Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham was attacked Wednesday in Santa Monica when a woman tossed an unknown substance toward him as he entered a building.
The suspect has a stalking history with Buckingham, and was subject to a December 2024 restraining order.
Buckingham was not harmed in the incident; police say an arrest is expected soon.

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Lindsey Buckingham was attacked by a woman in Santa Monica on Wednesday morning.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that a woman with a history of stalking Buckingham, 76, tossed an unknown substance toward the former Fleetwood Mac guitarist and vocalist from a container as he entered a building for an appointment. According to law enforcement, Buckingham was not harmed; the woman is known to the musician and has been the subject of prior action with the LAPD threat management unit.

Police believe the woman found out when and where Buckingham had scheduled his appointment. She was not apprehended Wednesday morning, but an arrest was expected soon.

“The Los Angeles Police Department, Threat Management Unit, is working with the Santa Monica Police Department to investigate the incident,” LAPD Capt. Mike Bland told The Times in a statement. “To protect the integrity of the open and ongoing investigation, no further comment will be provided, at this time.”

Representatives for Buckingham have not responded to a request for comment.

In December 2024, Buckingham filed a request for a restraining order against Michelle Dick, who was 53 at the time of that filing. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Elizabeth Scully granted the order, which mandates that Dick stay at least 100 yards away from Buckingham, his wife and his son. She was also ordered not to harass or attempt to make contact with him in any way.

In November 2024, Buckingham petitioned the court for the order, writing that Dick had been stalking him for several years and that her harassment included threats of violence. According to the musician’s declaration, Dick had loitered around his and his family members’ homes, called repeatedly and left threatening voicemails, and taped a photo collage of herself and Buckingham to his mailbox. The final straw, he said, was when she placed a false emergency call against Buckingham, claiming that she’d heard gunshots inside his home. Police arrived and handcuffed him while they cleared his home.

A detective in the threat management unit also gave a declaration in favor of a protection order, writing that she had been assigned to investigate the harassment of Buckingham and that Dick insisted she was the child of the musician. She wrote that she believed Dick to be dangerous and mentally unstable.

Buckingham has had a rough go in the last several years, but last week he shared on Instagram that Fleetwood Mac had a documentary in the works and that he had a positive outlook for 2026. “I am still very, very grounded in my creative life,” he said. “I’ve been working on a new solo album for the last couple of years, which is one song away from being finished.”

In 2018, Buckingham split with Fleetwood Mac and a legal battle over lost wages with his former band ensued. Then, in February 2019, Buckingham suffered a heart attack and had to undergo triple bypass surgery. During the process, the insertion of a breathing tube damaged his vocal cords, leaving him questioning whether he would ever be able to sing again, he told The Times in 2021.

He spent much of the pandemic focusing on his recovery.

“I’ll tell you what: Between the Fleetwood Mac stuff and the heart attack, it’s all been humbling,” Buckingham said. “I’ve never suffered from a lack of confidence, and sometimes could get carried away with that in the process of leading the band. But everything has pulled me in a little bit. I’m not as aggressive a person as I was before, which is probably not a bad thing. It made me look around more — and become less self-involved, hopefully.”

The guitarist detailed his plans for 2026, including a new solo album and the upcoming Fleetwood Mac doc

Lindsey Buckingham detailed his plans for 2026 — and that may include some type of reunion for him and Stevie Nicks.

In a new video posted to his Instagram account (where he recently, quite hilariously, tried to break down Gen Z slang with his children), the singer-guitarist said that despite the state of our country, he has a lot of projects in the works. “I am still very, very grounded in my creative life,” he said. “I’ve been working on a new solo album for the last couple of years, which is one song away from being finished.”

Buckingham also added that in addition to his solo album, the upcoming Fleetwood Mac documentary may arrive this year. There’s no official release date, but Frank Marshall is helming the project for Apple, and it features interviews with the four core surviving members of the band: Buckingham, Nicks, Mick Fleetwood, and John McVie. “Those are two very specific things that are waiting in the wings for this year,” he said.

