time flies by, and suddenly it's almost february again. one of my most favorite days in the year is coming - valentine's day! it's time to start thinking what would be the best gift for this year's valentine. how about the gifts made lovingly with your own hands?

lego pencil toppers

last week i received a custom order for some lego themed pencil toppers from a customer. she wanted the pencil toppers to consist of the colorful lego bricks plus the lego (mini figure) head.

i usually make animal head’s pencil toppers, so this lego thing is new to me. i like challenge, so i accepted the order. the only problem was, i didn't know what a lego head is. so i googled the images to find out what a lego head looks like. this was what i found.

and this was how my lego head pencil topper turned out.

not bad, right? i'm so proud of my self.

here's the clearer view of the lego pencil toppers set before i packed them up for delivery.

the pencil toppers were quite simple to make. maybe the rather tricky one was the lego head. but just see how cute they turned out to be. they will make perfect fillings for birthday goody bags or christmas socks.

i'm planning to post a tutorial and patterns for the lego pencil toppers soon, if time permits. just keep checking this blog!

a lot had happened since my last post here. bad blogger, bad blogger. here's some worth blogging stories.

my little girl turned 11 on june 15th. we had a small birthday party at the day care center and gave away some goody bags to her friends and had a small lunch together.

i made these key chain princess dolls for a friend’s niece’s birthday last month. i dressed the princesses with pink dress and a letter ‘J’ on the blouse. i think they turned out beautiful.

the cat gang

i have been receiving requests to make cat theme finger puppets. only now i manage to come up with the full set.

it's not easy to make five different type of cats. because unlike dogs, aside from their colors, cats are almost identical in shape. i can just come up with any color and shape of cats for the puppets. but only because i'm such a sucker for details, then i have to come up with the exact breed for each of the cat. it's killing me!! but thanks to google, i now know a little more about cat breeds in the world :)

my long weekend was filled with sewing some finger puppets orders. i also received a custom order to make a 'pooh n friends' finger puppets. so i googled the pictures, and came up with pooh, eeyore, tigger, piglet and heffalump.

my favorite is eeyore. and because i'm a 'details freak' i had to make the tail with that cute pink ribbon on it. drop dead cute!!

meet the little monsters, the latest finger puppets collection in floral blossom's etsy store.

i have been keeping the idea in my head for some time. to create cute little colorful monsters for children to play with, so they won't be easily afraid of the monsters hiding under their bed, closet, the attic, basement...

i'm telling you it's not easy to create monsters that are cute and friendly looking. i had several earlier designs that i think would easily haunt the children in their nightmares than to accompany them in their play. i had to scrapped them off for good.

do you think little girls will like the little monsters? or maybe only boys will like them? i hope my little monsters will soon generate their own fans. after this i think will come up with more themes for boys. robots, maybe?

april 5th

i went to the bruno mars concert! it was amazing to see the talented star performed live with my very own eyes. the crowd was wild and crazy. sea of teenager girls (and few boys) were all i could saw. there were lots of yelling and screaming.

maybe it was a mistake for me to choose festival instead of tribune seat to enjoy the show. but all for a good reason, i felt lucky enough to be part of the crowd that night.

the effort to buy the ticket online was another struggle. when the promotor started to open the ticket order line at 9 am sharp on feb 3rd, the website was practically jammed. i made myself glued my eyes to the laptop for the frustrating 2 hours, pressing the f5 button over and over again to refresh the page, until finally my order went through and i was eligible to purchase the ticket. phew.

anyway, the show was superb. bruno was very communicative with his fans. lots of improvisation with his songs (thank god i have watched almost all of his performances in youtube), lots of synchronized dancing with his band member (lol). not very good sound system 'though, but i don't think the crowd mind. after an overall of non-stop 14 songs, the show was finished within an hour or so. too short? think so.

but it's ok. it was a night to remember. thanks bruno, for your music and your talent :)

i know i've been such a lazy blogger and crafter. i haven't added new items to my etsy shop for weeks! all i've been doing was drowning in my daily routine between office and home, too exhausted to come up with new stuff for my shop. eventhough i have lots of ideas that i'd love to work on if i had time, still....

i often think how productive i could be if i can just think of something and 'boom'! they materialized themselves in front of me :)
