Satoko Berg: This weekend, I am going to take my boys to see Judy Pfaff’s exhibit. I love installation art and love how kids respond in amazement. Being literally surrounded by art and talking about how we feel is one of my favorite things to do with my boys.

Raquel Lilly: The Lilly’s will be celebrating Valentines Day and our baby boy Zhyrie’s Birthday at Ski Round Top. paintball and tubing all weekend!

Vince Moley: Saturday going down to Baltimore’s Little Italy for Valentine’s Day. Baltimore is a great city to visit because of the variety of things and places to checkout. Little Italy is cool little area that has many Italian restaurants (food + wine = happy) and that traditional Italian neighborhood feel. We’re going to a friend’s restaurant Amicci’s.

Mel Conrad: This Friday, from 9 p.m. ’til midnight, I’ll be taking in some live music at the Holy Hound Taproom in York. Local band, The Wild Hymns will be providing soulful-indie-folk-blues.

Mary Yeaple: This weekend, I’m heading east to the Greater Philadelphia Irish & Scottish Music Festival, with 25 performers and a variety of Celtic vendors all under one roof. It’s a very fun weekend with regional, national and international performers. It’s like an annual family reunion for many of my festival friends who come from several states for the weekend.

Lyn Bergdoll: Agatha Christie’s murder mysteries are timeless entertainment. I’m looking forward to seeing one of her best known works,“And Then There Were None,” at the Fulton this weekend. This “whodunit” is always fun, even when you have seen it before! It runs until Feb. 15.

Sue Edmonds: Mike and I are planning an informal Valentine’s Day celebration with a low-key dinner at DiCarlo’s Pizza in downtown York, followed by a movie. DiCarlo’s makes pizza the “Steubenville, Ohio” way. It’s square and crispy and they add the cheese after the pizza comes out of the oven. Their bright, nicely decorated shop is located directly across the street from the York County Judicial Center.

Lyn Bergdoll: I’m looking forward to having lunch at Wyndridge Farm this weekend. Located at 885 S. Pleasant Ave., Dallastown, this beautiful country setting is now attracting many local visitors as well as guests from out of town. Several of my friends have had lunch there and rave about the food, service and ambiance.

Mary Yeaple: This weekend, Rodney and I are heading downtown for First Friday and checking out many of the Date Night events… there are a lot of delicious-sounding specials. (Since I’m traveling next weekend, we are having our Valentine’s Day celebration a week early.) Saturday night, we are catching Don’t Look Back at Mudhook Brewing Co.

Vince Moley: Headed to the Poconos for a guys weekend.

Dillon Samuelson: On Thursday, I’ll be attending the opening reception of YorkArts’ “Emerging Visions” exhibit: a show highlighting the artwork of nine undergraduate students from schools in Pa., Md., and N.Y. I enjoy seeing what undergraduates are creating, but it can be difficult to view art students’ work without attending their schools. This show gives us the opportunity to see work from a selection of skilled students from multiple schools all in one place.

Kelley Gibson: I’ll be taking the girls out on the town for First Friday date night and visit Redeux for their Lady & The Tramp event. Saturday is a Gibson girls spa day-I’m taking Maddy and Kaelin to Salon Oxygen to get our nails done. Kelly always makes them feel tres chic!

Robert Godfrey: I am looking forward to first Friday this month because the theme is “Date Night”.  I have a big date with a bunch of creatives on some super secret things to come for The Handsome Cab.  Happy Hour will be fun from 5 to 7 PM at the Left Bank for some of their Calamari and red wine.  Then off to visit Marketview Arts for the Image of the Artist:  Self-Portraits in the York College Galleries upstairs.  I want to mention the secret code word at I-ron-ic because all love bugs will receive 10% off and that certainly sounds like me.  I will end the evening in Royal Square and see the exhibit of Art and Sole at the King’s Courtyard that features canvas sneakers painted like famous artists.  Finally, a pop in to see our friends at Prime Art Supply and Hive ArtSpace.

