Suwannee Hulaween returned to Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park with a spark of vibrant energy on a thrilling Thursday afternoon as the invigorating aura of Halloween, celebration, and unity welcomed visitors from near and far to the renowned music and camping venue. The 4-day festival commenced on October 30th and concluded on November 2nd, 2025.

Hula’s detail in curating an artistic and creative landscape for the special occasion of Halloween is what makes this festival’s vision one-of-a-kind.

Each day offered a well-diversified experience with ease of mobility from stage to stage for maximum enjoyment of the music all weekend. The festival featured 5 stages including The Meadow, The Hallows, The Amphitheatre, Spirit Lake, and Def Off Limits. (Learn more about the stages and festival themes here.)

Thursday’s lineup started with an early performance by Kentucky singer-songwriter Colton Bowlin piercing through the Radiant Veil at Spirit Lake with a rocking country dance jam. Colton’s EP How to Be Me is available now.

DJ and producer Ariel Dominguez, aka DOMii, mixed a flavorful and feminine blend of deep, tropical, and bass house vibes at The Amphitheatre.

Also at The Amp, emerging electronic duo Future Joy inspired dancing, laughter, and cheer with a Toy Story themed performance. Future Joy’s Now album is available on streaming platforms.

An array of colorful costumes blanketed The Meadow for The String Cheese Incident‘s highly anticipated first performance of the festival. SCI played 6 sets throughout the weekend.

The sunset with Westend at the Amp, Wethan at the Off Limits Stage, and The Infamous Stringdusters with Sierra Hull at Spirit Lake.

WonkyWilla churned up the “wubs and bangers” at The Hallows as the stage instantly became a deep bass mecca.

Jade Cicada followed with a strongly hypnotic set, bringing the audience on sonic journey of deep bass-lines and innovative audio-visual production.

Anticipation was high for the Mersiv and Tape B back-to-back performance which followed their individual solo sets. Both acts dominated the stage with enormous energy and huge dubstep mashups.

it’s murph offered a balanced contrast with soulful house grooves at The Amphitheatre and Spirit Lake came alive with an electrifying jam by moe.

Friday’s music was highlighted by afternoon jams with Dizgo, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, and Sunsquabi. The sets were especially bright and energetic as livetronica, funk, rock and more permeated the festival with friendly vibes and contagious dance tunes.

Illenium‘s explosive headlining performance at The Meadow was accentuated by illuminating lazers and sky-piercing fireworks. The GRAMMY-nominated future bass / dubstep producer made his last appearance at Hulaween 9 years ago…hopefully we won’t have to wait so long again.

The Hallows stage was headlined by a truly special LSZEE performance, a melodic and enchanting duo project expertly crafted by LSDream and CloZee. The project will conclude with a finale this December.

Livetronica jam band The Disco Biscuits were a prominent presence at The Hallows stage playing two consecutive sets with powerful precision. Disco Biscuits extended their magnetism with a late-night appearance as Tractorbeam at Spirit Lake.

Saturday was a remarkable day for music at Hulaween with EDM giants Zeds Dead filling the Amphitheatre to maximum capacity. The duo’s new album Return to the Spectrum of Intergalactic Happiness is available now.

The audience also reached capacity at the Spirit Lake stage for a monumental performance by house music duo Gorgon City. Gorgon City was an epic addition to the Hulaween lineup and significant moment to remember for years to come.

Mary Droppinz dropped a nonstop incredibly charismatic selection of dubsteb, hip hop, and future bass at The Amphitheatre during sunset. The multidimensional dub artist also played a surprise secret renegade set after hours.

For the late-night vibes, house and techno producer BLOND:ISH was a pure pleasure to watch at the Def Off Limits Stage. Her “Live Your Best Life” Tour lived up to its title with a selection of lavishly upbeat tracks to keep people alive and grooving.

Sunday was a blissful experience as the dreamy adventure concluded with an eclectic mixture of mellow, upbeat, and high-impact performances.

