas de 4000 mts de altura se encuentra la Reserva Laguna Brava en la provincia de La Rioja.

Creada en 1980 para preservación de vicuñas y guanacos entre otros animales, que se pueden ver a lo largo de la ruta durante todo el viaje. La misma esta a 50 kms de la capital de La Rioja.

Nuestro viaje comenzó desde Villa Unión, pasando por Vinchina, y Alto Jaguel por la única calle del pueblo vertical que por suerte ese dia, no pasaba el agua de lluvia por su cauce.

El recorrido es transitable con auto, pero nosotros contratamos una excursión, altamente recomendable con la gente de www.runacay.com Alejandro o Chloe, amablemente los ayudaran en lo que necesiten.

Durante todo el recorrido de ascenso por la Quebrada de Santo Domingo y descenso el color del cielo y las montañas cambian constantemente y es cada vez mas intenso, no teniendo nada que envidiar a otras partes del país, turísticamente conocidas.

Antiguo Refugio: en la Quebrada del Peón, se ve con forma de un iglú terminada en cúpula con una pequeña abertura en la parte superior. Se trata de uno de los trece refugios de la zona construidos entre 1864 y 1873 para albergar a los arrieros que conducían ganado a Chile durante la guerra de ese país contra Perú y Bolivia, por los desiertos de Atacama y Tarapacá.

En plena quebrada, se comenzó a sentir el descenso de temperatura, mucho frio, bajo cero, recomiendo llevar una buena campera.

Al final de la Quebrada llegamos a Laguna Brava, y mientras tanto pensaba que las historias que me contaron sobra la laguna no se den en ese momento. Dice que los antiguos arrieros y cazadores creían que la Laguna Brava rechazaba a los extraños reaccionando con vendavales, truenos y tempestades. No paso, por suerte.

Cuando uno se dedica a observar la Laguna puede ver atrás de la misma como marco de un perfecto cuadro, los picos de El Veladero, Bonete Chico y Pissis, el segundo más alto de América, con seis mil ochocientos ochenta y dos metros sobre el nivel del mar.

En ese momento fascinante, indescriptible, uno se encuentra con su propia soledad y en el mejor de los contextos. Nada mas puedo decir y las fotos tampoco trasmiten la realidad. Recomiendo ir, sin dudas no se arrepentirán.

The Reserva Provincial (Provincial Reserve) was created in 1980 to protect its permanent fauna: vicuñas, guanacos, american pumas, foxes, chinchillas, and birds like flamingoes, ducks, eagles and hawks. The place is surrounded by summits of Andean giants like the Veladero (6,436 m) and Bonete (6,872 m.) volcanoes.

San Juan - Jachal

San José de Jáchal es una ciudad argentina, ubicada en el centro norte de la provincia de San Juan, en el centro oeste del oasis agrícola del Valle de Jáchal, en la margen derecha del Río Jáchal, al norte de la ciudad de San Juan.

Es la ciudad cabecera, sitio de asiento de autoridades gubernamentales y centro administrativo e institucional del departamento Jáchal. Es también una de las principales ciudades de la provincia de San Juan, ocupando el 5º puesto (teniendo en cuenta la carga poblacional) entre las ciudades de mayor importancia.

Es núcleo de una importante región agrícola y minera por excelencia del norte sanjuanino.

Su principal vía de comunicación es la RN 150, cuya ruta la convertiría en una localidad componente del futuro corredor biocéanico, tras la construcción de un túnel en el Paso de Agua Negra, conectándola con el centro del país y los puertos de Coquimbo en Chile y Porto Alegre en Brasil.

Caracteriza por poseer un estilo colonial en sus edificaciones y en el aspecto urbano. Fue fundada el 25 de junio de 1571 por el maestro de campo Juan de Echegaray.

La Subsecretaría de Cultura y Turismo de la provincia de San Juan decidió convertir a San José de Jáchal en la capital sanjuanina de la Cultura y la tradición ya que durante el mes de noviembre se celebra ahí la Fiesta Provincial de la Tradición, donde se realizan espectáculos con interpretes locales y nacionales, muestra de artesanías, venta de comidas típicas etcétera

Templo de San José

Fue declarado Monumento Histórico Nacional por la tradición que representa en la acción evangelizadora en Cuyo. El templo fue habilitado en 1785 y su sala parroquial fue escenario de importantes acontecimientos históricos.