Mike and Sue Edmonds: Now that the American football has ended, Sue and I are turning our attention to the 6 Nations Championship Rugby Union Tournament.  The 6 Nations championship is played over seven weekends in February and March (and sometimes April) by England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales.  It will be entertaining television on Friday, as our favorite club, Wales, hosts England, at a rocking Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. We’ll be back at York’s Central Market on Saturday.  The plan is to eat a hearty breakfast at Tim Spangler’s excellent Mezzogiorno, then walk off some calories, while shopping and shooting pictures of York’s historic architecture.  Later, we will meet up with friends for drinks and another Kable House concert.  We’re excited to hear 24 year-old Lydia Loveless with opening act, The Silks.

John Bobby: It will be a busy weekend downtown starting with all the stuff going on for York’s First Friday. The theme this month is “Date Night.” Capping off the night with a showing of Mel Brooks’ Spaceballs at the Capitol Theatre at The Strand at 9 p.m. Tickets are $7 in advance or at the box office. Saturday night, having pizza and a drink at my one of favorite new downtown places, Brewvino. Then heading to Central Market on for the latest Kable House show, Lydia Loveless and opening act The Silks. The show starts at 8 p.m., and tickets are $15.

Jeff Gochoco: Special weekend for me! Family reunion and Dad’s birthday bash weekend starts with Friday night’s R&B Groove Jones final appearance at Bistro 19. Saturday is dinner at the Eagles Nest and Sunday, I’m hosting a Super Bowl party at my house.

Raquel Lilly: Saturday, my hubby and I will be attending the Chris Brown and Trey Songz concert at the Royal Farms Arena in downtown Baltimore. We have great seats and I know its sure to be fun!

Mike and Sue Edmonds: Sue and I can never get enough live music. So, we went to yet another Kable House Presents concert this week. The Last Bison, an alternative folk band from Virginia, performed at Central Market Thursday night. Leo DiSanto opened. York is really fortunate to have such this unique concert series. Of course, we’ll be watching the Super Bowl and all the crazy new commercials on Sunday.

John Bobby: This Saturday, I’m volunteering walking dogs at the SPCA of York County. There are a lot of dogs here, and volunteers help to make sure every dog gets walked, every day. They are always looking for volunteers to help with the animals, and anyone interested can check out their website for details.

Robert Godfrey: This will be a big weekend at my household.  My son is graduating from college in Pittsburgh on Friday and we are heading west.  We will soon see what the next chapter is in his life.  Saturday, I will be supporting the National Cancer Institute by attending a Silent Auction/Craft Show/Bake Sale at Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. I am going to a wine tasting with the American Wine Society on Saturday evening.  I joined this group about 2 years ago and have really enjoyed learning so much more about wine.  It costs $49 for an individual membership and $62 for 2 members from the same household per year.  There are two York Chapters if you are interested.  We usually meet once a month at a members home.  The cost is $20 per person for a tasting and the host picks a theme, purchases the wine, researches each wine, educates the group, and provides food for all to enjoy.  The host is reimbursed for the wine costs.  This month’s theme is ports.  Cheers everyone!

Kelley Gibson: On Saturday, the girls and I will go visit one of our favorite places, Refindings Architectural Warehouse. Manager Lou Girolami (Mr. Lou, as the girls call him) loves to show us around as we take a walk back through time strolling through their antique wares and kitschy knick-knacks.

JJ Sheffer: I’ll be spending this weekend at the office working on planning some upcoming special events. Looking forward to calling it a day on Saturday and walking over to Tutoni’s for dinner. They source their ingredients locally, and their seasonal menu includes a wintertime version of their Rettland Farm pork loin that’s some of the best comfort food I can imagine when the weather is this cold and gray. They’ve also got a brussels sprouts dish on their small plates menu that comes in a large enough portion for sharing, though you may not want to – it’s got crispy bits of pork belly and it’s finished with a sweep of spicy mayo.