Most notable was Buckingham’s acknowledgement of his relationship with Nicks. Last year, the duo reissued their pre-Mac album Buckingham Nicks for the first time in decades, and have apparently reconciled. “I think on a more general level, just the energy in terms of what Buckingham Nicks did to sort of create a resurgence of connection between Stevie and myself, I think on a larger scale, that seems to be something that’s in the air,” he said. “And what that translates to specifically, I wouldn’t want to speculate yet. But I believe with all my heart, it will translate to something good, and something wonderful, and something needed and something extremely appropriate.”

Though it was apparent last fall that Buckingham and Nicks were back on speaking terms — when they went deep on the Buckingham Nicks track “Frozen Love” for Song Exploder — this is the first time Buckingham has addressed any type of 2026 reunion in any capacity. It’s unclear what “larger scale” means, and whether it would be a Buckingham Nicks project of some sort or a Fleetwood Mac reunion tour. Nicks told Rolling Stone in 2024 that she’d never consider a Fleetwood Mac tour after the death of bandmate Christine McVie, but that was before her reconciliation with Buckingham. And next year will be a milestone for the band, as Rumours will celebrate its 50th anniversary. Only time will tell. For now, all we can do is listen to “Crystal” and remain hopeful.

Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Landslide’ Debuts on Hot 100 More Than 50 Years After Its Release

Fleetwood Mac’s classic studio version of “Landslide,” released in 1975, reaches the Billboard Hot 100 at last, debuting at No. 41 on the Jan. 17-dated chart.

The song hits the Hot 100 following its placement in the series finale of Netflix’s Stranger Things, released Dec. 31. It generated 7 million official U.S. streams (up 43% week over week), 888,000 radio audience impressions (up 10%) and 1,000 downloads sold (up 15%) Jan. 2-8, according to Luminate.

Fleetwood Mac first released “Landslide” in July 1975 on its self-titled 10th studio album — the group’s first project featuring Stevie Nicks as a vocalist and Lindsey Buckingham as a guitarist. Nicks solely wrote the song and delivers its lead vocals.

Despite becoming one of the band’s most enduring compositions, “Landslide” was never issued as an official single during its original run. Still, it remained a staple of Fleetwood Mac’s live performances, as well as Nicks’ solo tours. A live version was released as a single in 1997, following its inclusion on the band’s album The Dance. That rendition debuted on the Hot 100 in July 1998 and peaked at No. 51 that August, while also reaching No. 10 on Adult Contemporary and No. 26 on Adult Pop Airplay.

Several covers of “Landslide” by other acts have charted over the years. The Chicks’ version climbed to No. 7 on the Hot 100 in March 2003, while the Glee cast’s take, featuring Gwyneth Paltrow, hit No. 23 in 2011. More notable remakes found success across other charts: Smashing Pumpkins’ cover reached No. 3 on Alternative Airplay and No. 30 on Radio Songs in 1994; Kat Perkins’ version hit No. 35 on Hot Rock & Alternative Songs in 2014 after her performance on NBC’s The Voice; and Chloe Kohanski’s interpretation peaked at No. 26 on the same chart also after a performance on The Voice.

With the entrance of “Landslide,” Fleetwood Mac logs its 26th career entry on the Hot 100 and first debut in 23 years, since “Peacekeeper” debuted at No. 93 in March 2003 (before peaking at No. 80 that May).

The group’s most recent Hot 100 appearance came earlier this decade. In 2020, its 1977 No. 1 hit “Dreams” re-entered after a viral TikTok featuring Nathan Apodaca skateboarding while sipping Ocean Spray Cran-Raspberry juice sparked a massive streaming resurgence. The clip’s popularity resulted in recreations from several members of Fleetwood Mac, including Nicks and Mick Fleetwood. The song rebounded to No. 12 in October 2020.

Thanks to “Landslide,” Fleetwood Mac has now debuted on the Hot 100 in five different decades: the ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s, 2000s and ‘20s. The band joins a select list of groups with debuts on the chart in at least five decades, a landmark last attained by The Beatles when “Now and Then” launched in the top 10 in November 2023. Other groups with at least five decades of Hot 100 debuts include The Isley Brothers (six), The Rolling Stones and Santana (five each).