American rock band Goose played a refreshing 3-hour set in the meadow, perfect for early-evening dinnertime leading into the Saturday night festivities.

Sammy Virji provided a sensationally appealing hour of uplifting house music at The Amphitheatre. He will be embarking on an Asia tour this winter followed by a European / U.K. tour next spring.

Popular Jacksonville-based electronic/hip hop producer and lyricist Wes Pipes performed his first-ever Amphitheatre show at SOSMP with an enthusiastically positive response from the audience and his longtime supporters.

The Amphitheatre also showcased a funky groove-house set by DJ, producer, and vocalist Cole Knight. Her breakthrough EP Keep It Cute is available now.

Experimental bass music artist Distinct Motive played a compelling and gratifying dubstep selection as the sun set at Spirit Lake. He is a highly-recommended artist to see at future events.

The final performance of Suwannee Hulaween 2025 was provided by Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country at Spirit Lake. The improvisational country group is currently touring the U.S. and has a 2-show appearance in Nashville this December.

Secret sets were provided by Tape B b2b Disco Lines (Friday), Mary Droppinz (Saturday), Franc Moody (Saturday), Maz (Sunday), and Rudashi (Sunday).

In addition to the impeccably curated musical performances, the vendor market offered a diverse selection of custom jewelry, intricately designed festive wear and artwork, official Hulaween merch, as well as plentiful food options. (The gyro was superb!)

Weather conditions were favorable — mostly sunny with a light drizzle on Sunday. Hula does get chilly at night — bring a cozy coat and hand-warmers.

About Shannon:

Grammy nominee Shannon McNally’s live music career began on the jam band circuit of the 1990s with bands like Derek Trucks and Railroad Earth. Since then, her catalog has grown to span the whole of the Americana music spectrum, both writing original songs as well as interpreting the songs of others. She brings a soul-stirring musicality to her craft. Her honest and, at times, elegant voice immediately grabs one by the heartstrings. Not to mention as it turns out, she is also an exceptional electric guitar player.

McNally has fourteen albums to her name and a string of single self-releases on her personal label, Queen Maeve Records. Her latest album, “Live At Dee’s,” is a career retrospective song list captured over four nights in September of 2022 with a revolving band of Nashville musicians. Showcasing McNally’s wonderful storytelling and sense of wry humor, the 18-song disc captures her at her most relaxed in her natural habitat of neighborhood Honky Tonk.

For those who have followed McNally’s twenty-plus-year career, the thing that sticks with listeners the most about her is the timeless effortlessness she brings to all she does. With an impressive catalog and extensive list of collaborators with whom she has written, recorded, and toured; McNally continues to turn out great music across wide-flung ends of the spectrum, defying genre-fication. At home on any stage, from Lincoln Center to the juke joints of Mississippi—she always brings the house down.

Hulaween 2025 kicks off on Thursday and returns with four immersive and fantastical themes, each offering a unique world for festival-goers to explore. The celebration begins with “Beyond the Radiant Veil: There’s No Place Like Home,” where the characters of Oz in masquerade gather at the intersection of light and shadow, inviting everyone to return home to the swamp reflectively. Next, “The Mad Hatter’s Purple Ball” plunges attendees down the rabbit hole into a cosmic, purple-hued gala of madness, blending whimsy, chaos, and a touch of Prince-inspired extravagance.

As the festival unfolds, “Vampires, Sinners, & Saints” sets the stage for a thrilling night where villains, heroes, angels, and monsters converge in a dance of light and darkness, inviting all to revel in a celebration of good, evil, and everything in between. Finally, Hulaween closes with “Wicked Dark Disco Circus,” a glittering finale of disco vibes, animal prints, and forest-dwelling freaks, uniting music, art, and wild creativity as the 12th annual celebration culminates in sequins, spectacle, and untamed energy.

Suwannee Hulaween unveils Spirit Lake art programming and festival schedule ahead of 2025 edition

Suwannee Hulaween has revealed the 2025 Spirit Lake art programming ahead of its 12th annual celebration, marking the third consecutive year the festival has announced its visual lineup in advance. Spirit Lake remains one of the most beloved immersive art experiences across U.S. festivals, blending sculpture, projection mapping, interactive builds, performance, and stage design into an unforgettable world.