Robert Godfrey: It looks like my wine events are kicking in.  On Friday I am going to a wine tasting at the Wine and Spirits store on Eastern Blvd from 4 to 6 p.m. for an organic wine tasting.  They are featuring 4 wines from California, Spain, Italy, and France. Please be sure to notice the Chairman’s Selection areas of the store.  These wines tend to be of great taste and value.  Saturday I will be heading to Central Market for some fresh vegetables and purchasing a few items for dinner on Sunday and I want to be sure to stop for breakfast at The Copper Crust.  The sweets and baked items are amazing.  Saturday we are going to with a friend of ours for an old world vs. new world wine pairing dinner at the Country Club of York.

John Bobby: This Saturday morning, I’ll be starting the day at The Green Bean Roasting Company enjoying a hand-crafted latte. Then I’ll walk to two of the newest places to shop in downtown York: 56 Urban Provisions and Redeux Marketplace. Saturday night I’m going to the Hotel Hershey to catch some live jazz in the Iberian Lounge. The Dave Wilson & Danny Stuber Trio will be playing from 8 to 11 p.m.

Mary Yeaple: This weekend, we are catching some local live music at Mudhook Brewing Co. The band 3 Dollar Suit is performing from 8-11 p.m. Staff will be in suit coats, and customers are encouraged to wear suits as well. (According to Mudhook’s Facebook page, loaners will be available.)

Raquel Lilly: On Thursday, I will be attending a dinner for the United Way of York County to celebrate the previous and upcoming year in giving. The celebration will be at Heritage Hills. On Friday, myself and a few very good friends will be enjoying dinner at the Yorktowne Hotel. On Sunday, the Equality Fest committee for 2015 will be meeting to discuss this year’s event while enjoying a meal at G’s Jook Joint.

Susan Scofield: It’s a crazy week for me, but if I can figure out how to work it in I would like to attend the Judy Pfaff Artist Lecture & Opening Reception at York College Art Galleries on Thursday, and hopefully make it to Beer Mongers on Friday for The Susquehanna Bottom Feeders, which is always a great show!

Lyn Bergdoll: Remembering many family trips to Gettysburg, this area has always fascinated me. I have not been to the Visitor’s Center there, but plan to change that this weekend. The film shown there is narrated by Morgan Freeman, and is highly recommended, as is the Cyclorama. Spending time in the museum is sure to be a moving and educational experience.

Mike & Sue Edmonds: This weekend Sue and I will join good friends for dinner and drinks at Wyndridge Farms in Dallastown. We’ve been hearing good things about them, and know from firsthand experience, they brew a very drinkable Chocolate Imperial Porter. But this will be our first visit to their venue. We’re excited to sample their food and crafty ciders.

Satoko Berg: We are planning on going to the Pennsylvania Farm Show. We have never been there and have no idea what to expect! But, I think the kids are going to enjoy it!

Vince Moley: Saturday night we’re looking forward to a nice dinner at one of my favorite restaurants in York, Blue Moon Cafe. Sunday looks like a great day for NFL football and R&R.

Susan Scofield: The hot ticket for Saturday is the Hibrewnation craft beer festival in Gettysburg – over 80 beers to try, plus Shane Speal’s Snake Oil Band. Yes please! Sunday, I’ll be getting my art fix at the Opening Reception for the “World Views” exhibit at the York Art Association from 2 to 4 p.m.

Jeff Gochoco: Friday, I’m checking out the Reggae group, Highgrade at the Waterway, 220 W. Philadelphia St. in York.

Rita Whitney: This weekend I’m skipping out of town to go to my nieces first birthday party. Ever the artist though I am crafting some hand made blocks that will be painted with her name on them! If I was in town though, I would be heading to the meditation workshop at Evolution Power Yoga in York.