In Canada, the song debuted on the Canadian Hot 100 at No. 33 on the chart dated January 17, 2026.

2025 was a good year for devotees of audiophile vinyl and Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab followers. The label reissued pristine pressings of albums reviewed in Illinois Entertainer, including Rick James’ soul-funk classic, Street Songs, and Miles Davis’ genre-blending jazz standout, Sketches of Spain. Fans of the best ’80s rock and followers of Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks herself will be thrilled by the quality of this reissue of Nicks’ 1981 solo debut, Bella Donna.

The album was meticulously recorded with the best technology of its day and has always sounded good, but it has never sounded this good on vinyl. This prestige-format release benefits from the label’s best mastering and highest-tier pressing process.

MoFi’s Ultradisc One-Step process reduces the generational loss experienced in the traditional three-step plating process by directly making a metal stamper from the lacquer. This results in greater detail retention, increased dynamics, and a lower noise floor. These qualities are evident in the new pressing of Bella Donna. The album is mastered for 45RPM playback, which requires the 10-song program to be split across two vinyl platters but also provides increased sonic fidelity compared to the original analog source tapes. Many who know the album from its eventual CD release in the ’80s will be impressed by this vinyl release’s depth, body, warmth, clarity, dynamic range, and spatial staging.

None of the technical work would matter if not for the performances and songs conveyed. Songs including the conversational duet with the Eagles’ Don Henley, “Leather and Lace,” remain among Nicks’ most beloved songs. The glistening acoustic love song used its titular fabrics as metaphors for the attraction of opposites. “Kind of Woman” is a haunting waltz reflecting on the repercussions of infidelity. E Street Band pianist Roy Bittan’s piano and Dan Dugmore’s weeping pedal steel ring through the countrified “After the Glitter Fades,” a melancholy portrait of a rock star’s hopes and fractured dreams in gilded Hollywood.

“Edge of Seventeen” is tense and restless, driven by a carpal tunnel syndrome-inducing Waddy Wachtel rhythm guitar part that echoes “Bring on the Night” by the Police. The coming-of-age song probes Nicks’ own mindset in the wake of loss and grief. Infused into the song’s imagery are the loss of John Lennon (a close friend of Bella Donna producer Jimmy Iovine) and the loss of Nicks’ beloved uncle Jonathan, who succumbed to cancer during the same week that Lennon was killed.

Brooding rocker “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” is steeped in the sound and songwriting of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The song sprang from the same sessions that produced “The Insider” on the Heartbreakers’ Iovine-produced Hard Promises album. Nicks arguably got the most mileage out of the collaboration. “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” rose to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has remained a mainstay in Nicks’ solo set lists. The Heartbreakers would revisit the song with Nicks on stage as well.

The album features first-call players from the era. Drummer Russ Kunkel propels most songs, often joined in the rhythm section by top bassist Bob Glaub. Duck Dunn from Booker T. & the M.G.’s guests with the Heartbreakers on “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around.” Bill Payne from Little Feat plays piano on the stirring mid-tempo thriller “Think About It.” Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench plays Hammond shimmering organ throughout the album. Harmony vocalists Sharon Celani and Lori Perry are featured on many tracks, including the title cut. The pair continue to work with Nicks today. The players’ performances and Nicks’ own tremulous, inimitable vocals are rich, nuanced, and vivid on this One-Step pressing.

The price for this premium release is not cheap. With an MSRP of $125, this might be the most you spend for a new copy of an in-print domestic LP. For audiophiles who count Bella Donna among their favorite records and want the definitive vinyl experience, though, this reissue can’t be topped.

Fleetwood Mac’s career-spanning 2018 compilation 50 Years: Don’t Stop surges 6 - 4 on the UK Albums Chart, equalling the highest position of its chart career, previously reached 36, 34 and 30 weeks ago. By contrast, 50 Years: Don’t Stop has accumulated just 2,721 vinyl sales, suggesting that a future vinyl reissue could easily propel it to an even higher chart peak.

Elsewhere, Fleetwood Mac’s catalogue makes a major impact across the UK singles chart, with Dreams, Everywhere, and The Chain all returning to the Top 100, underlining the band’s multi-generational appeal as 2026 gets underway.