In May, Hulaween announced the 2025 theme for Spirit Lake’s coveted art program: The Radiant Veil – The Dance of Light and Shadow, an inspiring new concept set to transform the festival grounds like never before.

Guiding this vision is Spirit Lake’s Experience Director, Justin Bolognino, CEO of META, a company that creates multi-sensory experiences that fuse technology, design, and storytelling to ignite the human senses and spirit. Bolognino has designed dynamic artistic experiences in collaboration with artists such as Skrillex, Phish, Questlove, Porter Robinson, and St. Vincent, alongside brand partners like Google, Spotify, Samsung, and Vimeo. Gearing up for his third Hulaween edition as Experience Director, Bolognino has fortified the classic installations that fans have come to know and love while continuing to expand Spirit Lake’s imaginative universe.

Paul Kuhn aka Twelve Limbs Art Studio will bring back highly recognized sculptural pieces, including The Witch, The Ferryman, and Ogres + Rock Hands. These towering works have become landmarks of Spirit Lake and remain central to the festival’s narrative design.

Thomas Dambo returns with his iconic Spider and Pineapple Hands, while SLOPS adds The Spider’s Eggs to continue the evolving storyline. Duende Builds will also return with its eco-conscious Birdhouse Village, hand-crafted from local natural materials.

Hulaween is also excited to welcome back the OFF LIMITS stage, a 360-degree experience by Duende, RÜTS, and Justin Bolognino that debuted in 2024 and quickly became a Spirit Lake staple. With its stained-glass design of dragonfly wings and abstracted beetles, the stage merges dark Victorian fantasy with nature’s microcosm. This year’s underground programming, curated by Define Everything Future (DEF) and powered by Incendia fire effects and a L-Acoustics sound system, will feature Whethan, YDG, Jigitz, BLOND:ISH, Ahadadream, Alex Wann, and more.

Lost Creations’ gothic-inspired House of Lost, complete with its legendary sultry performances and the return of Midnight Mass, returns with a refreshed design and programming by founder Ian Tuma.

Cory Glenn’s Incendia will return larger and more immersive than ever, geodesic steel temples alive with fire performance and flame effects, while Jasper & Shelby Mosher’s Electric Dream Machine shows off their projection mapping wizardry that transforms forest structures and sculptures into vibrant narratives of light and motion.

Spirit Lake will also premiere a new large-scale work for the permanent collection, Fiddlehead, by Justin Bolognino and RÜTS, built by Hoodie Salinas and Majestix Design team, a massive Fibonacci fern sculpture lit with projection mapping that blends futuristic science fiction with lush natural fantasy. Fox Light Labs’ SYNTHesthesia Crystals, an interactive musical infinity-mirror crystal cluster; and PDA Woodwork’s TeeterMAZE, a playful, large-scale rocking pinball maze for four players at a time.

Other newly-curated art highlights include Matt Elson’s mirrored light pieces Radiance and Tanzer; Matt Bosch’s evocative ode to the great Goddess sculpture Blood Ov Babalon; and the new LumaVoid Theatre featuring performances by Rabbit Foot Puppetry and Dragon Box Theatre, a shadow puppet venue where performers animate imaginative stories and characters that stretch beyond the screen for a playful experience. Rounding out the list are Wandering Lion Tea Sanctuary, a Gong Fu Cha tea house and sober space, and the notable Spirit Lake classic, Ania Amador’s Mural Maze. Spirit Lake’s overall deco design and storytelling elements will once again be led by RÜTS, who also envisioned the intimate Narrative Nook burrow.

Spirit Lake’s annual lakefront projection show also returns with four unique one-hour spectacles: From Light (Thursday), Into Shadow (Friday), The Radiant Veil (Saturday), and The Dance of Light and Shadow (Sunday). A very special and top-secret installation, The Oracle of Spirit Lake, will premiere, transforming the lake show into an interactive, participatory experience each night.