Edquina Washington: For this entire weekend in January, I will be honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. At 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17, I will be attending the Black Minister’s Associations MLK Image Award Luncheon at the Holiday Inn Conference Center. Sunday, Jan. 18 at 4 p.m., Mayor Bracey & Lincoln Charter School honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with the 2015 MLK America’s Sunday Supper: Where Do We Go From Here? with a free community meal and community conversation about living up to Dr. King’s dreams. Monday, Jan. 19, at 8 a.m., my family and I will be participating in Crispus Attucks Association’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. event, making it a day on and not a day off! Later on Monday evening, at 7 p.m., I will be attending the Black Minister’s Association’s Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ceremony at Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Lyn Bergdoll: There is nothing more fabulous than the music of George and Ira Gershwin! Some of their most beloved songs are included in the musical “Nice Work If You Can Get It,” playing at the Hershey Theatre this weekend. This brand new musical features a song-and-dance extravaganza, and I cannot wait to see it!Gershwin hits in the show include “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off,” “Someone to Watch Over Me” and “Fascinating Rhythm”. With this kind of Broadway Magic, who could ask for anything more!

Robert Godfrey: This weekend, we are going for some music at Kable House Presents Arc Iris and special guest Anthony D’Amato.  They are performing inside Central Market on Friday, Jan. 16 at 8 p.m. and tickets are only $12 at www.kablehousepresents.com.  There are links to each performers music that you can listen to online to sample their music style.  Mudhook Brewing Company will have their craft beer for sale and Allegro wines during the performance.  Saturday, we are planning dinner with our neighbors and a trip to Refindings on Sunday because you just never know what you might find there.

Mary Yeaple: This weekend, I am checking out the new event that York Revolution is hosting: FestivIce sounds like fun, and it also benefits Special Olympics, a charity that is near and dear to my heart. On Tuesday evening (Jan. 20), I’m heading over to Annie Bailey’s Irish Pub in downtown Lancaster, for a fundraiser for Hooley School of Irish Dance’s scholarship fund. Food and drink and Irish dancing … What’s not to love?

Raquel Lilly: This weekend the Lilly’s will be celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his life’s work. On Saturday, January 17, 2015 we will be visiting the Smithsonian museums and the Martin Luther King Jr. memorial site. On Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015 the entire family will go to Franks Theaters to see the movie “Selma.” Our culminating event will be on Monday, January 19, 2015. Our family will be volunteering in Baltimore, MD with my grandmother Hattie, who experienced the Civil Rights era first hand; by participating in a block clean up in her neighborhood of Woodlawn.

Susan Scofield: Friday I will be heading over to Beer Mongers to see what’s on tap and to check out some low down, swampy blues from veteran Muscle Shoals musician Russell Gulley. Saturday I will be home working on submissions for three different upcoming art exhibitions here in York, all of which are pulling me out of my artistic comfort zone, which is very challenging!

Mel Conrad: This Saturday at 7 p.m., My friend Susan Loveland and I will be attending – as we almost always do, The 17th Annual Jazz Vespers Concert in honor of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. This concert takes place at First Presbyterian Church of York, 225 E. Market St.

Vince Moley: This weekend, I’m establishing my New Year’s resolutions. I’m working off some extra pounds at the gym and celebrating my grandmother’s 90th birthday.

Lyn Bergdoll: The 72nd Golden Globe Awards will be shown on NBC on Sunday, Jan. 11 at 8 p.m. This event honors the year’s best in film and television. Combining entertainment and fashion, it is pure fun! Could a musical win Best Motion Picture for 2014?

JJ Sheffer: The Imitation Game opens this weekend at Midtown Cinema, and my son and I look forward to seeing it Friday evening. We’re members at MC, so our tickets are always $5. On Saturday, I will attend one of my most beloved annual events: the Jazz Vespers service at First Presbyterian Church, honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Jeff Stabley puts together an awesome roster of jazz musicians. This year’s line-up includes Diane Wilson, Chris Bacas, Tim Warfield, Mack White, and many others and the program will feature an original composition by Ronnie Waters and new work written exclusively for this performance by Carla Christopher. They’ve also added Shawn Beck on turntable. Starts at 7 p.m. Don’t be late, because this is always a standing room-only event. Free will offering will be collected.

Jeff Gochoco: Friday, I’m going to see the Sabrina Duke Trio at Moondancer Winery, from 7-10 p.m.