Nearly 50 years after its release, Fleetwood Mac's Rumours isn't just the best selling classic rock album of 2025, it's the 25th-best selling record of the year overall.

Of course, the very top of the 2025 year-end Billboard 200 Albums chart is dominated by younger pop, country and rap stars such as Taylor Swift, Morgan Wallen and Kendrick Lamar. But only 21 of them put out a record that sold more than Rumours. (Swift has two albums in the top 24, and Wallen has three.)

Fleetwood Mac appear in the Top 200 twice, with their 1988 compilation Greatest Hits turning up at No. 136. All but four of the 20 classic rock albums that made this year's chart are best-of collections, as you can see in the list below. Sublime's 1996's self-titled record, Metallica's 1991 "Black Album" and Nirvana's Nevermind were the only records to buck this trend.

Concert review: Stevie Nicks delivers a timeless performance in Tampa

The Fleetwood Mac legend still delivers the goods — and the goosebumps — with her one-of-a-kind voice.

On a wet, dreary day in Tampa, it was left to Stevie Nicks to bring us into the light.

And, boy, did she ever.

The hall of famer breezed onto the stage Sunday, mostly recovered from the fractured shoulder that delayed her Florida tour stops by 14 weeks.

Nicks’ primary instrument needed no mending — that unmatched, unmistakable breathe-only-through-your-mouth patented voice of hers.

At 77, she remains mesmerizing and enchanting. A total goddess, spreading goosebumps like fairy dust.

Some great singers can raise the hairs on your forearms every now and again. Try evoking that reaction from your audience five times a song. That’s the indelible Nicks quotient.

A packed house greeted her enthusiastically as she grabbed hold of a microphone stand wrapped in sequined scarves and launched into the 1950s classic “Not Fade Away.” How fitting that an icon such as Nicks, who has inspired so many modern-day singers for her style, stage presence and songwriting, would open with music from one of her early influences, the great Buddy Holly.

She wore high black boots, a long charcoal skirt and blonde hair permed like it could be 1980 all over again.

Nicks is not a prolific songwriter, but she manages to make them count. “When the rain washes you clean, you’ll know,” she crooned during a near flawless version of “Dreams,” the first of four Fleetwood Mac songs she would offer.

We’re half a century removed from when she joined Fleetwood Mac as her romantic partner Lindsey Buckingham’s plus one, before emerging as a primary focal point. Buckingham and Nicks had dropped out of college at San Jose State (my alma mater … go Spartans!!) before recording together one barely noticed album. But Mick Fleetwood had heard enough to recognize something special about Buckingham’s finger-picking guitar playing. He was recruited to replace Bob Welch. Buckingham agreed to come along — but only if the band took his girlfriend, too. The rest, as they say, is history.

Just a few months ago, Nicks and Buckingham signaled a thawing in their topsy-turvy relationship, jointly posting on social media about their 1973 album being remastered. Will they reunite on stage? One can only hope.

The audience Sunday skewed younger than you might have expected. Mothers brought their daughters — yards of capes and lace bridging the generations. The blend of ages decked in shawls, fishnet and bolo hats underscored Nicks’ timeless appeal.

The last time Nicks was on Channelside Drive six years ago, she appeared with Fleetwood Mac, sans Buckingham, who had been kicked out. The band performed Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’” with former Heartbreakers lead guitarist Mike Campbell newly minted as a member of Fleetwood Mac. She reprised the song Sunday and also played “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” with her longtime collaborator Waddy Wachtel singing Petty’s part. When in Florida, you must bow down to Petty.

These are not grueling sets for Nicks. She plays the same 15 songs every three to five days. It’s a parade of hits — though “Leather and Lace,” “Sara” and “Silver Springs” were absent.

In their place, Nicks shared more personal anecdotes between songs — about music, relationships and life. I saw her in 1989 at the height of her powers, and she wasn’t nearly as engaged. As her career approaches an inevitable endpoint, she’s grown more reflective and introspective on stage. And it delighted the crowd.

She told one story that spanned more than four minutes about her first recording with Petty.

And she was the only one who didn’t seem to mind Sunday’s drenching.