Tell us what you’ve been working on recently.

Yes, that’s a good question. I’ve been doing a lot of jungle / hardcore / breakbeat and I’m putting together an album called Flowstate. It’s a combination of music genres that influenced me growing up. I wanted to find a sound that encompassed all of those genres and find a way to fit it all together so it makes sense.

Tell us about your label.

I run a label called Jungle Cakes and it’s reggae-themed jungle. I also do a label called Hot Cakes that’s a combination of 2-step and it’s inspired by a lot of Florida breaks as well.

How is the scene different in Florida than where you’re from?

In England and Europe it’s quite similar to the scene you guys may have had here in the 90s – it’s like big raves. I think in America a lot of the events I come to are like 200 people in a club or more, and in England and Spain there are 1,000-2,000 people at a lot of them.

I know you’ve had a long career and are a pioneer and have achieved so much – is there anything that is still on your goal list or anything you haven’t done yet or want to achieve.

There’s a few venues I’d like to play that are on the to do list. Honestly, I like making pop music as well. I like structuring and writing it so I might do some ghost-producing maybe under another name to create some bigger records as well. I enjoy making underground music as well just as much.

What type of equipment do you use for production?

It’s mostly Logic and Ableton combined. I’m just about to buy a load of outboard equipment. People say that the plug-in technology is very similar. I started off using more analog equipment so I just want to incorporate that sound a bit more and actually experience it and see if there’s any difference. People swear by the plug-ins being equally matched.

Your company Hot Cakes recently celebrated its 20th anniversary correct?

Yes, that’s correct.

It seems as if you’ve kept to your core [original] sound. How would you say that you’ve evolved?

I’d say it’s more with the technology. A lot of the fundamentals are the same. I think the way we produce the records are a bit more punchy and cleaner. Having said that, things go in circles all the time so right now I’m trying to create that organic sound we used to get from working on the older equipment. I think sometimes that older sound is slightly more authentic and you can have a longer shelf life.

As far as the new album goes, have you released any new music yet?

Yes, I’ve released a couple of singles from it already – one of them is called “Be Your Girl” and that’s been doing really well. It’s been getting played on all the radio stations back in the U.K. I’ve got a couple of others to follow through so it’s building a bit of a story and having a theme pushing into an album.

Is there anything else we should know about?

Next month I’m going to tour Asia and Australia. Then I’m touring Canada. Then I’m coming back and then I’m doing Thailand in January. I didn’t expect to be this busy. [laughs] I didn’t even expect to be DJing now at this time, but it seems to be my busiest period in my life so I’m trying to embrace it while it’s there.

I run another label called Hardcore Energy with a friend of mine called Fish. That basically goes back to the early roots of jungle and breakbeat combined. It’s a nod to that era. We go under the name of “Originator and Proper” for that project. It’s quite a big movement in London and Bristol.

Suwannee Roots Revival is an annual tradition and a home-away-from-home for many of the attendees. We highly recommend coming a day early and staying a day late — you won’t want to leave. The early October seasonal weather change in Florida is ideal for sunbathing and taking a dip in the Suwannee River during the day, and getting cozy by the campfire at night. Bring your friends and family to enjoy one of the best experiences for live music, camping, and southern hospitality.

Read our highlights below:

Autumn was in the air as the festival commenced on a peaceful Thursday afternoon with a spirited performance by The Henhouse Prowlers. The Chicago-based bluegrass / Americana band is currently on tour this Fall/Winter in support of their new album release “Unravel” available now.

Nikki Talley Band shined on The Tent stage with country blues ballads of love, self-discovery, and inspiration performing heartfelt original songs like “I Love You” and “Traveling On.”

Nikki Talley Band, Quartermoon, and Sloppy Joe provided the soundtrack for
The Tent Stage with a finale headlined by The Grass Is Dead performing a bluegrass-folk fusion of Grateful Dead interpretations.