El edificio actual fue inaugurado el 8 de septiembre de 1878. Sus muros son de adobe y su fachada está compuesta por tres arcos que soportan una cabecera triangular. En 1959, el templo fue embellecido con una torre de hormigón armado. Otros atractivos son el museo de la Iglesia, Museo Prieto donde se resguarda piesas arqueológicas donde se conservan una excepcional colección de piezas pertenecientes a las distintas culturas que habitaron nuestro suelo

San José de Jáchal (often shortened to Jáchal) is a city in the northeast of the province of San Juan, Argentina located on National Route 40, south of the Jachal River. It has 21,018 inhabitants as per the 2001 census (INDEC), and is the head town of the Jachal Department.

Tramway

As public transport, the tram ran in Buenos Aires between 1870 and 1963. Operations as a tourist attraction restarted in 1980.

The service leaves the corner of Emilio Mitre and José Bonifacio streets on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The vehicles used were built in 1912, 1927 and 1961.

When arriving at the Ibera lagoon we can hear from the scrub the howling of theC arayá monkey. It’s one of the emblematic species and its presence is a good sign of the preservation of the small islands in the scrub.When picturing Iberá, people immediately imagine marshes, areas of marshland and lagoons. Nevertheless, pasturelands are also prominent in this protected region, theh abitat of such endangered species as the Pampas deer or the yellow-headed blackbird.The biological value is amazing since more than 1.400 types of plant and 600 vertebrate have been found in the area. Among them, there are 125 fish, 40 amphibians, 60 reptiles, 350 birds, and 60 varieties of mammal.
The Ibera champions:

- Capybara: the biggest rodent in the world (1,30 m and 75 kg)
- The Caraya: considered the noisiest animal in the planet. Its strong voice can be heards everal kilometres away.
- The Mars deer: the largest South American deer (more than 2m long and weighing 150 kg)
- The Maned wolf: The largest South American canine (1,70 m long)
- The Curiyú boa: The largest boa-constrictor in Argentina, the longest known is 7m. Generally this specimen does not exceed 3m long.
- The Cururú toad: The biggest amphibian in Argentina.Marshes consist of reed beds and aquatic grasses. The aquatic grass is formed by water plants, such as Camalotes, when it rains the Camalotes are swept along forming true “islands”. Several animals use this environment to live and commute.Iberá is magical beyond your expectations; you will be surprised by the wild life, the starry nights, the eerie silence, and its people.

Other activites include:
Boat trips around the lagoon, a visit to the Park’s “Interpretation Centre", walks through the native jungle, Photography Safaris, Fishing, Bird Watching, A visit to “Cambá Trapo”, Canoeing and Horse riding.Boat RidesTwo different tours of the marshland begin at the wharf lodge.

The guide was born and raised in the region and has worked within the nature reserve. He has an in-depth knowledge of the region and its animals, whiche nsures sightings of the wildlife. The tours will provide a very colorfull andscape, full of flora and fauna of Ibera’s ecosystem and plentiful opportunities for seeing Capybaras or “Carpinchos”, alligators, river otters, marsh deer, and 350 different species of bird. The tours are approximately 2 hours each.

Canoes
The canoe is an excellent way to glide stealthy and smoothly through the Iberal agoon while taking photos of the wonderful landscape. The steady pace wille nable you to spot herons, jacanas, capybaras, and ducks to name but a few of the birds and animals in the surrounding environment.

Horse back rides
Several horseback rides are available:-Palmares Caranday: Approximately a 2 hour’s ride through neigh paring areas of the lagoon, crossing palm forests and marshy areas.-Pellegrini: Approximately a one-hour ride through the tour of Carlos Pellegrini, you will ride past many areas of cultural interest.-Camba: This is a whole day ride from Pellegrini to Camba. Along the way you will cross the Palmares (palm forest) and arrive at the House of Jose where you will enjoy a typical “Correntino” stem for lunch. After lunch you will rest and then return to Pellegrini.Ibera Nature Reserve
Ibera is different, unique and magical. You will be pleasantly surprised at thea bundant wildlife, the incredible starry nights, the sound of silence, and the friendly locals.
Bird watching

How to get here from Buenos Aires…
By plane: Flight from Aeroparque (AEP) to Posadas, Misiones. From there a special transfer to Colonia Carlos Pellegrini.
By Bus: From Buenos Aires Bus Terminal, to the City of Mercedes, Corrientes. From there a special transfer to Colonia Carlos Pellegrini.
By Car: It’s about 800 km from Buenos Aires. Up Route 14 through the Province of Entre Rios, up to the City of Mercedes. Fill up the petrol tank and then proceed to Colonia Carlos Pellegrini.
From Iguazú or Posadas: You can hire a special transfer to Colonia Carlos Pellegrini, or take a bus to Mercedes and then, take another transfer to the Colonia C.P.