“I made a fantastic video like about six minutes of the rain on my hotel window because it was so beautiful,” she told everyone. “I’m going to put it on loop, and I’m going to put it on when I’m going to sleep, and I’m going to sleep to that rain.”

Nicks has always projected a mystical aura — as someone who might actually twirl backstage around a boiling cauldron, tossing in crystals and eyes of newt. But in relaying her personal stories, she felt real and relatable.

Her set gained momentum in the home stretch, with “Stand Back,” “Gold Dust Woman,” “Gypsy” and “Edge of Seventeen” before concluding with impeccable encores, “Rhiannon” and “Landslide,” her anthem made all the more poignant as images of the late Christine McVie projected on the big screens. The entire arena sang along.

With the exception of “The Lighthouse,” recorded last year, every song was penned a lifetime ago. Nicks doesn’t need a lot of new music to stay relevant. Not when you’ve got that spellbinding voice.

And she’s still got it. I have the goosebumps to prove it.

Stevie Nicks is one of the most significant feminist icons in rock history. Her entire career is a testament to what it means to be an independent, complex, and powerful woman thriving in a hyper-masculine industry. I am endlessly inspired by her unwavering commitment to take control of her own narrative.

Despite a shoulder injury this summer that forced her to postpone her scheduled August 23rd date at Heritage Bank Center, the 77-year-old songstress, Stevie Nicks, returned to the spotlight, twirling in her signature shawls and delivering her classic hits. The evening at Heritage Bank Center was less a standard concert and more an immersive experience, part musical performance, part "An Evening With Stevie Nicks," where extended, sometimes self-deprecating, anecdotes formed the evening’s rich tapestry.

As the powerhouse singer-songwriter for Fleetwood Mac and a monumental solo artist, Nicks deliberately crafted her ethereal, bohemian stage persona, marked by flowing lace and iconic shawls, as an act of self-assertion. This look was a magnificent refusal to conform to the masculine or overly sexualized uniforms often demanded of women in music, instead choosing to articulate a deep, potent feminine power visually. She taught me that embracing your femininity is an act of strength.

Nicole Atkins opened the evening. Atkins delivered a performance she called the "best 30 minutes of my life," a truly remarkable feat given she received the call to open for Stevie Nicks just three days prior. A captivating old-school torch singer for the modern world, Atkins got the audience up on their feet to participate in a unique Ted Danson slow dance contest. The coveted prize for the winner? A picture of Ted Danson himself! Atkins is certainly no stranger to the spotlight, regularly earning high praise on year-end "best of" lists from major publications like Rolling Stone, NPR, and The New York Times. Her impressive list of collaborators spans musical giants such as Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, David Byrne, Chris Isaak, Spoon, and Elvis Costello. Her performance perfectly showcased why she was chosen by Nicks to open the evening.

One of the evening’s many highlights for the Cincinnati audience was the thoughtful anecdotes Nicks shared before each song. A definite crowd favorite was her retelling of the story behind her classic duet with Tom Petty, "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around," which appeared on her 1981 debut solo album,Bella Donna.

Before playing the tune, Nicks recounted how her producer, Jimmy Iovine, delivered some difficult news when the album was complete: she didn't have a single. Nicks recalled the moment, stating, "There is nothing that anybody can ever say at the beginning of your solo career that can be worse than that, because writing a single is just not that easy.” To solve the problem, Iovine connected her with Tom Petty. Petty generously offered not only to give her a song but also to sing it with her.

She fondly remembered how she laughed about showing up “way overdressed,” she “dressed to the nines” for her first studio session with Petty. She was so nervous and then, of course, knocked the song out of the park in a single take. Nicks offered a heartfelt "Thank you, Tom," before launching into an energetic performance of the song. For the live rendition in Cincinnati, she was joined by her longtime guitarist and music director, Waddy Wachtel, who sang Petty's vocal parts

Later in the show, Nicks recounted recording at Abbey Road for the first time with Harry Styles, switching between memories she’s carried with her all these years. Her emotional tribute to Petty during “Free Fallin'" hit especially hard with the Cincinnati fans.

