All Saints go marching to Santa Monica Place

This weekend, Drew and I took a stroll to the new Santa Monica Place & in the words of Rachel Zoe, this mall is shutting it down! Just imagine the biggest pizza cutter on earth taking a slice through all levels of Scottsdale Fashion Square, exposing three stories of apparel, accessories, home furnishings and restaurants. If that doesn’t work for you, imagine a tri-level cul-de-sac of shopping bliss.

We actually jogged to the mall to avoid weekend traffic and parking situations. Without a practical way to bring things home, we spent our time window-shopping and taking in some rooftop sunshine.

After seeing the incredible window display of stacked sewing machines at All Saints, I made a note to take a closer look at their online store at home. Turns out… All Saints is having a HUGE online sale, up to 70% off. Check it out here! I absolutely love the super-soft textiles and interesting draping patterns of their dresses, jersey and knitwear.

Santa Monica is THE spot for yoga connoisseurs, like my roommates. Silencing my thoughts for 90 minutes, for me, is a workout within a workout. Sweeping through Santa Monica neighborhoods on evening runs when the air is crisp is my absolute favorite thing to do. As my schedule is chopped up, tossed in the air and pieced back together… catching the sun-setting, summer breezy, perfect window of time is somewhat of a challenge. So I’m searching for ways to mix up my fitness routine.

Everyone seems to unwind in their own way so I asked the yoga obsessed for their recommendations on the best donation studios in Santa Monica.

Here’s what the roommates came up with:

Power Yoga. Perks of Power include 2 studios located in Santa Monica, classes offered almost every hour, wide variety of teachers and beginner classes offered to newbies like me!
Yogaco. Yogaco offers a variety of class styles such as Power Yoga, Power Flow, Vinyasa Flow, etc. Learn more here. In addition, late night classes are offered MW from 10:30 – 11:45 and the studio employees a variety of teachers just like Power Yoga.
Yogis Annonymous. Yelper’s love this place, take a look here!
YogaGlo offers a fresh and inexpensive alternative, pay $18/month and stream yoga classes globally from their Studio in Santa Monica. Website members can take free classes at the Santa Monica studio

Cool as a Cucumber

I’m addicted to fresh fruits and vegetables. Variety and imagination help me to keep a vegetarian diet. As the weather gets warmer, cool off with this refreshing summer salad.

1 cucumber – peeled & sliced into thin round sections
2 medium roma tomatoes – cut into strips
1 small red onion – sliced thinly
1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
1 tablespoon sugar
dash of dill
dash of sat & pepper

Mix sugar, vinegar, dill, salt n pepper in a serving bowl
Add cucumbers, tomato & onion to bowl, stir & mix to coat
Chill for a lil bit & enjoy!

Turquoise, corals, pink champagne! I’m getting a head-start on embracing these gorgeous color trends for summer 2010. Now, I’ve always been a girly girl at heart. Sweet summer dresses, to-die-for heels and glamorous jewels have graced my wardrobe since the days of fortune telling @ recess with an old-fashioned game of MASH. There’s one thing that’s held me back from teleporting directly into Barbie’s Dreamhouse – the color pink. Not my favorite. This summer, trade in head-to-toe pink Juicy Suits for subtle touches of rose, champagne & tomato.

Simple, gorgeous, flawless details make an unforgettable look.

Here’s to great friends! Yesterday, I was able to take lunch with my dear friend Sam. We stopped at Bergamot Café to enjoy some yummy food, mint lemonade, warm sun & great conversation. Since our internship last fall, Sam and I have been close… some might say like sis’s. Today, she’s on the open road from LA to TX for a new opportunity in a business which she is most passionate about – Fair Trade. You can check out Sam’s blog here for more information on Fair Trade. Last night, some of my favorite ladies in LA and I gathered around the kitchen table to munch on some snacks, share in some drinks & laugh for hours. I am so thankful for the wonderful people that I’ve met since moving to LA and truly cherish moments spent together.