Kelley Gibson: On Thursday night, I’m going to catch the Le Petit Monster Drawing Rally at YorkArts Gallery at 10 N. Beaver St. A Monster Drawing Rally is a live drawing event. During this mini (le petit) version, 25 artists will create drawings during 25 minute shifts. Completed works will be sold for $25. On Sunday, Jan. 11 at 1 p.m., my princesses and I will ‘Let it Go’ with Elsa, Anna, and Cinderella at the Enchanted Teapot’s One Year Anniversary party at the Red Brick Bakery & Tea Room in Red Lion.

Dillon Samuelson: On Thursday, Jan. 8, I’ll be participating in YorkArts’ “Le Petit Monster Drawing Rally,” a live drawing event celebrating the organization’s 25th anniversary, consisting of 25 artists making pieces of art in 25 minute shifts. The completed works will then be sold for $25 to benefit YorkArts’ fundraising campaign. All are welcome to come watch the event, which takes place at YorkArts on 10 N. Beaver St. from 6 to 8 p.m.

Sue and Mike Edmonds: Sue and I plan to spend the weekend in Philadelphia to attend a holiday party, take in some live jazz and visit the Simeone Foundation Auto Museum. The Simeone is located near the airport and has a very reasonable entry fee ($12) to see their world-class collection of about 70 racing sports cars. This weekend, they are hosting one of their “demo days” so we’ll get to see, hear and smell four cars that they specially selected for their innovative design: 1924 Lancia Lambda, 1937 Cord 812 Supercharged, 1950 Allard J2 and a 1966 Ferrari 356P “Tre Posti” Berlinetta Speciale.

Carol Oldenburg: York City Pretzel Company is on the list for Friday along with all the shops and galleries downtown and in Royal Square. The pretzels and dips are yummy. I cannot wait until they offer their flavored hard pretzels as a regular item!

Mel Conrad: This week, I’ll be drawing free caricatures at Faith United Methodist Church, 126 E. Market St. in Hallam from 7 p.m. ’til 11 p.m. as apart of their New Years Eve celebration. This event is open to the public. On First Friday night, I’ll be at Bistro 19 listening to Groove Jones from 10 p.m. ’til 1 a.m.

Robert Godfrey: Bonne Anne York County from Brussels and Paris. I continue my European Holiday and will be spending New Year’s Eve in Paris and will return home just in time to go to Marketview Arts and see the exhibit by Terri Yacovelli in the Lower Level at 37 W. Philadelphia St. from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015. Her work is really amazing. Stop in and see another amazing York artist and replace that item from China on a wall somewhere with something local, something you just love, and something that will enhance your home with pleasure every time you walk past an amazing piece of art. Raquel J. Lilly: This week the Lilly’s will be celebrating the New Year in downtown York and enjoying the weekend delights of First Friday!

Mike and Sue Edmonds: We will definitely spend Saturday night watching one of the best rivalries in all of professional football, as our Baltimore Ravens take on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

JJ Sheffer: My son and I enjoy the First Friday film series at the Capitol Theatre. This month they’re screening Monty Python’s Life of Brian. First Friday films begin at 9 p.m., so you don’t need to give up any of the First Friday activities downtown in order to attend. On Saturday night, Kyle Morgan plays a solo show Tellus360 in downtown Lancaster. Tellus is one of my favorite local venues, and Kyle is a fantastic musician and songwriter. He’s originally from around here, but now lives in Portland, Maine, and tours with the band Tumbling Bones.

Lyn Bergdoll: I am really looking forward to seeing the movie “Into the Woods,” based on this Tony Award-Winning Broadway Musical, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The plots and main characters from “Little Red Riding Hood”, “Jack and the Beanstalk”, “Rapunzel”, and “Cinderella” are intertwined to prove that we are all part of a community, dependent on each other, and not alone.

Dillon Samuelson: On Friday this week I’ll be downtown for First Friday events. Among the many things to see and do, I’ll be checking out the new art openings at Marketview Arts on Philadelphia Street and then making my way to the Royal Square to see the galleries on King Street. After that I’ll head over to F. H. Pappy’s (just off King Street) for the Shake Up’s debut concert.