Nicks' iconic shawls were central to her stage presence and the stories she shared last night. She rotated through her original collection, letting them flow dramatically behind her as she twirled. Nicks has famously described these shawls as "magic." The power of these garments was clear; at one point, when it appeared she was handing one down to the audience, the way I almost dove down to grab it would have shocked you.

As she closed the night, speaking intimately to the Cincinnati crowd at Heritage Bank Center, Nicks acknowledged this profound connection: "As an entertainer, I try to entertain you, but it's like you are also entertaining me at the same time. I have loved being here... you were great, and I appreciate it so much, every minute of it." Offering a heartfelt sign-off that spoke to her timeless spirit, she urged the audience, "Stay well, stay warm, be careful, take care of yourselves. And hope for a new world. A happy world where we can all have fun and laugh and have music, and do all the things we love to do. And dance. Dancing is very important. If you dance, I swear to you that you won't get old."

Stevie Nicks has been making music longer than I've been alive, but she has single-handedly gotten me through the most pivotal moments of my life. It's only fitting I got to see the "Gold Dust Woman" herself after hitting my most recent pivotal moment yet...turning 26.

The 77-year-old singer and songwriter returned to Cincinnati, where she "feels very at home," for a sold-out show on Nov. 30 (four days after my birthday). Nicks was originally supposed to play at the Heritage Bank Center on Aug. 23, but the show was rescheduled after she fractured her shoulder.

"Me and my ex-broken shoulder are here to entertain you," she told the crowd. And she did exactly that.

Nicks had the arena spellbound from the moment she stepped onto the stage. Dressed in all-black with a flowy, lace skirt, Nicks glided and twirled across the stage as she sang hits like "Dreams," "Stand Back," "Rhiannon," my all-time favorite, "Edge of Seventeen."

Old or young, it didn't matter. Everyone in the crowd was dressed in Nicks' aesthetic: velvet, fringe, hats with veils and feathers, lace, long flowy skirts, crimped hair and, of course, shawls. It was like I had time-traveled back to the 1970s. Even Nicks' voice seemed to transcend age and capture the angst of her Fleetwood Mac and Bella Donna eras.

Nicks ended her nearly two-hour-long concert by reminding fans to dance because if you dance, you won't get old. Her words, much like her songs, struck me. Getting older is truly a mind trick. Your body ages, sure, and you might not be as quick as you once were, but you're moving, and that's keeping your spirit young, which is exactly what Nicks' concert embodied.

The "Gypsy" singer performed 13 songs, concluding the show with two encore songs, which happen to be among my favorites, "Rhiannon" and "Landslide."

During the show, she paid tribute to her old friends and musicians. She covered Tom Petty's "Free Fallin'" and performed their duet "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around." Although Nicks was playing for us, the concert felt like she was paying homage to her friends and collaborators, and it was evident during "Landslide."

I wasn't around when the song was released, but Nicks gave this performance and the entire concert her all. As she sang the final tune of the night, photos of Nicks and her longtime friend and former Fleetwood Mac bandmate Christine McVie cascaded across the screen (it was the third anniversary of McVie's passing), and I found myself thinking of all the women in my life, especially my mother's side of the family. I've always associated Nicks with them. They're always playing her music and have loads of Fleetwood Mac and Nicks' vinyls (which I now possess).

It doesn't matter what I'm doing, "Landslide" could come on and I will stop in my tracks. The song hits different for me and I'm sure it's a shared experince among most music listeners, especially women, but hearing it live was otherworldly.

It was honestly one of the most impactful moments of my life.

So, 'Can I handle the seasons of my life?'

"Well, I've been afraid of changing 'cause I've built my life around you." Those lyrics alone cause my throat to tighten and tears to well in my eyes. I listen to "Landslide" on my birthday every year as a reminder to embrace myself.

Every year, except this one.

So, it's perfect that the final song was none other than "Landslide," which Nicks famously told The New York Times she wrote in 1973 when she was just 27. Only a year older than I am today.

"I did already feel old in a lot of ways," Nicks told the outlet. "I'd been working as a waitress and a cleaning lady for years. I was tired."

I'm tired and getting older, too, and it seems like no matter what, whenever "Landslide" comes on, I stop. I listen (and most likely sob) and reflect on all that's changing and will change. There are a lot of uncertainties and changes in your 20s, and even though everyone says this is what these years are for, it is exhausting.

It's exhausting not knowing where you'll end up or where life will take you. But you must remind yourself to slow down. There was no particular reason why I didn't listen to "Landslide" on Nov. 26. It didn't happen on purpose, but it might be because this is the first year I felt like my life was bountiful and viewed it as something to be cherished, not discarded.

"Can I handle the seasons of my life?" Hearing these words leave Nicks' lips left me grappling with my own reality. I'm entering a new season of my life. Twenty-six is the age I'll get married, obtain my master's degree (and receive my own health insurance). It's a big change, and to me, this feels like the age adulthood truly begins.

I had grown quite comfortable with the life I was living, but if there's anything Nicks and her songs have taught me, it's that we must change to evolve, and like her, I, too, will not let a landslide stop me.

What’s playing on Stevie Nicks’ speakers? Well, a lot of things are, especially when she is using “the power of music” to heal.

When the legendary singer-songwriter, 77, stepped away from the stage temporarily earlier this year to heal from a shoulder fracture, music filled her ears nonstop, she tells PEOPLE in an exclusive interview.

Giving a rare glimpse into her current music rotation while speaking about her new Bella Donna Barbie doll, the hitmaker includes an indie band that opened for her at a recent show and reveals the process she uses to discover new artists.

“I'm all over the internet. I listen to a lot of current bands,” Nicks says, listing The Midnight, The White Kites and Night Traveler as some of the groups she enjoys of late.

“And all through my recovery, I've listened,” the star continues. “That's the one thing that I have done physically through this recovery, is to really listen to all this younger music that I love. And when I wasn't feeling well at all, it just carried me on a cloud through this whole thing.”

So it was full circle when one of the bands that "carried" her, Night Traveler, opened for the Fleetwood Mac frontwoman at her Phoenix concert on Oct. 7 — one of her first shows back post-injury.

The Texas-based rock duo later shared an Instagram post reflecting on the monumental gig.

"We thought opening for [Stevie Nicks] would be the coolest musical moment of our lives,” the band wrote in the caption. “Turns out the kindness and sincerity of her spirit that she shared with us will be the thing we never forget.”

Regardless of what she’s listening to, Nicks tells PEOPLE, “All my tapes are really curated by me.” Still, she explains, “I'm not high-tech at all.”

In the past five or six years, the "Silver Springs" singer has started using radio functions on platforms like Pandora and Spotify.

“I push the thumbs-up. Love this. Don't love that. Love this,” she explains. Then, Nicks makes a list, which becomes a tape, which becomes a source of healing and inspiration during difficult times.

“Just to lay in bed and stare at the ceiling is not my idea of a good time,” the rock icon explains. “That kept me dancing to a point, just kind of Snoop Dogging around my place, because you can be pretty beat-up, and you can still dance if inspirational music comes on.”

“The power of music to heal you is amazing,” adds Nicks. “If I didn't have those tapes, I don't know what I would have done.”

Another piece of music Nicks has been listening to lately? Buckingham Nicks, the eponymous 1973 album she recorded with her ex and former bandmate Lindsey Buckingham, before they brought their talents to Fleetwood Mac.

The former rock duo re-released the project in September, prompting Nicks to listen for the first time in a long while, she tells PEOPLE.

"If you can ever just sit in a big room with somebody who has a great stereo or whatever you want to call it, great speakers, or lives next door to a studio, just go in and listen to it, because you'll hear stuff in Buckingham Nicks that none of us have heard since that record came out,” the star explains, “because it was only pressed at one time and went out that one time.”

Nicks says she has even “had some people go, ‘I put it on in my house stereo that goes all over, and I walk all over the house and just listen to it, and it's like I'm in a huge studio listening to you guys make this record.’ ”

“I don't even have a copy, so it's like, when you listen to this, it's like you're in the studio with us,” she adds. “And there are parts, vocal parts, music parts that I haven't heard in so long that I'm, like, ‘Wow. I would join that band.’ ”
